I'm done with Cracker Barrel for good. I've been to two different locations a total of about four times over the past three years. It's obvious that things have gone downhill. Visit one, and the initial indication of a problem: We arrive for our usual Saturday Chicken & Rice special. That's like the only thing we order when we aren't getting breakfast. To our surprise, and without warning, we found that they don't offer it any more. We adjust our order and move on. The food we did order wasn't that great, not bad, just disappointing after hearing about the Chicken & Rice leaving forever. Visit two, a take out order for breakfast: I place the order for breakfast and go pick it up at the set time. Order not ready. Go wait in the car...half an hour later - order not ready. I'm getting hangry, and this was back when COVID was just starting to get serious so I didn't want to go in and complain - I was trying to be patient. Almost 45 minutes after the agreed upon/set time, my food is ready, I pay, and get home to feed the starving wife and kids. Get home, and the order is wrong. Missing items, food is cold, no plasticware or napkins, no jelly/butter, just all around a terrible experience. Visit three, an on-site visit at the Cartersville location: The staff is apathetic. They don't care if we're there or not, or if we want to order or not. It takes 15 minutes before our drinks are ordered because no one came to serve us. We were there almost two hours - because the waitstaff were completely apathetic. Not a care in the world. Food was better than the last two visits, so they did something right. Last visit, yesterday, on site back at Canton: We are seated promptly, even with an after-church crowd. The menu has changed - seemingly simplified, but they now serve mimosas? Things are looking like they are headed in the right direction - we're pleased. Then the waitress takes our order - she's professional and responsive (great!). But then she completely disappears. She repeats the disappearing act for 5 to 10 minutes at a time several times throughout our visit. The food arrives, and the chicken is cold. Not room temperature, but fully cooked and cold - I honestly don't know how they did it. The corn and the turnip greens were hot and tasty. The mashed potatoes were warm, and had obviously sat for a while because the brown gravy had that weird skin that forms when it sits for a while. We are missing two sets of silverware and some of the drinks are on empty for way too long because the waitress was playing her disappearing act. We did bring up the cold chicken, and we got a free dessert to share, which was tasty. I have a feeling it was more for marketing purposes than to make up for the cold food - she kept on about how it was a new dessert that she wanted us to try... I've given CB all I can. I've lost all faith that in them. The only thing that will bring me back is if the Chicken & Rice returns - and if they don't knock that out of the park, I think they'll have lost my business forever. read more

My husband and I moved down here from Ohio. We now live in Canton, Georgia. We have went to cracker Barrel several times and enjoyed it. The last few times we were very discussed about how filthy it was. As you walk in the door and look up at the things hanging down we seen so much dust and cobwebs on everything. When we were shown our table we seen dust and filth on the walls and pictures and tools hanging there also. We thought after the covid were it closed down inside that it would be cleaned up! We went in and it was just as filthy as it was before. Someone needs to do some deep cleaning. If it's this crappy in this area I hate to see what the cooking area looks like. I ordered a to-go order tonight which included a hamburger steak, fries and green bean. There was 10 tiny French fries total. I know the exact amount because I was so shocked I counted them. If I'm being generous there were maybe two tablespoons of green beans. I literally ate both sides in 4-5 bites total. This review is so overdue. About (7) months to be exact... You could say I'm a true procrastinator. During my vacation in Georgia earlier this year, my family suggested Cracker Barrel for a good breakfast spot. As we were pulling into the parking lot, I was hesitant to dine here based on the appearance of the place. It looked like a huge barnyard to me and not necessarily a place to grab a meal from, let alone somewhere that was very welcoming. There were also rocking chairs lined up across the entire front of the building. These are for purchase but customers are allowed to sit and rock on them (at least that's what we did). Once you enter you'll have to walk through their gift/souvenir shop (the country store). They have clothes, shoes, accessories, candy, etc. for sale. Continue on to the back left hand side and passed the registers there will be a hostess podium. From there someone will seat you in the restaurant in the next room towards your left. Decor is very southern with a collection of black and white pictures of people hanging on the walls (which surprisingly didn't give me the chills but instead made the place feel kinda homey). What I loved most of all was that there was no awkward feeling whatsoever about being the only Asians dining in the restaurant. Everyone was so friendly and there was nothing I can point out that made me feel out of place. I ordered the Old Timers Breakfast with Bacon and their Hashbrown Casserole (there's also an option for fried apples instead). It comes with (2) eggs cooked to order, grits, sawmill gravy, & buttermilk biscuits. This meal was only $7.45 and I would have easily paid double that amount for all this! I dug in and devoured everything. My experience felt like what I would expect from having a home cooked meal on a farm (if that makes any sense). Even though our order took a while to come out, it was acceptable since a manager came to our table to apologize for the wait. There was a big party that came in before us. Ok. So maybe we mentioned something to our waiter about our food, but still.. It was a great gesture for the manager to come out and talk to us. I don't know if I'll ever return to this state, but if I do, I know where I'll be able to get a great meal for my money's worth. For all you people in Georgia that yearn for Portuguese Sausage, Eggs and Rice for breakfast, feel comforted in knowing people here in Hawaii are longing for grits and gravy.. We have eaten at this location for over 10 years. We come once a week. This is the 3rd time that our catfish has had to be sent back. Each time it has been so over cooked that it looked burnt. This time the manager put the plate together himself and should have seen that it was over cooked and the hush puppies I wouldn't give my dog. After sending it back today the 2nd try was some better but still over cooked. At this point the other food was too cold so we asked for a box. The waitress was either having a bad day or was new. There was no onion with our greens, no vinegar given, no corn muffins brought ( all of which we had to ask for). Overall this visit was the same as the last, disappointing. Mmmmm What has happened to the service here? I use to bring my kids here on the weekends and it was a real family feel. The kids would shop and play games while we waited for our table and then we would indulge in hot biscuits with apple butter while we waited for our food. First off our server had more tattoos and metal in her body than any member of the Hells Angels Now that alone would not receive a bad rating, but sitting with empty glasses for 3/4 of our meal does. This was the first time some of them had been to a cracker barrel so I was looking forward to great service, delicious pancakes and thick bacon slices like I've received at every other cracker barrel I've been to. Just finished eating here. Our waitress was lovely. However, when my boyfriend received his meal (chicken fried chicken), he got about 3 bites in his mouth before realizing the chicken was RAW. The manager came up and asked what was wrong and we told him that the chicken was raw and we got a very cold "sorry. Can I get you anything else?" Which we declined. He then took the plate and walked off. He comped the meal and completely removed it from the check, but refused to sign anything acknowledging the incident. He told my boyfriend as we were leaving that he could take his name and phone number and write up an incident report and have the home office call us.
