Holy moly was this location busy! We when we walked in, we were sat immediately but the line for the registers was excessively long. It remained so even as finished. I guess it's hard to get help these days but I digress... Our server, Macie was Ah-Macie-ng! She handled the busyness with class and in stride. She was attentive and checked on us often. My hubby got the pot roast with mashed potatoes. He enjoyed it. I ordered the lunch special of a house salad with balsamic vinaigrette and a loaded baked potato. The classic house salad has cheese, bacon, tomatoes, cucumbers, and croutons. The baked potato was huge with butter, bacon, cheese, sour cream, and green onions. I also ordered a side of the garlic steak tips which were delicious also. The dining room, bathrooms and store were clean. A huge shoutout to Chris in the store who welcomed us as soon as we walked in. So nice!! I'm knocking off a star simply because of the wait in line and once we got to the register, the kitchen manager was helping out. He was grumpy and couldn't wait to get out at 2. I know we all have rough days.. but this was the end of our experience and it just didn't finish on a high note. I usually go out to eat breakfast three to four times a week. Today I went to Cracker Barrel for three first time in a long while. I ordered three Uncle Hershel's Favorite with the cured ham. I couldn't foolish three ham because it was like chewing my leather belt. Then, I was served biscuits with my meal, but not given any condiments (e.g., Apple Butter or jelly). Plus, I almost finished my meal before the waitress ever came over to ask if I wanted a refill on my coffee. When she did come over it literally took her five minutes to refill my cup. Service: It wasn't very crowded so we were seated immediately and snagged a table near the fireplace, which sounded cozier in theory than in execution. Credit where it's due: our server was very attentive, polite, and doing their absolute best - clearly not responsible for the crimes about to be committed by the kitchen. Food: Sadly, whatever goodwill the service built up was promptly obliterated by the kitchen in what can only be described as an epic culinary misadventure (or a museum exhibit on food neglect.) I ordered the build-your-own platter (two meats, three sides). In a moment of optimism, I chose fried chicken, meatloaf, double fried okra, and green beans. All three diners in our group received their meals quickly and at the same time--which now feels less like efficiency and more like a warning sign. 1. Fried Chicken: Cold, soggy, and completely devoid of flavor. If seasoning was invited, it clearly didn't show up. 2. Meatloaf: Looked like it had been aging quietly in a back corner celebrating its fifth birthday, and tasted even older. To its credit, it was hot--clearly the result of a heroic microwave session. 3. Fried Okra: Inedible, chewy, stale, cold, aggressively bland, utterly soulless. I've had packing peanuts with more personality. 4. Green Beans: Old, cold, and missing any evidence of salt or care. Aside from the eggs and pancakes (which is apparently where expectations should stop), the food was clearly not made to order. The eggs were significantly overcooked, the hashbrowns were lukewarm, and the overall presentation suggested everything had been lounging under a heat lamp since last Tuesday. It looked tired. It tasted tired. I felt tired eating it. Ambiance: It's a Cracker Barrel, so expectations were already modest--but even those weren't met. I hadn't been to this location (or any CB) in a few years, and apparently neither has their renovation team. Absolutely nothing has changed, except for the massive and impressive decline in food quality. Hadn't been to a Cracker Barrel in a couple years, but went for dinner tonight at their Canton, GA location hearing their CEO saying they're making changes to stay relevant. We really didn't notice much of anything different other than how bad the service was, and it wasn't very busy. Our server Jennifer was very forgetful and below average as a server. I showed her dirty silverware when she took my order, served my appetizer, but still no silverware. The dressing dipping sauce for the appetizer was spilled when she served it and said she'd be right back with the sauce...it never came. When she finally arrived with the entrees, I had to remind her again that I needed clean silverware. My wife and I both got the fried chicken entree which was nicely crispy, but too salty. Much prefer fried chicken at Publix Supermarket or Golden Coral than Cracker Barrel's. Their Cole Slaw was quite good though as we're the biscuits. Mac b Cheese was quite standard though I did enjoy my dumpling side. In summary, a nice change of pace but nothing to write home about and the poor service makes the thought of going back again soon less likely with so many other dining choices around. read more

I have had issues with this location but it's been a while so I thought I would try again. It was very average. Upon entering, we were seated relatively quickly. It took a bit for our server to show up and he mumbled and spoke so quietly my friends and I all couldn't hear him. The outside of my water glass was dirty. We were surrounded by dirty tables that were not getting cleaned. We ordered our food and it came, not too long of a wait. I got the grilled chicken tenderloins and 2 sides, dumplings and carrots. The carrots were dried out, almost like they were reheated in a microwave. The dumplings were okay and the grilled chicken wasn't bad. There were a couple of bites I got that were gristle and some had burnt marinade on top that wasn't great. Our bread was sorry- for 3 people we got 4 pieces of bread and they were tiny and undercooked. The meatloaf my friend ordered was burnt on the entire top, rendering that portion of the food inedible. The portion of eggs my other friend got was sorry as well. It was difficult to get refills as well- I left still feeling thirsty. Everything was underwhelming, especially as we have patronized other Cracker Barrels in the area. For $50, our service was pitiful. As you can see in my photo, our butter bowl in the bread basket had some old food crusted onto it. Plus, we watched the servers "clean" another table. They wiped off some of the table and then put the dirty menu back on. They had left a pile of dirty dishes on the corner. They finally came back by to pick up the dirty dishes but did not clean the table again. Instead, they shifted the items (sugars, salt, etc) to the other side and proceeded to sit another unsuspecting couple at that table. Their cleanliness was not there. read more

I have always gotten great country food here at the Canton, Ga Cracker Barrel. For years it has been my Favorite Restaurant. Today a friend and I went at lunchtime. It was around 12 pm but I wanted Breakfast anyway. I ordered the Grandma's Breakfast. It has eggs, bacon, sausage, country ham, grits and pancakes. I don't know who the cook was. He must have been a beginner. The worst breakfast ever received there. The Bacon was burnt black, ham was under bacon. Ham looked like another slice of skinny burnt bacon. Grits had no butter in it or any on the table. It tasted like Bacon grease in it. Eggs were okay and pancakes didn't taste fresh. I sent my bacon back for a good piece and was brought another piece like the first. The ham was overcooked and black. It didn't taste like good ham. I couldn't eat the meat or grits so I ate the pancakes and eggs. . They weren't anything to brag about. I hate to give them a bad score because they have always been so good but this time it was awful. I hope they don't continue cooking like that and go under. Just need to replace the cook. read more

Coming from a medical procedure that required me to fast I was hungry, but not overly so. The discharge nurse advised me to eat turkey, grilled chicken, maybe mac n' cheese. Sounds like a Cracker Barrel kind of meal! On road trips, I've ordered grilled chicken on seared bread at virtually every Cracker Barrel we'd stop at. Simple, but satisfying. I was informed that my go-to dish is no longer on the menu -- but our server suggested something that fit the bill: grilled chicken tenders. I ordered the children's portion -- three nice-sized tenders -- which came with one side. Mac n' cheese it is! The waitress graciously brought out seared sourdough and I made my own sandwich. We didn't even have to pay for coffee, since a drink -- even refillable coffee -- is included on the children's menu. My meal was better than fast food, and cheaper too at $5.99. My husband ordered the meatloaf special. Mixed reviews. The meatloaf tasted homemade, but the slice was skimpy like it too came off the children's menu. (It didn't.) Cole slaw was tangy and good, but I equated the side of mashed potatoes to mortar! Dense, tasteless -- the kitchen should definitely re-work their recipe. At lunchtime the place was hopping. The food is delicious. The service is good, and so is the atmosphere. The price is good considering how much you get. I did have bad experiences with this Cracker Barrel in the past. It seems that waitresses or waiters that wear aprons with five stars give you the worst service, and waitresses or waiters with no store give the best service. My husband and I recently visited this location for breakfast. We were seated fairly quickly but sat for 15 minutes without a server even taking our drink order. We noticed 4 other parties seated after us get their drinks and have their orders taken. I saw the dining room manager, Chad, and told him our situation. He first apologized and then took our drink order himself. He even offered cinnamon rolls or something else from the menu to make amends. We politely declined and explained we'd just like to order. Chad took our order himself. My husband and I have children and grandchildren who work in the food service business and we completely understand things like this can happen. However, it's how they are handled that makes all the difference. Chad is a superstar and handled our situation superbly! NO BISCUITS?!?! there was some manager or corporate person standing by the kitchen just glaring out at the patrons. i can only guess he was watching the waiting staff but it felt like he was watching our every move. just plain CREEPY. Cracker Barrel can vary by location, and this was a A++±+ experience from the very start. Ashley was on top of everything and smiled the whole time. It is such a pleasure to have such GREAT service. We ordered Strawberry Cheesecake breakfast and the Hashbrown Casserole breakfast. Biscuits are the bomb ... too! The food came out quickly and right on point. Drinks never hit empty, which is one of my gouges to good service. Ashley even had a to go cup ready before we left. One of the managers also checked in on us. Her name was Sam, and also a pleasure to meet. I have to say this visit to Cracker Barrel was by far one of the very best! The Strawberry Cheesecake breakfast was also awesome. My wife loved the Hashbrown Casserole breakfast too! Bottom line... great food, best service, a winning combination. We will be back soon. read more

Alex D was our server and absolutely wonderful! However, at check out, Brenda my cashier was having a bad day and chastising the other cashier on his bag choice for the items he was selling a customer. Finally his customer said she didn't need a bag and left. I felt terrible for the young man. He was trying his best with an odd shaped Halloween item. Brenda commented about needing to go home. Clearly she should just clock out and go get some rest and allow that young man to do his job, as he did it very well. read more

Let us start off by saying we use Cracker Barrell while traveling south to Florida usually for breakfast. Never any issues , good fresh breakfast and good service. So today we went to the Canton Ga location after receiving an email for a Xmas ornament on them,, up to a certain small value. We decided to stop by and have a late lunch. Both had the turkey dinner. It was terrible, turkey crumbled when touched with a fork and it sure did not seem to be real turkey! The sides were okay and service was even better. Both had to use the bathroom within 30 minutes!!! Now as we checked out for our $29.00 plus lunch, we asked what Xmas ornaments could we choose from.. oh wait we had to buy an additional $10.00 of stuff in the retail store.. Sorry Cracker Barrell you may have some interesting stuff in your retail store but we just spent $29.00 plus and dont want to here its a separate store! Based on the terrible turkey or whatever it was lunch.. we will pass ! In fact by playing these ridiculous games on sending an email for a free ornament we will pass your store for now on! We used to love this location. But the last two times we were there they never have what's on the menu. Sure some days have specials but they don't have most items. The first time we went there I had to have two different backup meals in mind because the first two they did not have. The waitress said third times a charm, and that just made us leave. The second time we didn't even use the menu. We simply asked. What do you have? The waitress said they had fried turkey and 15 minutes later she came back and said they didn't have it. It took forever just to get drinks. People came and went around us.. but still we had nothing at the table. When in Rome..... OK, Canton, GA. You really have to slow down and relax when you are here. I could not stomach a Hampton Inn complementary breakfast when there is a Cracker Barrel across the street. It took a while to get seated. No wait for assistance but the hostess was 139 years old and, you know, walking takes time. Country music was blaring and white folks were everywhere. There was a real fire crackling in the fireplace and all that was missing were red MAGA hats. It took a while to bring my coffee but you could not make a better breakfast. My blueberry pancakes were absolutely fantastic. Crispy crust and perfectly delicious. Real maple syrup in small heated glass bottles. Perfect eggs and bacon, too. Sit back and rest a spell. WOW! has this place ever went down the Cracker Barrel "CRAPER"!! Ordered there heritage breakfast 45 minutes Later what showed up was an embarrassment to the chicken and the pig that gave there precious life for the food offerings. The scrambled eggs were one solid overcooked mass that i could pick up in one piece, the sausage patties where inedible resembling a hockey puck that had been run over in the parking lot and the bacon was hard and sharp enough to use as a steak knife! I did talk to the Mgr and he did reduce the bill, probably felt bad due to the recent price increase they imposed. I came out here to eat with friends on a Sunday morning...It was a expected a complete mob house....I think we waited about 45 minutes which we didn't mind... Attached to the restaurant is store that sells not only old fashioned candies and toys but gag gifts of all sorts. It was pretty fun to browse through all of their cool stuff. The staff was nice enough to allow us to mess around and take some of the toys for a spin. The restaurant itself is one of the decent places around to be a solid breakfast. I've been to this CB and the CB in Kennesaw at least a couple of other times in the past and had no complaints. I've only had their blueberry pancakes with scramble eggs and grits with coffee. You be surprised by how many places can't make a decent pancake....CB's pancakes are fluffy but dense and they're generous with their portions. I've never had any problem with the service here.
