Nothing scrambled about these eggs yuck

I hate not to give a good review as the waiter was amazing. But the food was below average all the way Chicken Fried Steak was a frozen premade patty that was salty and taste horrible, gravy was cold and lumpy and grits Sat in a bowl of congealed grease. Scrambled eggs came out as a thin flat overcooked no flavor yuck. Waiter was great and did take off the horrible CFS Biscuit was good and stuffed pancake had all the right flavors. Coffee and ice tea yummy. We love Cracker Barrel but I guess you need to know what to order and scrambled eggs, grits and CFS is not it.

(I tried writing this in an old-timey style, HA!) For many a year, I have longed to cross the threshold of this fine and curious eatery, drawn by whispers of its old-fashioned charm and hearty fare. At last, the day arrived! The hour was four in the afternoon, the hearth was ablaze with a most picturesque and comforting fire, and the establishment, though not bustling, exuded a warmth that beckoned weary travelers such as ourselves. I partook in the Early Bird Supper, a most economical offering with portions more befitting the sensible appetite. Indeed, we Americans are oft too indulgent in our repasts! My selection was the fried chicken cutlet, accompanied by the renowned hashbrown casserole (a delicacy of great repute) and the fried apples, which lent a pleasing sweetness to the plate. My dear husband, ever the intrepid gourmand, selected the pot roast shepherd's pie, a dish of great richness, boasting an astonishing 1,300 calories! Good heavens! The meal was further enhanced by the arrival of biscuits and cornbread, thoughtfully suggested by our most delightful and capable server, Miss Yessica. Many a critic lamented poor service at this establishment, yet I declare we found no such fault. She was swift, kind, and ever-ready with a refill of our drinking vessels. Upon her apron, she bore four stars, a ranking of mysterious origin, yet surely indicative of her excellence. In summation, dear reader, if thou seeketh a repast both hearty and homely, served amidst the glow of a roaring fire, look no further. This humble house of victuals doth satisfy the soul, and I shall most assuredly return anon!

I used to prefer other breakfast eateries because of the wait and having to mingle with throngs of people in the Country Store until a table was free. We went shortly before the flap about the CEO who wanted to blah the logo and do a woke rework. There wasn't a crowd like the old days, and fortunately the meals were tasty. It was a good experience at this Grapevine location, but this chain needs to get back to the basics that made them popular before they go belly up. Especially need to regain a friendly and responsive wait staff. Good traditional breakfast plates.

It was Sunday and thank goodness, I did "Join the waitlist" because it was BUSY at 12:30pm. It took awhile for the Hostess to find my name on the tablet after I showed her the confirmation on my phone. The wait was less than 5 minutes. Once seated, it took some time before our server came. Like I said, they were busy. Food was good. Service could use some help when it's busy. It's definitely come back.

Every now and then I get a craving for crispy edge Cracker Barrel pancakes and crispy fatty bacon. Today the pancakes could have been cooked a little longer but my craving was satisfied.

Wait time was about 30 minutes on a Sunday afternoon, but they got us in quicker than 30. The tables and floors were clean and just as other Cracker Barrels, it was decorated very nostalgic. The food was really good! I ordered the grilled chicken tenders. Gratefuly, they were not dry, seasoned well, tender enough to cut with a fork, and the serving size was good. The green beans and mashed potatoes were also seasoned well and very flavorful. The biscuits were warm and tasted fresh. Unfortunately, neither the girl taking names, our server, or the server at the next table ever cracked a smile, no human connection whatsoever. Their long faces didn't ruin our meal, but it set the tone for our time spent there.

Pros: clean store and the kids love looking at all the toys upon entry. They always have good deals on stuff and I always forget to shop there. Food is priced well and overall atmosphere of restaurant is homelike. Hash brown casserole and bread always hits the spot. Cons: On this experience the customer service was lacking. We had to flag down servers because our server kept disappearing. Steak was super well done almost Jerky texture so we sent that back and it took 20+ minutes for a med-rear steak. Waiter comped the meal for that mistake. Someone needs to check on the well being of the servers they seemed overworked or under staffed on a not so busy night. I don't always have this type of experience so I'll be back again but not too soon.

She's sharp,…read morequick-witted, and actually pays attention to what's going on around her--something that clearly isn't consistent across the rest of the floor. While other servers seemed more focused on socializing with regulars than doing their jobs, Taylor stood out immediately. She stayed engaged, checked in at the right times, and made sure everything was handled without needing to be asked twice. That's not luck--that's professionalism. She brings a mix of intelligence and humor that makes the experience better without being forced or over the top. More importantly, she executes. Orders are right, timing is right, and the overall experience feels intentional--not neglected. If you're going to Rowdy Cowboy, don't leave it to chance. Ask for Taylor by name. She's an asset to that place, and based on what I saw, she's setting a standard others there aren't meeting

My Overall Rating - 3 1/2 Stars (5 Stars if you only care about service) Atmosphere - It's pretty electric. There is a large bar in the middle, tons of bar seating, and during my Thursday visit for lunch, it was packed. The vibes are good, and tons of TVs are showing sports. If you have an XY chromosome, this is your place. 1 Star. Service - Rowdy Cowboy is known for having great servers who are very friendly (and nice to look at). All tables were taken, so I sat at the bar. The bartenders were fast, efficient, and very friendly. They got my order wrong, but I don't care. Their friendliness made me not care. 1 Star. Food - Look, if you're here, you're not here for the food. I started with the Steak Frites. The steak was super tender but lacked seasoning. The shoestring fries were awesome and made the perfect pairing to the steak. I ordered the Brisket Sliders but ended up with Wagyu Sliders. I didn't mind because our bartenders were so friendly, but the sliders were just ok. Remember, this place is not known for the food. 1/2 Star. Will I Return? - Yes. Rowdy Cowboy knows exactly what it does well, and believe me it does it well. In fact, out of all the restaurants in this genre, Rowdy Cowboy has the friendliest staff. Yes, I will be back. 1 Star.

Because the weather was cooperative, the windows of the enclosed patio and the bar were opened. Diners were able to sit at the bar in the patio area. The bar was initially staffed by a single bartender. Not only did she introduce herself, she also asked for my name. As I needed a menu, she asked the host for a stack for myself and other diners. A second employee, not as friendly, arrived sometime later to assist setting up the bar. There were some minor inconveniences arriving this early. Because I was the first to require a refill, the bartender had to get a coffee pot from the kitchen. Afterwards, she kept the pot at the bar. I decided on the Breakfast Egg Rolls. Not sure how something tagged "new" can be a house specialty. The breakfast jam lacked flavor. The egg rolls were saved due to the taste of the fried wontons. Of the two sauces, the maple syrup was better than the spicy hollandaise. The hollandaise lacked both heat and spiciness. When I was served coffee, I was not provided either cream nor sweeteners. As I did not notice any nearby, rather than wait to have the her return to the kitchen, I decided to give it a sip. Surprisingly, the coffee tasted great. It was neither acidic nor had a bitter aftertaste.

For sides, I chose the mac and cheese, cornbread, tallow fries, and Brussels sprouts. This is the kind of meal you remember for a while. The Wagyu tomahawk ribeye was the star of the table. Tender, flavorful, and packed with that rich beefy taste you'd expect from a steak of that caliber. The garlic stuffed filet was incredibly tender and added another layer of flavor, while the New York strip had a great texture and a perfect mesquite grilled finish. The Gulf shrimp were cooked well and added a nice contrast to all the steak. Smoky, juicy, and full of flavor. The sides were excellent across the board. The mac and cheese was creamy and rich, the cornbread was warm and comforting, the tallow fries were crispy and addictive, and the Brussels sprouts provided a nice balance to the feast. The restaurant itself has a true Texas atmosphere with a rustic upscale feel. Service was attentive, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience feel special. This wasn't just dinner. Not a true "Japanese wagyu" texture, but still an excellent steak overall. - Sides (mashed potatoes, fries, broccolini, cornbread): All pretty good across the board. I liked the cornbread the most and wished there was more of it. Usually a side of cornbread is much more substantial and comes with honey butter. - Steak sauce: we ask for a side of this.
