I like the Cracker Barrel for several reasons -breakfast all day -coffee is good -love the homey fireplace and games inside the restaurant -the home cooking is one of the best around -the country store is always fun to look around in all these things are a win however a miss this time was the service . I remember coming here and everything was fresh and delicious. Recently we couldn't even get real cream for our coffee, our favorite dishes had been replaced on the menu with "smothered" items and when we reached out to the home office we were told our issues were "received". We used to go to Cracker Barrel when I was younger and it was always good. I LOVED their hash brown casserole! Last night's visit though? Not so good. Of course the store is always fun to walk through, so that is largely where the 2 stars come from. We were seated quickly, and then it took quite some time for our server to get our drink orders. I ordered their new huckleberry iced tea. I didn't think to ask if it was sweetened. It was. It was very sweet to to point that it just had a really weird taste. I decided on breakfast for dinner. 1. Eggs soft scrambled - they were horribly dry. 2. Hash brown casserole - it was sort of crispy as if it had been out since morning; also dry. 3. Bacon was ok. 4. I ate some of my grits with my fork since I did not have a spoon and since the server was very rarely seen. No taste at all, but then that isn't unusual for grits so they get a pass on that. 5. The biscuits were quite good and 6. the gravy wasn't bad. My fiancé's chicken and dumplings were pretty good. I was very disappointed both the meal and the service. Went for the great breakfast that used to be served. First, the waiter was great. Attentive and very pleasant. Asked about a spinach omelet and was told not spinach and no more omelets. My family and I generally love cracker barrel but man ya'll need to clean the bathroom. Everytime, which has been often the bathroom is discusting. The hostess is not rude but doesn't smile and very unwelcoming. The servers all act like they hate their job. We usually love the food but the last few visits the food has not been warm. RANT ALERT Sooo I am a big Cracker Barrel lover. I've been to several and in my college days I worked there so needless to say I know the ins and outs of this place. Well let me tell you it was basically a ghost town! So we got sat right away but it seemed like it took forever for our server to come! She finally came.. took our order and all of the basics but when we got our food EVERYTHING WAS WRONG and to top it all off it was not hot at all..it was barely warm. I ordered breakfast and my friend ordered a country fried steak and he ended up sending it back and instead got a cheeseburger. But we're not big on complaining sooo we ate it anyway. Our server was HORRID. We had to nag for refills and we only had one the entire time we were there. All in all the service was absolutely horrible but it won't keep us from the Barrel we just wont be back at this particular location! I don't know if it's this specific location or the entire establishment, but over the last couple of years this place has gone very down hill. Each time I come there's some type of issue that occurs. This time, our waitress simply was awful (her name was Sophia S.). I ordered the 'Biscuit Benny' which is essentially an eggs benedict on biscuits. The meal comes with a choice of meat on top and two sides. The waitress never asked me for my choices and when I later specified them, she acted shocked that one would "customize" the dish even though the servers are supposed to ask what meat, sides, etc. I figured I would not need to specify what type of eggs since eggs benedict always comes as poached. When I got my plate, it had scrambled eggs instead of poached - or for this restaurant at least over easy since they don't offer poached. Never in my life have I sent a meal back, but there's a first for everything. When I kindly told her it was supposed to come with different eggs she got defensive and said "that's how our establishment makes it". I find this comment funny because when I looked at their website prior to coming, it did not show scrambled eggs on this dish, but instead poached or over easy eggs. Once I received the meal back it was practically inedible because they dumped so much paprika on the eggs. Unfortunately this wasn't the only issue of the night. We had to ask for biscuits (which typically they usually bring out) and it didn't come with any sauce so I had to ask three times for jam. The restaurant was pretty empty and there were 2-3 tables MAXIMUM in her section. We were very kind to her about each issue, but it's very disappointing to have service like this. read more

Came to this location to eat today. The hostess sat us (2 people) quickly, this was honestly the only good thing about this experience. It took 15 minutes for our waitress to come get our order given there was only a few guest at the time we arrived. It took 45 minutes for one of us to get our meal and I never got mine. After an hour I decided I was going to just cancel my order and pay for what was consumed. It took 15 more minutes to get the check and that was because I had to ask the hostess for it. When receiving the check there was additional items being charged. I was no longer going to interact with the waitress so I asked to speak to the manager, the hostess comes back and says the manager is to busy to speak to me. Yet again, the hostess had to solve the issue. When paying out, the cashier asks how our experience was, I say horrendous and she goes ahead and calls the manager to which I let her know that I had already requested to speak to her and she was to busy. The manager finally arrives and asks what's the problem with an annoyed attitude. I explain to her what the issue was and how I was needed her assistance to fix the ticket so I could pay and leave. She goes on and says "well what needs to be fixed!" I had just explained to her that the hostess had done her job and fixed the mistake. After that she just walks away. I wouldn't send my worst enemy here. I was in the neighborhood because I was headed to Grapevine Mills and had been craving Cracker Barrel but didn't get a chance on a recent road trip. This was my chance. Or so I thought. Upon walking in, I was seated fairly quickly. Within about 30 seconds of sitting down, a nice lady asked if I had been helped and what I would like to drink. She brought me a water and that was the last time anyone checked on me for about 15 minutes. My server, Tyrone, walked up to his other table a good three times and spoke with them, brought them their check, and made sure they were taken care of. But me? Tyrone couldn't give two effs about me. He did not acknowledge me once and say hello, that he was busy, or that he would be right with me. And that's unfortunate because I promptly spoke with someone else and informed them of the situation before leaving. I didn't even want their free food. Their service is piss poor and I would rather eat food court food from the mall than be ignored and treated like I don't exist because that is unacceptable in the service industry. Hopefully this serves as a cautionary tale and this place can get their act together or they're going to have others walk out as well. read more

Probably some of the worst service I have experienced in a while. I didn't have high expectations so the bar was low...and they didn't even come close. Came in at 5pm and wasn't busy at all. Host acted like it was a huge inconvenience to seat us. Then we sit for 15 minutes before any comes for a drink order and only after we ask if anyone will come. They come and take drink Order and we order at the same time. Fairly quickly food comes. Well, some of the food. Most sides are missing, gravy for CFS is missing and no utensils or napkins yet. We ask for them and 5 minutes later, utensils are brought, no napkins or sides. we ask again and again, 5 minutes later napkins are brought, no sides. By now the CFS is cold. Finally sides come but still no gravy. One side is a baked potato that is now not even warm. Then another 5 the gravy comes. I get that the person was busy but they were only busy because they couldn't bring everything at once instead of making many trips. Just insane. The 2 stars are because the food was actually good or at least I assume it was good if it was warm. Amazing how just basic foodservice could elevate it to 5star read more

If only we could give negative reviews. Allow me to begin by saying that the food was good, no complaints there; however, the service we received from waitress, Madyson, was quite simply the WORST Cracker Barrel service we have ever received at any CB establishment across the US that we have visited. When we arrived, there was no host at the host stand and an older lady came over from the retail store to attempt to sit the people at the wait stand. After seating 2 single diners, our party of 4 was about to be seated when Madyson rudely came up to her coworker and told her to go on, that "they" had it and rolled her eyes at her. I should have known what was about to transpire. Sure enough, we were graced with Madyson as our waitress. She was polite enough to start until our food came out. My wife ordered a breakfast item with biscuits and gravy. I ordered a lunch item. Madyson brought my corn muffins and my wife's biscuits and gravy in a serving basket. When my wife asked for her biscuits and gravy, Madyson flippantly pointed to the basket, acting like we were stupid for asking. When asked how she was to eat her food, she shrugged her shoulders and when asked for a plate, Madyson rolled her eyes, said SURE! And threw her hands and shook her hand all the way back to the kitchen so we could obviously see her. When she finally came back, my wife asked her why it was a big deal to get a plate and what her attitude with her was about. Madyson proceeded to "mansplain" to us that we had interpreted how she served us our food wrong and were acting like we were accusing her of giving us the wrong food. My wife told her that she simply wanted a way to eat her food and Madyson rolled her eyes, said yeah, okay, and walked off. Never came back to refill a drink, check on us other than to walk by, ask if we were okay while never stopping as she walked. We paid our bill and requested the manager, to which a nice man named Trace came out. He listened to this story, said he would talk to Madyson and apologized for her since she had never offered an apology. If you go to this restaurant, I would no hesitate to eat the food, but I would be on high alert if a younger girl with glasses and a name badge of MADYSON attempts to serve you. I would immediately ask to be moved to a different section unless you don't mind being talked down to like a child. You ruined my damn shirt! First off, I don't care how few servers are there (it wasn't that busy), you make sure each table has silverware when they're sitting down- NOT shortly after the FOOD comes! That's also when the drinks came, by the way! We were sitting there with a 9 year old saying she was thirsty and we had to wait for dinner for the water? Really?! I got bored went shopping where I bought a sweatshirt and a mug. What I couldn't see was a SECURITY DEVICE ON THE SHIRT! It didn't even set off any alarm on the way out, it can't be removed, we live an hour away passing through, and I don't even have a car! You ruined my $45 sweatshirt by not doing your damn job and removing said security device! The food was very mediocre but I wouldn't have minded if they hadn't forced me to throw a $45 shirt in the damn trash! I placed an online catering order for my office lunch to be picked up at 10:45; however, I did not receive my food until 11:45. I placed the order Friday to be ready by Tuesday, so ample warning of my arrival was given. When I arrived, I followed the prompts sent to my phone, and waited until 11:10 to go inside and inquire (I understand having a busy restaurant). At that point the hostess told me to move my car to the back door and my order would be out soon. A manager approached my car and told me it would be right out. After waiting until 11:30, I let her know that my order was 45 minutes late. I waited until 11:47 to get my food. When I arrived back to the office, my order was missing two orders of corn, and the mac and cheese was burnt. Not only was this an epic waste of company hours, but it was an epic waste of money. I called the manager, and she assured me she'd call me after the lunch rush... I guess the lunch rush lasts until 7:35 pm because I have not heard back.
