I guess I just need to stop giving Cracker Barrel "another chance" and stop going all together. As someone who looked forward to CB during family vacations as a kid and numerous trips across the country as an adult, I cannot tell you how disappointed I am with today's product. I stopped in today to get a box of corn muffin mix and thought I would try breakfast one more time. I was seated back in the corner behind 6 people and my waitress was completely disinterested in her job. I ordered the two egg breakfast and it was disgusting. There was only one egg on the plate, the hash brown casserole was just potatoes, the gravy was cold and without flavor, and the biscuits were harder than any puck they use in the national hockey league. I don't know what has happened to this chain that was once a staple of Americana. I am done and will never eat at a CB again unless there are wholesale changes to the business. First time we were disappointed with Cracker Barrel. The new corporate changes finally hit this location. Much smaller portions. Different ingredients. Nothing tasted the same. Extremely bland. They gave us half the amount of servings as usual. We definitely won't be coming here as often. First time going to a Cracker Barrel! I had heard so much hype, so admittedly expectations where high when they really shouldn't have been. First off, the store. I had heard so much about the store but it turned out to not be what I expected! I thought the store would mostly have Cracker Barrel themed and branded items, like Cracker Barrel toys, picture frames, ornaments, clothing, etc. But instead, it's just a regular gift shop. They even had a section for Harry Potter items! I was a bit let down there. We were seated right away for breakfast, and our server was nice and quick. The food came out really fast, too! We had: - vanilla latte (terrible, it tasted like it came out of a machine and had no latte foam or art. I was expecting higher quality) - Peach pancakes (not good. I thought it would be sliced peaches and little bit of syrup, but instead the pancakes were DRENCHED in peach juice like a soup) - sausage - eggs - biscuits and gravy (not my thing) Overall, I was disappointed but again, my expectations were high and it was my first time. Not very busy this evening so we shouldn't have encountered any issues but unfortunately we did. I had the steak with broccoli. Steak had little to no flavor, very oily and the broccoli was not cooked all the way and not hot. My mom got there St Louis style ribs which is their summer special. Barely any meat, more bone & cartilage than anything. Green beans and broccoli cold. Biscuits were stale from sitting all day. Barely seen the waitress. When she finally came back after we were done, she asked how everything was. We explained and showed her the issues. All she could say was yeah sometimes it's like that. Waitress had no sense of wanting to be there. Got up front and and when asked how we would rate today we said 0. Manager did not seem to care about the experience we had. Only took off drinks. Crazy to think that a manager wouldn't want to do more than that. It was clear that none of the employees wanted to be there. No smiles and the atmosphere here was poor. We arrived at 6 on Thursday to order the Turkey special on Thursday. They were OUT of this Thursday special. I decided my second choice and they were out of that meat loaf too. They were not super busy but I noticed other guests were all waiting a long time to get their food. My fried pickle appetizer took 25 minutes and no bread came till food was served after 45 minutes of sitting on hard wooden chairs. Top it off my mashed potatoes were cold and wife's green beans were cold and her pot roast had a lot of fat and only two carrots. We have given them 5 stars before. We have been here several times as a family but found ourselves needing a place on short notice for our large party to meet for breakfast ahead of the holiday. I called on Monday to ask about reservations but they said we didn't need one, they just asked we call about half an hour before we arrived to give the staff the chance to arrange the tables. As directed, I called and advised our 20 person party was going to be descending upon them shortly. When we arrived, they were mostly ready for us. Another party was having a more leisurely breakfast and we were waiting for them to leave. There is never really an issue killing time during a 5-10 minute wait because of the endless browsing options in the country store. There are always so many fun things to look at, especially around the holidays. With a bunch of little kids in our group, we were luckily able to be seated before the first denied merchandise purchase related meltdown occurred. The bigger kids were a little bummed the checkers weren't out in the front with the rocking chairs. Our servers were Deb and Alana and were incredibly efficient in taking everyone's orders. The new (or new to us) ordering system they have was a major improvement from the last few times we went. Deb and Alana were very pleasant and attentive. We always worry that we're such a daunting task to take on but they handled it like champs. Food wise, we were all pretty happy with what we ordered, with just one exception of the bacon. Didn't stop us from eating it, it was just overcooked and seemed a lot smaller than the thicker, more seasoned version we were more accustomed to receiving in the past. Biscuits and gravy, my personal favorite, were delicious per usual. Kids were all happy with possibly their new favorite, the confetti pancakes. We will no doubt be back in the future. read more

Just had an average breakfast for one, and the total including tip was $30. 13.99 for BYO Homestyle Breakfast, which basically was just two eggs and some sourdough toast Add 3.99 for country ham; not sure why this was not included. And it was only a 4 oz. piece. Add 0.99 for hash browns, again should be included. 3.99 for a cup of coffee. Tax of 1.97 Tip - 5.00 Total - $29.93 Food quality was OK. So my friend and I decided to eat here for lunch as we were nearby and was craving some old country style food. We came at 1230pm and restaurant was not busy so was seated right away. We checked out the lunch menu and decided on chicken and biscuits for me and my friend had the cheesy broccoli chicken. We had corn bread and biscuits in the side. My chicken and biscuit was borderline cold room temperature.and my friend's meal was same. I asked the waitress if she could nuke it in microwave for few minutes which she did. It wasn't any better. Food was also bland. My hash brown casserole was dry crunchy and no flavor. My friend thought her meal was ok and we each had pieces of each other's food. She felt same with my meal. Overall it was terrible. I was polite so didn't want to say much but both agreed we are not eating here again. It's terrible y'all. The one star is for the service as the waitress was decent. We order in a lot from CB and the new campfire chicken started out so juicy and delicious. But today, the small thigh (usually breast) looked like a pidgin. Scrawny and puckered. Almost no edible meat at all. And the backed potato was microwaved worse than when I do it. Of course this cost the same. My husband's reaction to the ribs was - they were edible. Theres nothing to say about Cracker Barrel;, it's just a chain that makes really good pancakes. In some places, you will get good service, and in others, it will be terrible. I usually never complain about food, however my experience was so bad that I downloaded yelp to try to warn others so they don't have the same experience I did and maybe the staff will see this and make improvements. I Just left. The service took forever just to place my order, 30 minutes just to place the order and waited another 30 for the food. Then I finally took a bite of the shrimp and it tasted dead and lifeless and lukewarm. I don't know how to explain it but it tasted like rigger mortis, lifeless cold and still. I immediately spat it out. I microwaved it to hopefully cook it some more but it didn't help. Cracker Barrel is kind of a mixed bag. Some stuff there is awesome, other things not so much. Things I like: They are only seating every other table - covid compliant. Staff is friendly. Chicken and dumplings are good. Side dishes are good. Raspberry lemonade is awesome. Things I don't like: Their fish fry is HORRIBLE. Seriously. You're better off buying frozen fish sticks at the grocery store. There is ZERO social distancing in their retail store. Was very excited to try this place but not so pleased. They have a great combos with enormous type of sides options. We tried country fried chicken which comes with 4 pieces along with 2 sides and biscuits + cornbread. All just for ~$15. Appreciate their prices and the array of options but taste is missing. Fried okra side was soggy and nothing special. It had no spice and tasted blund. Fried chicken was just okay. It tasted so great. However, it was not oily. Biscuits and cornbread are nice though. I would visit again but definitely not try fried chicken. I would like to appreciate the amount of honey , butter and sauces which they give in the togo packets. read more

As I have heard about this place but never tried it! Today we were going for breakfast! It was packed. We went on a small wait for about 15 mins. They take your name and phone number. Shortly after I got a text message saying my table was ready! Very clever. I do like the fact that you have to pass through the counrty store to get to the restaurant. Our waitress Emily was nice. She was busy but did just fine. Things came fast! I tried the Sugar Plum Mimosa and the Bacon and Egg Hashbrown Casserole! Both were surprisingly delicious. I also loved that the menu was affordable! Good value for what your getting. Only thing i didnt like was my biscuit. It was really dry. I added butter and marion blackberry jelly that still didnt help. Oh well! I came here for dinner when I was visiting Phoenix. You check in, walk around the store looking at items you don't really need, then get seated. The food is comforting and filling. I ordered the meatloaf, which was good overall, but found a small piece of bone or something inedible. The beans as a side dish were canned and tinny and total trash. Service was good overall. You could just people watch all day the different customers coming in and out of that place. I went to the Cracker Barrel in Chandler Arizona for dinner tonight with my family. I ordered the Sunday special which was Pot Roast. You can see the attached picture which includes the advertisement for the meal on the Cracker Barrel website and what I was served. It is clear they were pretty skimpy on the vegetable and pot roast. My waiter to his credit offered to bring me more vegetables. But to be honest that would not have made a huge difference. The main problem with the meal, aside from the lack of vegetables and pot roast, was that the "savory beef broth" along with the vegetables and pot roast were tasteless and very bland. The meal just did not have any flavor. A warning: If you go to the Cracker Barrel on Sunday night DO NOT order the pot roast. I did taste the meatloaf my son ordered and the Sunday homestyle chicken my wife order and both tasted very good. read more

Horrible service seating didn't take long, but there was an odor when you entered not sure if it's the wood or what. The waitress was so confused when she asked me I wanted for sides she must have heard something completely different she originally asked how I wanted my eggs cooked I told her well done and bacon well done, she comes back with an order of biscuits and gravy WHAT ??? I said I didn't order this, and she said yes you did I replied, "Don't you recall the conversation about how I wanted my eggs cooked ? First - we have been traveling in our campervan for six years but it was only this year that we took advantage of "camping" in a Cracker Barrel parking lot. Twice so far in a month, both times to escape weather. We are very grateful for this amenity. Hubby loves a traditional American breakfast so we came in shortly after they opened at 7 am. Admittedly I am not a fan of this type of food but have come to enjoy their blueberry pancakes and appreciate that I could order two as three would have been too much.
