My son had not arrived yet so I sat at the bar for a glass of wine. A middle age waitress rushed ti me with a menu and paper covering. I told her that I was just sitting here for a glass of wine awaiting my son and with a tinge of agitation, she said, "I thought u eat here". She snatched the paper away so I said I would just sit at a table holding she wasn't my waitress. I asked if she could bring the wine to the table. Her response, " Yea but I thought you eat here..." as she oddly stood there with a grimaced look holding the paper mid air. Guess who brought my wine? UGH. Oh well, when my sin arrived, we both ordered a pound of snow crab bags each both with an extra potato. The 1 pound orders come with a potato and 1 half ear of corn. He got what he asked for with what looked like an extra crab claw, but less the extra potato. I got 1 and a half king crab legs and 1 potato...no corn. Not wanting to annoyed my waitress as I had obviously did earlier, I asked the only gentleman server who seemed most interested in watching a football game the entire time if I could speak to a manager. I mean, that's what I typically do when my order is incorrect. He said that there's no manager as he rushed to get back to the Seahawks/Redskins game. I get it, I brought my laptop to Walmart just yesterday to watch the 53 yard pass that won US a game the day before. BEAR DOWN! The only difference was that on tonight, I was at dinner in this night, not work. IJS. I digress. My waitress came over, annoyed needless to say, and I mentioned the error to her and she insisted that king crab is what I ordered. I've never tried and have never had the desire to try king crab legs, but ok. She asked if I wanted a snow crab and I said sure but please be sure I got my corn and extra potato this time. She answered, ok, ok, and scurried off (I didn't quite hear the second ok clearly but assumed that's what she said). She returned with my order...again, no corn. I get my bill and to my surprise this order was $153 for 2 glasses of wine, 2 snow crabs and.1 extra potato. I asked about the bill and she said (again with her bad attitude) "I ask you if you want me to take the king crab back and you say no". I responded, "I said no because it would have got thrown away anyway. Because my entire order was wrong I didn't expect to get charged for it. What would you have done with the order other then throw it away anyway?" Her response, "It's MY choice what I can do". Needless to say, my tip was to "Say no to drugs". Did anyone else get the fork on the floor because Crackin Crab certainly didn't know what it could have meant. I jokingly placed a fork face up on the floor next to me earlier that night. I'm not THAT PERSON and have/will never claimed to be. I just wondered if they had a clue. It got swept up with the trash by another worker so obviously they didn't get it. That cruise ship would have moved along like a speed boat with some not so nice comments the next day. Aside of the snow and king crabs being a bit smaller than I'm used to being from Chicago, the food was pretty good. A double bag may have kept the butter melted longer but, oh well. It was a little busy, but we were waiting to order drinks for a few minutes. After waiting 30 minutes for a table, we were pretty thirsty!! We ordered oysters as an appetizer, and a standard boil. The oysters came out quick, but unfortunately so did our dinner! The waitress left it in the bucket while we enjoyed our oysters. They were very good!!! Then we did not know what to do!! I said I was just going to dump it, but my date wanted me to wait. We waited about ten minutes until I said screw it and dumps the bag. The food was delicious! Not too spicy, very hot!! We were misinformed about the difference between the King Crab vs the Snow Crab. It's about @ $40 difference in price per pound. The first time we are here, we had ordered Snow Crab which is just the smaller version of the King Crab and what we had intended on getting the second time around. There is a language barrier with the waitresses being able to properly explain the menu. You must read the market price on the napkin holder, for the pricing per pound for what you order is not on the menu. We should have asked more questions before ordering. My kids were so dehydrated I had to take them to the hospital! I just called to talk tot he manager and she said they couldn't refund us or do anything except get a doctors note saying it was from their restaurant and they would pass it to their lawyers! I was so impressed by the smell when I walked in, but so disappointed by the dirty shrimp in my seafood bag. What kind of seafood restaurant doesn't 1) devein their shrimp or 2) overcook shrimp? Terrible stuff. I saw the option to pay extra to have the shrimp already peeled, but I did not expect for them to simply boil veined shrimp. And since they were overcooked, trying to peel them resulted in mushy shrimp. The potatoes had no flavor. The fix to that? Red potatoes, not whatever they got going on in here. The sausage was great and the crab was good, just wish the seasoning was better incorporated with the butter. I had to scoop up clumps of seasoning just to get the taste of anything other than butter in my bite. My son and I enjoyed dinner here recently. We had a great evening together, but two people may not be the proper number to fully enjoy this place! It's a seafood boil, so you have a lot of control in ver your meal. You pick the seafood delights, you pick any seasoning, and you choose your heat level. As such, you can't really complain if you don't like your meal... The service was fine but a little slow. However, I think this was due to limited staffing. The space is open and as such is a little loud, but we went for fun so it was fine. It was a good experience and we enjoyed the food! We just had a hard time finishing it as we ordered too much. Our go to place for seafood boil. Service was ok this time around. We were seated and orders taken. Then 10 mins later was asked to move seats "for a larger party". Which was kinda annoying. We moved anyway and got our food shortly after. The "large party" wasn't seated til literally right before we left. First and foremost I'd like to start by saying the restaurant is clean and well lit, the bathroom was clean, the tables had paper on them for a proper get down. However I can not say the food was any good. I ordered the #2 net catch that includes Snow Crab, Shrimp, Scallops, and Black Mussels. The crab legs and shrimp were small. I am not a fan of black mussels but the waitress told me I could not substitute for green mussels which is only $1 more per pound on the menu, that s**t sounded silly to me but it's all good. I had my bag with crackin sauce, mild which I thought would be the best choice for flavor and a light spice. Boy was I wrong the sauce was Hella oil and salty as s**t, it lacked flavor and was just flat out trash. The Catfish was over cooked and also lacked seasoning. I love me a good cajun seafood boil restaurant and I look for 'em almost every business trip. I was surprised to find Crackin' Crab's Yelper reviews mixed, but I am happy to report I had a solid experience and enjoyed the food! WINGS Coming off of my ROC Crab & Wings (from DFW area; see 8-10-19 review), I was a bit shy on the heat levels. I thought I'd start with the wings coated in Crackin' Hot sauce to check. The wings were crispy and their "hot" sauce was a typical heat level for most seafood boil venues. I did not enjoy the oil-to-spice mixture balance. When my wings arrived, they looked glorious and were crispy, but they sat in a pool of oil with only a thin layer of spice paste covering the bottom. The lack of blue cheese to dip brought the experience down a bit, but that wasn't as impactful as when I tried to scrape up the hot spice mixture. Due to the amount of oil, most of the spice slid off the wings. SEAFOOD This was not the case when I received my bag of boiled shrimp and crab, however, so I understand that the sauce is constructed primarily for their seafood. In that respect, the sauce works well! I wish I had ordered a higher heat level, but the meal was solid. STAFF I interacted with three different waitstaff, and I will say each conversation was succinct and to the point. Felt like all business in this venue, and not because it was busy. Overall, Crackin' Crab is a solid addition to the cajun seafood boil genre. We ended up taking a picture of what they were out of, since the host left us that the front. She on the other hand helped us decide and then kept our cups full. Food: the food was great! Ooo my goodness this was an experience! We came here with a couple of friends who had been before and recommended it. This was my first time ever trying a seafood boil and it was amazing. We were lucky enough to get a table right away on a Sunday afternoon. The place it's self is pretty simple, with dining indoors and out and following the distancing protocols. The staff is friendly and attentive. Our group consisted of 4 adults and we went 2 baskets of Cajun Fries and the Seafood Grill Fam Pack. We got it medium spice and this was enough for us! It came with snow crab, mussels, scallops and scrimp! All of this was delicious but while the crab is good next time we're going to skip it and just get more of the scallops and shrimp. Everything comes in a super hot bag filled with butter and spicy seasoning, plus a buckets. This is a hands on experience and it gets messy! We ordered it with medium crackin' crab sauce. It was frankly mouth- watering delicious. The seasoning was flavorful. I would say that it was spicier than I expected so be prepared. But the spice was well worth the flavor. Seafood was not rubbery and very tender. We also had the fried calamari which was crunchy and again flavorful. Very expensive and incredibly messy. We needed to go home and take a shower afterwards. The crab was good, but a lot of hard work to get very small amounts. I would have preferred steamed crab that didn't have all of the sauce causing it to be so slippery and hard to crack. The scallops, corn and sausage were all good, and the oysters on a half shell were delicious. It was just a lot of money to spend for what you get. We normally go to Seasons52 and it generally is less expensive there for more and better quality food. If you simply LOVE crab and love to get messy, then this is the place for you. Although the place isn't one for ambiance, the food and service make up for any other shortcomings. We got the catch which included snow crab legs, headless shrimp, green mussels and scallops. I lived on the gulf coast for 10 years before moving to ABQ. And let me say, Crackin Crab can hang with the best! I'm so glad this new location opened up to close to my house.
