We love this place! We specially go for the seafood boils. We've ordered the gumbo and hush puppies for appetizers. We all get combinations of seafood in our boils, but mostly pick shrimp, crab legs, mussels, and andouille sausage. We pick all of the seasoning flavors and keep it at a medium spice level. I've had the fire before and it was a little too hot to enjoy your food at the same time. I am definitely giving the food a 5 star rating. The service and seating I would give a 4 star. I've been on nights where the dining room is full and when it's empty. The service was slow on both occasions. Looking forward to more seafood boils from this place! My friend & I happened upon a soft opening for this new restaurant today, Saturday, 1/18/2020. They are officially set to open on Monday, January 20th. The Cracking Crab is located in the old Romano's Macaroni Grill location on the exterior of Cordova Mall, next to Red Robin. We were instantly greeted by the bartender/manager. He asked if we wanted to sit at the bar or restaurant side. We said the restaurant side. He was friendly. He came and checked on us during our meal. A host then took us to our table. He was very friendly. Then our sever came. We both asked for water and sometime to look over the menu. I decided on the Fried Shrimp basket. My friend ordered the Crab Cake basket. I ordered sweet potato fries for my side and also added a side of coleslaw. My friend ordered a side of cajun fries. The decor was pretty nice. It is an underwater theme with all kinds of fish all over. They have a water feature that changes color. On the other side of the water feature, you can see the kitchen. Also, they had 4 TVs in the restaurant area showing different channels. Finally, our food came. The fried shrimp were very good. They were lightly battered and had a buttery taste, kind of like shrimp scampi. The sweet potato waffle fries were good except they weren't served hot so they cooled down fast. The coleslaw was good but a little sweet. I had to add some ground pepper to break up the sweetness. My friend liked his crab cakes and cajun fries. I sampled a piece of crab cake and a couple cajun fries. They were both pretty good but I'm glad I ordered the fried shrimp as it tasted better to me. The server was just a little slow. She had about 3 other tables of 2 besides us. My friend asked for a side of ranch and had to re-ask for it because she forgot it. She apologized. Overall, this was a really good place to eat. Even though it was just a soft opening, it went pretty smoothly. I believe this is a chain as I saw there was some other Cracking Crab restaurants in New Mexico when I looked online. I'll be back to try the shrimp seafood boil and the tomato soup with maple-candied bacon. My friend wants to try the gumbo. read more

Hours are posted on the door stating they are open until 2130. We arrived at 2100. We waited for 5 to 10 minutes at the "Wait to be seated sign" while an employee was on the phone. Finally another employee showed up and asked if we wanted to do take out or dine in? We responded that we would like to dine in She then stated they were only doing take out. A total waste of time. Review Time: Cracking Crab Seeing that we live in seafood heaven, I'm always on the search for some delicious crab legs and shrimp. I have seen a few positive reviews on here about this restaurant. I'm still in shock that Macaroni Grill closed down from this location, but it seems the table set up has not changed very much. Once you walk in through the doors, you definitely get hit with a strong seafood boil aroma. Our server was absolutely fantastic. She was even kind enough to ask my husband if he was military, which provides you with 10% discount. She was consistently checking on us, and our glasses of sweet tea never went below half full. I absolutely love calamari, so we decided to give their's a try. This calamari was absolutely fabulous, which was extremely fresh, tender, and lightly battered. I would come back to eat this frequently, just as a snack. We decided to share the Combine em 1b snow crab and 1b shrimp dressed in the medium special sauce, which comes with corn and potatoes. The shrimp were extremely delicious and pre-cleaned. The snow crab was good, but probably not the freshest. The meat was slightly soft and lacked in flavor, but maybe today was just one of those off days. The corn was not the freshest either, but dredged in the special sauce it was okay to eat. I did love these red potatoes in the special sauce, so no salt, pepper, or butter was needed. I will say their special sauce is amazing, and the medium spice was perfect. The medium spice level packed just enough punch to where you could still enjoy the flavor of the food. I was in the Cracking Crab (at Cordova Mall) on Saturday, August 7, 2021 with my wife. We ordered our food and they forgot to put our boiled eggs and sausage in the seafood bag. We called our waitress over and she tried to take our food to the kitchen. I said no, just bring it to us in another bag please. She did. While trying to eat, the food was way too spicy. We contacted one of the male managers. I said I think we got the wrong order because of so much spice. He said he was sorry, they would do a re-make, and asked what spice level we wanted? We said none, just butter and garlic. We gave him back the seafood bag after pouring the food we had on our plates in it, the plates and silverware to him to discard. The waitress returned later with a new bag of seafood. We opened the bag and to our surprise noticed it was the same food we thought they had discarded. Upset, I asked for the head manager. He came over and I told him what was done. He calmly said that when it's a spice level complaint, they take the food back , rinse it off and return it to the customer. I said, Why are you treating us like dogs? You shouldn't do that due to C-19 virus and cross contamination. He did not care and acted like it was a common practice of their restaurant. We got sick to our stomachs. I told him to eat it! We left immediately. My wife worked in food service for over 10 years. She said she would never give back bad food to customers. She simply had her employees make it over correctly and gave it to the customer. If this is common in Pensacola, Florida, I will gladly dine in Alabama where I live.
