I am back in town from Pittsburgh for Thanksgiving. I moved about 6 months ago. I had to come here while I am visiting as this is my favorite new restaurant. I came here for lunch and this place has not missed a beat. Our server was amazing and explained the menu and seasonal items. I had the Mezcal Negroni and my friend had the Carmel Apple Daquiri to start our lunch. I am on vacay so I am okay with day drinking. lol. We shared the Figs with Brie, Walnut and Balsamic. What a flavor combination and an incredible way to start our lunch. We both had the Craft Burger, which happened to be Half Off! What an amazing surprise. I still say, this burger is the best in the burbs. It is elevated simplicity. You don't need a shovel to get this in your mouth. It is a classic burger with elevated ingredients. I ordered a second cocktail, the Pomegranate Margarita. Both cocktails were fantastic. Our entire experience from start to finish was fantastic. I love this place and will continue to come back when I am in town. Come here for the cocktails as a night cap, or come here for some amazing food and drink. You will not be disappointed. read more

It had been a while since we dined here and we are so glad we decided to return last night for dinner. The food was delicious: onion dip and homemade potato chips, smoked salmon spread with pumpernickel toast, not your mom's meatloaf, and chicken and dumplings. Our server, Dana, was knowledgeable, personable, and efficient. The vibe was energetic, yet comfortable. The only detractor from an otherwise perfect dining experience was the delay in getting our drinks in a timely manner. We were almost half finished with our entrees before the bartender poured our wine. That said, we loved our meal and look forward to returning soon. read more

I am sitting here with my sister now and Oh em GEEZ! Yes, it's a bit late, but we were seated right away and greeted by a super hip, fun, attentive, knowledgeable waitress named Julia! The food is out of this world. I love the farm fresh to table concept. We ordered a variety of appetizers and desserts while we wait for homemade ramen night. Nice, casual atmosphere. I liked the mural and decor. I had the shrimp and grits and they were great. Shrimp were good size, cooked perfectly. Grits were super cheesy and tasty. Came with a side salas which balanced the plate well. We also had the short rib burger, and it was fantastic. Juicy, seasoned well, fries were also very good. Wednesday half price for glass of wine. I had a pinot and good news, its served in a lovely glass, perfect for pinot. I couldn't read the maker. I think a good wine glass makes for a more enjoyable experience. May just be me. Also had a nice selection of craft beer. We finished with the chocolate mousse, smore. It was very rich and pretty good. I'm not sure why I didnt enjoy it more. Maybe if it was a warm pudding or something more was done with the Graham crackers besides breaking them into bits. Didn't detract much from the meal. Service was good. I like a little more interaction, but that's my personal preference. I would definitely recommend to friends and plan on going back. read more

Strange to see a trendy restaurant in the middle of a quiet, mostly residential neighborhood...but that's Geneva. I was pleasantly surprised to see it had a parking lot and we didn't have to walk in the 7 degree temperature that night. We made a reservation for a Sunday night for 6:30. It was pretty empty and we were perplexed why any later time was not available when we reserved. It never suddenly filled up. Anyway, I was so happy because this place had all of my unique favorites; fondue, lobster roll, risotto, figs/brie, truffle fries...pretty much everything on the menu I wanted. So for that reason to get my fix I will return! Not to mention the food was pretty good. We ordered the fondue appetizer and the fondue-averse husband was suddenly eating it. I also had truffle fries that came with a weird, mayo tasting sauce (so I asked for ketchup) and the risotto of the day. That day it was pumpkin with an egg on top. See, I told you, so unique! The risotto was a little bland, I maybe would have opted for some shaved Parmesan or more pepper on top (but no salt and pepper shakers on table). Yet it was still appreciated warm, filling, yummy comfort food. We had drinks too, very tasty and the Manhattan very strong. (as it should be). We were celebrating a special milestone and the owner accommodated a special request without blinking an eye which was so nice!!!! We have a son that is celiac. This restaurant completely accommodated him!! This never happens. Almost everything on their menu can be made gf. Chicken and waffles whatever you want. They have gf Fryers and were careful not to contaminate his food. Not to mention the food is SO GOOD. Drinks too. Service is also stellar. Bartender, Mike and server Hundley go above and beyond. Went here on a late Sunday afternoon. First the positives - place has good ambience & good music & our server was efficient. The issue was the food. We began with cheese curds and they were OK but not as tasty as some we've had elsewhere. The entrees were seriously lacking. My pork chops (nicely presented in an artistic sort of way) were no less than 90% fat & gristle and totally inedible. I brought the remains home to feed my dogs but had to throw out quite a bit because they were too fatty even for them. My husband's chicken was also presented nicely but was lacking in taste. I may consider going here again for a glass of beer or a drink but never again for a meal. Too bad because Geneva needs a place like this and it could be great. They tout "local" and if they truly want to be I suggest they get their meat from one of the great local meat markets we have in the area because I've purchased and cooked far better food than what we had when visiting this place. read more

We finally were able to visit Craft Urban and it was a delightful trip. Brought our 6 yr old and Joe behind the bar made him feel like a million a bucks! His adult drinks will make you feel the same! I had the gin one and my wife had the tequila one. I'm definitely trying the old fashioned next visit. We shared the cheese curds and their evening special - soft shell crab served open faced sandwich style. Amazing flavors on both. Our little man had the hot dog and then we finished with the shrimp cocktail. Not your ordinary dip the shrimp, this was cut up shrimp, avocado, celery I think in a horseradish red sauce with cherry tomatoes. Served with fresh made chips. What we really appreciated was everything was made gluten free, even the fried stuff due to them using a rice based coating and not frying anything with gluten. Our server Angela took such good care of us on the patio too. We love downtown Geneva and this is just another reason to spend an evening there. Very disappointed! We were looking forward to a wonderful meal and this place fell very short. To start our drinks took over 10 minutes to get and it was only a glass of wine and a cocktail. We ordered the 5 layer taco dip and you mine as well called it chips and guacamole. Then we proceed to order a burger and a chop salad. The burger was raw! That's right raw! We ordered it to be medium and the center was still cool. We couldn't even eat it. We also ordered the chop salad which was not good. The dressing tasted sour and was a complete disappointment. So disappointed! Reservation for a party of 4. On a Saturday night. Place was 3/4 fully with a large party occupying several tables. We sat 5 minute before anyone came over to give us menus and pour water. Was told our server would be right over, another 5 minutes. Put in our drink orders, and it was another 15 minutes before the drinks were delivered. We ordered two apps that were quite good. Then again, our meals were delivered for 3 of us and several more minutes til the 4th was delivered. My husband ordered shrimp and grits. He said that while it was very good, it was lukewarm as If it had sat. My French fries were lukewarm as well. For the prices they charge, we could go to another local restaurant and get much better service. We won't be back. read more

Have to agree with several other reviewers. I was not blown away. Which surprised me because they have clearly put a lot of thought and effort into the place. I've often complained that we lack places with a cool vibe in the western suburbs. Although I'm newer to Geneva/Batavia/St. Charles area and I'm now finding quite a few. However, when I walked into this place, I thought this is exactly what I'm looking for. With that said, it seems more effort was put into the look and feel then into the actual food. We started with the Taco Dip. Sounded good. A new approach to a classic. Problem is, it didn't resemble a Taco Dip and was more of a Guacamole. Tasted good, but really wasn't what was described. Had the chicken sandwich. First bite was really tasty. After that, took several bites that had more fat than chicken. Another person had the burger which was really good. I've seen replies that say they have a lot to choose from. I really don't think so. It's a pretty limited menu. And yes, I get the farm to table. Have been to plenty of them. However, others I have tried have more extensive menus. Place just seemed more focused on creating a cool atmosphere than executing on what is important. The food! Worth a try. But with all the great restaurants in Geneva, probably not my go to. PS, another reviewer mentioned feeling rushed. The staff probably needs some training. There's a balance between being attentive and being pushy. It's a craft cocktail place. We were enjoying a cocktail. The waitress must have asked every 3 minutes whether we were ready to order. This is a cute location. The server and other workers were friendly. The food was just okay--not amazing but not bad either. I had the Craft urban burger and my husband had the butchers beef plate. The burger tasted better out of the two. His beef was a little bit on the harder side. The burger had a really good tomato sauce on it. read more

I really want to like Craft Urban, and have tried it a few times, but I just keep coming away feeling so-so about it. This time was particularly disappointing because before we had even ordered a drink, a waitress dumped a plate of half eaten fries and aioli sauce on us. The sauce got all over my boyfriend's coat, pants, and shirt. The waitress said a perfunctory "I'm sorry" and offered a rag with club soda, and nothing more was said about it. We didn't want to make a big deal about it because accidents happen and all, but really they ought to have offered some sort of compensation. If they had offered to cover our dessert or drinks, that would have been fine, but not acknowledging their mishap at all, was really bad form. My boyfriend and I went last night (friday) for their late night ramen. I was excited to have some late night comfort food that's close to home. We were sat promptly and waitress was nice. It was packed and loud so I had to move my chair from across the table to sit beside my bf so we can hear each other. He ended up ordering the brisket burger and I had the ramen. Brisket burger was average (needs a little salt). Now, for their ramen, it was beyond disappointment. Please don't claim that you have the "best" ramen in town in your website. As an Asian who grew up eating ramen, I felt robbed. The bowl came with broth halfway full and a mound of noodles (pretty stingy with the broth). I expected my noodles to be floating (whatever). Then there's potato chips on top (fine if they wanted to put a "twist"). didn't do anything visually and tasted like saggy potato chips. thin noodles are okay but thicker ones are better. no veggies, just onions (fine). Then, the broth. I wanted to cry because the broth is the key component of ramen that one shouldn't messed up on. Tasted like miso paste diluted in water. WHY?!! maruchan ramen has more savory broth than what I've had. and the cook/chef had the gall to topped it with meat that looked like ones they're using for corned beef sandwich for st. patty's. just no! If you're charging me $13 for ramen, you better deliver. So please do something to improve your "ramen" if you intend to keep it as your late fri and sat night specials. or just claim it as noodle soup; not ramen. Needless to say, we are not motivated to be back again & not recommending the place to family & friends. read more

Terrible food, high prices and dismal service! Sounds like a combination for failure. Taco dip was ok but was basically guacamole mixed with salsa and black beans for $10. Ordered my burger medium and came out Rare (hope I don't get sick tonight...) My wife ordered the Cobb salad which was really weird but ok. After hearing one of my friends rave about the ramen here, I decided to give it a try despite this being an American food establishment. The ramen starts being served at 8:30pm. We got there around 8:20pm and it took 40 minutes to get our food and were told multiple times it'd be up soon or was up next...our waitress didn't seem interested in serving or checking up on us at all. She took our order and handed off the food, not asking how it was while we were eating. I was starving after eating later than usual and dig into the ramen when it got to the table. The ham was amazing. Noodles were a bit soggy but edible. Egg was good, can't really mess that up. The broth was inedible. It tasted like boiled salt water. I ate everything but the broth due to not wanting to wait another 30 minutes for a replacement, which was a mistake. I brought up the taste to both the waitress that took my order and another waitress. I was gifted with a $10 casino chip that I could not use now but use when I 'came back'. Made my first and last visit to this restaurant. I was expecting a nice dinner with friends and came away extremely disappointed. We had a party of four and ordered a variety of dishes. Cheese curd appetizer was a harbinger of what was to come. Extra Small Portion. The Fish and Chips should be renamed Fish Cheek Meat and Chip. The portion of Halibut was covered up by a single leaf of Arugula. I could not find any more fish meat. The next dish was the Brisket Burger. We thought it was a Slider Appetizer meant for anther table. Again, Another small portion and tasteless. The Lobster MAC and Cheese was rejected by a sixth grader. How can you not impress a sixth grader with pasta and cheese??? Last dish was the Crabby Patties. Again. No comment from this patron as she went away extremely Crabby.
