I have always enjoyed the food from CreAsian. It's been my go-to Japanese restaurant during Covid. Especially because of the service and the conscientiousness of wearing masks when handling my food. I was very disappointed today when I went to pick up my food when I saw the Sushi Chefs wearing their masks beneath their nose and workers in the kitchen not wearing a mask at all. At these price levels I'd suggest making the trek north and at least get the value for what you'll pay. E.g. chirashi salad (basically a poki bowl with sauce for 30)... I will preface this saying that I will return to CreAsian to give them another chance but I have to rate them like a 3.5 due to the overall experience we had. My fiance and I just relocated up to the San Jose area for work and have been staying in Morgan Hill. We have been looking for somewhere for good sushi and were recommended CreAsian by a co-worker. We walked into the restaurant and it was pretty crowded with no open tables. We waited by the door and nobody acknowledged us for several minutes. Three servers walked past us multiple times and did not even look at us or say a word. We actually almost left but then one of the female employees said that we were the only ones waiting and it would be a few minutes. We were seated within 5 minutes of that and our server came to take our orders. He was very friendly and brought our drinks and food quickly. They started by giving us complementary miso soup which was a nice surprise. We ordered 3 specialty rolls and an order of gyoza. We had the gorilla roll, the screaming O and the Matthew roll. All the rolls had pretty decent quality fish and satisfied my sushi craving. The Matthew roll was really delicious and very interesting, topped with crushed macadamia nuts. The gyoza was tasty and crunchy. However, the only other constructive criticism is that once we ordered our 3rd roll, the female employee who sat us came to ask how we were doing and we said great. Next thing I knew, we had our check. At first I was worried they missed our order for the Matthew roll but she assured me it was on the way and I looked surprised she placed our bill on our table. We got our roll a few minutes later and it was very good but we just felt very rushed. I know there were many people waiting at this point (8:30pm) but what if we wanted dessert? We usually like to order dessert on a Friday night or Saturday night evening and I would think adding to our bill would be a good thing. Anyways, we left satisfied by the food and service from our waiter and the kitchen but felt rushed like they needed our table turned over as quickly as possible. I'm paying to eat here and just want to enjoy a nice relaxing experience, not pressured that I need to scarf my food or can't order anything else. But yet I got the tiniest piece of Unagi. Extremely disappointed in this that there was a tiny sliver of eel and such a tiny roll for what I paid. A California roll here is $7.... so why the heck did I pay $17 for what I should have been charged $7? Give the customer the portion they paid for. The chicken teriyaki was alright. CreAsian has always been my go-to Japanese restaurant in Morgan Hill. They have great sushi and nice thick pieces of sashimi (my favorite)!! The atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy, dim, and upscale. It's a little pricey compared to the other Japanese restaurants in MH but they usually come through with the quality of their food. My typical orders include the combo entree in which you can pick 3 items, a special roll (i love the screaming O lol), an order of sake maki (salmon rolls) or some tempura shrimp vegetables! They're all so yummy here. Today I ordered food for pickup around 6pm and the wait was about 35-45 minutes long. The food here is really good. Let's start with that. The restaurant is small and busy, so expect to wait outside, even if you have a reservation. I have, at times, walked right in and sat down, and on subsequent visits waited outside for a while. There's no telling when it will be busy, so just expect it to be. It seems like there aren't enough servers to handle the entire dining room, even though it's relatively small, as it can be filled to the brim with diners. Almost everyone has a sunny disposition, and is very kind when you're able to get their attention. Only once was our waitress outright dismissive, but I won't judge an entire restaurant based on what might have been one bad day. Now let's get into the food. The sushi here is excellent. While I would not rank it number one in my raw fish restaurant hall of fame, this is definitely a top five spot. Everything is very fresh. I judge sushi on the taste, texture, and freshness of their hanami, and my friends, this restaurant does it right. It's ALWAYS buttery smooth, fresh, and delicious. Choose a roll, any roll, and expect to be delighted. If you are one of the folks who are afraid of the raw stuff, they do have some fried and baked options that are also very tasty; HOWEVER, if you order one of these, expect your order to take a little longer, as they only have one small oven for the baked goods. All the waitresses were so nice they were attentive. I like how when we came up to be seated the waitress/hostess seemed genuinely happy to seat us. The food tasted fresh and delicious! The pricing was good for sushi, pretty standard. They had a lot of 8 piece roll options from $8 and up and they have special rolls from $14 and up. Overall I would go again! We have been coming here for the past year and half since moving to Morgan Hill. The location was ideal and I've heard good things about CreAsian. Our first visit was great! The staff was very friendly and the food was great! This is how I am going to break it down for you! Nigiri - What I usually get is a handful of different Nigiri that includes Eel, Salmon, Tuna, Hamachi, and now my new favorite... white tuna! The fish is always fresh and tender which is a priority of Chef John! Every bite is moist and full of flavor that is admirable. Rolls - there is a great selection of various rolls that cater to the folks who aren't big fans of the standard sushi rolls/nigiri. My wife is not a seafood fan, but does like Shrimp tempura and usually gets the Goblin roll with Lemon slices added. I'm a big fan of their rainbow row. Yaki Soba - the chicken or beef Yaki Soba is extremely tasty! It's not heavily saturated with sauce, but offers a nice combination of noodles, veges, and a light sauce topping. Highly recommended if you want an alternative to sushi. Soup- the Spicy Ramen is what they are mostly known for and I get it. It's AMAZING! The pork is nicely grilled and has a nice char to it, but the broth itself is really good. It's not too spicy, yet offers enough kick to satisfy. The soup also comes with seaweed and a few other vegetables. You'll thank me later if you order it! Lastly, the service! They know us by our first name now and have always treated us nicely! John who is one of the main chef's, he is always inventing new rolls and asking for our opinion. Plus it's always nice to share a shot of Sake with him! The rest of the crew is always helpful and accommodating, always making us feel like we are with family!
