I'll just say upfront I absolutely love this place. As a disclaimer though I've only been a few times and each time I've only gotten their fettuccini alfredo, which I think is delicious and creamy (just be sure to add extra Parmesan!) and it's the only thing I've gotten because it's so good. So I'll talk more about the restaurant itself. The atmosphere is so romantic- I love sitting out on their patio at night. Of the few times I sat inside it was really nice with how cozy the decor was along with the live music they had (it was a pianist this time). What a pleasant surprise! We headed for Cremona last weekend when I was in the mood for Italian and had yelp'ed some reviews. I was expecting your typical Uptown atmosphere - totally not that kind of experience, in a good way. We walked in about 8 pm, they were quite busy (duh!), and my nose was pleasantly assaulted by the aroma of garlic - probably my favorite smell in the world. We were seated and greeted quickly, and checked out the menus. My only "complaint" would be that the wines by the glass selection pretty much stinks. It is all house wine (no names on the menu) and while they are only $5.95/glass I'm usually willing to pay a little more for a decent glass that doesn't give me a headache the next day. You might be better off with a bottle. I ordered the shrimp scampi and honey had something I don't remember, I think it was Papa linguini? It had a bunch of shrimp and scallops in a spicy red sauce. Pretty tasty. My scampi was appropriately doused in butter and garlic. Heavenly. The salads with house dressing were also tasty and they bring you endless fresh garlic bread which I definitely was into. Our server was pretty casual in a cool way so no complaints there. I would definitely go back. I think the entrees were about $15 each including the bread and salad so it's certainly priced well! read more

How does this place not have better reviews? Is it not trendy/hipster enough? Hmmmph. I recently made a trip up to Dallas to stay with my sister and her husband who live in the Uptown area when one night we took a short walk over to Cremona after her husband did some quick yelping. We went around 6ish PM and were one of the maybe three tables there. I have nothing but good things to say. Our waiter provided impeccable service. The portions were huge as they should be, Texas + Italian, c'mon. The prices per dish were not bad either, less than 20 dollars for each meal. And the garlic bread served with the meals was off the chiz-ain. Waiter, round 2 please! Ooops... Chiz-ain, do people still say that? I'm obviously so untrendy. My brother in law highlighted that the Chicken Parmesan was one of the best he's had. My lasagna was delicious. Oh and how can I forget... Their house made tomato basil dressing! That was my favorite event of the meal. I scraped it off of the plate. It was like a cold, light tomato basil puree soup atop my salad. So good. Anyways it was a memorable wining and dining experience and the next time I'm back at my sister's place, I'm requesting a trip back to Cremona. read more

I hadn't been to Cremona since the old location, so on the search for something new, we decided to go last night and I realized how much I had been missing. Promptly greeted, we were seated in a charming corner table overlooking all the Uptown action. There is also a great patio. Fresh, crusty, hot garlic toast promptly arrived and I was hooked. Is it trendy/hipster italian..No. Is it good solid Italian..you bet. I had the Fettucini Cremona which was loaded with fresh mushrooms, peas and chicken. My husband had veal parmesan which was more than he could eat. Add a simple, but good house salad with amazing creamy garlic dressing and Cremona offers a great value in the Uptown dining scene. My four star reviewed is only diminished because of parking in the area being extremely difficult; on food and service alone, it would be a five! read more

I went on Saturday evening to a place that felt authentic and to live music. The atmosphere is exactly what I am looking for in an Italian restaurant. I ordered the chicken ceaser which was a 4 out of 5. The chicken was cooked perfectly and you could tell the dressing was made in house. My entree, fettuccine cermona with shrimp, though was another story. For a dish named after the restaurant I expected more. The shrimp was soggy as if they did not take the water out. The pasta itself was okay not too greasy, but nothing worth ordering again. Overall the atmosphere was nice, but it you are looking for authentic this isn't it. read more

I walk by Cremona all the time and had never checked it out, so the husband and I went there for dinner. The restaurant itself is pretty cool, you can tell it used to be a house and it's very charming on the inside. I ordered the Baked Ravioli, light on the meat sauce and they got it just right. I also got the side salad with the creamy italian but after trying my husband's caesar salad I realized I should have gotten that instead...just personal preference. The garlic bread was good too. My husband got the Chicken Rollatino and it was very rich and filling. The house wine was also very good, the pinot noir was on the fruity side which I enjoyed. I saw them cooking a pizza for someone, it made me want to come back and give that a try. Cremona turned out to be a great spot and I'll definitely return soon. read more

I celebrated my birthday there and the owner greeted us with a not so friendly welcome. And that ruined the dinner. The waiter was in a hurry to serve and get us out. What a disappointment. The food was ok. It could have been better. The drinks were somewhat watered down and extremely overpriced. So it will be a while before we return. Maybe it's because of Covid and they are rushing you in and out. Who knows. Regardless it's no way to treat any guess that have been come to this restaurant for years. I tried Cremona at the insistence of Tyre at Zoe's Kitchen (one of my fave lunch spots), who said it was a must-try for Italian. I braved the snow (this was last Thursday during snowpocalypse 2010) and I was not disappointed. It was the perfect warm, friendly atmosphere to step into. The garlic bread was homemade and served tableside, right from the oven. The wine selection was good and decently priced. I decided to order the Bolognese, because I feel that dish separates the men from the boys when it comes to Italian restaurants. The Bolognese was great, with a touch of sweetness, but not too rich. The parpardelle noodles were perfectly al dente. It was the ideal meal for a snowy, cold night. I am definitely planning a repeat visit! read more

Cremona holds a very special place in my heart, as I used to go there when it was at the Company Cafe location =) Cremona's menu hasn't changed since I started going there 7 years ago, and that suits me just fine. It's like food your Italian gramma would make for you =) My fave-- the tortellini italiano. I've deviated from this dish a few times and have been wonderfuly surprised, however, my comfort dish is the tortellini italiano. Checked out Cremona in their new location off McKinney Ave. Nestled in the Uptown area, this location should get more traffic other than regulars from the old location. The outside patio furniture absolutely does not match the interior's look and feel. But, hey why splurge on furniture that will only get dirty or stolen, right? Once you get inside, I suggest sitting along the front windows in the side hallway. Only fits two people per table but you are spared the loud noise from the dining room. Dim lighting with candles on your table, it is a nice atmosphere to bring a date that you've already gone out with a while (see noise comment above ... can impair the getting to know ya stuff). I've already been twice this week. Friendly staff and it's family run. I have stuck to the Trio Special: Fettuccine Alfredo, Mostaccioli, and Lasagna all on one plate. Served with white toasted bread...yummy and fresh. Consistency is the key here and I basically licked the plate clean each time. I will be a repeat customer. read more

This is the perfect little place for a romantic date night. The location is perfect as it is right on the shoulder of McKinney but is quite hidden on a small adjacent street. The food was handmade Italian and I have to say I quite surprised they didn't charge higher for the food quality. I can't begin to explain how amazing this place is. My fiance and I have been coming here for over 10 years, not only because of the food, but because of Sylvia and Ricardo. They have become family to us and treat us so well each time we go and we look forward to seeing them each time we go. We always have such an amazing time. Sylvia has done an amazing job at creating a relaxing family owned ambiance at Cremona, where one can feel at home while enjoying a DELICIOUS dining experience. Can't rate this higher than 5/5, but I would if I could. We have made it a tradition to go here for each of our birthdays each year, and will continue to do so. I've been coming here with my family for years and we LOVE this place! After church, it's a nice and close restaurant and has remarkable food. We got close to the owners wife and even if it's been nearly a year since we've been in, she remembers us. The bread is delightful and my whole family eats at least 4 pieces each. We all get something different. I usually stick with linguine alfredo or tortellini Italiano. But even if you're not feeling adventurous and just want spaghetti, it's to die for. The meals are large and can definitely fill you up. The atmosphere is so cute and very much reminds you of an authentic Italian bistro. If you're around in the area, stop by! read more

Just perfect!! We were actually going to go to another restaurant, but decided to do this in stead. We just wanted to eat lots of good Italian food, chill out on a Friday night, and sit and talk -- and if you're looking to do that, this is the place! We sat outside on the patio, which was perfectly shaded and had a great atmosphere. As a matter of fact, no one was inside. We got there around 730 on a Friday night, and there was NO WAIT! The garlic bread is wonderful! Our food was EXCELLENT!! We both had the specials that day -- he had the fish with lemon butter and capers, side of sauteed veggies and fettuccine pasta with a side salad, and I had the pasta sampler with penne (and some sort of creamy tomatoes sauce), fettuccine, and lasagna with a side salad. Like I said -- EXCELLENT!! Add a bottle of wine, a waiter that was attentive and not to obtrusive, and you have perfection! Here's why it didn't get 5 stars: It was a tad bit pricey, but I don't mind paying for good food. I'm also concerned that when it's busy, the service maybe a bit slow. I used to eat here back when it was some other italian place a few years back. The standout here, and I'm not being snarky, is the free parking lot, enclosed, by the patio. Parking is not always easy to find. Food: Decent bread. My entree was good but at this point (a couple of days later) I can't remember what it was. So it must not have been stellar. Drink: I had an Italian beer (peroni) which was in decent shape. My water glass was filled appropriately. Ambience: Some trophy wife types and a douche physician that preened in his Benz before coming in, then preened in the reflection of his cellphone's screen while he waited for his mistress, I presume. Staff: Pleasant. My server's Spanish (not Italian) accent was so thick that I had real trouble understanding him. We repeated most things 2-3x, and one bit 4x. And I am not a person that has trouble with or complains about strong accents. wifi: didn't check. bathroom: nestled way back in the back. You'll have to wander a bit behind the server's POS computer. Value: decent. I didn't feel cheated. Neighborhood sketch factor: not dangerous in the street thug sense, but you might get run over by cellphone-gabbing d-bags driving aspirational leased cars on their way to their ab workout. This little family restaurant was a nice respite to the hustle and bustle of the Uptown atmosphere. I ordered a salad here and perhaps it wasn't a very wise choice to stick to my diet. The portion wasn't great, the lettuce looked like it was wilted from the heat of the kitchen and the chicken on my dish was dry and..unimaginative. Sorry, Cremona. Just keepin' it real. What a let down. It seemed that every other plate that passed my table was AMAZING. But...My husband ordered the Spicy sauce spagetti and just loved it. It was not overly meaty and had the perfect blend of sweet tomatoes with a punch. Because he wasn't dieting, he also raved about the garlic bread and kept flagging down our poor waitress for more. I've been here a number of times, and I like the food here. But unfortunately this visit the waiter was exceedingly rude to me. He rather aggressively misgendered me - referring to me as "sir" seemingly every chance he had. I'm transgender, and I'm known, but I'd been here several times before and not had any problems - in the past everyone had been quite polite to me. I finally corrected him after he'd referred to me as "sir" for about the tenth time that evening, and our server just looked angry with me. I have a pretty thick skin, but my children were having dinner with me, and they were EXTREMELY uncomfortable with his behavior, so overall it was a pretty humiliating experience. There are plenty of restaurants that don't care whether or not I'm trans, and are just happy for my business, so I can't imagine that I'll visit this place again. Hey - if I really want to be insulted I can find people who'll do that for free! I'll certainly let other people I know in the LGBT community, particularly the trans community, know that we aren't welcome here. read more

Had not ventured into Cremona's in at least 4 years. My first visit to Cremona's was back in 1979 - when a friend of mine was one of the first to live on the "new" Routh Street in a rehab'd 4-plex, when the area was just being "discovered" for living. I remember we were headed for some place in the Quadrangle, and [somehow] ended up at Cremona's instead. Fate perhaps. Through the next many years, a visit to Cremona's was sort of a regular thing. The regularity might be once a month, twice a month, once every 2 months - but you get the picture - it was like going home. This was over 3 decades. The food and service were always excellent - and you always knew exactly what the dining would be about and it never disppointed. then the visits became once or twice a year, then once a year, then a few years passed. The restaurant has hardly changed in 30 + years - and that's a complement. It was authentic then, and it's authentic now.. Last weekend, after not having been for perhaps 3 - 4 years, maybe our longest absence ever, stopped in on Saturday night - had the same thing I have had for 30 years: Calamari, Small Caesar, Marsala Chicken, glass of wine. If you want an excellent authentic Italian meal, with excellent and friendly service, Cremona's is still it, Basic, yes, but what a basic it is. read more

***UPDATE: Cremona burned down 6/4/2008. *** When I read the other reviews for this place by other Yelp members, I was excited, then I looked at the pictures on their website and started becoming skeptical. It's not often that restaurants with cheesy decor have good food to make up for the lack of ambiance. However, in this case, the ambiance was tacky. It's decorated with old, flashing Christmas lights, plastic plants, and the "living" plants that are around make the place feel like a dying jungle. The first taste experience included overly buttered garlic bread with a tinge of fresh garlic and a very oily tomato basil salad that was sloppily thrown together. My main course was the chicken piccata. While it wasn't the worst I've ever had, it's wasn't the best either. The taste of the grilled chicken overwhelmed the dish and took away from the tastiness of the lemon butter sauce. Not to mention that this dish should be nearly swimming in capers but the chef apparently thought five would do. My date's dish was a little tastier: fettuccini milano. A heartier dish with tasty pieces of Italian sausage and a nice marinara sauce. Honestly, if you're looking for a cheap and cheesy and not very good place to take someone to eat, or to laugh about the awful interior design, this is the place to go. Places like Amore in Snider Plaza and Patrizio's in Highland Village offer tastier dishes in the same price range minus the awful surroundings and greasy/oily food. read more

Came to Cremona last night for dinner with my friends. The environment was beautiful great for date night but it felt kind of crowded, the parking space is just so compact someone hit their car door on mine. Luckily it was just a scratch cause I sure did take down their Licence plates :) but anyways the food was ok the garlic bread delicious, the wine selection was ok. I order the fettuccine Cremona it was not as good for the price they were asking. The salad tasted like nothing even if you put dressing on it I did not enjoy the salad. It was kind of expensive but bad quality in food I would have preferred to go to Olive Garden then here for pasta. My husband ordered steak I don't remember the name on it but he said it wasn't good either, so we spent $50 on food that wasn't even good the only thing I probably ate more of was the bread. The service was ok, I barely saw my waiter and when I did I felt rushed. Especially at the end of the night when he was picking up the checks not everyone was finished but he kept rushing for us to sign. They give unlimited bread but they don't come around as much as they should. They have entertainment there it was nice not too loud and the songs he sings are perfect for the environment. Overall I did not enjoy my time here it was actually my first time and I felt like I was cheated off my money. The environment and bread was nice but everything else I would have preferred Olive Garden. read more
