Great cheese ravioli with good texture, filling, crisp surfaces, lots of microfine grated cheese on top with a slightly spiced red sauce on the side. Large pair of meatballs was good to share with plenty of marinara below. 4 recommendations for the gentle pillows of gnocchi, in a few flavors. Risotto primavera was great as was steamed sole. I liked the carchiofo cream sauce and artichokes on veal, but was also available on chicken. Key lime, capuchin o pies and the large mascarpone canolli were a good way to end. Plating was plentiful, a bit of take home remained. Simple meals cost up to about $30, or with addons can be higher end. But nice atmosphere. We happened upon this restaurant by accident, driving through Uptown at the end of the lunch hour, and we are glad we stopped here. This is evidently an old Dallas "institution" among Italian restaurants, which we didn't know, but the quality of the food helped us understand why. Everything was delicious, well prepared and presented. Linde especially enjoyed the pizza, a classic thin-crust style with lots of flavor. Without trying to sound dramatic, this was the BEST italian food I've ever had, no joke. I got the fettuccine a la vodka and my boyfriend got the fettuccine alfredo. Both were absolutely amazing, definitely the best versions of each pasta i've ever had. The portions are very generous too, along with free bread and salad (both were great also). A group of us came for dinner after work and the service started out great...received appetizers, wine, and entrees in an appropriate amount of time. Food is good but nothing extraordinary...just reliable Italian food. Garlic bread is amazing and plentiful...that's the best part of the experience. Service went south after we received our entrees...she would disappear for lengthy amounts of time...like 15 minutes or more. We waited for dessert offerings then it took about 20 more minutes for them to be served. From desserts to when we received the check was another 20 minutes then we had to go and look for our server so we could pay. All in all it took 2 hours 45 minutes from start to finish and we were all ready to go after about 2 hours but it took forever to pay. We did have 8 people and we split the check equally...that part only took our server about 5 minutes though. Things that were really disappointing: *The server took our orders and asked if we wanted house salad, Caesar salad, or soup...turns out that the Caesar salad and the soup are $9 extra...you will find this noted on the first page of the menu at the bottom of the salad section in black ink with dark green highlighting...not easy to spot and not mentioned anywhere near the entrees...the server didn't mention any extra charges, so we all felt a little ripped off since it was a surprise on the bill. When we asked, they just said 'it's on the menu'...not in a nice way...very curt and borderline rude. *My group all work in hospitality/food & beverage and we always tip very well and usually add on to a pre set gratuity. We know there was a 20% gratuity added to our check, but we looked and it was actually a little over 22%...they had included tax in the gratuity calculation which is not the industry standard. Gratuity is on the meal before tax. Not that it was that much...less than $10 over but just another sneaky tactic. *Last gripe and I saw it before I ordered it...I ordered (2) soup of the day to go...chicken risotto soup. $16.95 each...I received two 8oz containers and some bread...the containers were smaller than the soup served with dinner for $9 each. I have been going to this restaurant for about 30 years and this is the first time there have been any issues. Prices are very high for the quality of food and service. I'm super disappointed that what was a fun evening out turned into us all feeling a bit scammed. read more

Also servers try to be sneaky and offer a house, Caesar or soup to start your meal as if it's included but fails to mention that it's an upcharge. So when you get the bill and confront the owner and server, their response was "It's on the menu sweetie." No apology, no sympathy. So we checked the menu to find "all entrees include garlic bread and house salad" underneath the salads section. Sorry but overall this place is not worth it. A friend from out of state bought me a bottle of wine and cheesecake for my birthday over the phone and the staff surprised me with it when I got there. I'm an Italian girl from New York and that cheesecake is one of the closest I've come to reminding me of junior's. I had the risotto with vodka sauce which was also great. So glad I found a decent Italian restaurant in Dallas! This gem is located in Uptown and, thankfully, has a free parking lot (for customers only). The place is a bit unassuming on the outside but welcoming and adorable on the inside. Upon walking in, we were greeted by a stunning sun room to the left and an original Mona Lisa painting (I joke) in the front. A waiter came and pointed to the daily specials (Chicken Parmesan and Chicken Piccata) which they have on display before seating us. Our waiter promptly brought us waters but rushed us a bit on ordering. We were a bit indecisive with all of the pasta options. I ordered one of the specials, the Chicken Parmesan (listed on the menu as Chicken Parmigiano) which was an excellent choice. The chicken breast had the right amount of breading where it wasn't overwhelming but still had a nice crunch. And the tomato sauce and cheese on top were unbelievably savory. My only complaint is that the portion size for the pasta is a bit small compared to other Italian places. However, they did include two fried shrimps on top of the chicken which were a nice surprise. All meals come with a house salad and creamy garlic dressing as well as fresh, right-out-of-the-oven garlic bread. Don't be too shy to ask for more garlic bread - it was delicious. Although the meal was a bit expensive at $19, it came with a salad and garlic bread, and I had plenty of leftovers for a second meal. I would recommend trying this place! I wanted to update my review. We have been going for about 20 years now. Very little has changed and it is still amazing! I love the "new" location so much. The couple who owns it is so hospitable. My husband and I really love this place and often go for special occasions. They start out by serving some really good old school garlic toast. Then, you order and can have a salad or soup. I love their house creamy Italian dressing so much. I actually tried different recipes and make an identical version at home for antipasto salad. My husband always gets the Chicken Cremona. I've had a few bites, and it is really delicious. I have ordered many other dishes, and all have been impeccable. My mom loved their lasagna. I had a bite, and it was amazing. I love their ravioli, rigatoni Italiano, baked Mostaccioli, Chicken Carriofino, and veal saltimbocca. Don't miss the chocolate mousse or tiramisu for dessert. Their chocolate mousse is the best I have ever had by far. The service is attentive without being annoying. The atmosphere is charming, and the noise level is great. This is our favorite Italian place. We have been to many, and Cremona is the best. It is my daughter's favorite place too. She is 17, and had her boyfriend take her there, and they both loved it. We started off with the fungi trifolate and what arrived was white button mushrooms absolutely swimming in gloopy yellow sauce that just tasted like salt and garlic. For our mains we got the chicken piccata and the veal saltimbucco. The chicken piccata was served in that same gloopy yellow sauce as the mushroom appetizer, but with capers added. The chicken itself had a rubbery texture, it wasn't necessarily dry, just rubbery, while the veal was cooked fine but otherwise bland. If, by some unfortunate turn of events, you end up in this restaurant, do what we should have done: leave and spend $25 a plate somewhere else. read more

This place is one of the best Italian restaurants in uptown! I was with a party of 17 and the restaurant staff was so accommodating and attentive. Usually when you go to a restaurant with a big party, the service isn't very good and you don't get enough attention, but the staff at Cremona's we're on top of it the whole night with refills and bread. Our server, who i believe is named Jessie, was wonderful and patient with our big group. The food was flavorful and fresh. Came to Cremona for date night and absolutely loved it. The wine list was not extensive but there were plenty of options. The waiter did not recommend the house wine so we ended up getting a Pinot noir. There was a sweet woman who brought around fresh, out of the oven garlic bread throughout the meal. I've never seen a restaurant do this. We couldn't decide between tortellini alla panna or the gnocchi with cream sauce. Then we saw that they had the tortellini alla panna in an appetizer version. We decided to split that for an app and then do the gnocchi for our entree. Both were wonderful and flavorful! Finally, we ended with tiramisu and it was delectable. Even the owners and waitstaff are authentic. The interior dining rooms are quaint and have a real mediterranean/european feel. Weekend nights feature live piano music. I run a weekly networking group in Uptown and our former "host restaurant" closed on us. Within the same day, the staff of Cremona's rallied their troops and the next Monday pulled off an amazing lunch for us. So much so that this is our new location for our Monday Networking Lunch ("Uptown Netweavers" on Meetup.com). The staff, both front staff and kitchen staff, have been amazingly nice and accomodating to us each week and the service has been phenomenal. They are constantly asking "Can we do anything else for you?" which the trademark of a true customer-driven business! They also have a fantastic patio area (of course for when the weather is actually "nice" in Dallas...lol). I saw some of the other (negative) posts and all I can say is that with a group averaging 40 people each week, "WE" (collectively) have no complaints. There's a lovely tasty pesto sauce on the Caprese and the sauce in the pasta was delicious. The chicken under the sauce was perfectly breaded and moist. Also, warm toasted garlic bread is also delivered to your table for enjoyment. I want to come back for a date or a group of friends. However, a couple of nights after that day I ordered "to go" for dinner for my family and the exact same pasta that I ordered on my first was not very good. The sauce was not bad, but my chicken was very rubbery. So I was disappointed. Although, the Alfredo and lasagna that I also ordered was good. So I still very much like the place.
