If I could give this place minus a million stars , I would. It's not due to the food , or even other staff members. This rating is due to the terrible service that my friends and I were exposed to during what would have been a 4th of July celebration breakfast date. The staff member who completely didn't give a hoot about us and was blatantly lying about seating us inside while we waited for our table instead of subjecting us to 100 temp heat outdoors was Amber. When we first arrived and gave our names to be called when a table was open , there was a couple seated in their lobby waiting to be called. Amber told me and a friend that since they had a small lobby , we could not wait inside for our table to be called . So we went outside to wait. As that couple got called, the lobby cleared out. We went inside and Amber still told us we could not wait in the lobby and had to wait outside. Mind you , no one was in the lobby and she was asking us to wait outside in 100 degree heat. Saying she was now saving the lobby waiting area for a party that was ahead of us. She also passed up our name and called others in before us that had just arrived. Same size of party. It was apparent that Amber had something against me and my friends. Friends that were traveling from out of town and I was excited to take them to what was my favorite breakfast spot in the mountains. One of my friends being a Navy veteran and was there with us celebrating Fourth of July. We were all surprised and extremely disappointed of the way we were treated. 1-Star Review for Crestline Cafe (August 13, 2025 Visit) Title: Rude staff, violent threats, filthy environment, and unhinged behavior -- NEVER again We've been loyal patrons of Crestline Cafe for over 15 years, even at their old location when they were in Top Town. We always tipped generously, supported the business, and enjoyed the food -- until August 13, 2025, when the entire experience became a disaster. 30-Minute Wait for Pancakes -- Then Slammed on the Table We waited 30 minutes for pancakes. Asked three times. Got nothing but vague, evasive answers. Finally, we said we'd leave if food didn't come in 3 minutes. Suddenly, it appeared in 2. Not because of effort -- because of pressure. The waitress (who claimed to be the manager) slammed the plates on the table like we were an annoyance. No apology, no explanation, just contempt. Unsanitary Waitress in Manager Role The same waitress had raw, open-looking facial wounds -- what appeared to be bloody, exposed sores or warts on her chin. It was hard to look at and extremely concerning from a public health perspective. No bandage, no covering -- completely exposed. In any other business, this would be a health code violation. Overcharged: $18 for 3 Glasses of Milk Ordered 3 glasses of milk. Got 3 glasses. Billed for 6. They doubled the count, charging $6 per glass instead of $3. No explanation, no fix offered. Blatant overcharging. Belligerent Breakdown from Waitress/"Manager" When I calmly asked what was going on with the delays and service, she became agitated, raised her voice, and snapped, "Don't you see?" while pointing at the kitchen (which only had one person). I asked again if they were short-staffed -- instead of answering, she started yelling, accused me of "always being rude," and had what looked like a complete breakdown. Totally inappropriate, unprofessional, and mentally unstable behavior from someone claiming to be in charge. Threatened with Violence by Cashier When I tried to escalate to someone else, the cashier -- a tall, skinny, young white guy with long blond hair and blue eyes -- told me: "You're bothering our customers. You're about to be thrown out through the window." That's a direct physical threat to a peaceful customer -- made while I was standing there with my wife and daughter. I told him I'd call the police. He immediately backed off and turned away without even addressing the issue. Shameful. Filthy Dishes, Cracked Plates, Dirty Glasses The plates were chipped, the glasses visibly dirty. The entire restaurant has gone from cozy and welcoming to a filthy, depressing dive. Nothing is clean. Nothing feels cared for. Final Warning to Others: This isn't the place it used to be. It's become hostile, filthy, mismanaged, and outright dangerous. Between the unsanitary visible wounds, the aggressive threats, the overcharging, and the meltdown by the staff claiming to be in charge, this place is now a nightmare. Never again. Crestline Cafe is dead to me. The people working that day were either completely untrained, chemically altered, or dangerously unfit to work in hospitality. I've never been treated with such open disrespect, aggression, and incompetence -- especially after being a loyal customer for over a decade. We will NEVER return. Crestline Cafe is now a no-go zone for us and anyone we care about. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. Slow, overpriced, hostile, and dirty. They've lost their soul -- and a customer for life. Came in on a Sunday around 10 for breakfast, cute little cafe around some thrift, gift, and coffee shops. Had to wait about 15 minutes but service was really quick and organized. Ordered a short stack (2 pancakes) of buttermilk and blueberry pancakes with a side of sausage links (2), bacon strips (2), and an order of hash browns. We were in Crestline for a vist and it was between this and the Top of the Hill Cafe. We waited just 10 mins for a breakfast table. The food unfortunately was kind of average, service was great! We ordered: 1. Bacon Burger 2. Eggs & hashbrowns 3. Steak Sandwich 4. Rye Bread Turkey Pastrami sandwich 5. Fish and chips Their oil deserately needs to be replaced, it is all you smell when get your food. I think that would fix a lot of the issues. read more

I preferred the cranberry cashew chicken salad sandwich; the mayo was a good idea and the other one was a bit dry and didn't have enough flavor. Typical home style restaurant in a quaint little mountain town. There are booths lining the windows with tables in the center. The place is quite cozy on the inside. We ordered two cheeseburgers that are served open faced with the lettuce onion and tomato on the side. The burger comes with mayo but opted for it to come plain. The key to a good burger for me is for the bun to not be hard and the burger not being too messy to grab. The fries were good, but I wish I would have not gotten the sides for the burger and just had more room for fries. The sweet potato French fries were also good and crispy. The restaurant was staffed with two servers and they did a great job between the two of them. I would return here to have a nice home style meal. They also serve Italian food on Tuesdays. read more

This place was super packed with about a 10 to 15 minutes wait. I opted for the bar and got right in. The staff was super friendly and chatty whilst knocking out an insane amount of orders. Truly a local gem on the mountain. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and breakfast is by far my favorite. Everything on their breakfast menu is robust and hearty. Delicious flavors and offering from pancakes and waffles to omelettes and biscuits and gravy. They also offering specialty dishes every week and they now serve mimosas. They do get busy, especially on the weekend, and you may need to wait for a seat but it's worth it. The parking lot is shared with the post office, but we usually don't have an issue finding a parking spot. There is also plenty of street parking should you need. This is still the best restaurant in Crestline. They struggled getting dependable help but are doing very well again. We come in for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They are all great meals. They have some fantastic soups and even a simple dinner salad is always fresh and great with their blue cheese dressing. I bring my grandsons and they love the burgers and chicken tenders as well as breakfast and ice cream sundaes. Spent this past weekend at a cabin rental in Twin Peaks and as we left to come home, my family and I came to try this spot out for breakfast. I am glad! This place has some really good filling comfort food. Had the full stack banana pancakes and the chicken fried steak. Kids had the steak sandwich and the blueberry short stack.
