Ok resturant for being on top of the mountian. Small town kinda feeling as you walk in. Servers seem confused.... they changed my server 2 times. But whatever it takes to get order and food cpmplete. Tables not very roomy, squeeze in if you are a big guy or get a center table seat if one is open. This was my second time, first time didnt like their scrambled eggs very dull. This time order the prime roast dinner special on Friday's. Bake potato was very good cooked just right. The prime roast came out perfect. The dee shjon... sause was very good. The mash potatos ok but the gravy was nasty.... over cooked gravy not sure, but didnt taste right. Corn on cob was good... Note: if big family is getting served next to you except them to forget about you when checking out. They still got around to me after awhile. Parking is next to none outside. Even by post office. Tiny little bar... if you can call it that. But still 4 star cause service was not to bad and most of the food was good enough for more then average. read more

Perhaps b/c I'm an old timer here I see things differently But I eat often at the cafe and the main reason is that the service is as good as it gets anywhere ! The waitresses are always anxious to help in trying to get your order the way you want it They are always diligent affable and courteous They always greet you with a happy smile and wish you a good day when you leave making you feel welcome and sincerely care about you Everyone is treated equally with respect and sincere affection I think that large groups come in To eat at awkward times that is impossible to anticipate and must be a logistical nightmare! Customer service was great. We had our dogs and sat outside. Even though we had to order "to go" style the servers were very helpful. Food was delicious- we ordered the fish and chips and monte cristo (which was different than what I'm used to). Check out some of the food pics before you order so you're not surprised. OMG!!! I am kicking myself for not eating here sooner. I was starving and ordered the Cobb Salad. I love a good Cobb, but this Salad was on Steroids. I could barely finish it and I am a chubby guy. There is an old saying that we eat with our eyes...no joke! Once I saw the Salad my eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach. This place has good food, it's clean inside, and the servers are very hardworking. Menu is diner type food, nothing too fancy. I was very surprised at how good the salmon was...I truly did not expect it to be, but my son wanted some fish so we tried it. Service: very friendly and respectful. However, one of the orders was incorrectly put into the kitchen and came out late, and no compensation offered. Waitress did come around and checked on us a few times as well, so that was nice. Food: decent portions but we all cleaned our plates. Kids mac and cheese was from the box, so that's a rip off. The Country Boy wasn't bad with good taste but had no wow factor. Could hit singles and doubles all day, but not a home run. The breakfast burrito was on the bland side with no sauce but good portion. The patty melt had some good caramelized onions, but the patty was not seasoned at all, very bland and bit on the very well done side. I think it had rye bread that was bought from the cheap end of the bread rack at the local market, definitely could use more flavor. The fries were pretty tasty and crunchy :0) Fresh brewed tea was pretty good. I haven't gotten my food and the service is shit. The wait is 30 minutes and then I am tricked into sitting at the bar table when there is no wait for the bar or the bar table. I sit down at this table my back hurts and no server comes for 10 minutes. When the server finally comes we order our drinks and food all together since I don't want to wait another minute. I'm sitting at the bar table my back is killing me so I get up and ask Patrick that I want to move to either of the two booths that just got cleaned and are open because my BACK HURTS, and Patrick says "uh no ... people are going to sit there." So I go back to my high table and high chair let my legs dangle and feel my back going out even more. I complain to my sister and of course the waiter says yes (but not before I said "he fureakin said no" I didn't use any profanity lol. I'm so happy but I felt like I just wasted my energy w patrick. Anyways I'm on my way to the bathroom and Patrick follows me and apologizes. I said ok. The country fried steak was below average but the chocolate pancakes was above average in taste so this place deserves 3 stars for the pancakes and the apology I received. read more

I've eaten here once and gotten the veggie sandwich. It was good but really really bland. I ended up just taking it home and adding my own condiments to it because it tasted like eating a salad with no dressing on bread. The service was slow but I'm pretty patient so it isn't a big deal to me. Today I called to ask if the veggie patty they serve is vegan. Now, I don't expect the restaurants here to understand what that means, and that's okay. The woman I spoke to on the phone was very polite about it, but she asked another female coworker (who I could hear LOUD AND CLEAR) in the background if she knew, and the girl said in the snobbiest tone of voice "i don't know it's vegetables who cares?" When it comes to food service "who cares" when someone has a dietary restriction is unacceptable. I explained to the lady on the phone (who was really trying to figure it out for me) that I just needed to know if it had egg or milk in it. I told her if she could even just tell me the brand of patty it is that I would know. She tried looking in the kitchen and said that they throw away the boxes everything comes in (that have the ingredients on them) so she couldn't tell me. Now, I know this area is not very vegan/vegetarian friendly. I'm not complaining about that. The big issue I have is that egg and milk are two common allergens. At least ONE person in the kitchen should be aware of things of this nature. Again, I'm not complaining because they didn't know what vegan meant. I think it is pretty unacceptable for any food service establishment to not have information or knowledge on if the food they serve contains common allergens. So I'm giving 2 stars because: -when I did eat here it wasn't very good and the service was slow and impersonal -there are people who work here that say "who cares" when it comes to someone else's food...and are snobby because they think I can't hear them -the kitchen isn't aware of common allergens in their food I'd give one star but the woman on the phone at least gave her best shot at trying to answer my question and was very polite and apologetic about not being able to answer it. read more

The service at this place was disappointing and it was recommended to us by a local. We had to wait an hour for a table when we were told it would be a short wait. All while we watched several groups that arrived after us get called before us, we were only a group of five. The hostess was nice and apologetic about the wait time. We also understood that it's a small space. My issue was with our server. When she brought our drinks, she practically threw them on the table. In fact, she spilled orange juice on the table and didn't bother to clean it up or apologize. She did the same with our food. She was rude to us every time she spoke to us. Honestly, we would've enjoyed breakfast at McDonald's a lot better. I recommend a friendlier staff. The food was okay but it was not worth the wait time or the service. read more

The Crestline Cafe did have some growing pains when they first opened but they have fixed their problems and now offer great food and service. My favorite on the breakfast menu is the "Sizzling Spuds". Still very noisy when busy and could use dividers or baffles to reduce the noise level. read more

Good food here! Food always comes out hot and fresh. The mozzarella sticks were excellent, very hot and chewy cheese. Cod sandwich was very tasty too. Steak sandwich was good too. We came on a slow night, but this place is mostly busy. Worth the wait on a busy night. read more

Prime Rib and eggs today for breakfast. Was very good. For the price of $12.95 I thought it was fairly priced. I would order again. Might be my imagination but it really seems like this place has really stepped up their game when it comes to serving customers. Came here a while back a few times and thought the service frankly sucked. I know other locals have said the same in the past. 1 star service, 4 star food. This is the second time I've come to Crestline Cafe since buying a house up on the mountain, both experiences my husband and I questioned why we came. Visit 1 - found this cafe after we bought our first house so we decided to give it a try. We waited half an hour to be seated on a Saturday morning, but that was expected so we didn't mind. However, we did mind the wet table when seated, the 30 more minutes we waited to get a drink order, the 15 to order food and the 40 for our food to come. So 2 hours after we walked in we finally were getting served our food. It was tasty and filling, but we had to flag someone down for refills boxes and our check. Then wait another 15 min for it to be swiped. Visit 2 - as of 30 minutes ago, this became the worst service I've ever had. We walked in and it was full, but not busy at 10 am. We were told to wait 5 min for a party of 2 no big deal, then a party of 7 walked in and was told 20 min. 30 seconds later they were sat. Whatever. Waited another 10 min to be sat at a wet, not kinda damp, this table was wet, half set table with A (one) napkin and a fork. I would've been willing to wait another 2 minutes for the damn table to dry with a full setting of silverware. Now here's the best part, the tall blonde high school girl working there would be much better suited working at the supermarket up the street where it's not as heavily based on customer service because she ruined our experience. She very very obviously didn't want to be there and was clear when she flew by our table barely letting us order drinks and when she brought them back immediately walked away. We were then able to order food with our second server. The blonde keeps making rounds serving every table around us refills and giving out checks but FLYING past us, not taking a second thought to stop at a table with visibly empty drinks and creamer bowl that we had to yell to get her to stop. Because we only got forks set at our table, I asked for a knife for my pancakes. This girl brought me a steak knife, a STEAK KNIFE for my pancakes. Are you joking? At this point we were just done. Asked her for a check and 2 boxes and she literally threw them down on the table on top of our food and flew off. We are pissed at this point - sorry to inconvenience you at your JOB. It's not that hard, coming from someone that has previously served for 5 years, it's only as hard as you make it. So excuse me when I have to find a server to take my check to run my card and get the hell out of there. You can tell this is a place where the older ladies serve the regulars and their customers then, if you look like you haven't seeded from the mountain, you get the shit end of the stick. I live here year round too so thanks for nothing seeing as this is 1 of 3 places to get breakfast in Crestline. ROXY seemed like the only girl in this place with a little hustle and moved with a purpose, being a pleasure when we ordered our food and came back to make sure everything was ok - sorry you're having to do the blondes job and refill all 4 of our drinks bc she couldn't be bothered. When we checked out I made sure our tip went to her. This was just unbelievable. ROXY was great and our food was alright, large portions but a little pricey, but you've got to make it work on the mountain so the price wasn't surprising - $36 for 2 plates, short pancakes, and 2 coffees. I don't want a gift card or and sort of incentive to come back - I'd rather drive down for less expensive food with better service. I just think its fair for others to know what they can expect when they visit Crestline Cafe. read more

I eat pretty health consciously and so I knew I was getting myself into trouble here. I don't know what all the fuss is about. The food here was great and the service was excellent. My wife and I ate here mid week in October. One day at 10:30 a.m. and one day at 9:30 a.m. On both days we were quickly seated and had at least two waiters serving us, to ensure we were well taken care of. They were friendly too. In fact, after we left one day, one of the waiters came out to the parking lot to return an eyeglasses case that had fallen out of my pocket on my seat. Another great part of our experience was the food. The pancakes are outstanding. Very moist. I even ordered some to go. My wife loved her eggs benedict. The portions were large. We hit the Crestline Cafe for lunch as headed out of town on a Sunday. Relaxed cafe-style ambience that's s little loud with multiple groups talking, but not bad. I had the Reuben sandwich, my wife the pigs in a blanket with bananas in the pancakes, my daughter a short stack and my son the Best Western burger. All of it was very good! Not gourmet of course, but good, solid, tasty, cafe-style fare. The service was excellent and the staff friendly. We will definitely return when we are back in town. read more

Decided to stop for breakfast at the Crestline Café on the way home. I ordered blueberry pancakes. The waitress was knowledgeable about how the pancakes can be ordered. I ordered fresh blueberries in my pancakes. The waitress asked if I wanted them on top. I asked that they be added to the pancake mix. Pancakes were absolutely delicious. Bonus they warmed the maple and boysenberry syrups. Haven't had such good boysenberry syrup since I was a kid going to Knotts berry Farm. My husband said his egg, ham, and bacon scramble was exceptional. Service was excellent, friendly, and the place was very clean. read more

The food was the best I've had in awhile, I ordered the logger and it was delicious, grilled onions, cheese, and bread were a perfect combo! Also ordered mozzarella cheese sticks and they were yummy. My boyfriend has the cranberry chicken salad sandwich, lacked a little flavor was more sweet than anything and also the French fries were good . Definitely glad we stopped here on our trip.
