Ahhh a blooming rose in a bed of sand. I love good Italian food and having eaten it all over the country, I was surprised to find this jem of a restaurant in my hometown. The atmosphere is low key, just 10 or so tables and modest decor. Who cares what a place looks like when the food is so good your eyes glaze over? We've been here several times since out move to chesapeake in march. Love the food love the service. My husband was stationed in new york city for several years and while mot exactly the same it takes us back. The staff is always super nice and prompt. Drinks stay full. Very clean. This place isn't fancy inside if that's what you're expecting, but it's clean, and the food is amazing. Their New York style pizza is the best in the area. The pasta dishes are just as great, especially the stuffed shells. The salad always tastes fresh, and the dressings are made in house. Service is friendly. Ordered pizza salad and eggplant rollitini for door dash delivery, the food was decent (4 stars) but marking a star down because after we received and paid for our order we got an adjusted bill from door dash saying the business adjusted the bill based on the special instructions. My special instructions were to REMOVE olives from the Greek salad. How on earth that ends up costing a $1.22 MORE is beyond me. It's honestly not worth my time to fight through door dash over $1.22 but if this is really a legit business practice, it's a bit concerning. read more

I drove past 3 pizza places to get to this place because of the Yelp Reviews. I should have stopped somewhere else. The staff was not the friendliest group. The cook look annoyed I guess it was from the huge rush of 2 customers. Sauce was super watery and bled through cheese. Only thing that was ok was the cheese. My husband and I use to go here a lot. The pizza was awesome! We would drive 30 min out of the way to go there. Then we went there a couple months ago and the pizza wasn't cooked all the way. Was soggy and soaked through the box. I called to complain and there wasn't a manager on duty so I left a message... Never heard back. Tonight my husband and I decided to give them another shot, again the pizza was sub par and not cooked throughly. When I called to speak to a manager there wasn't one there..... Again..... When I told the girl I was calling to file a complaint she put some guy on the phone who was rude and basically called me a liar. After some arguing it came out the this guy; the unprofessional, rude man that had just answered the phone without EVER introducing himself, was the OWNER! Our first time at Christaldo's and we were pleasantly surprised. The pizza was excellent, with lots of cheese and a nice thin crust--exactly the way we like it. We split an Italian salad and the small pizza was more than enough. Servicer was friendly and attentive. A nice family friendly pizza place. We will return to try some of their other menu items. Been to this place several times in the past and had no problems, however last Friday was my wife's birthday and at 0740 that morning I called her from work, which is 150 miles or 3 hours away and asked her what she wanted for her birthday dinner. We pulled up their menu and saw that they still had clams with white white sauce on linguini. So we planned on ordering and picking it up so that when I got home we could eat right away. After driving 2 hours from Rocky Mount NC and about 45 minutes out. She called to order and they told her they were too busy to prepare that meal. As a result of their desire to alienate returning customers we found another place about the same distance from home that had what we wanted. It only took them 30 minutes to prepare this dish, another dish, appetizers and 2 pizzas for our kids. It turned out the other place charged a dollar more for the Clam dish but had at least three times as many clams, in fact there were so many clams that I could hardly see the pasta. Also the pizzas were way better than Cristaldo's. Thank you Cristaldo's for helping us find a place that is equally convenient, yet has much better quality for just about the same price. Before covid my wife and I would meet at a place on my way home and when were resume that practice these guys are now off our list forever. I guess they have more business than they can handle and do not care about loosing long time customers. read more

It's not often that a place exceeds my expectations. Especially when it comes to Italian. I first visited this joint with low expectations. I ordered my favorite dish which is Linguini with Red Clam sauce. I've eaten it on three continents, in over 10 countries and almost every state in the US. This is the best I've ever had, hands down. Now I know most people don't venture out for linguine with clam sauce. Don't worry, everything here is done right from the pasta, pizza and salads all the way to the service. Two weeks ago, I decided to try out this pizza place. I called in our order for a small pepperoni. They said it will be ready in 10 minutes. So I got there exactly after 10 minutes to find out that they have yet to bake my pizza. The girl by the counter, who seemed like she didn't want to be there, told me my pizza will be next one to be baked. Another 10 minutes passed, I had to walk up to the counter with a new person there and asked for my pizza. She had no clue. So I had to tell them again who I am and what I ordered. She looked confused and started asking the guys making the pizza where my pizza was. And then told me that it's just going into the oven. Sigh :( The pizza, when I finally got it and took it home, was very delicious. It is just sad that the service could be a lot better. I will try other pizza places next time. read more

Great Pizza, Great Service After reading all of the other mixed reviews we decided to try this place. After seeing for myself and testing it out, I will tell you ignore any of the bad reviews about this place. Service: I was greeted by almost all the employees as soon as I walked in the door. Even though I called in a head of time for a carry out they asked if they could get me anything else, and gave me an update and a time line on the two pizzas that I ordered. The staff was very friendly and polite. Facilities: for those who say this place looks like a cafeteria, come on. It's a nice little mom and pop pizza shop with more to order than just pizza. Yes they have regular cafeteria style seating but is that really what your going there for? No, let's be real it's the food. As for the food: we ordered two large pizzas and I was pleasantly surprised when I noticed that the dough was a no kidding fresh made hand tossed dough! It was a really good thin crust and the sauce was good but maybe a little more would be better. As for the cheese they use a real cheese so you may have A little more grease but I'll tell you it was an awesome pizza! And very well priced for the size! We will be back for sure! read more

I'm shocked by the customer service I received tonight. My mom called at 418 pm and ordered two pizzas totaling almost $40 and we were told it would be 30 minutes. The young female asked for a name so my mother gave my name. Upon arriving at 445pm, I wasn't greeted and was asked what my neighbor was while being looked over because other customers were entering the restaurant. When I explained that my name was given, the young lady said it was for the two large pizzas, one white and one red. I was told that they were in the oven and the blonde (I assume one of the owners) said she would bring it to me. I was sitting in the corner, watched multiple people come and go and people that ordered after me, get their pizza. The young lady and the young gentlemen behind the counter saw me multiple times and never said a word. Finally at 505pm I approached and asked how much longer it would be. The blonde looked at the older gentlemen and asked and he said, "they've been ready, where was she?!" I was stunned so I replied, "I've been sitting here the entire time!!" The lady then blamed it on the young lady that was serving tables saying she should have told me it was ready. I was so surprised that I took the pizza and walked out. I drove the 20 minutes home and told my mom what happened. She opened her pizza to find it wasn't correct. She called back and the young lady said they would remake it. Mine was nasty greasy, which is the first time that's ever happened, out of all the times we have ever ordered. We took the pizza's back and the owner asked where the slice of pizza was out of my pizza and my mother said I threw it away because it wasn't good. There was no apology- nothing. Instead they told my mom she lied about what she ordered saying she only ordered a white pizza, no toppings (yet she was charged for the toppings). I'm very disappointed as I truly enjoyed the pizza the other times I've had it and I do NOT like pizza from anywhere else. I tried this place out of the blue because it was the only pizza place nearby and that's what the family wanted, I loved it. The customer service has a LONG way to go in order to exceed. You can not charge almost $40 for two pizzas and treat your customers that way. read more

I should have known when we walked in the door and saw a Merritt Parkway sign on the wall that this would be really good. I was not disappointed. My husband and I both ordered individual pizzas and tried each others. He had a white pizza and I had one with sausage and garlic (can't remember the name of it). We shared a salad.
