From my dining experience it seems that many pizza restaurants offer iced tea as an afterthought since it pairs with soda so well. It creates a disappointing beverage situation for people like me who never drink soda. Here's what I did like about this place. 1) The name Crooked Crust, I love that name. 2) The friendly employees 3) unlimited toppings on 10 inch gluten free pizza crust. $8.50, comes with a drink. When I ordered with no cheese I was offered vegan cheese which I passed on but the fact that it was offered was excellent. I was tempted but I know some vegan cheese is soy based or has vegetable oil. Here's what I didn't like 1) The iced tea is almost repulsive.2) The teeny tiny parking lot is ridiculous. A bit of a college 'hole in a wall' look on the outside but inside, anything you choose is going to be Yummy! This was our second trip to Crooked Crust after its discovery last week. We ordered a meat combo, 16 inch and a 10 inch gluten-free Mean Green. The young man who took my order made sure my food allergies were addressed. Both pizzas came out incredibly great! Which is the ideal place to capture the drinkers on fry. They sell pizza by the slice for a great price! It's a good place to stop for lunch when you have a full day on campus but don't expect this place to wow you. The dessert here isn't great either so just stick to the pizza. This is the place to be after a night of drinking as long as you're drinking Thursday - Saturday. During the week the place closes at midnight. On the weekend the place closes at 3 am but you want to get there before last call at the bars (1:55 am) because that last hour is so packed! I swear by this place to cure/prevent a hangover! Yelpers, you led me to this pizza gem and so we thank you! My companion swore he was indifferent to pizza, but not anymore. Pros: We ordered a half and half (spicy italian/white) pizza and it was glorious! You can order pizzas of different sizes, 1/2 pizza and 1/4 pizza. With some orders there are specials that effectively give free drinks for 1 or 2 diners. Other things we noticed: The restaurant seemed clean, it smelled heavenly, and napkins and paper plates are available at the pick up counter. The person that took the order was nice & friendly. Cons: We did find a lack of communication and customer service. The ice machine was broken, but instead of putting up a sign, telling customers when they ordered a drink, or saying a word when they awkwardly try to get ice out of the machine, the cashier waits for the customer to go back to her and ask about the ice. To us, she responds, "oh, it's broken. We have a call in to have it fixed." Rewind that awkward tap dance and conversation THREE more times for the next parties that trickled in while we waited for our food and ate our meal. As we were leaving, we decided to comment on how much we liked the pizza. We watched the re-enactment of the entire ice machine saga once again. I suggested a sign on the ice machine that it was broken might be helpful. To which I pretty much got a stare and a shrug. I then asked about how to enter the drawing to win pizza for the year, which was advertised on a huge monitor right next to the cash register with zero instructions on how to enter. Love that you can order by the slice or get the whole pizza. Conveniently located for a late night bite after hitting up the bars, but parking can be a bit tough since it's located by all of the bars and gets pretty busy. This being our first time here we went with one of the specials - basically half a pizza and two drinks. With this special you are able to get two pieces specialized. So for my two pieces I got pepperoni and hamburger and my husband got hamburger and...something else. But with this special you can't get individual pieces specialized. Make sense? We also got an order of breadsticks. Our breadsticks came out fairly quickly and were delicious. Freshly baked, soft and warm. They came with marinara sauce on the side. Very good! Our pizza was ready soon after. The pizza was pretty good. The pepperoni slices looked to be the cheapo kind that you can find at the grocery store but otherwise it had a good taste. One piece ended up being plenty for me so I gave my husband my second piece. He was happy with his pizza - said that that he really liked it. So in total we spent around $17.00 for four breadsticks, two drinks, and four slices of pizza. The restaurant is nice and the employees were friendly and helpful. Would we come back? Definitely.
