Burnt crust. How can I serve this to a customer?
    Don K.

Burnt crust on the pizza yet very soggy. I took a picture cause I can't believe this mess would actually be served to a customer. Their oven seems like it needs to be calibrated. Skimpy toppings with hardly any cheese. Very disappointed. I'll never order from them again.

We've had several wonderful deep-dish pizzas in Chicago over the years. But for whatever reason, the last few--including pizzas at stalwarts like Pequod's and the River North Malnati's--have been lackluster. This particular evening was working out to be a let's-stay-nearby-for-pizza night, and Crushed Pizza gets more positive Internet reviews for non-Chicago-style pizza than you can count. It deserves them. The pizza has crust of medium thickness in a bit of an East Coast style. It was terrific: sturdy, with great chew and good yeasty flavor. The best we can remember having in a long time. Toppings (mushroom and spinach on our half) were fresh and plentiful. Only complaint I can muster is that the sauce could use just a little more zing. Side salads--only five or six bucks if I recall correctly--were huge for the price and surprisingly good, although mine (the Charlie, with spinach, walnuts, fig, red onion, Gorgonzola) was heavy on the balsamic vinaigrette. Although Crushed has tables for dining in, it is very much a carry-out joint and doesn't have too much in the way of atmosphere. Our young server was pleasant enough, but we kinda got lost in the shuffle among all the folks standing around waiting on carryout orders. Also, no alcohol, at least not yet.

Phone was suppose to eat first but we got too excited!

First time visiting crushed pizza and I enjoyed it! We ordered for pickup and everything was still hot when we arrived about 30 minutes after placing the order. The interior is pretty small but there are a few tables and tv if you show up wanting to dine in. We ordered a half cheese half pepperoni pizza and the house crushed salad on the side. I typically don't love the salads at pizza restaurants, but this one was really fresh mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, freshly chopped basil, and a nice vinaigrette. I loved it and have enough left over to have for lunch tomorrow too! The pizza was tasty too. Although the crust is thick and crispy, center of the pizza is kind of floppy. While that isn't my favorite I know there are a lot of people who enjoy that. It's a good size, reasonably priced, and super flavorful! I can definitely see us ordering from here again.

Crust was amazing with just the right amount of bounce and crunch. (And no corn meal!) Topping amounts were perfect, though I wouldn't add more than two items to a pizza because it might get overloaded. Sauce was perfect and not too sweet. The free lava cake was amazing. This is my new go to when I need pizza.

The Garlic Butter Sauce came cold and solid.

Just as good as the old pizza place in the same location; ORD. Pizza is great and salads are the best of the pizzerias in the area.

Legit pizza. Usually not busy, and kid friendly. Good place for a slice or their custom pies are awesome too. Our favorite is the T.C.

Not Neapolitan. Not Deep Deep dish. Not Tavern style. It's NY style and it's really f-ing good.

They push the Mediterranean Bread, and honestly, you should let them. It's enormous, blistered, fragrant, and arrives like a hot air balloon made of carbs. More importantly, it gives you something genuinely delicious to tear into while you wait for the pizza pot pies to emerge from whatever subterranean chamber they're baked in. It's both a starter and a survival tool. A reservation is non‑negotiable unless you enjoy contemplating your own mortality in a weekend crowd. The wait times can stretch so long you could starve to death before your name is called -- and the regulars will nod knowingly as they step around your skeleton. Plan ahead. The salads are comically oversized, the kind of portions that make you wonder if they're meant for a family of four or a single very determined marathon runner. But let's be honest: no one is here for lettuce. We're all here for the pizza pot pie, that molten, bread‑wrapped, cheese‑laden dome of joy that defies every attempt at categorization. It's not deep dish, it's not thin crust -- it's its own thing entirely, and that's the point. This is the place you bring out‑of‑town guests when you want to show them something uniquely Chicago without defaulting to the usual deep‑dish suspects. But it's also the place you come back to on your own, because once you've had that pizza pot pie, it lives rent‑free in your brain until you return.

He recommended some great items on the menu, checked in at just the right times without ever hovering, and somehow managed to get our food out incredibly quickly. It deserves a 5-star review on its own. We're not sure if it's included with the service, but it definitely made everything taste better! A huge thank you to Adam for making our visit so memorable. I got there and there was about 15 people in front of me in line. The hostess was really nice and because I was there by myself, she called up to the bar to see if there was any seats at the bar so I didn't have to wait. I found out that Chicago style pizza takes about 45 minutes to cook, but I was willing to wait. After about an hour I asked where the pizza was, and they said "we lost it". Although I was disappointed that I had waited so long , they were accommodating and apologetic, and took ownership, which I really respected and appreciated. They said they could get me another pizza quicker than 45 minutes, so in total I waited about an hour and a half. They asked me if there's any appetizers I wanted for free or drinks and because I didn't wanna fill up before my pizza and I had already had a salad , I declined. The pizza came out and it was absolutely delicious. Was it worth the wait? Because I didn't have anything else that evening for a while that I needed to do, it was worth it. If I had been in a rush, it would've been a different story. The hostess, the bartender/waiter and the manager were all very nice and attentive. I had a great time at the bar socializing with people from different parts of the country. I would definitely recommend Giordano's.
