I encountered really poor customer service. Walked in around 130pm, place had 2 tables finishing up, music blasting. We sat down and asked if the music could be turned down a bit. The waitress said it couldn't! Apparently she doesn't know about knobs. The do finally get the music turned down after I asked to speak to a manager. Nobody wants to have lunch with would music blasting in their ears. Then they tell us that we can only order breakfast (at almost 2pm). Their excuse, we have a big grub hub (or door dash) order and that's all they could offer us. Really? So, your live customers are less important than online? ok. Then the turn the music up again on us. Wow. By then there was only one other table at the place, and old guy who probably turned his hearing aids off. We speak w/the manager or owner, and he pretty much says, he doesn't care. No wonder the place was empty. The food came out quick, it was presented well, and it all tasted great ... also good portions for a decent price. The coffee was a little bit weak for my taste but Veronica's smile made the whole experience a 5.0 star rating! My review is from my visit 6 months ago. I endorse the meaty and flavorful buffalo wings which are hard to find. Although Maggie's Cafe's buffalo wings are competitive and less expensive. And the wings are definitely better than the overrated Buffalo wings eateries. Service was responsive and the coffee was tasteful. I arrived on a Saturday when they opened. We were obviously seated immediately even though there were about 20 guests in the restaurant. I also ordered breakfast and an omelette. In general the omelette was prepared perfect. Softly cooked, not to hard, and ingredients were balanced. I finished my meal with a piece of chocolate cake. I know odd choices for breakfast but I had to feed the cravings. Although I'll eat here again, but there are other eateries that are higher valued and flavored for the price which is why it's been six months and I have yet to return. He's a nice guy and doing his best to thrive in an odd location with a past. My only complaint was for me the bacon was under cooked, I'm a crispy bacon kind of guy, they cook it to a medium! Been here before for breakfast. Breakfast is a 4 star BUT dinner service is barely a 2 star Service was super slow. Servers were trying their best to get food out on time. Kitchen staff needs help. It took 40 minutes for our food to come out. The last dish (xl pizza) took 50 minutes. Server said all other dishes have been ready, waiting on pizza. When non pizza dishes came out, it was horrible. Food being under heat lamp harden the sandwich bun, salmon got dried out and garlic bread was hard. When pizza finally came out, all other dishes were not appetizing. Stopped in here for breakfast.  Nice atmosphere indoor and outdoor considering its location.  Looks like they can accommodate both small and large groups. Ordered the corn beef benedict.  When it arrived, not quite what I expected.  It had all the ingredients of a corn beef benedict but was put together or layered differently than I was used to.  Usually the egg and corn beef are on tap of the toast.  In this case, it was served on the side.   It gets eaten the same way so no worries.  Taste wise, it was decent.  I would probably order it again. Friendly staff.  Plenty of free parking which is becoming a rarity with all the hotels in Mission Valley. read more

Three years ago I ate here and thought they made a pretty good breakfast burrito. I realize the Pandemic has made a mess of things, but when you put rotten cucumbers on the salad and serve it to someone, that's pretty disgusting. I actually didn't eat at crest kitchen, but picked up a chef salad made and packaged by them that they put on the refrigerator shelf at the liquor store next-door. It's clear they used a cucumber that was riding, cut it up and put it inside. I have to salad until I got to a cucumber and ended up spitting it out because it was mushy. The ham was rolled up with some sort of cheese spread. It was gross. I really hope the liquor store stop stocking crust kitchen salads. read more

We stayed at the Atwood next door. This was the most disappointing meal we had on our vacation. We ordered breakfast. Kids' pancakes were fine, and the wife ordered bacon n eggs. She had no complaints, but it wasn't anything special or even good. The real bummer was the huevos Ranchero. I order it often for breakfast. This was next-level bad. Like a whole step below where an actual restaurant should actually serve it to a paying customer. By faaaar, the worst I've ever ordered. Two tortillas, eggs, and I'm not kidding when I say 10 ounces of canned salsa dumped on top of it. It looked like spaghetti when it arrived. It was bad. I don't understand how someone could look at that plating and decide that it should be served and cost $16. Oh my God. So from the Portland area, went to Anaheim to see Disneyland and California adventure. Drove down to San Diego to hit the zoo and Safarai park. After a few long days of walking and just plain terrible food (both from the theme parks and places we tried in the area)... we were hesitant to try someone new again. But this was in the parking lot of our hotel and the pictures looked good so we wandered over. And I am so happy we did. We ate supper there last there, breakfast there this morning and plan on hitting them up again for supper tonight. The tri tip was not over cooked. The Mashed potatoes were garlicky and smooth. The garlic toast was a nice touch we weren't expecting. The mac and cheese was creamy and not Kraft Mac&Cheese or seemingly microwaved like other places (should have seen my husband devour it). The chicken fried steak was cooked well, crispy and not dry. The service last night was meh. Waited a long time for a refill on water and not much interaction with the two girls working. One girl was nice, the one who served us. The other girl who sat us initally didn't reallt seem to want to be there and spent most of our visit folding up silverware into napkins. But that's fine in the long run really. The breakfast sandwich I got this morning hit the spot. Toasted thick sourdough bread. Flavorful aioli. Crunchy arugula. Egg exploded all over but thats my fault for not eating over my plate. I knew it was a fried egg, I was just so excited to eat the sandwich. The waffles seem to have cinnamon in the batter maybe? Not sure but delicious. Fluffy on the inside. The breakfast potatoes weren't overcooked (lots of places burn these) and they were seasoned well. (We've spent all week getting food with seeming no salt, pepper or garlic or anything so this was super great. I ate them so quickly. I couldn't contain myself.) The service we got this morning was phenomenal. He was a funny, engaging, accommodating. He was talking with customers, cracking jokes with us, and interacting with the cooking staff in a professional way but they all seemed to engaged with what he was doing and saying. Came here due to its location from my home! Very cleaned and chill atmosphere, probably gets most of its guest from all the hotels nearby. The food took about 15-20 minutes, and in that time, I saw the server hand off my food to the wrong guest and then go to grab it back, then put it into a to go box for me as I was ordering pick up. Not a fan of my food being handed to other people then to me but I'm not the type to make a fuss. Food was good! It was a lot and very filling. Everything is personalized and individually for the table including the cream and sugar. On a very short wait my breakfast came out and holy cow I was nit expecting the size of the omelette. This easily could be a share any between 2 people. I barely at 1/2 and felt bad because I couldn't take it to go based on travel. This omelette was amazing and packed full of all the ingredients. Sometimes you feel really short changed on ingredients and nit the case here. The bacon, sausage and ham were so delicious and appreciated the cooks care in the preparation. San Diego let's ensure this place gets busy...they have limited indoor seating but they do have great outdoor seating as well. Yummerz! Any place that lets you have breakfast for lunch gets extra points. I tried this place due to the convenient location by my hotel and the great reviews on Yelp. The manager/owner was on site and greeted me and everyone that came in. The food choices were really good. I landed on the breakfast sandwich (for lunch) and it was yummy (although I thought it said sourdough bread and it came with just plain ol' white bread). Still yummy. As I ate the breakfast deliciousness, I checked out the pizza options for later. (Because after a few beers, pizza is always a hot commodity). Later, after a few.....I, of course had that hankering for a pepperoni pizza and this place did not disappoint. The sauce, cheese and peps were super yummy, but, please only use this review to choose your pizza IF you had a few beers too. I can't speak to the pizza yumminess factor (sans beer). I was ready to rank this place a 2 because at first the servers came off as rude. Not a friendly smile or engaging interaction. We also waited over an hour for our food and they literally brought everything one by one (I will admit we were all very hangry after a long day). But when the food arrived man was it DELICIOUS. I got the fried chicken plate and it was very good the chicken itself could have used more seasoning but the sides were all perfect. We left well fed and satisfied overall. While our waitress wasn't enthusiastic or engaging (and trust me looking back I get it it was only two of them she was tired I'm sure) she was very caring she brought us some free tea for my son after we told her he was not feeling well that day. I would say her name but I wouldn't want to get her in trouble. Please take great care of your servers! Would have given 5 stars but that was a very long wait maybe get more servers? read more
