AWARENESS: Bookmarked for at least two years to try, the wife and I finally made it here to have breakfast the last weekend of February 2026. NARRATIVE: On the morning of February 28th, 2026, the wife and I drove about .25 miles from the Point Loma Annex to the Point Lama Cafe. After finding a parking spot, we entered the restaurant and were greeted and seated immediately and told what the breakfast specials were for the day. After looking over the fairly small and limited menu, the wife ordered their Creme Brûlée French toast and I opted for their Bagel and Lox with a side of two, soft scrambled eggs. My wife's meal came with crispy bacon and I believe four pieces of French toast and several slices of fresh fruit. My Lox Bagel came with the usual cream cheese, capers, onions and tomatoes; several slices of fresh fruit and my eggs were cooked soft, just as requested. Overall the food was really good. Hot, fresh and good portions. Both my wife and I finished our entire meals which normally doesn't happen. SCENE: Located at the corner of N. Harbor Dr. and Nimitz Blvd, the Point Loma Cafe shares the same property with the Double Tree Hotel. It's very open and airy and it appears during peak times, it can accommodate over 80 persons. The only issue I can foresee would be parking. Their parking lot is small and has about four stalls. There is parking available at the Double Tree but, I believe its pay for stay. Of course, there's always the street. RECOMMENDATION(S): Very good breakfast spot if you enjoy that mom & pop type place. read more

The St. Agnes Women's Guild enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of fellowship, great food, and a lovely presentation at the Point Loma Café. Lynn, the coordinating manager, was very easy to work with and responsive, even adding personalized menus for our group. Our servers were great, and Josh especially stood out. Even when the kitchen got backed up because of our large group, he kept everyone informed and made sure we were taken care of. This place is nestled between hotels and it was hard to find parking but we managed. Our server was great and very quick with our orders. I did order a hash with steak but got chicken. I honestly thought I got a weird color steak but turned out it was chicken. When I brought it up with our server I asked for just a side of the steak but they brought me a whole new plate which was nice. My in-laws brought back a breakfast burrito for my husband and I. The cheese was nice and melty inside and the peppers were a nice small touch of spice. I expected it to be spicier and was pleasantly surprised that I was mild. The spinach tortilla was a nice touch and it comes with rice and beans. My husband wasn't a fan of the rice, but I thought it was fine. Funny to have rice, beans, and tortilla chips with breakfast. It works if you eat half of the burrito and eat the second half for a lunch or dinner with the beans and rice. Cute little spot on the grounds of the Holiday Inn Bayside. It was open on NY day & wait staff were very friendly & accommodating. They do not have espresso but did have oat milk for my dining partner who is lactose intolerant. They also verified that their granola is GF for me. The restaurant is in the Holiday Inn. It wasn't easy to find the endtrance to a parking lot. There is a lot right next to the restaurant, but it only has 3 spaces plus a handicapped space. Any other parking you need to pay a fee. This is very discouraging. But we found the small lot and were able to find a space. So we continued on into the restaurant. We both ordered an omelette. It was nice and fluffy and very good. The corn muffin was very good as well. The waiter was attentive and kept checking back with us to see if we needed anything. It is not often that we get a server who asks often if the coffee and tea cups need refilling. Josh was exceptional. I guess that Point Loma Cafe does not know that as of 7/1/2024 there is a price transparency law. in CA. Goods and services must include fees. This was a shock when we received the bill. There was an extra 5% on the bill that was not listed anywhere in sight. We also asked if there was a military discount, but found out that it had existed but was removed from the system. It is one of the few places in San Diego that does not provide this. All of this totally ruined what was a very nice breakfast. We won't be back again. read more

As a guest of the hotel, it was the only option for breakfast or coffee. This stand-alone restaurant is quiet and clean. The good? Fantastic food and friendly service. I really enjoyed the Belgian waffle, the omelet, and the fruit. The not-so-good? They aren't really set up for large conferences, so there was a long wait at times. Apparently the actual Point Loma Cafe closes at 1:30pm daily, after which you need to visit the Bayside Bar at the backside, which has the same menu. This is a comfortable spot with an outside pool and garden. The overall food and service is pretty good. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Ordered the spicy chicken wings, and the sauteed chicken breast and pasta. The wings have a nice spicy sour flavor. The pasta is great too but could have done without the sun-dried tomatoes in it. Would recommend this place if you're looking for a peaceful lunch. Doesn't seem to have a lot of visitors, seemingly hidden by the Holiday Inn hotel it's a part of. read more

Sadly today will probably be the last day I eat here. I knew when I came a while back and they were closed for "remodeling" that they weren't going to be the same when they reopened, and I was right. I have been coming here for over 7 years and was told today that they no longer accept Restaurant.com vouchers. Was told because they were now under Hilton, they only accept Passport, which I looked up and there is a $79/annual membership. Just another example of corporate greed and how tone-deaf corporations are when it comes to their customer base. Anyways when I inquired as to why/when they stopped accepting Restaurant.com vouchers (because I had just come and used one in September) the manager Carlos (who has the personality of a wet blanket and is ALWAYS rude and acts like he'd rather be anywhere but there every single time) was of no help at all as usual. Not even sure why he's in the hospitality industry. Anyways he did eventually pass me off to someone else whom I'm assuming was another manager, just for him to proceed to lie and tell me that they stopped accepting them over 4 months ago when they reopened after the remodel, although I LITERALLY just used a Restaurant.com voucher in September. So at the end of the day I ended up spending double what I planned to spend all because they abruptly stopped accepting dining vouchers with no notice, and didn't notify their customers. It was the lack of transparency and honesty for me when I did inquire. I'm going to miss their food and Bing, the server who always waited on me and welcomed me with a smile. Can't expect people in this economy to pay for a membership just to get discounts, especially when a simple breakfast with a drink is almost $30. read more

The food was ok. I had biscuits and gravy and it was warm. I figured it would be hot both the biscuits and gravy. The taste was ok but, I think it would have tasted better hot. The service was slow. It took a while for use just to get water. That water took about 10 minutes to come out but we kept being told it was ordered. Went here a few times while staying at the hotel next to it. Probably the best restaurant/bar I've experienced that is part of a hotel. 1.) Night #1 - Went down for dinner and light cocktails. Waiter was a little stand of fish at first but I suspect it's because he was the only waiter on staff. He quickly warmed up. My sandwich was great and my husband enjoyed his pizza. The waiter never let our drinks go empty. We sat outside during the evening next to the fire pit table and it was perfect. 2.) Morning #1 - Went down for breakfast. Fantastic omelette and eggs Benedict. The waiter was very attentive. Prices are very reasonable. 3.) Night #2 - Went down to the bar after returning tipsy from a wedding a realizing we were out of booze in our room. Bar tender was super nice and although they were closing up, he gave us booze to go to our room which topped off our evening completely. This is such a lovely cafe with delicious options for breakfast. My husband had never tried a Monte Cristo before. I said, what better time to try one than on vacation? They are served as a half sandwich because they are colossal. Each bite was perfection. The sourdough, ham, turkey, Swiss, and cheddar were all so yummy. We opted for fruit instead of potatoes, and a side of bacon. Service was extremely slow. They were quite busy, but the staff apologized profusely. Irene sat us and didn't bother to bring a high chair or booster seat. Once I realized she wasn't coming back, I got up and asked her for one. She said, "Oh yeah, yeah. I'll get that." I was walking around Point Loma and came upon this cafe. I got the eggs benedict and the hollandaise sauce was pretty good. One of the eggs got scrambled a bit though. The pieces of ham were pretty big and the potatoes were nicely seasoned. They even included fruit on the plate. The staff here are amazing! Very attentive and made sure I was taken cared of. I wanted so bad to have found a new breakfast spot. When I walked in, the first thing I noticed was the 50's decor. It was charming it was so well done. No. No. No. Not slammed down rudely. Just plopped down without the joy. I didn't enjoy the food. Mainly because I was not confident that if I had them to make my order the way I wanted, it wouldn't have happened. So I just accepted my order the way it came. I'm gonna wait a while before I go back because I cant believe it's like this all the time. So I'm gonna come back alone as my husband doesn't wanna come anymore. However this place is across the street from the fishing fleet and only a half mile from my house. The cafe is well lit, and while it is across from the harbor, there was not really a view from the corner table where we were seated. They have quite a few options on the breakfast menu. I chose the Cafe Wrap, which has two scrambled egg whites, greens, chopped onions and tomatoes, and some cilantro. It came with a side of fruit. My husband ordered Eggs Benedict, which must have been good, judging from how fast he gobbled it up. The server was pleasant. Great prices..... we're from Ventura and this venue has quite reasonable prices compared to many other restaurants in this touristy area. The service was quite nice and they have a varied menu with a build your own 3 egg creation. Our waitress, Irene , has been there for over 20 years and was quite a character!
