COVID times are doing funny things to all eateries. Crust Kitchen is no exception. They have removed at least half of their dinning room tables and clearly had cut back on staff. We wanted to grab a quick bite while watching the basketball game. For some reason, they wouldn't or couldn't put the game on for us But the food is still great. Went there this morning for breakfast. Waited several minutes before anyone came. Place wasn't busy. They have mask mandatory signs posted the guy that came up to me had his mask around his neck. Asked if I was going ver or Grubhub when I said no I wanted to dine in he pointed to a small table in the front. The server knew how bad it was, and most likely was the reason why he didn't come back to check on our drinks. While staying at a hotel on Hotel Circle, I came upon this restaurant. I decided to give it a shot, and it did not disappoint. I ordered the WINGS, and they were to die for. So much so, that I decided to come back the next morning for breakfast! They make a great cup of coffee, and I love the big mug it comes in. I ordered the pancakes and side of Canadian bacon. Whew Chile this is a hot mess! AVOID Pros: Beautifully decorated and modern restaurant. Our server was nice. Food is okay. Cons: They don't know how to manage their wait-list. They take people out of order. Seat people but don't cross their names off the list so the same peoples' names get called over and over again. Folks just come and sit down at tables and get served and they were never placed on a list. At one point a pair put their name on the list and sat in benches right outside the door. And the server skipped them because she refused to go outside and call their name. A female staff member was yelling across the restaurant, and making inappropriate comments. The wait for the food was long. The potatoes were bland. My pineapple upside down waffle I ordered came out as a regular waffle. When I asked if this was the right waffle the server came out and gave me all the ingredients to construct my waffle myself instead of bringing out the correct waffle. Lol. I used to work next door to Crust so I ate there all the time. I honestly thought I would get tired of the food, but they actually kept me pretty happy haha. If I could suggest one thing to you, it would be to try the meatloaf! Their meatloaf is bomb! The owner of this establishment needs to stop being a cheap ass and hire more employees. After what seems like forever driving down the 8 East on my way home from work every day, I noticed that Crust Kitchen was in fact "NOW OPEN"! As we waited for someone to take our order, it seemed as though they were just figuring out who was going to do what. Not letting that derail us, we called our attention to one of the guys behind the counter to order our food. Not a huge deal yet. Going down the line to check out all their food, what I noticed was the restaurant was dark/dim. Pizza was out and some of the other a la carte items were on display, but it lacked presentation. Either way, we kept moving on until we saw the dessert. I was pretty excited, because it looked great! We asked about what kind of muffins were on display, and the girl at the register had no idea. She took a guess before realizing that she should just ask someone who knew. After finding out that it was a chocolate cranberry muffin, we decided to get it. Sounded and looked delicious! They have Stubborn fountain soda here, which was definitely the highlight of our meal. We got their Agave Vanilla, which was delicious! Once we sat down and started in on our food, we noticed that the pizza was very average. I got their White pizza, and my wife got their Cheese pizza. At $4.50 a slice, it was not worth it. I got their BBQ Crusted Chicken Salad, that was maybe the worst salad that I ever have ate. The chicken was terrible (very very fatty), the crust in which just the fact that it was fried was not delicious, and the chicken itself fell very flat. The salad vegetables were decently fresh, but the dressing that I had on the side was seriously plain BBQ sauce (did not wow) and what appeared to look like mayo (more than likely some sort of ranch). Not sure what kind of dressing make up this salad was supposed to have, but it did not seem to match the salad. The mayo/ranch looked disgusting. Glad I put it on the side! What was ridiculously adding insult to injury was that the muffin was so dry, it seemed like good ol Otis Spunkmeyer rolled in his grave!!! At least get dessert right, so we could have left happy! I drove by and was lured in by the fancy "CRUST" sign. Of course, first I had to read the online menu in my car. The trick is to park far enough away from the entrance so that you don't look like a creep but not so far that it's a work out to walk to the front door. Unfortunately, there were no prices online, but the dishes sounded good, especially the prime rib. However, once I walked inside I noticed the ambiance didn't seem to match the menu offerings. The set up is cafeteria style, albeit very hip one. The salads looked dismal and the hot foods were just expensive. I settled on the pizza because it didn't look terrible, would be easy to take out, and was a relative "steal" at 7.95 for two pieces. But, the pizza tasted like it was from a public school cafeteria at twice the price. I guess this place would be convenient if you were staying at one of the nearby hotels.
