We had the giant pretzel... soft and fluffy and the smoked Gouda sauce is delicious! Definitely try the crab cakes.. lots of flavor! I had it with a side Greek salad (yum!) and sweet p fries. I am beyond LIVID right now. We just had dinner here tonight and my 5 year old daughter ordered a grilled cheese off the kids menu. She ate half and was starting her second half when all of a sudden she said "OUCH that hurt!" She takes out a very jagged piece of something white and puts it on her plate. This all happened right in front of our waitress who then said to my daughter... I wouldn't eat that. I was so confused. I grab it to look at it and at first glance I thought it might be she cracked a tooth. We shine a light on it and it's actually shiny like a white piece of plastic (like a fork? Crab shell? or porcelain?) Extremely sharp and hard like a rock. She opens her mouth and the back of her mouth is covered in BLOOD I rush her to the restroom. Wash out her mouth and confirm it wasn't her tooth. I also see the back of her mouth by her molars is cut up. Needless to say, she's now crying and we're all upset. The manager comes and hands us $10 to pay for her grilled cheese and we write up an incident report. Candidly, it's not about the money because truthfully we don't need their money, but the least they could do it comp our whole meal for what just happened. Admittedly, the manager did offer to handle any medical expenses if she had to go to the doctor and said she was sorry, but the whole thing is just very upsetting. We're now walking out through the outside patio -- which was absolutely empty -- with the exception of 1 waitress that was cleaning up the tables. We are talking among ourselves and I tell my husband we will never come back here and the waitress starts LAUGHING at me and my family. SO RUDE!! I cannot even believe that happened! Talk about adding insult to injury. What an inhumane thing to do when a child is hurt and bleeding. I have no words. We are here visiting for the weekend for my son's birthday and this was our first experience in Savannah. I'm beyond disappointed. read more

I love this place. Every time we visit Savannah we make a stop and I am always hoping we can stop twice in one visit! It is a really old establishment but it is quite homey inside. There is a parking lot if you want to drive over. It kinda seemed blocked off when we visited, but I remembered people parking last time. The most recent visit we ordered the following: Gawgia Peach Cobbler - Ice Cream on the side ($8.95) Pastrami Reuben Sandwich ($15.95) Side of Vickie's Mac & Cheese ($4.25) Best peach cobbler ever. They are baked to order and simply perfection. I always get the ice cream on the side so hubs can enjoy and I can have untainted cobbler. If you get nothing else - get this cobbler! I love the pastrami here. I get the Rueben and swap out the sauerkraut for coleslaw. Salty and sweet it was great. The assembly of my sandwich was super sloppy, when I turned it over half the slice of bread had nothing on it. It tasted so good I didn't mind. I just had a "low carb" version. Mac and cheese tasted great. Southern style done right! There is often a long wait here but it is always worth it. The service is friendly and attentive. Can't go wrong with the CBP, it's a Savannah tradition. I've been coming here for 30 years and they still have the best crab stew in town! Other menu must haves for us are the onion rings (you will not regret them), fried oysters and club sandwich. Shrimp and grits here are also quite legit. My kids love the baked Mac n' cheese. Everyone talks about the fried poundcake (I honestly haven't ever had it, I make a mean poundcake and frying it seems unnecessary but then I don't know your life) but the unsung hero of the desert menu here is the Oreo Pie. Oh my goodness try it and share it. Amazing! They always give me a free dessert on my birthday to boot! Service is consistently wonderful. I usually taste a couple of beers before I pick one and that has always been fine. It is street parking only now so definitely brush up on your parallel parking. There is also a sweet little gift shop to check out while you wait or after your meal. I have two kids under 4 and this is a pretty kid friendly establishment. For dinner we ordered the shrimp and grits, blackened shrimp, bowl of soul, a burger, kids sliders and kids grilled chicken tenders. Their fried green tomatoes are the best I've ever had in a restaurant, but the hospitality and customer experience is stellar. The woman next to me mentioned that she had asked for something different, the server acknowledged it might have been her mistake and within 45 seconds they just brought out the item she wanted, and let her have the mistaken item as well. I stopped here because it was close to my hotel during my stay in Savannah. I got a beer from a local Savannah brewery- disco ipa. It was pretty good. I got some food to go. After I ordered I heard the next table and waiter talk about crab. I kind of wish I got that because it sounded good. I got the gyro and salad. No complaints it was pretty good. A beer and a gyro was 30 dollars with tip. So I doubt I would go back but it was a good experience and staff was nice. We ordered a greek salad and a bison burger split between myself and my 66 year old mother. We love a nice fresh salad so we thought we would get that here since the reviews are so great.
