My boyfriend will say that I'm being overly generous with my three star review and I'm half inclined to agree with him. What started as a nice meal, ended in annoyance as our server basically disappeared for half an hour as we finished our meal and waited for our check. I had planned to order peach cobbler as it was my first time in Georgia and I had read that the Crystal Beer Parlor had the best peach cobbler in Savannah. Our waitress took so long to reappear that we no longer wished to sit around and wait for dessert as we feared it would take another half hour or longer. I was disappointed that my dream of peach cobbler on my first (and only so far) night in Georgia didn't get the opportunity to come true. The saving grace for me was that my Southern Fried Chicken salad (with a few alterations) was delicious. I've never been a fan of honey mustard so I swapped the dressing for ranch, which happened to be one of the best ranch dressings that I've ever tasted and I consider myself to be a ranch fanatic. I also omitted the peanuts but asked for a hard boiled egg instead, after noticing that it served standard on the chef salad. I firmly believe that a hard boiled egg is a must for salads. The salad was huge and there was no way that I ever could have finished it but I decided to take it easy on the salad in hopes of finishing my meal with peach cobbler. I ended up taking it to go and then forgot it in the mini fridge in our hotel room the next morning when we checked out. I was most sad about leaving the ranch behind. My boyfriend, who is a vegetarian, didn't have a lot of options on the menu aside from salad so he chose the veggie burger. He wasn't impressed though and felt like it was very mushy. Between that and the terrible lack of service, he thought the meal didn't deserve more than one star. read more

We visited Savannah for only 4 days and really enjoyed our two dinners. The servers were excellent, especially Brandi. Their menu has many options, but we really enjoyed their sandwiches. Wife and I shared a delicious club sandwich and then had their Reuben and BLT. They are very popular, for good reasons, so make a reservation. read more

Food and service was great. Not much of a wait on Thursday evening (12/8) for 3 of us first-timers to the city. We shared the app of fried green tomatoes which was also a first for us. Very good; especially with the dipping sauce. We all had a burger. Mine was the Smash Burger and it was very good. We each chose different sides so we could try them. I'm an onion ring snob so I had to check them out. They didn't disappoint. Collards and fries were yummy too. Disappointed with parking as I use a walker and oxygen so having to park in the street instead of closer was a bit of a pain but quickly learned that's how it is everywhere here. read more

The food and service was excellent. I had a peach Martini that was wonderful. Just enough alcohol without overpowering the flavors. Everything I had was done to perfection. I had the Neptune dip, the fried shrimp with the red beans and rice. The ambiance and the history of the place made it a fun place to be. read more

Busy please so be prepared for a wait! We waited about 40 minutes for our table. They have a cute gift shop that you can check out while you wait. We ordered the shrimp and grits and the peach cobbler. We mainly came for the cobbler since a local told us this was there favorite place to get one. The shrimp and grits were good! They're in the creamier/richer side. They give a ton of protein (shrimp and sausage) too which is nice. The cobbler did not disappoint! So delicious! Crispy, soft, not too sweet, and topped with ice cream. read more

I 100% did not expect what I got from this establishment! It kept popping up on "must eat" lists for Savannah so I figured why not! First, service was amazing and quick but the food was so delicious! Greens and macaroni were soul food worthy - I mean close your eyes and do a little shimmy good! The shrimp were well seasoned and plentiful. After receiving several personal recommendations, we planned our afternoon in the historical district to include the Crystal Beer Parlor for lunch. Although there was a 20-30 minute reported wait time for a table inside on this 96 degree day, we ended up finding two spots at the bar when we were grabbing beverages for our wait. My burger, fries and cider were on point, the fries clearly taken seriously by the cooks: perfectly done to crispness and the skins left on. My husband had the shrimp and grits and regretted not being able to finish it all because it was so good: creamy cheesiness, savory sausage and shrimp. This was the highlight of our trip to Savannah. The menu was packed with awesome options. The cost was very reasonable and I am sure that is why there is Normally a wait. I was actually expecting less and that's always the way to go when trying something new. Expect less, so that when it's good- it's really good and you're surprised. I'm not sure why I was expecting the food to not be so great but BOY was I wrong. Sat down- super friendly server! Ordered kids chix and fries without salt and by mistake they put salt on so the server instantly grabbed us another order of plain fries- top notch customer service. They tasted homemade and very very good and tender. My kids really enjoyed them. Ordered a veggie burger which is usually made with black bean- it was homemade made with kidney beans and some other interesting veggies- it was absolutely outrageous!!! Really good place. Old school layout and booths with old newspaper articles on the wall. our server was Madison and she was wonderful. very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Great variety of draft beer and mixed drinks. We had fried green tomatoes as an appetizer and the were nicely breaded yet firm and the horseradish dipping sauce was very flavorful. I had a cup of creamy crab stew that was wonderful with chunks of crab and a shrimp salad sandwich that was delicious. My wife had a greek salad that she really enjoyed. It was cool inside. A very chill, relaxed place. The waiter was knowledgeable on beer and food. I loved the history, I always love history. I was looking something light; but, also I wanted to eat everything I could find that was local. We ended with locally produced beers and soups that are handmade with love and salads. I could have devoured everything on the menu but, I held back. I would recommend this place in the highest regards. I will visit this place again. I was satisfied without feeling packed. I think it's odd that I've never written a review for one of my off the beaten path favorites. Venue: interesting old structure that has been polished to look like the restaurant has been there for 100's of years. Huge on tap beer selection, huge bar, has it's own free parking as well as plenty of pay for street parking. Many old pictures of the history of Savannah are here including past USA Presidents, first ladies and dignitaries that have visited. Shame that some of those are not in our museums. Food/drink: huge food selection of generally southern food. But this restaurant has a lot of healthy options including vegetables, great soups and salads. I wouldn't consider vegan/vegetarian options though. Huge bar that is first come/first serve and chock full of liquor, wine and beer. Service: consistently great for years. read more

A little tricky to find the entrance because it's actually around the back, but we enjoyed a casual dinner with new friends as we spent a few days in Savannah moving our son to SCAD. The beer was cold, the service was swift, and the entrees were delicious. Everyone was happy! The pretzel was SO good. I could have eaten the dip with a spoon! I had the fried chicken salad...the lettuce was crisp, the chicken wasn't heavily breaded and the honey mustard was yummy. We will definitely keep it on our list of regular visits when we visit our son! read more

Great dinner venue to add to the list! I have driven past numerous times and have heard compliments about Crystal Beer Parlor. Now I can say I've been here and pass along my recommendations! Baby Shark, daddy shark and I stopped in on Halloween. We had the classic burger, the Greek taco and lil dawgies. I also had the Atlanta Rose Cider, which is wine beer and I like it! We all loved the meal, served with a side of great customer service. My Greek Taco was so tasty! The lamb beef meat was a good mix. And the added feta is a must - not sure why I have been missing out on that. The pita bread was so warm and soft, and a plate of it would have sufficed all on its own! We probably have to come back because they have a fried bread pudding on the dessert menu that we clearly didn't have room for. read more

Came here before a creepy crawly ghost tour. The food was good. Our waiter Daniel was very good and attentive. The computers were down, causing some delays. The manager did apologize for the delay. We thought 2 1/2 hours would be plenty of time, we made it just in time to out tour. This was a nice place. My husband and I stopped in for a late lunch. I ordered the Bowl o' Soul. It was delicious!!! I loved every bite and the corn bread was fresh and warm. My husband had the shrimp and grits. It was amazing is what he said. He also enjoyed the Ocilla Cole slaw. A vinegar based slaw. Our waitress was friendly. She suggested the peach cobbler and it was hot fresh and crunchy. We plan to go back again. Definitely worth the stop!!! read more

had to wait 25 mins for a table but it was well worth it. My son thought the pulled pork sandwich was out this world and same for potato salad. I got fried shrimp which was lightly battered and delicious. I also got mashed potatoes and cole slaw that was ok but cornbread was delicious. It's not fancy but great to go have a good meal. Established in 1933.

Originally opened as the "Gerken Family Grocery Store," the building was sold in the early thirties to William "Blocko" and Connie Manning. One of the first restaurants to serve alcohol after the repeal of Prohibition, the Crystal Beer Parlor continues to be a favorite of native Savannahians. The building and the interior are much as they were back when burgers were 30 cents and draft beer was 10 cents a glass!

To share amongst the table, we ordered the cinnamon toast banane and crispy gouda grit croquettes. Thumbs up on both, particularly the croquettes which were the right balance of gooey and structured enough to eat with the delicious sauce on the side. The cinnamon toast banane was not so much toast as cinnamon rolls with bananas foster; the cinnamon rolls were really tasty and the bananas foster was good, though the bourbon flavor was strong. For my entree, I ordered one of the lighter vegetarian dishes - the mushroom tartine with tomato soup. I think it is one of the lighter dishes - certainly lighter than what my dining companions ordered - but it was still quite rich with a fair amount of gouda fondue in the tomato bisque soup. The mushroom tartine/sandwich was really flavorful with the pesto, cheese and tons of mushrooms. The restaurant is quite large with an upstairs seating area.

Especially because I was getting excellent service from the server!!! I've always had quality service from servers here. And if beer isn't your thing, there's a full bar to cater to every taste. Parking can be a bit tricky with a small lot that fills up quickly, but street parking is also available. One of the things I love most about Crystal Beer Parlor is their allergy-friendly menu. We came here on a Thursday night around 7. The place was busy, but not too crowded. We sat in a nice booth in the bar area. Our waiter was nice and was very helpful with beer recommendations! We both went with local Savannah brews and enjoyed them both. I started out with the crystal crab chowder. I really enjoyed it! The menu warns that there might be shells in there and they were right. But it really was a great cup of soup. For dinner, I had the brown ale burger. It was just alright. The cream cheese was overpowering. I also wasn't the biggest fan of the onion rings (disappointing.) My girlfriend ordered the au puiove burger and she loved it! The gravy was amazing and it complimented the burger perfectly. You don't need cheese on this burger, it would be too much. She got sweet potato fries on the side and they were good as well. I have absolutely no idea why or how this establishment has so many high reviews, unless people are just desperate for anything they can fit in their mouths and call "edible." I was looking for a great burger, and accidentally picked this place based on their reviews. Big Mistake. Half full and quoted 25 minute wait, so I went to the bar to place a take out order. It took ten minutes for anyone at the bar to acknowledge me. I would have overlooked all of the above, except when I finally received the burger, it was one of the worse I've had in a very long time. Ordered Medium, cooked extra well done. Nothing special- no seasoning, burnt, tasteless, dry meat, plain run of the mill bun. It was so awful I ate less than half and tossed it. read more

This is my favorite place in Georgia and one of my favorite places anywhere. The bar remains classic and old fashioned, but in a clean and wonderful way. The food is also fairly classic, with things like fried oyster sandwiches and other southern treats. The BBQ nachos are excellent. Unfortunately, despite not ordering an appetizer and going straight to mains, we didn't get our dinner until 7:55pm. The reason it happened was the waiter accidentally ordered us the seafood special, not the steak special. They were apologetic about it, but still, a dinner we were looking forward to turned to a rushed scarfing down of food. Would have been nice if they comped one of the dinners, or offered a free round of drinks for the inconvenience. As for the meal itself - the shrimp dinner was meh - only came with 6 shrimp for $32 (pirates house shrimp dinner tasted better and came with over a dozen large shrimp). The ribeye was perfectly cooked, but needed more seasoning. My guess is because they rushed it, they may have forgotten the salt. The steak sauce (tamarind forward a1) wasn't my cup of tea. On the positives - both of the sides were amazing - highly recommend they put those on the main menu. All in all - there's too many good restaurants in Savannah, I doubt I'll be coming back. Given the ambiance, maybe good idea to come for a drink and dessert? (Although the wine pour was a little weak too).

The bartenders were awesome. Super friendly, fun to talk to, and gave us great recommendations for the rest of our trip. They made us modified espresso martinis based on what we liked/didn't like and absolutely nailed it. Then I got a pickle martini with no vermouth and it was honestly one of the best martinis I've ever had. Like genuinely incredible. It's my new fav. Exactly the kind of place we would become regulars at if we lived here.

Do not get the coffee at Sea Wolf Tybee…read more In Sea Wolf's defense, our server told me as such. I ordered coffee, and he practically begged me not to. "Imagine Folgers... but worse," he said. I grew up on Eight O'Clock coffee--the only brand worse than Folgers-- so opted to brave the drip from Sea Wolf Tybee. How bad could it really be? Really bad. The Sea Wolf Tybee coffee was really, really, bad. The owners have made a deal with the barrier island devil where their successful establishment came at the expense of serving the worst coffee on earth. The coffee wasn't just bland, it was reeking with flavor, as if a tybee island horseshoe crab has been decaying in the coffee pot since the eatery was established in 2020. The server tried his hardest to prevent this 4-star review by warning me about the coffee, and in his defense the taste is not why I deducted Sea Wolf Tybee one star. I deducted one star because the vile 12oz cup of black drip coffee was $5 dollars. Like any diner at a lunch spot, I did not check the coffee's price before ordering it, assuming it'd be the standard $2-3 dollars. Even specialty coffee shops max their drip coffee prices at $4.50. Instead, Sea Wolf Tybee has opted to charge $5, rake-in a 95% profit margin, and exploit the trust of patrons who assume a cup of joe won't cost as much as Georgia's hourly minimum wage. I'm a former barista and coffee-lover, and $5 is the most expensive drip coffee I have ever encountered. Sea Wolf Tybee had outdone itself--the bill was more nauseating than the coffee.
