Illegal business! The woman at the register stole my credit card number. When I was there, she took my card and wrote down the numbers. I thought she needed it for the order, but the next day I saw it was used in the same area for a charge up to $400. This was the only place that I used my card near MIA. Ridiculous. Lunch here and crocs at the Everglades were our highlights of our day today! We tried the Cuban Guys Sandwich and the Vaca Frita. While both were good, we (4 of us) all chose the Vaca Frita as the big winner. Jorge (owner) said it's his grandma's recipe and it did not disappoint! Shredded beef marinated in mojo = YUM. In both sandwiches, the bread, mayo and fried onions combos made both sandos yummy. I especially enjoyed the bread! Nom nom. Coconut flan was a cool combo and good if you're into sweet desserts. Went in around lunch time, there was maybe 3 tables with people and nobody in line, we went up to order and the young lady expected us to instantly be ready to order. I didn't appreciate that but I know when I come here the service is going to be awful. Then I said "I'll have the same" and when she repeated the order she said two different items, I began to correct her and she cut me off to say "thats not what you said" in Spanish. I'm not sure how that could of been confusing. The best part was the food wasn't even good. They put so much black bean water in my bowl it looked like a soup and the plantain were burnt on the bottom and all stuck together like a plantain pancake. Being Cuban I just never thought about coming to this place, I associated it with fast food like BK or McDonalds, so just never peaked my interest, all that has changed as if lunch yesterday. OMG I was blown away by the authenticity of the food, I stopped for take out (perfect for eating in too place is large, clean, but I was rushed) I got the Pan con Bistek, Medianoche, Fritas and 4 diff flan flavors. Three words folks - I Loved It! I'm not an easy Cuban palate to please since my moms cooking as well of my own are hard to beat. honestly I'm thrilled I have a new Cuban favorite. The steak sandwiches, meaty, perfectly sautéed onions, perfect bread, traditional shoe string potatoes chips-yum yum. Not a big frita lover but had an after Irma hankering, boy this frita satisfied and tantalized my every tastebud, the BEST tasting frita patty I've ever had! Very new fast-food type restaurant off the corner of Sunset and 107th. The food is absolutely amazing. I've been there three times in the past two weeks, which definitely speaks to how much I enjoyed my meals. The staff is very friendly if you're eating in, and will even hold your desert until you're ready. So far I have tried the Pan con Bistec, the Frita, and the Dulce de Leche Flan -- all three were absolutely AMAZING. Pan con Bistec -- The steak was perfectly cooked and tasted tangy. It's definitely my favorite thing on the menu right now. Frita - Amazing wide and thin patty with a normal meat color. If you're a fan of the "frita," then you understand that some places have orange patties that are just strange-looking. These are not only pleasing the the eyes, but also incredibly tasty. Dulce de Leche Flan - Need I say more? Perfectly portioned to make you feel like it's only a slight cheat to your diet. Definitely a MUST if you're visiting Cuban Guys. The only con that I must mention is the difficulty of getting in and out of their location. I live on 107th, so I need to turn right on to 72nd and then make a u-turn in a spot that is always incredibly busy. That is sort of annoying, but I can deal with it. I have visited many times and posted pics so it's about time I post a review. My favorite dish is their Frita. For those of you who have never had a Frita it's often referred to as a Cuban hamburger. The ground beef is often mixed with chorizo and different spices. The burger is topped with shoestring potatoes. I have also had their pan con lechon and pan con bistek which are equally as delicious. Their food and service is consistently good. One of the things that I always notice when ordering from a counter style restaurant is the staff. Cuban guys staff know exactly what their function is. They are ready for the next customer and if you haven't ordered dessert they mention the different selections they offer. This is a great strategy in enticing you to try their wonderful desserts. I am very biased when it comes to flan and hardly ever order at a restaurant because there are so many variations on making it that I end up disappointed. I must say not here. I will go in to say that I would love their guava flan recipe because it is amazing. The only negative is that I haven't tried any of their other desserts because I always order the guava flan. After leaving work late, this was the only place that had decent yelp reviews and open in the area. I was delighted to find that Cuban Guys has a special on Monday's where they offer $3.00 pan con bistec (steak sandwich) and for 50 cents more you can make it deluxe (mayo, lettuce, tomato). Not only that, but when you check in, you get a free soda!! Sold! Although, I have driven by on several occasions I was never tempted to try it. It looks like just another cuban food place. I have to say you get your money's worth. The french fries were tasty. The palomilla steak in the sandwich was nicely seasoned and the little crunchy onions were a nice touch. Have had takeout twice since they opened. Actually, twice in the 48 hrs after they opened their doors. Husband had the chicken Cuban bowl on both occasions, he enjoyed it very much, especially the tiny chunks of perfectly ripe plantains. I had their pan con bistec, which was amazing and I think may actually deserve whatever award it got for best pan con bistec in the world. The meat was super tasty, lots of papitas, I added cheese which was melted and delicious, and the grilled onions were tender, tasty, and perfectly cooked. The second go around I had the Frita and added the aforementioned tiny chunks of plantains bc I felt adventurous. It was pretty fantastic. The Frita was juicy, and the plantains added the perfect touch of sweetness. We had their famous guava cheese flan both times and fell in love. It's super rich, creamy, and ridiculously sweet. Service was on point both times. Staff was quick and friendly. The takeout orders were ready in about 7 min or so, which is great. If you're waiting for your food, wait outside bc the inside does leave you a tad stinky. This place is definitely a new favorite. read more

I had never heard of this place, as I am not in the Kendall area as often as I once was. We were in the neighborhood and asked a friend for a recommendation for lunch. She immediately suggested Cuban Guys and the vaca frita sandwich. Sounded good to us! We arrived at the restaurant around noon. They were fairly busy. The establishment is on the small side, but we scored a table. We ordered the recommended vaca frita sandwich, as well as a Cuban sandwich. Tab was about $14 after tax, which seemed a little pricey, since we didn't get any sides or add-ons. It seems the idea here is decent Cuban food in a fast food setting, rather than a sit down setting, such as La Carreta. Maybe you're paying for the convenience? Anyhow, the sandwiches were quite tasty. The vaca frita seemed a tad dry (a very small tad), but I'm a condiment girl, so it could've been a matter of taste. The Cuban sandwich was very good, with a lot of meat. If in the area, I would try this place again, and order other items, as I've also heard good things about the desserts. Classic Cuban comforts with a fast food look. That's what Cuban Guys is to me. The Frita was delicious, perfect size for anyone who eats fritas. The caramelized onions were a good touch. I'm dying to go back for their specials! I also tried their award-winning steak sandwich. To me, good, but definitely not the best. It's not the size of the steak, or the bread, it's just that something was missing. I didn't enjoy it like the Frita. And the flan? I love Cuban Food, especially sandwiches. Heard great things about Cuban Guys through my friends who had gone to the Hialeah location, so I decided to give them a try. Several things impressed me right off. First off is the cute outside eating section, then Cuban music playing & the Red, White & Blue color decor.....loving it all. Being in Miami since 1958, I speak English only. Many times I've gone to a Cuban Restaurant & no one speaks English, so I have to point & hope I get the right thing, or have a customer translate. On 2 occasions I was told I should learn Spanish, where upon I just walked out. Here at Cuban Guys a manger took my order....in English...okay I'm sold. Ordered the Sandwich Cubano, which came out quick. It was nice & hot, the bread was crunchy, you get a good portion of meat & the flavors were awesome. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Everyone was friendly, the manager who took my order asked several times how I liked it....nice touch.....plus another manager was talking to customers at their tables. The Cuban Guys are my go-to for amazing French fries - crisped to perfection. They have plenty of Cuban staples, from sandwiches, fritas, to pastelitos and coffee, but the food can be a bit greasy. I just moved by Cuban Guys and I'm pretty sure the staff is over seeing my face. I absolutely love this place, it's quick, clean, and the food is really yummy. I've ate in but I usually pick up on my way home. The Vaca Frita cuban bowl is so good! Considering this is pretty much a fast food place you wouldn't thik it would be so tasty...but it is. I've been trying to find a place to match up with the pan con bistec in Hialeah from la vina . This gets pretty close there , the pan con bistec is very savory with lots of flavor . Great place, great food, great people. Try the coquitos (the coconut macaroons covered in dulce)- they are outrageously good and cooked to perfection. My girlfriend and I have been here multiple times and the food is great- from the fritas to the vaca frita burger. For the vaca frita burger, make sure you specify how you like the vaca frita (they default to softer vaca frita because it is more popular I imagine, but I love that crunchy, hard to chew vaca). They are very accommodating. Haven't had the breakfast yet, but it looks good. Also, be careful in the afternoon (past 4, when they have their specials), it gets packed. Very popular place for a reason. When you look at the bad reviews, just remember this isn't your grandma who is cooking. They don't know how you like your food, so tell them. This little place is small but very delicious. They make the food fresh and on the spot. It's not your average fast food joint they have a Latin twist to there food. I ordered there signature Frita burger and it was really good. If you are feening for some pastelitos, Cuban guys has bakery options (most types of pastelitos, juices, etc.). It is in a small shopping center that has a good amount of parking. My favorite about this place is that there is both inside and outside seating. Let me say, I am a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to my Fritas. I typically go to El Mago de la Frita on Calle 8, but man was I happy with the Frita these guys make. They give you a load of the the crispy onion julienne on top that gives it that little extra greasy crunch. The patty is also thicker than your average Frita. I also really like the brand on the top of the bun, makes it look really special. Their fries remind me of Miami Subs fries, but more natural, if that makes sense. This is a cut above your typical fast food joint, they deliver on quality and portions. We told the employee it was a craving and we bought one original flan and tres leches. When he packed our order he gave us three free flans so I could try all of the flan flavors out!!!!!!!
