~ Delusione e Disonore ~ I ordered a baked ziti. As soon as I got there, the chef saluted me as if I was the American flag. Then, he bows halfway as they would in Asian countries such as South Korea. No one should have to be mocked, disrespected, or insulted by a restaurant. I walked out of Cucina Bene Pizza and called Grubhub to receive compensation for my order. This is a small pizzeria hidden on a side street in the Financial District. I had few regular slices here and the pizza was not bad even late night. Slices are very very thin so if you don't like thin slices you will not like this place. Also these slices have very little cheese and sauce on them unlike the classic NYC pizza. The service was good and got my slices quickly however it was very late and no one else was there. read more

As far a a NYC pizzeria it is everything you'd expect it to be. The pizzas are perfectly average but cheap, there is indoor seating with some TVs, and the staff is curt but polite. However, the pizza I got looked a little old and tired, but was still perfectly passable. read more

The pizza is very pricey and it's not that good. Very dry, almost no toppings, and the flavor choices are not great at all. There are many better options nearby and I'm not sure why you would choose this. read more

Pick up or delivery only due to covid. Pizza is amazing, loaded with fresh topping. Crust was thin and crispy, cant go wrong with that combination. Staff was super friendly and helpful. All I have try is their Cheese Pizza, not because I am cheap, but because they offer a great deal. Good, tasty pizza. 2 Slices for $5 + Soda, No taxes, No extra fees. Some oregano, some Parmesan cheese and you are good to go. Their pizza is not the Best Best Best One, but the flavor is among the bestSs and the slices are pretty big. read more

Solid, clean neighborhood pizzeria joint, located on an assuming side street just a block away from Wall Street. Crust was light and fresh, a bit crispier and less doughy than the classic NY experience but delicious nonetheless; my chicken and mushroom slice had a generous portion of both toppings. Old pizza that has been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. I saw all the sad-looking pizza on display (several pies just sitting out), but decided to try it anyway. They warmed the pizza up in the oven for me, but a second warmup doesn't fix anything about the pizza. You can find a better pizza, well, anywhere. Minimal sauce, hard crust, clumpy cheese. Gave it 2 stars instead of 1 simply because the garlic rolls were delicious, and it was decently priced ($12 for a can of soda, garlic knots, and 2 slices of pizza). read more

If you're a fan of garlic knots, you have to try the ones at Cucina Bene. They're amazingly soft and extremely garlicky. I keep ordering garlic knots for takeout from here because they're just that good. I'm still trying to figure out what other dishes Cucina Bene excels in, but I haven't had much luck. I've had the baked ziti but it tasted too bland. The buffalo wings aren't too bad but super tiny. The lasagna was served in a circular tray and only a small area in the center of the tray had meat. read more

Very standard NY slice. I know they make the dough fresh everyday, but I'm pretty sure most places do. As far as ingredients go, they're probably not organic or top of the line. The pizza doesn't have a wow factor, but if you're just really hungry and want to have a slice, this is fine. I should mention that they renovated the interior since I've moved down here. It's nicer and cleaner than it used to be. I can't remember if the prices went up since I wouldn't consider myself a regular. I think it's a bit overpriced for what you're getting... Other places in the area can be more expensive, but they're ingredients are much better quality. read more

If I was getting ready to slit my wrists and wanted a slice of pizza to match my head space, I'd make a stop here before heading to my favorite bar with a juke box for a last drink. Quite the depressing ambiance in this place. As a rubbery, almost inedible looking pie lays on the counter without a single slice missing, you begin to ponder how you wound up in such an establishment in NYC. For pizza nonetheless. Pizza is good if you prefer a thinner crust and lighter sauce. But, like all of the reviewer's have said, expect the pizza to have been sitting out for a while. The place feels dirty, from the garbage piled high right outside to the apparent dust bunnies hanging off of every ceiling feature. I've also always been disappointed in the service. Think, two guys that barely speak English, watching the Hallmark Channel from the customer seating. I am a repeat customer, but moreso because I can consistently expect the same thing each time - decent pizza, terrible everything else. After tonight however, I will no longer recommend Cucina Bene. Tonight, I asked one of the workers how much for a pie (debating whether to buy 4 slices or the whole shebang). He said, "$44". I was taken aback but he wasn't kidding. The menu board was way too busy for me to sort through and I didn't want to deal with it so I said "no, that's ok", and walked out. Afterwards, he chased me down and said, "ok, for you, "$42". I was actually now offended because the only reason I could think that they could pull this off was that I looked like an aloof tourist (insert whatever stereotype you might have about a person from a minority group here). My mind almost never goes here, but I've never been treated like this. After this experience, I now recall two other experiences - last time I was there, another worker was similarly sketchy when ringing me up, as if he was trying to see if he could pull off charging me a few extra bucks. It was sketchy to the point that it raised my spider senses, but I let it go because, hey, it's a New York City small business, right? The other time was during Hurricane Sandy - nobody had any power or running water, but Cucina Bene was nonetheless selling (ostensibly unsanitary) pizza at outrageous prices. I think the mind tends to push these things into the deep recesses until something catalyzes it into the forward part and now, I am done with Cucina Bene once and for all. read more

Stopped in while walking around in the Wall Street area. Pizzas were by the slice and very good. They also whipped up a quick shrimp parm sandwich, using breaded shrimp. Smallish eatery had multiple regulars eating late lunch on a rainy day with a down market. read more

Grabbed some pizza at Cucina Bene on Tuesday evening. Below average pizza in a shop that was too dirty for the number of customers visiting. Quality: From the moment I first looked at the pizza on display I could tell I was not going to be excited. They did not look attractive and heated up it got no better. The crust on the end was nearly non-existent and hard as a rock. The sauce was extremely salty and it was very light on cheese. The Buffalo Chicken Slice was strips of greasy chicken that did not really heat up and had no buffalo flavor. The Ricotta and Spinach Slice was probably the best of the three I tried as it moved away from their usual sauce and cheese. Quantity: Standard NY Pizza Slice size. Value: $3.00 for a Cheese Slice. $4.00 for Chicken Cutlet Pizza Slice and Ricotta and Spinach Slice. Ambiance: Cucina Bene is down a side street very close to the NY Stock Exchange in the Financial District of Manhattan. The shop is small and easy to miss. Inside it is long and deep with a small eating area up front and the counter in the back right area. They had a single television showing news towards the front and hip-hop music playing in the background. Crowd: One other person in the shop, who was shouting at someone on the phone the entire time. Service: Many of the tables were dirty and covered with trays and plates. The hidden garbage in the front makes it tough for customers to know where to deposit trash and none of the staff seemed interested in cleaning up. Parking: Extremely challenging parking situation. read more

It is a hidden gem and if you like old-school garlic knots and calzone this is a place for you to go to. I love calling in for my order and in 10 minutes Asel it is already done. The bag even includes napkins and a fork and knife plastic set without me asking. Love that level customer service and I strongly recommend coming here. The calzone is very good read more

honestly some of the cheapest pizza I've ever had.. Especially for New York City pizza.. It was way overpriced for pizza that's worth a dollar.. there's better dollar slice pizza than this place .. the chicken roll had maybe half a chicken cutlet at most and it had no sauce in it and it cost 9 bucks.. Honestly, with pizza, I'm not too picky. If I'm coming home from work late on a Friday night or was out at a happy hour a bit too long and want pizza, I'll come here. Cucina Bene's open till midnight daily, which helps for trying to get late night food fast. I usually only get 2 cheese slices (maybe 3 if I'm greedy) to go. No pies and nothing special. I judge pizza spots on whether they're cheap and whether they can make the easiest thing ever: cheese pizza. Cucina Bene passes the test for me. read more

This is one of the few decent pizza places in FiDi, but it does seem like they know it. The pizza is slightly pricier than other areas of the city. A la carte slices are pretty solid, but whole pies leave room for disappointment. I ordered a whole pie, half sausage and half pepperoni, but got something closer to 1/4 of each. Forget about actually going to Albania - just visit this place. Feels like you're in another country - the weird music, soccer in a foreign language on the enormous TV, the sketchy guys behind the counter. The pizza doesn't get much worse - it's like eating a foot - so please only eat here when you're drunk. The garlic knots aren't bad. read more

Part of the problem I feel is they are trying to go for a vibe that has a New York and modern feel. It does not work. Stay true to one or the other. Or at least look at other business models. I will use another pizzeria in Bushwick that exemplifies it perfectly. It is a hipster pizzeria in a hipster neighborhood. Through balance, it creates an ambiance both welcoming and warm without losing any of its Bushwick character. It does this by not beating you over the head with hipster vibes, just enough to let you know that you are in Bushwick. The band Franz Ferdinand was playing as I was wrapping up. Rather than take the pizza out, I suggest you throw it out. Overall pizza rating: 1.7/5
