This was by far one of the best Italian restaurants I've been to! I was skeptical at first but once I was seated and greeted by our waiter Austin, the experience was starting off on a good note. The fresh made bread was amazing! We had some chanterelle mushrooms as appetizer and let me tell you, AMAZING!!! The richness and texture came together so well! We then had the chef specials of the night which included salmon and sweet potato gnocchi and then a steak and lobster surf and turf combo (the lobster was from Maine and it was bigger then most lobster tails I've had). They were both cooked to perfection and so so good. We ended the night with a lemon and blueberry tiramisu. A must try! If you're ever in Blue Ridge, it was only a 10 minute or less drive and very worth it! read more

I have been coming to Blue Ridge GA for 13 years spending from 2 weeks renting cabins to 8 years owning. Each summer I've eaten in Cucina Rustica at least once. Last night my family and I had dinner there. The quality of the food (excellent) service (outstanding) still just great. Originally owned and operated by a NY family by way of Atlanta the menu and food reminded you of a fine NY Italian restaurant. My husband and I have eaten here many times in the past few years and the food is pretty good, not great. It's not good enough to be treated cold and rude. They insist on a reservation, even if the restaurant is almost empty. If you get there early, you'll be greeted, not with a smile, and will be told that they will not seat you until your reservation time. I try to be early for things and don't mind waiting until my reservation time even if the parking lot is basically empty. If your meeting friends don't get there right at the reservation time, 5 minutes after your reverberation time, they will come and tell you that they will not hold your reservation more than 15 minutes. This happened to us last night. We had a 5:30 reservation, we got there at 5:20, our friends were pulling in the parking lot at 5:35, when we were told that they wouldn't hold our reservation more than 15 minutes, and it was only 5 minutes past our reservation time. I quickly told them that we'd go somewhere else and never come back here. I enjoy doing business with a local place that appreciates customers and expresses that, not one that acts like they don't want your business if you can't arrive exactly at the reservation time, especially at 5:30, when they parking, is not even half full. Another night we tried to get a 5:15 reservation and was told that wasn't possible, but 5:30 was. We took the 5:30 reservation, no big deal, we get there early and are told they will not seat us until the reservation time; again we're fine with that. They finally seat us several minutes late and we're in a room of maybe 10 or so tables and only 1 other table is occupied. I just don't understand the big deal about the reservation when the restaurant isn't busy. Seems they have double standards also, it's okay for them to seat you past your reservation time, but their customers better not be a few minutes late. Like I said earlier the food is good, but not good enough to warrant poor customer service. The Frutti De Mare was amazing! Our server Lori gave the best service. This was our first trip to North Georgia and definitely not our last.

We had the veal osso bucco and lobster stuffed ravioli. Both were very good and the portions were large. We both ended up taking 1/2 home. We also had salads and shared an appetizer. The mixed house salad was fairly large salad of fresh greens. The garlic romaine salad was a little disappointing for its price. While it was good, I was hoping for the romaine to be charred on the grill. Service was excellent. There were a couple of large parties in the dining room the night we were there so the noise level was a little loud. read more

Made a reservation/ been here many times with prior owners and loved it. Tonight was disappointing. Waited over 10 minutes for waiter and water and they were not busy. Lasagna Bolognese was hard as a rock on top- they kept it too long in waiting to be served. Special linguine with clams was ok but not superb as the previous dishes had been by other owners. Very disappointing to spend these prices in Morganton and not enjoy it any better. read more

My boyfriend and I came up here from the city and must say it was exceptional and easy comparable to anything in the city. Our server was fabulous and knowledgeable in the wine list. We had 4 courses and they all came out in a timely manner and were each uniquely delicious. The only thing I have to say that they could improve on is some music. Quality food & wine. My husband's family is Italian so it's hard to find quality Italian while dining out without preparing it ourselves- but they do a great job here! There are two restaurants that are colocated, Cucina Rustica and La Pizzeria. Both are great in their own right. Cucina Rustica is great for authentic Italian dining. La Pizzeria is great for, well, pizza and casual dining in a Sports Bar (yes, there is a bar) atmosphere. read more

Not as good and menu is different even if name of the dish is the same Way more expensive, probably $12 per person as peas/ mashed potatoes are not included nor is the salad so these are a la carte. No cannollis. Service is very good but more leisurely not sure how often we will return. Not sure why they changed the menu even if new chef. There are many more choices on the menu. True European experience. The meal is an experience in and of itself. All handmade... all delicious. Best salad dressing.. just enjoyed every bite. My husband and I had dinner here last night and it was FABULOUS! The service was prompt and friendly and our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and specials. We ordered the lobster ravioli with a sherry cream sauce (we cleaned the plate!) and the penne al la vodka, both excellent. A getaway from the big city of New Orleans, I was not prepared to be impressed but I was with the main meal. The veal "Vitello rustica" and the "tortellini all nonna" were exceptional. The service was excellent". It's a pet peeve I don't like to be called GUY'S but it is difficult to find refined waters anywhere! The apprizers; they were out of polenta and the tomato dipping sauce for the tortellini was light tomato flavor and not rich. We have been there 3 times. As locals we want to see local restaurants do well, but we've had it with the restaurant. The pizzeria next door is good. Their prices are ridiculous for the plates they serve. My dinner was not edible, sent back once, second time I gave up, literally went to the bathroom to spit it out, I could not swallow it.... cedar plank cod with basil almond pesto came, obviously pan roasted, 2 tiny "end pieces, no pesto in sight.... brocolini that was nasty, fingerling potatoes, unremarkable... Captain D gives you more fish.... he later heard a discription of the fish as "pan-seared" with some kind of sauce... my Cannelloni that was inedible twice, first being to hard to cut into, then "steamed with an awful watery sauce that was supposed to be a creamy Gouda sauce.... 3rd person's Veal Parm, no sides, no potatoes, pasta nothing but a wet blog of arugula on it, we left in the to go box on the table. They did comp a desert for the birthday person. After complaining we got ghosted, having to ask for our check, which included the awful lobster cannelloni. I actually took my wine glass to a gentleman that appeared to be working there, a new glass of wine magically appeared on my table when I got back. Sorry, the servers, employees try, they try to be upbeat and kind. Bottom line will never recommend this restaurant. Again the Pizzeria next door is good. Enjoyed a late meal here. The staff was excellent. The food was good. The lamb lollipops were outstanding as were the deserts.

Best restaurant near Blue Ridge! Tops in service, atmosphere, price, and quality. Try the lasagna, or the lamb chop stuffed with fontina cheese with mushroom gravy......great! Beware, the portions are large. Salad is served family style and is delicious too. They have a separate pizza restaurant next door and it too is wonderful! When we arrived at our cabin, for our girls weekend, it was in the middle of a cold front coming through; complete with 50 mph winds, rain and storms looming. We thought about staying in our cabin, but once there was a lull in the storm we decided to venture down the mountain and hit the closest restaurant; Cucina Rustica was well worth the long decent down the mountain. It was raining when we got there and the hostess ran out to our car to assist my Mom and sisters inside, impressive beginning. The atmosphere is casual, but elegant. Our waitress was outstanding and the menu had a good variety. We started off with the Fontana Cheese Dip; outstanding! The cheese was melted perfectly with accents of garlic and we think rosemary; YUMMY! The four us ordered something different, so I got a chance to try everything. I ordered the special of the night, New York Strip with garlic mashed potatoes and peas. The steak was seasoned well and cooked perfectly. My Mom ordered the Chicken Parmesan and said it was the best she had ever had, my other sister ordered the eggplant dish, it was equally delicious. And my other sister ordered the tortellini soup and it was obvious the pasta was made fresh. We topped off our meal with the Tiramisu. My sister is the sweets snob said she LOVED it! We really had a great meal to kick of our annual girls weekend. We actually enjoyed it so much, the following night we decided to pick up Cucina's To Go and headed back to our cabin. Between the leftovers we had, the Veal Parmesan and the fantastic pizza we ordered from the next door, we had another delicious meal while we enjoyed the amazing views of the mountains from our front porch. I don't discount other users' opinions, but I must say the naysayers apparently just caught Cucina Rustica on a bad night. Our visit tonight was delightful. We handled reservations through their website. When we arrived, we were seated immediately. Our evening, beginning at 6:00 pm on a Saturday was very quiet, with normal conversation very easy to maintain. Wife had the Lobster Cannelloni. She continuously praised it. I tried a bite and considered it phenomenal. I had one of tonight's specials: Butcher's cut Bone-in Kansas City Strip, with garlic mashed potatoes & broccoli. One of the top five steaks I've ever had. Wife opted for dessert, as I preferred a salad beforehand. I decided on the Classic Romaine. It has garlic dressing, caper ricotta spread, crostini, & shaved Parmigiano. Shared with the wife. We both thought it was extraordinary. An all-around excellent experience. Our waitress, Mariyah was also excellent. Will request her again whenever we get back up to this neck of the woods. read more

The small farm house restaurant has as good Italian food as you can get in a fine NY city restaurant and that's exactly where the owners came from. Food is excellent and the service is professional. They have a sister restuarant La Pizzeria next door that is casual and the food is also great. I suggest you have a reservation on the weekends for Cucina Rustica. We came here for our last dinnner in town. We had a party of 10 including kids and they were more than accommodating. Our original reservation was for 6:30, we got there at 5:45 thinking we'd just got a cocktail and they seated us right away. The pasta and red sauce were to die for. Kids got chicken parm, salad, and a pizza and loved it. Adults had lasagne and a some kind of fettuccine with chicken meatballs which was great. Great food under new ownership. They have a new expanded menu with a twist on some of the old favorites. I ordered the wild mushroom ravioli which was delicious, though heavy handed with the onions and garlic in the sauce. I preferred it with the vodka sauce from the previous menu. My rating is based solely on the food as the service tonight was lacking and disappointing. If I based it on the overall experience it would be a 3. To pay a lot for food and get poor service is never an enjoyable experience. I will go back once more to try some of the new menu items and hope the staff will be more attentive, more knowledgeable about the menu and better trained. read more

There's an Italian fare and a pizza place. We tried both for dinner on 2 days. The Italian side was definitely pricier but good portions too. It's a nice place if you are willing to spend ($100 for 2 adults and a child). We liked the pizza place better - great beer, good pizza, quick service. read more
