There's an Italian fare and a pizza place. We tried both for dinner on 2 days. The Italian side was definitely pricier but good portions too. I live in Blue Ridge and my husband and I love Cucina Rustica. We also frequent La Pizzaria (next door and same owners) often. Excellent Italian food and the staff is attentive without being overwhelming. My only drawback is that if you want to add chicken to a pasta dish you must call in advance (????) They just don't make adjustments to their dishes. All in all, very good food. read more

Italian in Blue Ridge, GA!!!??? Finally, my wife and I found an amazing restaurant with A+ service and out of this world food. Ellen was our server and she recommended the tortellini for my wife and she was spot on...Absolutely amazing! I had the wood oven cooked lasagna and it was delicious! Not only was the main dishes amazing but the complimentary bread was a melt in your mouth experience. Finally the antipasto appetizer was something straight out of Italy with sun dried tomatoes, olives, red peppers, basil, salami, ham and 4 different cheeses! My wife has been to Italy and she said it was presented and tasted just like they do it in Italy. To top off this amazing dinner they gave us a military discount by taking my meal off the bill!! To pay it forward, I took the cost of my meal and gave it to our server as her tip...Ellen was amazing! As we were walking out Ellen told us the chef/owner wanted to thank me for my service and she took me back into the kitchen to do so. The chef/owner and her staff thanked me and I made sure to express my gratitude for her generosity and excellent food and restaurant. The absolute best place to dine in north georgia! We have been dining here at least twice a month for the past 6 years. The food is outstanding, staff top notch, great atmosphere, lots to choose from on the wine menu. My favorite dishes are the mushroom ravioli, chicken Parmesan, eggplant rollatini and tortellini nona. Always consistent and always fresh! Plenty of focaccia bread and salad is included in the meal. Excellent food and wine in a quiet romantic atmosphere. The eggplant rollatini and shrimp scampi is excellent. Fresh wonderful salad with fresh baked bread served before entre. We love the place. It is pricey, but worth every penny to splurge now and then. read more

Under new ownership. The menu has changed, and not for the better. Gone are some of my old favorites - Veal Parmigiana and Grouper Picatta. Portions were noticeably smaller. A side salad costs as much as an entrée. The croutons were flavorless and way too big. We actually had to ask for bread and only got 4 small pieces for a party of six. Service was poor. Probably will not be going back. Too bad because the previous owners, chef, menu and staff were top notch! read more

I love great Italian food. Cucina Rustica is among the best that I have had in 40 years. The food is authentic and delicious (I had crepes, my husbands had shrimp scampi) and the focaccia is as amazing as it gets. Ate at the pizzeria part of the restaurant. Had the signature bleu chips drizzled with a balsamic vinegar reduction - very tasty. The pizza bianco was somewhat tasty but felt the balsamic reduction drizzled over the top was too strong a flavor for the delicate spinach (uncooked and just scattered on top) and fontina cheese topping. I feel this would be an awesome pizza if instead of the spinach and balsamic drizzle, a topping of roasted pine nuts or walnuts would be perfect. My family and I are here while visiting blue ridge. First let me say the food was good...really good. Our service was terrible. Our reservation was at 8...We got seated at 8:15..not terrible so we were fine. The waitress comes to the table and takes our drink order and appetizer. We get our appetizer of fried ravioli which was good. About 10 minutes after we eat that she comes and tells us that have to find more lettuce for our salad it's gonna be a few minutes. 10 minutes later we get our salad and it was yummy. She comes back 20 minutes later and tells us I'm sorry your food is gonna be awhile and it's her fault she said. Finally an hour after we were seated our food comes. Food was good but we are aggravated. Finally she brings our check and takes our plates and drops a knife on our sons glass and it breaks and glass goes everywhere. Can't believe we paid 100.00 for this experience! However we did receive a call from the owner the next day apologizing for our experience and letting us know that our experience did not reflect the standard of his restaurant. He is mailing the cost of our meal back to us and asked us to get in touch the next time we are in the area for a free dinner served by his best server. We look forward to returning. read more

The new management is doing a great job! After coming here 4 or 5 times in the past we had written this off our list as our last visit was terrible both with the food and the service. That said we were tipped off to new management so we gave it another try and I am so glad we did. It was excellent. The service was on point and super friendly. When we were trying to decide on a bottle of wine they gave us a tasting which helped us decide which was great as I would not have enjoyed my initial pick had I just gotten the bottle and the suggestion by the server really was better. The fried calamari with artichoke and salmon was so good for a starter and the oysters were big and meaty. The Scampi Piccata did not disappoint and had a really light quality to it, which is hard for a pasta dish. The Zuppa da Pesce was killer served in a hot pot and a big enough serving to end up taking some home. Service was excellent, food was excellent, what can I say other than we will be back! read more

We haven't been here in 3 years but always enjoyed dining here when we went regularly. Last night we thought of going out for a nice dinner and this was where we wanted to go. We were unaware of the new ownership, what a disappointing comparison to previous experiences. The bread basket was 4 skimpy, slightly stale pieces of bread, the refill was worse....that bread was sitting around for quite a while to be that dried out and stale tasting. The house salads were very nice, big and tasty with an assortment of fresh lettuces. Then my shrimp and polenta arrived, it smelled like something was going bad; I ended up barely eating any of it and although I did bring it home I left it in the trash can. The desserts were ok, I left cheesecake behind on the plate. The creme brulee was middling good. The menu was very small print and the lighting is dim so it's not easy to read the menu or the wine list. Would I go back? I doubt it, the salad was very good but is that enough for a return visit? read more

It was my parents 60th anniversary, we had a party of 9; all ordered dinner we had Champaign, and 2 additional bottles of wine. When making the reservations days in advance I asked if there was something special they did, or would do, to acknowledge my parents 60th anniversary. The person I spoke with said yes, they would provide a special dessert. Well, to begin with the service was weak and somber for such a festive occasion, except for the bus boy he was great! The food (i had the eggplant) was also much less than I expected for the price - I could not taste the eggplant among all the cheese that smothered the dish, but I could have lived with all of that had this not happened: When it was time for dessert the server asked if we wanted to order desert, I discreetly as possible whispered to her that I had phoned ahead and that was already arranged. much to my surprise a min later a manager/owner type-like man (i am not sure he never introduced himself) squatted next to me and whispered in my ear in a very mater-of-fact tone that "I was misinformed, they do not give out free dessert!" To which i replied I phoned ahead concerning my folks 60th anniversary. This he replied, "well, who did you speak to so i know who to go after a guy or a gal", to which I replied a guy. "To this he replied, I will bring you out a dessert even though we don't do that, but at least now I know who to go after.", as though his internal affairs were somehow important to me. He then left in a huff without ever acknowledging my parents or the festive occasion or the fact that we were spending a significant amount of money in his restaurant! I mean, how many opportunities will they have to be the restaurant of choice for a family to celebrate a couple's 60th anniversary?? Well, if they do - I sure hope they get their head out of the sand and remember why they are in business in the first place. Oh, and by the way, for dessert, they brought one piece of tiramisu and 9 spoons! You know - you only get one chance to make a first impression and our first impression of your leadership was poor, and since everything rises and falls on leadership I leave Cucina Rustica as a disappointed and dissatisfied customer! read more
