Sun, 4/14 brunch with a friend. So y'all! You know from previous posts, I have had nothing but good things to say about the food here and, don't get me wrong, I still love the food here. But today I ordered my love, Feta Tahini Dip! I did request a smaller portion of ciabata toast, grilled darkly, because it's usually served with way more bread than needed. I get my order and there are 2 very thick, barely toasted pieces of bread (unlike the usual thin, crispy slices). I mention to the waitress and she offered other suggestions, and they did not have crackers, so I opted not to eat (as I am usually fine with). Mins later, the manager comes out to discuss and mentions they have recently changed vendors. I was fine with that and thanked him for coming over. I did not insult or complain about the Chef or anything else. My friend got her meal and loved it. We stop the Manager to make him aware of how much she enjoyed. As I'm talking to him, here comes someone from the kitchen to stand there and give me the nastiest, snide look I had ever seen. When I asked if he needed to speak to me, the Manager I am speaking with introduces him as another one of the restaurant Managers. Throughout the entire time my friend and I sat there talking, several employees here came over to get a look at "the woman who did not eat her food" and ensure I got that same snide glare. Just so you people know, there was no complaint about the meal or the Chef, you just did not provide the same consistent meal that I had fallen in love with. Just not sure how that personally offended so many staff members. I'm aware of this restaurants' reputation and how they have publicly had to defend it in the past, and yet, I still choose to dine here. Maybe train employees on better behavior and you won't lose loving customers. I can never eat here again because I can no longer trust the staff. I am absolutely totally obsessed with Culinary Dropout. In fact, I went twice last week... don't judge me. The menu has something for everyone. I met a friend for drinks after work and he suggested we go to Culinary Dropout. We sat at the bar and started our outing with drinks. I went through several tastings of their red wine and after a few tries, I decided to have a cocktail. I had a drink named the Evil Jungle Princess. It was anything but evil and was delicious and fruity with a surprise spice topping. Next I was adventurous and tried Tijuana Spa Water. It was herbaceous and spicy. I had to add extra pineapple juice to get through it. Zach and Kyle offered superior service and were excellent bartenders. They were knowledgeable about the menu and suggested a few options. I ended up trying the chicken pot pie soup, gochujang brussels and the whipped feta and tahini dip. The second night I had the soup again and the Butternut Squash and Kale salad. Everything was excellent. Food and drinks are moderately priced ranging from $8.50-$33. I love the posh and metro ambiance. The bar stools are comfortable and there is combination table and booth seating. My only complaint is parking and that is normal for Southend. I was able to get street parking and there is a nearby deck I used the second evening. It's not terrible, but you may have to circle the block if you want one of the premium parking spots in front. They have plenty of outdoor seating and it is perfect for a special occasion or just brunch. So grab a friend and check out this fun and creative spot. read more

The Caramelized Banana Bar was to die for! The mixture of peanut butter, banana and caramel was a tasty combo! They give you a pretty big slice too. Wish I lived in the area to be able to eat this regularly. I also ordered the Prosciutto Deviled Eggs which were good and the Pub Burger which was just ok. Nothing special to note with the burger. The dessert is what leads me to give the 4 stars read more

I have honestly not written a review for a restaurant in a while and usually it's because the experience and food is good, not great and there's nothing to really speak out about. This was NOT the case with CD. This restaurant, the food, the service and beyond was exceptional! I have to give a major shout out to server, Asia and Manager, James. Both made us feel very welcome and acknowledged our celebration multiple times and were such a joy to chat with throughout the night! The food just melted in your mouth and was such a flavor explosion without being overly seasoned or salty. Favorite dish was the Mongolian spare rib. Craving it on the second day already! All in all, you will NOT be disappointed and I highly recommend checking this restaurant out for a date night out. read more

Customer service was great when I picked up my to go order 1 minute before the time to pick up. When I got home to eat the Dbl 1000 burger, it was hard as a rock, nothing juicy at all (there's NO WAY they cook their burgers to order) bread was also hard. So disappointed! Oh well, restaurants will not make it in this day & age unless they have quality & consistency. Such a Beautiful restaurant with potential, such a shame. I've been here a few times now. It came highly recommended. I've been on both a weekend night and during the week. I do suggest reservations; they're on OpenTable. There's street parking and a deck around the corner that I usually enter next to Charlotte Beer Garden. Whenever I've gone, parking in the deck has been free, but this seems to be dependent on the time of day. There can be a lot going on in here: conversation, live bands, sports on tv, lots of visual stimulation. The staff has always been friendly when I've been there, and it generally feels like a very inclusive place. I've also seen large groups here. It is a spacious venue. The weekend night was a little bit longer of a wait for food/drinks than the weeknights I was there. I tried a Paloma Spritz last time; great if you like grapefruit. I also love their Crispy Shrimp Caesar salad. I've had several friends say their Steak and Frites dish is very good. I was there one night when their soup of the day was chili, and that was great as well. I will say the one thing I've tried to love but don't are their deviled eggs. In theory prosciutto mixed in sounds very good. Still, it didn't impact my overall experience. I've only ever been for dinner but would be interested in going for brunch or lunch sometime. Hi Aubrey!!! yes our server Aubrey was so kind, attentive and incredibly knowledgeable of the menu!!! I was FINALLY able to try this place!! It has been on my list for a while!! The vibe is INSANE!! Live music, super comfortable seating! Parking is not great but what is in uptown. The manger even came by to speak and make sure we were taken care of! I loved the attention from the staff!! Service was A1! The food . I got the steak frites with fries and a side of Mac and cheese. It wasn't terrible. But I was a little disappointed in the Mac and cheese. Tasted very bland. The steak was really good!! The fries were, fries, they didn't necessarily wow me. The deviled eggs were good but the amount of filling was a little overwhelming. I still give this place 4/5 stars but that could change when I return because I definitely will be back!! I am interested in trying that fried chicken I saw on the menu!!! So, my friend and I came here when we were visiting back in January. The food was good, so fast forward to May, we came back. We both ordered the Korean style ribeye cap. Our server Josh was exceptional! Like so ah-mazing! A manager, Teagan, came over and told us that they'd ran out of the ribeye but offered to make the skirt steak in the same style. Initially I was annoyed because a few items were unavailable so this was just another hit. HOWEVER! That was the most tenderest, buttery, flavorful meal, I've had in a long time! It was for sure spicy but my friend and I both finished our plates. It was my friend's birthday and they offered us a dessert. We tried the monkey bread. Again, chef's kiss. This was maybe my second time in Charlotte and we were looking for something that we couldn't get from home (the DMV area). I was traveling with 5 women for "Galentine's" festivities. The place was pretty empty as we went in the middle of the day on Monday. But it was fabulous! Our server's name was Alex. He didn't write down a single thing and got us everything we needed and in a timely manner. The place had a beautiful decor and it looked like they may have like open mic nights or something. The ambience was nice but that was it. Menu choices mediocre, nothing stood out. The pick your own charcuterie board was expensive and pathetic. 4 small slices of cheese, small amount of prosciutto, pimento cheese dip but they didn't bring the bread to put it on w/o us asking. Had the steak with fries, the worst tasting steak Ive ever had. Husband ordered coffee with Frangelico which the waitress never heard of and they didn't have. Ordered coffee with Irish cream which she brought the coffee and ten minutes later brought a "side of Irish cream". This is my second time coming here for dinner and it was just as good as the first time! The service has always been spot on and quick. Our waitress was attentive the entire time and was kind! The inside is large with many different tables, booths and a bar located in the middle! My food was so delicious!! I did not want my plate of brussel sprouts to end! Culinary dropout has made its way to Charlotte! I'm familiar with the concept because I've worked with their Phoenix location in the past for a large corporate event. I was super impressed then and continued to be impressed with our experience in Charlotte. Our group had originally planned for breakfast nearby, but that did not work out so we walked into Culinary Dropout. It's absolutely gorgeous inside. On a Friday around 11 am they had live music, which was a vibe. The lunch menu has a lot of options. We started with the cheese dip and pretzel bites. They were amazing. I opted for the steak frites, and had asked for two fried eggs instead of fries which they were happy to accommodate. My table mates plates also looked delicious. Service was so friendly and the food was excellent. Would definitely go back when in the area, especially for their weekend brunch! read more

Back to Culinary Droupout- definitely younger crowd. Young professionals. Honestly, as I sat at the bar by myself, I was entertained by the conversation of the 2 twentysomethings next to me. Cheap entertainment. 1) outstanding service! Loved sitting at bar- they shared serving duties and every single one of the servers were polite, pleasant, helpful and efficient. 2) very tasty food. I enjoyed the Korean steak- seasoned ribeye with roasted veggies. Great serving amount- not too much, not too little. 3) so that I could take in late of neighbors conversation, it was getting juicy at that point, ordered the banana dessert. Light, interesting flavor profiles & just the right ending to a good meal. Can't forget the DK's daiquiri. Would had 2 if I didn't have to get myself home. good stuff. Underwhelming is what I would say our experience was. I had very high hopes it sounded like the food would be fantastic. We are foodies and love really eclectic menus, but unfortunately, it just didn't live up to our expectations when we first got there we had reservations the place was fairly empty and initially our reservations were for the patio area, but we opted to stay inside as there appeared to be several tables and, the person greeting us offered to let us sit inside if we chose to so we did. Another person chose to take us to a table, she took us to the very farthest away in the entire restaurant in a corner and we were all alone. Someone came to us, roughly 10 minutes after we had been seated and apologized for the wait and said they were trying to find our waitress. I'm guessing they had not assigned a waitress to that part of the restaurant as we were all alone over there. So they went ahead and took our drink orders and I ordered an appetizer. Then she came back and she said that they found our waitress and she would be coming shortly and she left. She did give us some silverware and I was unfolding my silverware and my fork still had old food on it. So when the gentleman came through and brought our appetizer I made him aware. He was mortified as he should've been and gave me new silverware thankfully, it was clean, but I think the whole night had just become not so pleasant We did get our food in a timely fashion. Our waitress Rachel was phenomenal. She tried really hard to make up for what was lacking during our experience. As far as the ambience of the restaurant, it's a huge restaurant. There are plenty of seats. I will say most of them were, not occupied when we were there. The food that we received when we did receive it was good however I just felt like it was going to be a more elevated experience than it was. I've been raving about this place since I went last week. So the ambiance is "glamorous sports bar" which I love! The cocktail list is different for most in CLT and has some Caribbean drinks. The pina colada drink was bomb. The food was all so good. Ok the start--the charcuterie was generous and fresh. The tahini feta dip was magic--in-line any flavor I've tasted before--SO good. The rainbow trout was very flavorful and juicy. My guest got the chicken, kale and butternut squash salad and loved it. Everything was bad. I came on a day when there was only about 8 tables, one table indoor and about 6 or 7 outdoors. The hostess and the manger at the desk was not warm or friendly, never said hello never smiled, and never considered a kids menu or accommodation with my 4 year old. Service was below, every server did not look cleaned or groomed at all, I ordered 2 things only: pizza and the pretzels and only the pizza came out. The pizza was shared for two and still didn't eat most of it because it was not good. The sauce was watery and it made the dough mushy. It looks like a beautiful atmosphere but I wouldn't recommend due to simple things like a glass of Sheryl temple came with 3 ice cubes, and watered down. Never complained or showed any dislike while eating here, and still gave a regular tip. read more

We sat outside since it was the first warm patio day of the year- and it was perfect :) the view of the city was awesome and we went for a friends birthday so we enjoyed being able to celebrate her :) I had a Paloma spritz and it was strong and delicious. My friends started with the pretzel bites and cheese and said it was yummy. I try to eat gluten free as much as possible- so I ordered the vegan gluten free curry dish. It was amazing! I would def get it again. My friend ordered the meatloaf and another ordered the pizza and said it was great! The only reason I'm leaving a 4 is because I would love if they offered a gf menu. My waitress was so helpful- but it would be nice to also be able to look at the options and not have to ask! I would def come back- it looks like there is also live music and a big bar.
