Finally!! A great burger in Southtown!! Last time I looked for a burger place, Attaboy hadn't moved to their new location and so I ended up at Burger Culture. Between that place and Burgerteca, I almost gave up on a good burger in this area. (Disclaimer - these 2 places aren't horrible, just not great. And I am a burger snob.) But Attaboy's new location is right on my typical weekend bike ride so I pulled in. Nice looking truck, good location right off Alamo with lots of seating, and there's the ebike shop for browsing when you're waiting on your burger. Prices are high, that's true. Not outrageously high for a food truck, but it is expensive. I paid just at $14 for the special and fries. Damn, I can't stand when a high-end burger place uses frozen fries. But Attaboy's are made fresh and are delicious. Good ketchup as well. The bun was soft and buttery, but held up to the burger. The meat was nicely seasoned, cooked just to medium, and juicy. The special today had caramelized onions and a balsamic reduction. Excellent! Great guys in the truck as well. Other than the price, there wasn't a single negative about Attaboy's. Tried this place out, as nothing else caught my eye. Other than the "seemingly inconvenienced by taking my order" guy, this truck is pretty damned tasty. The sweet potato fries are boss, lightly coated in what seemed like tempura batter and fried up nicely, the burger itself was delicious (got the bacon burger and added a fried egg to make it into what I'm calling a "breakfast burger" (patent pending)) and the bun was sweet (literally). So sad. The first time I ate here it was simply amazing. However, the last two times I've been here the burgers have been overcooked. Everything else is good but when the patty is bone dry due to a heavy hand on the griddle, it kills the burger. No juiciness to speak of. This is my go-to food truck when it's around. The burgers are my favorite in town, and that's a big statement. I usually go with the burger du jour or the bacon cheeseburger. The bacon is always thick and crispy. The burger is meaty and juicy. They grind their own beef to make their burgers, and you can really taste the quality. The bun is fresh baked and fluffy and holds everything together like a dream. Everything is so perfectly balanced; this burger is the one. When I'm craving a juicy burger, this would be my first pick. The fries have some kind of magic fairy dust or some otherwordly sorcery that makes them the best fries you'll get anywhere. The sweet potato fries are definitely incredible, but the regular ones are also awesome. They're thick and delicious. They're crispy and hot and fresh. Attaboy is normally parked at Alamo St. Eat Bar, so you can wash all this down with a delicious draft beer in a casual and laid-back setting. This is how you summer, San Anto. Attaboy Burgers are great and are reasonably priced. I pick them usually when I hit up Alamo Eat Street, but I only mark them one start because I wish they traveled more to other spots (specifically the Weston Centre for Wednesday lunch). I'm definitely a fun of their work. read more

Finally we have a reason to look forward to Mondays! When my husband and I found out that Attaboy was going to be doing Monday night popups at Attagirl, we couldn't believe it. This years has sucked and good news has been hard to come by. The drive through line is really long, but the second time we went, we took a laptop and an ice chest with us and watched the Office while we waited. We ended up having a lot of fun...and then, omg, the burgers were freaking worth it. The first week we just ordered one of everything to try it out...don't look at me like that, its a tiny menu.... anyway, we expected the double to be the winner, but the single has the perfect ratio of goodies to bun, and its pretty small, so we have deemed two singles and a fry, which is also small, but excellent, to be the perfect order. We also got a banana pudding and a four pack of some Kunstler beers, took them over to Brackenridge, and had a really nice time. We were feeling alot of summery nostalgia. Believe the hype. This IS a tasty burger! The burger du noir on our visit was a California, with bacon, guacamole and muenster cheese. Wow. Tried the regular fries with one and the sweet potato with the other. Wow. As with many of SA's trucks, the care put into quality of ingredients and preparation are both blatantly obvious. Expect to wait about 10 minutes even if they're not busy. This stuff is made fresh. Burger (fries are included) were $12 each, so not the cheapest food truck meal, but well worth it. read more

REALLY lousy service. I asked what the jour noir was and the server went on to explain, real snobby like, that it was French and offered some dimwitted explanation. Obviously I wasn't concerned with the semantics--I wanted to know what was in the burger. Then he had the nerve to ask if I wanted to tip him--this was before I even recieved my food. (????). He stared as I settled my bill on his IPAD too. Maybe he was in a bad mood. It seemed like he would have much rather been with his friends, since it took him forever to attend to me because he was busy chatting, and he abandoned the food truck right after to continue after taking my order. This place is great. I always get fries from here when I'm here. Both options are great! The burgers are great as well, I've tried the veggie burger and it was amazing, almost could make me a vegetarian, almost. I would suggest anything on the menu. Unfortunately what I got tonight paled in comparison to my first experience: the buns on my burger tasted like they were three days old and broke apart in a funky manner. So straight to it area is awesome, you got 2 bars to get drinks from the one on the outside is basic drinks and beers but the one inside, yes , yes ,yes bartenders had great convo and make some delicious drinks, although I didn't come for drinks just thought I would let you know lol, But now attaboy burgers, well, I started of with the bacon Cheeseburger and the special fries and man it hit the spot , nice thick jucy patty (wont let you get it medium rare) but comes out medium still juicy and good, the meat was seasoned nice and it was just a good burger not to much cheese and good amount of bacon after I chowed down with that i went for round 2 and felt adventurous which waitress was like is this all for you LOL, I went for the Chef burger of the night which was a beef patty,bacon, a fried corn dog,and a chicken strip, and a fried egg and some fries to top it off all wedge between to housemade buns OMG!!! food orgasm soooo good all the components mixed and did there thang the patty is season and rich, then corn dog gives you that next element and crunch,the bacon (can't go wrong with bacon lol) was just good , the chicken strip took away some of the richness of the patty and corn dog then bang rich egg yolk to kick it up then hit with the special fries man o man what a meal and yes I finished it LOL, I told you burgers is what I do. Yes yes yes, I ate the best burger of my life last night. Bacon , brie, onion jam, on a buttery bun! I was very impressed , it was juicy and seasoned oh so well. We also got some pimento cheese and chips , which came with some spicy homemade pickles. The service was fantastic, you can tell the gal working is really in love with food. My friend and I weren't quite sure what we wanted to eat so she suggested the special and I'm not dissapointed at all. We will be back. read more
