Hand down the best coffee place I've been to in Rhode Island! The service is always great, the coffee is FANTASTIC and even if you have to wait in line it moves pretty quickly. Their online ordering system is organized, and the inside has plenty of places to sit down. Never go to this place!!! Zero stars. I have to say I encountered the poorest customer service I have ever experienced in my life by far! On 7/29 a young woman who stated she is the manager yelled at and humiliated me in front of the entire establishment. I understand it is a difficult time in the restaurant industry although they did not appear to be overly busy or short staffed. Regardless this was unexceptable. The reason for her attack to begin was apparently because I accidentally bumped a bottle of simple syrup. I didn't even realize I bumped because it was kept on a ledge near the side of the table I was sitting at. Regardless the way she treated me as a customer was extremely unprofessional and made me feel completely unwelcome. Unfortunately as a local trying this business for the first time I feel I can never return. Totally do not recommend!!! read more

As a self proclaimed coffee connoisseur, i like to believe that i have the ability to find good coffee. custom coffee house was so unique from the way that they let you see the beans they roast to the various creations they have on hand. I got the Zombie killer both days (with a bit of almond milk and a tad bit sweeter). It was so delicious i came back the second day with friends so they can try the coffee too. Just moved to the area with my Navy husband and after seeing the high rating on Yelp, we just had to try it. Let's just say, this is our favorite so far! We have lived in Japan, Connecticut, and Washington state and have come across some great coffee shops and wasn't sure if we'd find a good one here in RI...Custom House proved to us there is! The man who runs the shop is a Navy veteran so my husband and him got along great and chatting up a storm the first time we visited the store. On the second visit (which was the day after the first visit), they had a small tasting of about 6-7 different coffees ranging from light-medium to dark. Haven't had a bad cup of coffee so far and the quiche and breakfast sandwich I've tried were great! Can't wait to go back! read more

We're in town from TEXAS and read great reviews about this place, so we mapped it out. It smelled so good as soon as you walked in. It's a cute place, great, friendly service with so many different options for delicious coffee and tea! They accommodated and had suggestions, so I ended up with the best ever Chai Tea Latte and a 5 star coffee! I love the decor, the outdoor seating and beautiful flowers! Stop by to eat and drink! Best coffee shop I've been to maybe ever - and I'm a Washington State coffee/chai snob. 11/10. Go there now. Things I loved: - Friendly and knowledgeable baristas. My husband and I asked a few questions and the baristas had the answers. - TONS of coffee and tea options on the menu, plus everything can be customized. There were at least 4 chai options available, and I customized one of them. It was served exactly as I ordered, and nobody was rude about the customization. - Lots of coffee/tea-lover stuff available to buy: chai mixes, travel mugs, beans, etc. It was fun to look at everything. - A real variety of allergy-friendly foods were available: gluten free, dairy free, etc options available. Some options were pre-packaged and other options were fresh. I have food allergies and I wasn't afraid to eat there. 5 stars. - Take out and eat in food options available. My husband and I brought home a gluten free pizza because it looked so good - AND IT WAS. The shop is kind of dark and it has ample seating. Noise was moderate, but we were there in the evening and it seemed like a lot of people were there having dinner. A probably a little quieter during the day. Plenty of seating is provided. I've been a customer since 2009, so at the time of this long-overdue review, that's 14 years! They have the best coffee, period, full stop. My days of hanging out in a coffee shop are over, but I order beans religiously at least twice a month. It's the only coffee I drink (clearly I'm spoiled) but it's still the very best out there. I first want to start by saying the coffee and food is great. I have been coming here every day for my morning espresso. I used to go to Starbucks, but I like this coffee better and it doesn't hurt to support local business. Per my routine, I get my coffee and go back to my car for my morning meeting (I'm not parked in the 15 minute parking). Pre-pandemic, I would sit inside for my meetings. Today, the owner came outside and knocked on my window. He says "Excuse me, why do you park here everyday without buying anything?" I then show him my drink and breakfast sandwich. "Oh, that's from our store?" He says. I was parked for 15 minutes, I tip the great employees everyday and try to stay safe. I wasn't first asked if I bought anything, I was accused. It's not the worst thing in the world, but certainly left a bad taste in my mouth when I was supporting their business. Back to Starbucks, unfortunately. read more

Decent flavored coffee but service does not seem particularly personable if you're not a local regular. Portions are small for what you pay as well. A lot of people seem to like this place and it is full in the mornings. read more

Delicious coffee and a great atmosphere. Indoor and outdoor seating. Awesome cookies half the size of your head. They also have breakfast sandwiches, muffins and other pastries (I try to avoid looking at them so I'm not tempted!) I really enjoy their cold brew Coffee Addict coffee and they offer lots of flavor shots, some available in sugar free. The staff is really friendly and will make you anything you can come with, on or off the menu. They also offer active duty and veteran discounts. Holy Chai-Mazing! The iced, vanilla, sugar free chai tea is so good! Perfect for this hot day! I came here because I had some time to kill in between meetings. The service is really great here because the waitstaff is friendly. Plus, it doesn't hurt that the inside is super cute. The little old fashioned coffee cans in the coffee shop is really cute. But back to the Chai, this feels like I am drinking dessert, but it is sugar free and is made with skim milk. The spice is just right with the hints of cinnamon and sweet vanilla. I highly suggest it! The ice coffee is really good too! I also got a roast beef wrap. It is nothing to write home about but nonetheless it is a good value. I like that it was not drenched in dressing. The wrap was not soggy at all. You get a choice of a banana or chips to go with it. All in all, my meal was $10.87. Not too bad considering I am enjoying their air conditioning and free Wi Fi right now! The only con, a lack of electrical outlets. There is only one, and I am akwardly using it now! read more

The line out the door should tell you all you need to know. The place is great and I went back the next day. My only suggestion is that the baked goods should be covered with a net to keep the flies off. With the doors open and closing, there were a few flies on the pastries and baked goods which was a little unappetizing. It should be pretty easy to add some netting.
