Extremely disappointed in this sorry excuse for an upscale steak house. We came in with a party of 5, figuring it would be expensive but willing to pay for a good meal, especially here in Turlock, without having to drive out of town. We walked in and were seated right away, which was nice (it was a Thursday night, so it wasn't overly busy). Our drink orders were taken fairly quickly, and then we placed our meal orders. My son drank his Pepsi (apparently it was excellent Pepsi, probably the best thing to come out of the kitchen) quickly and was given a refill pretty promptly, but that's where anything good about this place ends. Unless you're ordering a burger, everything on the menu is pretty expensive. Like I said, we expected that, but $51 for a 12 oz NY strip and $64 for filet mignon is still a lot more expensive than a lot of places. My son got the NY strip, the other 4 of us ordered the prime rib sandwiches. I specifically asked what comes on it because I don't like most sauces on my bread. We were told onion, cheese and horseradish. I ordered mine with no horseradish, my husband ordered his plain with just cheese. We waited a long time to get our food. Like a LONG time, a good 45 minutes. We were seated directly across (like 6 feet) from where the food comes out. We saw our food sitting there while literally 4-5 staff members gathered, looking confused as hell while they poured over our orders. We could hear them saying things like "which one is the one with no horseradish?" Or "I need the one that's well done." We literally heard one of them saying "This has been sitting out too long, it needs to be heated up" and LITERALLY take out some kind of blow-torch looking device, lift up the bread with BARE hands and torch the meat. No joke. Some guy in the kitchen also picked through the sandwiches with bare hands, as if trying to figure out which sandwich was which. They stood there for a good 5-7 minutes, looking extremely puzzled and talking amongst themselves to figure out our order--who knew it was so hard? Anyway, my son's steak came first. Overcooked, supposed to be medium but not, and flavorless. They literally only put salt and pepper on it, and didn't even offer the option of a steak sauce. He ate it, but only because he felt too guilty to leave $51 on the plate. My sandwich had nasty ass garlic aioli sauce on it, which I wasn't even informed it had, or else I would've asked for none. Same with my husband's. The waiter could tell I was disgusted because he asked me what's wrong. I told him I wasn't aware the sauce came on it. He said he wasn't either, and he took responsibility for that. Maybe these people should learn their menu, especially since this was one of their "specials." He offered to make a new one but seeing as how it took 45 min the first time, I told him to just use the same meat and new bread, so he did that for both of our sandwiches. My bread came out warm and toasted, but my husbands was cool, as if it came straight out of a bag of sourdough rolls and slapped on the plate. They were edible at best. Not great, not terrible. The meat itself had zero flavor, but it was manageable using the aus jus. The fries were cold (which is a shame because the flavor was decent) and the fingerling potatoes were cold. Service was crap--Glasses sat on the table forever before anymore refills were offered, even as our server (and others) passed by our table multiple times. It was a dismal experience all around. I had said to my husband, "If they have any customer service whatsoever, they will discount the bill." Nope! Their idea of compensating for crappy food and crappy service was to take the $8 fingerling potatoes off the bill. Gee, that's so generous! We brought half the food home to our dogs. Apparently their standards are lower, as they ate it without complaint. This place is NOT gonna make it, especially once Texas Roadhouse opens here in town. This was our first time here. Our waitess Kaylene was the sweetest and very helpful answering our questions about the food. Everything was amazing. Came to eat to this steak house for a nice dinner. We were at our table for about 15 mins without being greated by our server. He came after and took our drink order which it took about 15 mins to receive our drinks as well. They had a 30 people party there so they were busy, i understand since I am a server myself but I had to catch my servers attention all the time when we needed another drink. He was running around and stuff so like i said I understand that they were busy but the experience could of been better. We order one new york cooked medium and one ribeye cooked well done, when our steaks came out they were cooked the other way around so i had to switch my steak with my family member who ordered well done as mine was cooked well done. I did not want to complain because its not a big deal but something to pay more attention to. We were celebrating an anniversary which I put in the notes of our reservation and it was not acknowledged. We loved the food and drinks but service could have been better. read more

We had to ask for water since the server walked by even though our glasses were empty. This place is TOO PRICY FOR THE QUALITY. Went there for my parents 25th anniversary the food was garbage. The steaks were great from what I heard from the family members, everything else was Not impressive at all. The price for 5 adults and 1 child was over 500$!? 2 adults which were my mother and myself had a plain hamburger n fries which were only 13$ and my child had an appetizer which was like 15$ for her dish which only came with 4 meatballs that were mediocre size..nothing great about them either. They charge ice tea 5$ which I think is unbelievable. For such an a hoity-toity place that they display themselves to be, they sure had dirty ass menus and stains on the paper on the menus, and I mean on multiple of them at the table. Looked bad and not classy at all. Idk what the owner is thinking or even over seeing what's going on w this place but it's not gunna last very long unless someone takes a handle on this. But then Again they are banking off of young people that don't know good quality of food and just ordering alcohol to make their profit. To be very blunt w/you, it's shitty. And it's probably a good place to drink but don't expect a great meal from this place. I was already warned before I went there and now I know what people were talking about. Went in for brunch. I bought 4 tickets to bring in some gal pals so we could try this new place. Hostess was very unpleasant because we wanted a booth not the 1/2 table 1/2 booth she offered. Our server was very friendly but definitely not high in service more like Applebees service. 2 of us got omelettes they were full of oil/ butter very flat, potatoes looked bought, toast with no jam. I had eggs Benedict eggs over done fillet was tiny no garnish very bad presentation. No salt & pepper shakers weird. The "carafes" of juice @ $7 each is NOT a carafe it's a little like vase thing that is filled 1/2 way if you're lucky & at $7 a juice it's a rip off! We came in on a special brunch thinking they were trying to win us over since they've had such mixed reviews & talk around town is not good! Went for the first time the other night. This is a high end steakhouse. Had a perfectly cooked filet! Our party all had delicious meals and everyone loved it. It's the best steakhouse in the area and shouldn't be compared to the chains. They have a cool bar in the back as well. A great place for a special occasion, client dinners, or date night. read more

First time at Cuts Steakhouse. First impressions are everything and the service was outstanding. Toasted bread with balsamic butter was a great starter. I cook lots of meat on my own so the ultimate test was going to be their Ribeye wood fire cooked. Excellent flavor and you could have cut it with a butter knife. My Wife had the Prime Rib sandwich which she said was great. Brussell sprouts were really good. Met one of the owners who was visiting most of the tables. Great attitude and drive. Turlock needed a serious restaurant that knows how to cook good steaks. I recommend Cuts Steakhouse to anyone who loves good beef, good service and great ambiance. read more

I was really looking forward to my meal at Cuts Steakhouse. Our waiter, Will did an excellent job. Some of the best service I have received in a long time. The appetizers were good. I ordered a NY Strip medium well. Unfortunately, the steak come out medium rare, medium in parts. So I sent it back. It come back unchanged. Still not medium well. I was debating on making this review because I really love to support local (which is why I wrote a thorough novel explaining), but we expected more from this place to be honest, and were sadly disappointed. Skip to bottom for my generalized opinion lol. The service and everyone who worked there is wonderful I'll start by saying that, so five stars to them at least :) We had high expectations, excited to have a nice steakhouse in Turlock, that's for sure! When it comes down to it, the portions are quite small and everything is over priced. My parents ordered the sea bass which was a special and (our fault) we didn't bother to ask for the price. But it ended up being $45 for a very small piece of sea bass with two small sides. Which truthfully was not worth it. We ordered our steaks medium rare and they were more medium well. Which is okay, we had it anyway but it was tough and we could honestly Traeger a better one at home. Another thing to note, is they are called "cuts" but only offer three options for steak: filet mignon (8oz), ribeye (14oz), and New York strip (12oz). They do offer a variety of ways to cook your steak though which is great, we thought that was nice. But they also offer butter for the top of your steak. At $8, for a tab of butter when I buy a whole block of Kerrygold for $4, I just don't think that's entirely reasonable, bone marrow or "truffle" in it regardless. My boyfriend's au gratin had undercooked potatoes which was unfortunate because they did have good flavor. Mashed potatoes on the other hand were quite bland and they set the steak on top of the mashed potatoes which was points down on presentation for me just because I don't want steak juice mashed potatoes and my steak covered in mashed potatoes. Broccolini though was great! We all had drinks which were very good drinks, but 90% ice. At $12 though, can't complain because they were well made otherwise. At the end my dad wanted to order a mixed berry crisp. Glad it was just for him even though we had a taste. Extremely small, basically just a berry compote with some oats sprinkled on top and a small drop of whipped cream. and was in the same vessel as the Mac n cheese which is confusing. I think there was a shortage of dishes because everyone working was always staring at the table waiting to get our plates and glasses and tried to take them about every two minutes which is totally okay (just doing their jobs) it was just a bit much when there was still obvious food on our plates and liquid in our drinks lol. Overall, this place is new and it looked like they were doing their best but tweaks in the kitchen would certainly help. For $350 for four people though, not worth it at all. It's a Texas Roadhouse in Gucci glasses. Might come back for lunch sometime, but as of right now, there's a lot of other local places where you get more bang for your buck. read more

The staff here is very nice and attentive. Our waitress was awesome and very sweet, but that's the only notable thing about this place. I was excited to try a steakhouse ever since I moved to Turlock but for the quality of food we received and the insane price it costs I don't think I'll be returning. The Brussels sprouts and rosemary fries were awesome. I got the filet mignon medium rare and it came out with tough edges and barely a pink inside. I'm not picky so I just dealt with it and enjoyed what I could. The environment is cozy but we got seated in an awkward booth that was connected to another booth and table. It was fine until another party got seated there and we were just facing each other. Feels like this place is trying to be upscale when they aren't producing many upscale food items. read more

I regret that we didn't take any pictures of our meals, but we were really soaking up the atmosphere of this great new place. At long last, this corner of downtown is back in action and wow! What a great job! I ordered the ribeye steak with potatoes au gratin and the brussels sprouts. My wife had the salmon with mashed carrots and brussel sprouts, and we had the Cuts Trio appetizer with roasted garlic, andddd some great cocktails! This is the high end dining we have been waiting for...like having a Dewz in Turlock! We tried Cuts last night for dinner and the food, drinks and service were all excellent. I had the fish special - herb crusted halibut with potatoes au gratin and Brussels sprouts. Hubby had the filet. We also had the crostini with Brie and roasted garlic appetizer. Our dinners were super delicious, but I wouldn't get the appetizer again. I have one complaint/suggestion regarding the ambiance. The booths are great, but if you don't get a booth you are sitting less than a foot away from the next table. We were very thankful we were able to get switched to a booth because before that we felt like we were sitting cafeteria style and were WAY too close to the tables on either side of us. read more

Took my daughter here for her birthday -her choice. She is vegetarian and loves their eggplant sandwich. I was glad because I wanted a steak. This was the best experience I have had in a restaurant in such a long time. Every person working there I saw was so nice, friendly and all smiles! The food and drinks were excellent! My steak was so tender! And her sandwich did not disappoint. Our server Kendall (? sorry) was so attentive and sweet as were the others that came to our table. The place has a high-class vibe but is still very comfortable. Would highly recommend Cuts Steakhouse to everyone, even vegetarians. Beautiful restaurant with romantic vibe. Was there for a business lunch on a Friday. Service was slow even though our waiter was attentive. Lunch menus has no option but red meat and fish. Beet salad was very small and not a meal. The steak and blue sandwich was bland and dry. Needed more blue cheese or steak sauce. Positive is the rosemary fries are delicious. Order drinks from the bar after order our food and they arrived after we finished eating . We will try it again as we are fans of downtown Turlock and JP. I really wanted to like this place. We went there for our anniversary with the family. We were lucky to get a booth and not a table in the middle of the restaurant. We ordered drinks and appetizers. The drinks did not arrive until after we started eating our appetizers. Their wedge salad. It was not a wedge. It was a few pieces of butter leaf lettuce with toppings. I would say list it as a wedge-like salad, not a wedge. Not even close to a wedge. We ordered four steak entrees. The steaks we pretty good, however, they messed up and put butter on the incorrect steak. We were were finally able to flag someone down, they took back the the steak and added the butter. They then had the nerve to state that they would not charge for the butter on the incorrect steak. WHAT! It was even the incorrect butter. The atmosphere is unique to Turlock. I think it is very pricy for not great service. I would like to give it a second chance, but bill was around $200 for four people. I cannot waste money on second chances. read more

I wanted to give a review for other people wanting to know how this place is. We went there and I thought the food was OK but they're very expensive. I think if they were slightly less expensive it wouldn't of been so bad. But for two people with 5 drinks total, two meals and an appetizer it was over $150. I ordered chicken which was part of a tiny hen instead of a normal size chicken and was dark meat it tasted like dark meat. I wouldnt order again. If they had more options on their menu and the prices were a little cheaper maybe I would return. Their sides were really good. read more

I'm not one to leave bad reviews ever but the experience I had at this restaurant left me no choice. The service was far from steakhouse level. This place wants to charge Morton's prices without the service. We were quick to place our order once seated but never saw our food. People around us came and went and we still sat there waiting for some sort of acknowledgement. When we asked about our food, we were told a few times that there was a bigger party prior to us but that our food would be plated soon. After an hour of sitting there while other people that got there after us got their food, ate, and left we decided to leave. We asked for the check and they seemed bothered because "our food was being plated". The manager had very little care for our experience. His lame excuse was that it was a busy night. With that said you would think they would have came to our table offered some bread or beverages on the house for our wait. Instead they tried to talk us into taking our food to go and charged us for what we drank. The manager didn't even honor the drinks. This is far from what a steakhouse should be. read more

The idea of Cuts Steakhouse is great, the decor the lighting it all feels like this is going to be such an amazing steak house. But....after making reservations in advanced for a birthday on a Wednesday night might I add, we get placed in the most ridiculously, poorly designed, just simply plain out weird booth I've ever seen. This seating argument is a "U" shaped booth that uncomfortably makes you cramped up next to the other table, the waitress even stated how ridiculous this seating argument was for an "upscale" restaurant. Anyways let's dive into the food! I would say at best 4/10, this "steakhouse" has 3 steak options and unfortunately their hood was broken for their wood fire steak preparation option. Like many other reviews the sides are extremely oily, you would assume ordering brussels sprouts would be a fresh option to pair with your steak, but no! They are weirdly deep fried with so much excessive oil you will not be able to finish them. As well with their potato's au gratin, roasted fingerling potatoes, and even there broccolini. Oh yes and you can even add a like more oil if you're really craving some, by ordering a tablespoon of their butter compounds to your stake for a cool $8. But, by all means if you love oil with a side of steak and veggies this place is for you! Their dessert was again another disappointed, we ordered the brownie la mode which is simply two brownies stacked on top of each other with a scope of vanilla ice cream on top and some caramel drizzle... the brownies were undercooked and tasted like something out of a box and the ice cream was mediocre. Overall spending $260 for a party of three I would not recommend this place, in fact if you're looking for a quality upscale restaurant, I would recommend Redwood Cafe or Dewz in Modesto. Super unfortunate because like I said the idea of this place is great but it's needing some major improvements! read more
