My first impression of Cutten Kitchen was a good one. I was greeted by the host with a smile and was quickly seated. It took them a minute to round up my waitress, but she was friendly as well. She was very informative and very hospitable. The restaurant was clean and all of the staff were friendly (I was checked on multiple times...Love that!). The bartender personally brought over my happy hour margarita which I normally do not do frozen but it was strong and flavorful. I ordered coffee and it was ice cold so...I politely asked them to take it off my tab and sent it back. They obliged with no issues. The complimentary cornbread was warm, buttery and was definitely made from scratch. It was a nice touch. The deviled eggs were different. Sriracha based mostly within the mix and in the sweet dipping sauce. I love the texture of the mixture, but would have loved some scallions or chives to he placed on top of the eggs for color and pop. That said, I loved them. I ordered the plain version but they offer chicken and shrimp as toppers with an up charge. The chicken & waffles are excellent here! By far the best I have had in Houston. Chicken was seasoned to the God's! Smokin' Hot in temp when it arrived to my table. The Waffle was sweet and fluffy and shaped like our good old state of Texas (nice touch). The stone grits were cooked as if it were my Granny back in the kitchen whipping them up. The grits were hot, buttery and didn't need any accompaniments...no clumps or lumps, but went smoothly down my throat. I highly recommend!! Love the fact that brunch is all day! read more

My friend and I fund Cutten through social media. We saw different food vloggers who reviewed this place and of course had great things to say....for this review, i'll just stick to the food. :( There was so much other things going on that were not a great first impression but, i'll spare you the details... Initially, our waiter brought us 2 miniature pieces of complementary cornbread. Since out food took so long to come out, she gave us more cornbread and the portion was as pictured (this was the portion that was advertised on socials as well). We got the seafood eggrolls for an app. The filling of the eggrolls were delicious but it was just so tough biting through the eggroll shell. For my entree I ordered the seafood platter that comes with one catfish fillet, four shrimp, and tenders. Chicken with a seafood platter is very odd, but I decided to try anyway. I originally ordered corn for one of my sides, but sent it back because it was super Duper salty. The catfish was super fishy to where I could not even eat it. I asked for an espresso martini but they didn't have espresso so he went above and beyond to make me something similar with coffee. The smash was even more delicious. Visiting Cuttin Kitchen after church. This is our 2nd visit. We had a situation with the prices in the beginning. Their table menu stated "Mimosas & Bloody Mary's $3" However, the waitress stated they were $5 now. She said the table topper was old. Well,my point was remove it from the table or cross out $3 and put $5. I asked for the manager. JD came over to exclaim the same thing. " the table topper is old, but those 2 specials were now $5." I stated that by having the sign up is "false advertisement. I then advised him that I would post online that they aren't honoring what's posted in his restaurant. He stated, " that's fine, but it's now $5." I ordered the drink anyway. JD brought the drink over. Later, he brought a $10 off card on our NEXT visit to make up for the disagreement. Well, this is admirable,but was it necessary to go through all of that or just give $2 off the drink? If this was my business, I would have given $2 off and took that small hit. Now I'm feeling some kind of way. We brought our daughter there because we enjoyed the 1st visit. She didn't agree with the manager JD eithrr and couldn't belive he didn't just give what's being advertised. This ordeal could have been avoided. The waitress seemed perturbed in the very beginning, especially when I asked for the manager. She was the same waitress we had on our first visit. We received the check and low and behold, the drink price they put on our ticket was $3. Why didn't the Manger, just accept liability and make our lunch pleasurable. We drove all the was from our church in Humble to go there. My Intention was to NOT leave a tip due to the service received, They provided a $10 card for the next visit, so I would catch them on the tip for the next visit. Hower, but thankfully they made good on their stated prices and I left a 20% tip. I'm unsure I would return or recommend anyone to visit this establishment. Originally, I told several people, but now they've showed me how ungrateful and unconcerned they are for making their customer happy. This falls in line with a lot of businesses today. So sad. I'm a black business owner and my clients are way to valuable to lose 1. It's your choice. PS: the food was much better the 1st time. The cornbread was not hot. The food wasn't seasoned like before. So me and my mom ended up going here just to get something to eat and waste some time while we were cleaning the house and walking in the place looks really nice really good. So as for the food, it was a four out of 10 it took about a good 30 minutes for our food to come out and not all of our order was even taken down right and once everyone's food got there at the table nobody had silverware that took an extra 10 minutes for someone to bring us something to eat because we were all just sitting there, looking at each other with hot food and nothing to eat it with the server she was OK. I feel like she was kind of somewhat new but I later learned that this is more of a brunch and drinks type of place not normal comfort food or regular food that they have on the menu so if you go there only give lunch only get the drinks. read more

I attended a couple's wedding shower on Saturday for some close friends of mine. The service was amazing and the manager Andre was attentive and professional. However I personally would never book an event or large gathering at this restaurant because of the owner Maria. Bride and grooms experience with Maria was both unprofessional and disheartening to say the least. They had booked this event in November of 2025 and agreed with Maria to pay for 80 people upfront, and settle the remaining balance after the event. The DAY BEFORE THE EVENT, Maria called and demanded that they pay for 100 people upfront instead of the agreed upon 80! And to make matters worse, when the bride tried to settle this with Maria, Maria hung up in her face several times and threatened to cancel the event!! This caused the bride and groom unnecessary stress and made them feel uneasy about continuing the event here. The only positive was the Manager Andrea and the amazing staff. It's also worth mentioning that MARIA IS FALSELY ADVERTISING THE ESTABLISHMENT AS BLACKED OWNED WHEN IT IS NO LONGER AT BLACK OWNED BUSINESS! read more

We went on Juneteenth to support our businesses, and I can't lie--it will probably be a while before I return. We were told Thursday was Steak night, but they were referring to country-fried steak. That's not steak, but okay, cool, no problem. We arrived at 7 but were also told it was all-day happy hour, so I had a drink, and my stepfather had two beers off the happy hour menu. My wife and I both ordered the country steak with gravy on the side. So our food came halfway prepared. There was no gravy, and my wife's mac and cheese wasn't mac and cheese! The waitress immediately returned the mac and cheese and was told she would bring out the gravy for us. Well, they returned the mac and cheese, but NO GRAVY. Who serves country fried steak on "Steak night" with no gravy? This makes no sense!!! By the time watery gravy arrived, we were halfway done eating our meal. After receiving the bill and a brief conversation with the waiters, I realized that happy hour ends at 6, not all day. She took care of that portion for us. This was my first time at Cutten and I really like the vibe. Great music of all types and tvs to watch sports. The food was good with different options. I had the meatloaf which was tender and juicy. I also had the deviled eggs which was a nice twist with the fried chicken bites. The service was off as our waiter appeared to be extremely busy. I think if they had more staff that would help. After having dined here several times I must change my mind about Cutten Kitchen. My first review discussed a glowing review for my meatloaf meal followed by a good review of the chicken salad sandwich and a poor review of the grilled salmon meal. I still rated the restaurant a 4 mainly about the first meal. Since my last review, I've tried the hamburger (3.5) and fries (2) which I didn't care for the seasoning used on them. Most recently, I tried my belived meatloaf meal again and left really disappointed. The previous meatloaf had a firmer slightly crispy exterior and a smokey flavor making it unusual and delicious. This time it had your typical soft exterior with still a hint of smoke but it's now back to your average tasting meatloaf (3). The side salad has been downsized significantly in size and quality. Now it's just some lettuce and sliced cherry tomatoes (3). I don't know what happened but it's not the same robust salad I had a couple of months ago. Finally the biggest disappointment was the mashed potatoes and cream gravy. The old gravy was full of rich flavor and consistency. Now it's very thin gravy with little flavor. More of an afterthought. It's like drinking whole milk your entire life and then trying a glass of skim. Finally over my last two meals here the portion of complimentary cornbread has been reduced in size. Unfortunately I did not take any pics of this meal. My experiences have noted a decline since my first visit. I am sorry to report this because I really liked this restaurant initially but don't like it trending downward as it has. The place was very casual and welcoming. TVs to watch a game and a live band was setting up while we were just about to leave. It is counter service style and you get your own utensils and drinks. They bring your order to the table by the number system. If you are looking for a laid back bar/ grill this is your kinda place. The cornbread that they brought out complimentary was perfection. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip for the table, again it was perfect. We both ordered chicken fried chicken. This is where it got alittle eh. The batter for the chicken really needed seasoning along with the gravy. The mashed potatoes were homemade and good. The buttered corn was burnt tasting. A few things that we found could be corrected easily but then again this is just my opinion. If I was in the area again, maybe give them another try. We went back for round 3! . I had the cheeseburger this time because I love a good seasoned burger with meat you can actually see! The flavor was very good and it had a 1/2 lb Patty!!! I couldn't finish it all. I had the onion strings with it and they were so good. Super crispy and good seasoning. I did get the southwestern egg rolls - they're my favorite! My husband had the Patty melt and fries. He really liked it and couldn't believe how thick the patty was. Good amount of onions on it. Had a bit of a sweet flavor. It's the sauce they put on it. I was so disappointed in the food. The Hamburger helper was piled with so much cheese you couldn't enjoy the meal. I called to speak with a manager to let them know how the meal was distasteful. I was asked why did I need to speak to manager along with a series of questions only to be told the manager was gone and the individual I was speaking with was the manager. I then explained my issue with the food and explained I had an issue earlier with ordering which the manager on duty "Andre" did resolve. I was put on hold only to be asked for my phone number and told he would call me tomorrow. I then get a call back from the real manager on duty and went through explaining AGAIN why I was displeased with my food. This person told me in order for them to refund me I would need to bring the uneaten food. I explained I was at work and was no where near the restaurant. I took a picture of my food which I didn't get to eat for lunch due to prior issues of ordering on an app in which they said they didn't deal with so it took about 45 mins to correct that issue. It's not about the refund they could've offered to make something else. I do not want to eat something that was completely overpowered with cheese that you couldn't enjoy.
