I used to really like this CVS. I've used it for 3 or 4 years. But I want a drug store for its pharmacy -- not as a liquor store. And over the last two years, the pharmacy hours have gotten shorter as the beer, wine, and general merchandise section has gotten larger and shabbier. I am now looking for a new pharmacy. read more

This pharmacy should get an award for the rudest and most uniformed employees. I RARELY ever have a good experience when I go to this pharmacy. No one apologizes for there lack of customer service. My husband just simply asked for a flu shot because our insurance covers it at the pharmacy. The tech couldn't be bothered with it and sent my husband over to the Minute Clinic where he waited for 30 minutes and was told the clinic didn't take our insurance. Needless to say he walked out ticked off and had choice words about CVS. This is just one of at least 5 examples I can give off the top of my head how crappy this place treats customers. EVE in the MINUTE CLINIC is a complete imbecile. Told her I had a sinus infection and needed antibiotics - she told me no, I had a cold, and prescribed me a measly nose spray and a neti pot - yes, seriously - and told me to go to my "real doctor" if a sinus infection developed. 1 day later and $50 dollars less and I WAS RIGHT. If I could have got what I asked for and this woman would have obtained a legitimate degree, I wouldn't be sick right now. Go somewhere else to be seen, somewhere that hasn't hired an OCD-ridden idiot. read more

Giving these guys 5 stars bc, although its always a slight irritation to pick up anything from the pharmacy due to a small wait, I feel like they have one of the most stressful jobs when it comes to dealing with customers and having to follow all the laws of handling and selling pharmaceuticals simultaneously. It takes a special kind of person to put up with all the dumb questions we customers throw at them from lack of knowledge AND keep a calm collected demeanor while answering them. I really WANT to love it, but after six years as a customer, I can honestly say: this pharmacy is pathetic. This pharmacy singlehandedly proves that not all CVS stores within the chain are created equal. The staff in the actual STORE deserve credit their overall helpfulness, but when it comes to the helpfulness or competency of the pharmacy staff itself? No way. Our sickly family of six are frequent customers - the kind of people who easily fill 75+ prescriptions a month (because we are assigned this pharmacy). You might think the pharmacy staff would recognize us, or be remotely friendly - but you'd be wrong. Wait times are always long - and inevitably, for absurd things, like FINDING YOUR ALPHABETIZED PRESCRIPTION. (And since the wait times are so long, I've gotten a chance to observe: this is not a phenomenon limited to our family or our surnames: it seems to be a problem FOR EVERYONE!). It's honestly comical. It's turned into a running gag in our family: "how long will it take the staff to locate our filled Rx?" Without fail, they will search every possible spot, from A-Z, from acute fills to long-term overflow, and back again. Sometimes 3-4 times! (And then THERE IT IS, RIGHT WHERE IT SHOULD BE! Do they not understand the alphabet??) I'm not sure where the problem is - management?? - but it must be horribly frustrating to work there. As a customer, it's just a huge pain to know that it's time to pick up prescriptions because you always know that it will take forever (or that they might have substituted a different Rx without asking - and it might have been something important). To be fair, I never feel like working at a pharmacy is a great job - so many customers getting so many bad surprises about how expensive their medications are, right? - but somehow, the employees here seem unhappier than most. And it shows. Don't count on them to point out any manufacturer deals or commiserate with you or ever even smile when you walk in - and WHATEVER YOU DO, set aside at least 45 minutes to pick up that prescription that your text message swore was "ready." Do yourself a favor and find a better CVS location - or use Walgreen's or a local pharmacy if you are allowed by insurance and can handle the drive. read more

I went to the "minute clinic" and was seen by Aleita White a NP. I noticed she took 30 minutes with each patient. I thought that was pretty long being a minute clinic. Then I was seen and I could see why! First off I'm an RN and have worked in the ER-I get the wait I really do. But her assessment was long and unnecessary for a minute clinic! She asked me about my menstrual cycle and pregnancy chances-I went in there for bronchitis symptoms. Why is she getting my obgyn history? Her assessment took just as long as my annual physical! She should work at a PCP clinic and not a minute clinic. She was slow and ineffective! As an ICU RN I knew I needed a z pack for my symptoms but she refused to give it to me. I told her I was traveling to Mexico in 4 days and didn't have time to "wait it out". She told me to come in 2 days if they didn't get better. Um in 2 days my symptoms would have been worst and the antibiotics wouldn't have worked in time for my international trip. I basically waited 2 hours for a long unnecessary assessment I felt took as long as my annual physical. If you're coming here for the minute clinic go else where. There is nothing fast and smart about Aleita White's assessment. Coming from an ICU and ER RN I know she doesn't do her work right. I had to go to a doctor who had a brain that prescribed me a z pack. read more

Most of the time i go in their its just in and out farely quickly . always really busy but i get acknowledged almost immediately . All these bad reviews must be talking about a diffrent pharmacy they have my precriptions ready in less then 15 minutes . Whenever i take them to walmart cheaper i may add, always over 1 hour wait for my antibiotic . When all i want to do is go rest. I will continue to do business here at the cvs on el salido. Good job pharmacist . Its nice to know you care. read more

I have had two experiences with the clinic. In the first instance I went in and was found to have the flu as I suspected. I was placed on Tamiflu. The nurse practitioner asked me if anybody else in the family has been sick yet. I told her no. She related that if anybody else would get sick, we would be able to call and she would prescribe Tamiflu without bringing them to the clinic as long as they were a patient. A couple of days later my wife brought my son in to get his flu vaccine. He had not been vaccinated. Two or three days later he came down with flu symptoms. I called and requested Tamiflu. I was told we would have to bring him in and have him examined. This was not what they had told me on my initial visit. I had to bring him in and pay for another flu test and another visit to get Tamiflu prescribed. At this time I expressed dissatisfaction. A month goes by and my son comes home from school with classic flu symptoms. By the time I could get home from work it was late in the evening. I thought I would give the clinic one more chance. He was tested for the flu. The test was negative. However, it is well documented that false negatives are not uncommon with the Rapid influenza Diagnostic Tests(RiDT). Quoting the CDC "due to the limited sensitivities, negative results of RIDTs do not exclude influenza virus infection in patients with signs and symptoms suggestive of influenza. Therefore, if clinically indicated, antiviral treatment should not be withheld from patients with suspected influenza, even if they test negative by RIDT" The Nurse Practitioner actually stated she was pretty sure he had the flu, but would not prescribe the Tamiflu. He has been sick with the flu the entire spring break. Needless to say, they will not get a third try. read more

The Minute Clinic at this location is hit or miss. Over the years I have noticed that the doctors seem to always change and never stay at this location. If you have an urgent medical matter and need to check in towards the end of a doctors shift, they can become very defensive, unfriendly, and to an extent even borderline unprofessional if you take a lot of time. The doctors here are not the caring nurturing type, they are just following rules in an overly rigid manner that spells terrible customer service. I get that this a Minute Clinic and should not expect anything overly exemplary but I do expect to be treated with respect as a client not a problem that came in at the last minute under circumstances that were out of my control. The expectation of providing service, even at the end of a shift, should be communicated to these doctors at this location before they accept taking a job here. Yes, you might need to stay past your usual shift time if the customer needs it. Do not refer people to an overcrowded urgent care place down the road that is much more expensive all because you want to go home for the day. Help the customer or get a job elsewhere if you do not like it. read more

The pharmacy itself is getting one star because it was late one night I had to take my 4 month old to an urgent care. The doctor faxed my daughters antibiotic to this location as it is near our house. The doctor was under the impression it was open until 10 pm. When I called to update my daughters insurance I was informes they closed at 9. I asked the technician if she knew of a pharmacy opened later and she said no but gave me to the pharmacist Becky. Becky was rude and very unhelpful. After asking a few times and telling her I'm new to Austin she finally told me there is a 24 hr Walgreens in Cedar Park. I asked her if she wouldn't mind transferring the prescription to that location. She said she would call and get their fax number and fax it. I asked her if she would verbally transfer it to the new pharmacist. She lied to me and told me most pharmacists won't verbally transfer new prescription that they would want a hardcopy. I told her that's funny, I am and have been a certified pharmacy technician for over 2 years. It's an antibiotic! She said she would fax it. I asked her what happens if the fax doesn't go through and they close? She said "Then you're out of luck." It took everything I had not to call her a few choice names. She called me back and said Walgreens said the were slammed and the pharmacist couldn't answer the phone. Thankfully the fax went through. I told the story to the pharmacist at Walgreen's when calling my daughters insurance in to expedite the prescription and he said sounds to me like she was just not wanting to do the transfer. I offered to let him have a tech take over the call because they are so busy and he said it was okay they are really slow...The pharmacist at CVS took advantage of me and the fact I was new to town not knowing I work in the pharmacy and I know protocol. read more

I have been filling my prescriptions here for a few years. It is only a few blocks from my house. Used the automatic system to refill one of my prescriptions, got a confirmation that it would be ready the next day. I went to CVS a few days later to pick up my prescription and somehow they lost all my information in their computer system and said they had no record of me ever filling a prescription at their store. Having all my prescriptions now filled at HEB, not as convenient but should save me a little money. read more

I visit this pharmacy often. The store itself is not too bad. It seems to be well kept. The isles are easy to get through. No clutter. Everything is nice and neat on the shelves. But I do have issues with the pharmacy. There seems to always be a wait and that wouldn't bother me too much if it wasn't for the fact that it's not that busy. One should be able to get in and get out quickly without a problem. I tend to go at the times where I find it the least busy but that doesn't seem to matter. I still have to wait longer than I want to. I tried going through the drive-thru thinking it would be faster, but it's the same problem. It doesn't even matter if I call the prescription in. The staff is friendly and this is the only CVS near where I live. Given it is the designated pharmacy of my insurance company, I really don't have much of choice. But other than the wait when using the pharmacy, the store itself is fine. read more

The pharmacy is terrible! Either they don't care or they don't know how to work the phone but the pharmacist will not call you with important information about your medication. They'll just let you find out when it's time to pick up. read more
