We made an appointment on Tuesday for booster shot. Showed up 15 minutes earlyand the pharmacy was closed. We talked to the store salesman and was told the the pharmacist was late. We waited for 45 minutes and the pharmacist finally showed up. We waited for another 45 minutes before being called. Today I had to buy a few kitchen items for the place I work at. Walgreen's is super convenient for me to get to, just takes me a minute to get there. CVS is a little further, but I went there today because I want to support them after they made the brave move to eliminate cigarettes from their stores. This was very admirable, knowing that cigarettes accounted for over $2 billion in their annual revenue. It does seem weird that ANY pharmacy, which is supposed to be helping you improve your health, would sell cigarettes! I hope more drugstores will continue to follow suit. I smoked on and off for several years in my 20's and had tried many times to quit but it was hard. Nicotine is SO addictive! I finally did quit over 10 years ago, but I know it's hard for a lot of people. Nicotine addiction can take hold of people like the jaws of death. So anything drugstores can do to keep more kids from taking up this nasty habit is very cool in my book. Just a note here.... this CVS does need to get a little more organized in their "discount" section. They had a whole bunch of stuff labeled 90% off, but as it turns out it was just for certain shelves, and according to the clerk, the signs were placed in the wrong location. I found this to be super annoying and wish the manager of this place would pay more attention to how it looks to the customers. NOT clear. But overall I still love CVS for the cigarette ban and will continue to try to shop here, instead of Walgreens, until Walgreen's wises up and bans cigarettes too. Thanks CVS for paving the way. Incompetent pharmacy employees! Dropped prescription for two eye drops, was told they should be ready in 20 mins, and that they will text me on my phone once they are ready (which is a service they advertise heavily). 40 minutes later still no text messages so i go back, pick up my prescription which has been waiting for me. I was by then in a rush for my next appmt. When i got home later that day I found out they only filled one of two prescriptions!! Well that sucks, given i live 30 mins away from the pharmacy, bit i need the drops so i head back first thing next day. The pharmacy guy checks his computer then declares they had to order it and it will not be ready until later that day, and that someone should have told me that (no body did). No apologies, no taking ownership of the issue (he was the one who took the prescription but pretended it was all someone else's fault). I just canceled that prescription order since there was no way i'm going to rely on them for anything. Besides i was already half a day late on the drops thanks to them. read more

A lot of people here seem to think this CVS sucks. It must mean they never go to any other CVS in the Bay Area. The only other CVS I have been to with better selection is in Carson City. I went on a Saturday to try to get sale items. This is a death wish, normally. CVS is notorious for a lot of bad things, selling expired stuff, selling damaged stuff, misleading ads, but especially running out of what is on sale. (The weekly ad runs Sunday through Saturday.) Think about the retired grandpa standing outside the store Sunday before it opens, so he can buy one of the two enemas available at the sale price. This is what you compete with when you play the Extra Bucks game at CVS. Not at this location. This week you can buy boxes of Triscuit for $2, and if you buy 8, you can get $5 in Extra Bucks. Considering the regular price is $3.89, that's a pretty good deal, $11 (in essence) for eight boxes. On a Saturday, you could never find eight boxes in one store, right? Well, here I did. They also had the oral spray pain reliever that was $18.99 but came with $18.99 in Extra Bucks so it is technically free (other than sales tax). They had several of them, in fact, and it was clearly marked and easy to find. The free-after-Extra-Bucks stuff is always tough to find at most CVSs. Seems to be a lot of complaints about the service. It is a CVS, after all. Sometimes you have to do the handholding. That's why the prices are so cheap if you buy the sale items. Figure out whether it's worth it to you before coming in to the store. If I lived closer, I would come to this location all the time. They. Don't. Run. Out. Of. Stuff. If you're someone who reads the ad and plays the Extra Bucks game, this location needs to be in your rotation. read more

Terrible, terrible, terrible!!!! I've been using this CVS (formerly Long's) monthly for almost 3 years. Recently, I went in to pick up an "auto-fill" Rx (which are somehow never ready) and I'm informed the system is down so they can't fill my Rx (that should already be ready thanks to the handy dandy auto-fill) and they can't help me until the following day. Unacceptable. To make a long story short they clearly didn't care about my health and well being. They could have very easily phoned my prescribing physician to verify my Rx but evidently were not so inclined. I resolved the problem myself by having all of my rx's transferred to another pharmacy and had the one I needed filled within an hour. This is not the only issue I've had with this pharmacy, but it was the last one I was willing to tolerate. read more

Somehow I always manage to find a reason to go to this pharmacy when I'm on University ave. This pharmacy has changed names several times but still remains THE pharmacy on this street. Since I was headed over to the creamery for a milkshake I thought I would make my life easier by getting some lactaid and knowing that this place was right down the road made my life a little better. They have their own private parking lot in the back and their store opens in the front and back. They're a little cramped and the employees don't look too cheerful. They were never unhelpful or mean but man, put on a smile! They have most of what you're looking for and of course have a pharmacy in the back which I don't regularly use. It's a Pharmacy. You need medication? Order and pick up or wait 15 minutes. Do you need a snack? Maybe some quick household items? They will have most items. No tap to pay option only chip and swipe, register takes for ever; seems they need to push so many buttons for 1 transaction. No cigarettes. Get a CVS card it makes everything easier. Plus the Extra Bucks are dope for everything I enjoy getting my coupons on the CVS APP. The worse thing about this store? CUSTOMERS. I swear as a Patron that people are so difficult in this town. Does a it accept Apple Pay. There are often long lines and the selection is often less than the Walgreens just a couple of stores next to it. The endless printed receipt is annoying and almost always worthless. In addition to not taking Apple Pay their loyalty card isn't Passbook compatible, so it's annoying to dig out the card. I know I could give them my phone number. But I didn't register using my real number (for obvious reasons). Bottom line, go to the Walgreen's on the corner. read more

Probably the worst CVS customer service I've experienced and I'm visiting from NY. I overheard one woman ask about the restroom and the employee exasperatedly replied, "if the sign says the bathroom is out of order, it's probably out of order." I was there to purchase three 12-packs of diet coke for a party. When I asked if she could bag all three together the clerk says they don't have large bags for the diet coke and didn't want help me out, so I was SOL. I had to make two trips to get all of my purchases back home. The rows are disorganized and not fully stocked and some of the snacks I purchased seemed older and stale. If you have to purchase sundries, I would recommend the Walgreen's a few blocks over. read more

As a Longs, this place was fine--just a run-of-the-mill drugstore. This, however, is awful. Yesterday, I went in to buy something and use the restroom. The restroom was locked and no one answered when I knocked. I found an employee. The following dialogue ensued: Katie: Hi. Does the restroom have a key? Employee 1 (staring blankly): Yes. Katie: Do you know where it is? Employee 1: No. Katie (after a moment of silence): Do you know how I might get into the restroom? Employee 1: Sometimes it's at the front counter or the back counter. So I went to the back counter. Turns out Employee 1 is there as well, waiting for the guy to pay attention to her. She sees me and says nothing, even though she KNOWS I'm there for the bathroom key because I just asked her about it. She proceeds to talk for about two minutes to Employee 2. She does not mention me, nor acknowledge me, although she sees me. I wait for her to leave, then speak to Employee 2: Katie: Hi. Is the restroom key back here? Employee 2 (not looking around for it, nor making eye contact): No. Silence. So I walk toward the front counter. On my way, I encounter another employee: Katie: Hi. Do you know where I might find the restroom key? Employee 3 (flatly): No. Sorry. Could these people be LESS helpful or engaged? So then I went to the front counter, where Employee 4 DID have the restroom key, and gave it to me. Thank goodness. The restroom itself was disgusting. There were no toilet seat covers, no soap, and the floor was a mess. There was one of those "have you cleaned the bathroom lately" check-in sheets with a clipboard. I looked to see when the bathroom had last been cleaned. The whole thing was blank. I left without buying anything. My friend went in after me and had a similarly bad experience. This place has seriously gone downhill since changing from Longs to CVS. read more

This is definitely the worst pharmacy I've ever gone to in my life. 1. Line is always out of control 2. They tell me everyday they will have ordered my prescription and that will arrive the next day. Each day i come back and check, and they say the order hasn't arrived and they need to re order again. Are you kidding me?? 3. I asked the pharmacist if they can email me the exact name of my prescription while they have it on hold, and they literally told me that their systems cannot support e-mail. Pharmacy manager was so rude for no reason, I work in customer service too and she was acting poorly. I was just as if not more confused than the cashier I simply asked them to double check my prescription since I went in the previous day and they didn't have it either. I don't even care about my prescription not being available but she could have gave meee A CONFUSED CUSTOMER some options on how to resolve this. I'm surprised at this one. Palo Alto downtown is a pretty upscale happy place with stellar customer service up and down the block- including the Walgreens 2 streets down on University. This CVS is perfectly fine - the selection is pretty good and the staff is friendly enough. Sometimes there will be a bit of a line to check out, but its not normally too bad. My biggest complaint is parking - although this CVS is pretty close to my house, a trip here always takes forever because of the task of finding parking in downtown PA. My fiance has used the bathrooms here and said they're really gross, but what do you expect from a CVS bathroom? read more

Every time I've been here I've been greeted by friendly staff and as I look around I'm asked if I need any help. CVS does not have the cheapest regular priced items, however, they do offer good deals especially if you have a CVS card. I always get sent 20-30% off coupons that I'm able to stack onto any existing deals which ends up making their items cheaper than if I went somewhere else. If you shop smart here you can end up saving a lot. This location in particular is great as it is right in the heart of University Ave, and is one of the bigger CVS stores I've been to. read more

I am a regular customer at this location and I must say the staff has excellent customer service. I always feel bad for them when a customer gives them a really hard time and a bad attitude about something small. I understand they don't have control over everything but man, give them a break! They put me on hold for 10 minutes and then told me to call their 800 number. I am shocked they are not more concerned about privacy laws. Very bad service at the photo desk. The lady first denied to take passport photo for the baby, then she realized she shouldn't say that and decided to make it for our baby, but she was too slow taking the photos. The baby stands there still for 10 seconds and she couldn't take an appropriate photo. Then she said she couldn't do it. read more
