Pizza is pizza in my mind, and although I am more than biased based on my history with Cybelle's in San Francisco, I will say that this east bay addition will still live up to its forebears. Now I cannot say anything about their to-go slices, that's always an iffy choice, but I will say that their pies are good. Made to order, and with a fluffy dough that has a nice crisp tang to it. But I will take into consideration that with Covid-19 you aren't going it to get a to-go slice and you certainly aren't sitting down for a meal. That said the pies to go, they can withstand the 20-30 minute drive home and are still hot and tasty, if not a little cooled. That said, i do have multiple other options in my immediate neighborhood. Cybelle's has been a staple for years. Delicious large slices! BUT there has been cut back on product/quality and you can clearly taste the difference. Beginning with the red sauce that seems to be thinned out with water and unflavored. The cheese was completely unflavored as well. I added flavor by using the cheese and pepper packets. I've patronized Cybelle's on a regular basis for the last few months. Since the quarantine started, I've ordered by phone and just picked up my food at the counter. I've tried the pizza, bread sticks, lasagna, and garlic bread. It's all been pretty good. The lasagna in particular is hot and tasty. The service has also been good. Elizabeth, whom I believe is a manager, is especially professional and nice. She's always pleasant and does her job well. She also speaks beautiful Spanish. read more

Ordered a pizza pie and of course the place isn't exactly cheap but I did love this spot since high school which was over a decade ago, they used to use corn meal to bake instead of those metal sheet plates ( which they use now) and sadly the last few times they've made my pizza's base crust super paper thin to where majority of the toppings just falls on my plate and doesn't keep enough shape, couldn't enjoy it. I first had Cybelle's pizza about 30 years ago. Shit I'm old. Anyway, tonight I ate a Cybelle's pizza for the first time in about 20 years. I have to say it isn't as good as I remember. While not bad, Cybelle's pretty much defines "A-OK". You'll get a lot of toppings, the sauce has a decent amount of flavor, but the cheese is pretty blah and the crust is very ordinary. Great pizza, great customer service. * Special note at end of review. I ordered a pizza out of my "norm", which is pesto/spinach/feta/mushroom. Tonight, out of convenience and ordering online, I ordered the Timmy's Special which had pesto/chicken/tomato/potato wedges/green onion, I omitted the green onion. This was a great combination of texture and flavor. It was a little dry and it was not due to Cybelle's part (*Again, special note at end of review). I normally don't care for meat on pizza but the chicken was in nice, bite size morsels, not chunks of meat atop a pie which I liked a lot. I love potatoes so this was another plus. Potatoes aren't a traditional topping, so when I see it offered, I jump on it. I would definitely order this particular pie again, very good. * NOW, FOR MY SPECIAL NOTE. This pertains to Grub Hub which I ordered through, somehow. When ordering through GrubHub, you get this message at the end saying your order has been submitted and your order should be ready in about 50 minutes, keep your phone handy for any notifications. So my bf and I were kicking it at home killing time waiting for time to pass to pick up our pies. This is where great customer service kicked in. I get a call from Cybelle's asking when we'd be picking up our pies because they'd been sitting a while. WTF?! GrubHub obviously has some flaws and issues to address. We have been coming to this location for years, even after we moved to Hayward, Ca but I will not be returning and I will use my platform to encourage others to do the same. We ordered a pizza for pickup like we normally do, we drove an hour & half to pick up only to find the card machine down. We were told to go to an atm, in which I refused because I didn't want to spend anymore than was necessary. So my husband suggested canceling the order, we were then told that we were on a no-ordering list. Not because we were a no show, not because we couldn't pay or were rude, simply because their card machine was down. Very disappointed in their customer service over the past few years but I have still supported. So unacceptable & I'm more than happy to take our money elsewhere. ANYWAY...I decided to read some of the reviews here just before ordering again today--and I read this from a fellow Yelper: "For some reason, our pizza is late or messed up when the dude takes our phone order. If it's the girl, it is on spot, but the guy just fucks it up somehow. If you do call to order and he answers, just hang up." I ordered today and sure enough it was the "dude" that answered. There is currently one worker here making my pizza, and He just looked at me and said "oh did you remember to make that guys cheese pizza?" This review is for the Cybelle's on Fruitvale:: Last night I ordered a large meat pie pizza with feta on one side. When the pizza got here, first off the crust was soggy. And instead of feta they had sprinkled some what we think was old dried mozzarella on the top and then when I called to tell them they had not put feta on but some other cheese. This bimbo of a woman tried to tell me that was their version of feta. What??? It's either feta or its not!! Duh?? What kind of morons do you have answering the phone?? Then when I asked to speak to the manager, she told me to call back tomorrow. Of course when I did call back tomorrow, I was told by a guy that the manager only works during the week?? What? Last night he would be here today, today he'll be here tomorrow? Do any of these people know what they are talking about? I have been ordering pizza from Cybelle's for years and this was by far the absolute worst pizza I have had in my life. If this was my first time ordering I would never order from them again. No need for me to go all the way to Fat Slice in Berkeley to satisfy my hankering for a delicious single slice! I got the Chicken on the Green monster slice and holy...I was so amazed. The crispness of the crust made me really appreciate the freshness of the dough. They did not skimp on any of the toppings. There was plenty of piping hot cheese for multiple cheese pulls. The monster slice comes with two slices, made to order. Cybelle's offers basil, black pepper, Parmesan and red chili flakes to sprinkle on top of your pizza. My boyfriend got a classic pepperoni, and it did not disappoint. The gentlemen at the counter were really welcoming and nice too. Will definitely be back for more! read more

Very good pizza...the best pizza joint in the Dimond District (along with Romano's), without a doubt. Monster Slices are always a good choice, two HUGE specialty slices for about six bucks. Thank GOD the bus stop has been moved to the next block...that was one of the main reasons I almost never frequented Cybelle's. But now that the bus stop is gone...I'll be a repeat customer for sure. The owner is really cool too. Staff is nice as well. Nice little eating atmosphere with plenty of windows and a flatscreen on the wall. Wished they served beer though, lol. Not quite five stars...as good as the pizza is here...it's still not on Zachary's or Pizzaiolo's level...but that's not a putdown, that's a compliment...because those before-mentioned pizza places are world-class. But this Cybelle's is very good, I'd say nearly on the level of Amazona's and Blondie's...so you will not go wrong here. Without the ability to serve beer (because it is pizza's best friend)...I almost didn't give it four stars, more like three stars...but since I'm only reviewing the merits of the pizza itself, I'm giving it four stars. I ordered a mushroom and olive pizza, and requested a vegetarian salad. An hour later they delivered a pepperoni pizza with olives, and my veggie salad. When I called them back the manager did not offer any sort of an apology, but accused me of saying pepperoni. When asked, "then why did I specifically order a vegetarian salad and ask you to read my order back to me?", he could offer no response. He asked angrily, "So what? You want a refund or something?"
