Went in today to get a new visor for my Shoei helmet, as my transitions lens had stopped transitioning...lol. Spoke with Ben about how long they should last (purchased maybe a year and half ago), and he checked online to see if he could get me any info, but could not find anything regarding longevity. Instead of leaving it at that, he offered to give me a new shield at no charge. I was dumbfounded as these shields are $200 by themselves. Came in last night to return some items and found an issue where my purchased items weren't connected to my RPM account. Person at the front desk with a hat (cashier code is 12038) was super cool and patient in helping me figure out the situation. Best customer service I ever got and am super grateful for him. He was also the first person to ask me about being a first responder/medical personnel for an extra discount on top. My husband and I went into Cycle Gear to look for a helmet for him and at first, I wasn't too excited because I figured they would try and sell us a really expensive helmet. As soon as we walked in, there were a lot of customers in the helmets area so I didn't think we would be helped out quickly but Danny was so great at making sure each person was being helped. I really enjoyed the way Danny explained things and I really appreciated his honest opinion, we could tell that he wasn't just trying to sell us the most expensive items just to make sales. He was genuinely trying to educate us about each product so we could make the best decision for our needs. Next time I hope we get to see Danny next time we go in so he can help us again! read more

A few weeks ago i stopped by to make some purchases. I found most of the staff to be friendly and courteous. However, I had an issue with the assistant manager "Jeff." His staff forgot to remove the security clip from my jacket and i called and notified Jeff. Since i was going to have to make an unscheduled drive i asked if i could get a small portion back from my purchase or a discount on a next purchase. He said something like, "Yes, come on in and i'll take care of you." I believed we had an understanding. When i arrived, he tried to act like we did not have that agreement. After a minute of going back and forth, he suggested for me to look at the merchandise and he might give me a discount. I said, what's the point if you might not?? He insisted and so I complied in the hopes we would resolve this. I wasn't excited about their merchandise, but after i selected something, he told an associate to tell me i would get a 10% discount. While at the register i declined to purchase the item because i just felt more upset with his unprofessionalism and unwillingness to truly take care of me. I took time to think over this issue and finally i called their customer line to make a complaint. Not to get young man Jeff in trouble, but to allow a 3rd party to help us resolve this. The associate said normally after the investigation, they will call you back in about 10 days. It has been well over 10 days, no call back, so believe me, i was in no rush to submit this review. I try hard to not submit this type of review for the most part. Unfortunately, i'm left not knowing if this kid handled my issue poorly because he is racist, having a power issue, or a narcissist or what. My hope is that when management reads this review, they will take better steps to help their customers. read more

Bought my helmet and Bluetooth headset from here. Staff was very helpful and worked with me on my budget and exactly what i was going after. Store did not have the brake pads i needed in stock but was happy to order them right away. I would give 5*s but the incessant dinging in the store from the doors and whatever else wouldn't stop going off was rather distracting and i sometimes couldn't hear what she was saying. I would NOT RECOMMEND coming to this location service was horrible. Took my spoke rims in for new tubes and tires that I purchased there and came back to have them mounted the rep tells me oh yeah just bring them in and we can get started on that. Didn't offer to help bring them in as I carried two rims with tires a tire over my shoulder and a box of tubes, then he tells me he can't work on the one rim because some spikes are loose, then charges me for the labor on the rim he can work on, and after I paid I went to wait at the service department and he comes and says hi can I help you and I'm like yeah I'm just waiting for my wheel and he said oh it's a 24 hour turnaround period. That's just horrible service, he should have said we can mount the tires but we have a 24 hour turnaround time. So he let me struggle to carry all of it in then tells me. I returned the tire and tube got a refund for the labor that he charged me for and CYCLE GEAR KEARNY MESA JUST LOST A CUSTOMER AND I WILL NOT RECOMMEND ANY OF MY CONTACTS. Oh and the cashier at the front acted as if he wanted to fight because I said to the original guy tending to me " come on let's get this going I don't have time for this" I wouldn't give any stars on this review but it won't let me post without a star rating!!! read more

I've been to cycle gear a few times in the past couple years for different reasons. Their locations are pretty spread out to accommodate most of San Diego residents. This one is located in Kearny Mesa next to dollar tree and across from In and Out. They have a variety of items to suite all riders. Helmets, gloves, gear, and even parts. I will say the women's section is a little sparse... compared to the men's section. They do have very nice jackets for women but you'll be better off ordering online for in store pick up for free or ship to your home if you prefer. I've purchased gear here before over the years. This time I just needed really basic gloves. I ordered online for store pick up it took about 1 day for delivery. I checked out other gloves while I was there not much selection for women. Glad I found some online that met my needs. I've come here with my boyfriend and we've looked at helmets as well. You can find a good helmet to suite your needs here in a price range that will fit your budget. Jackets are the same as well depending on how much you can afford. But if your are going to ride I would invest in a good gear to last. Your life and skin is worth the extra money. Being a passenger it's just as important to have proper gear but don't spend your mortgage on it. You won't be riding often enough to spend that much. Overall you'll find most of what you need here. Females shop on their website there are more options online. Probably best to try on sizes in store to figure out what fits you best. Nice staff, they knowledgeable and willing to provide recommendations. Oh if you sign up for emails notifications for discount, note that it's not eligible for all purchases. I went in today to return a passenger bag and their return policy is if it is in like new condition, you get your money back, but if it's not, then you get store credit, I walk into the store with a little bit of dirt on the bag, and proceeded to return them and ask for money back. A female manager (unknown name but long brunette hair and older) takes one look at the bag and says it's store credit because of the condition, I told her it was some dirt it could be cleaned off, and she continued to argue with me that it was not in a like new condition. After that, I proceeded to wait 10 minutes for them to figure out how to get me a store credit, and it took everybody at the counter (approximately 5 different people) to figure out how to do their job correctly, I will use my store credit and that'll be the last time I shop at cycle gear. I was looking for a motorcycle/scooter jacket and Cycle Gear has an amazing selection. The main benefit of Cycle Gear over mail order is being able to try on the jackets and get the expert opinions of the staff. The Cycle Gear staff also assisted me with the accessories that specifically fit the jackets I was interested in. E.g. Back guards, safety reflectors, gloves. Ben is the gentleman that checked me out but there were two other staff members that stayed past closing to assist me. They never rushed me, rather sincerely helped me with my purchases. Some items I was interested in were out of stock, so Ben helped check the warehouse and nearby stores for their inventory. I've been here a couple times since we're new bike owners and it's a little far from home but their customer service is ON POINT!!!! From walking in and hearing a 'hello & welcome' to answering a bazillion questions & a really friendly 'have a great day' as you're walking out, BEST experience in this gear purchasing adventure. It was nice to have the crew here be genuinely nice and informative while shopping. I've been buying a lot of gear & stuff since we're new to motorcycling so having questions answered and suggestions offered is appreciated! I ended up buying another helmet and the Bluetooth system for our helmets here and the installation was done while I waited and then they synced it to ny phone for me and when my husband's helmet comes in they said bring it back and they'll install his too. Actually, I'll be upgrading to the 4 helmet kit since we both have 2 helmets now. We're looking forward to many more shopping experiences here. I brought my young son here to pick up some boots for dirty bike riding in the desert. I also was looking for an inexpensive helmet for myself. We weren't looking to buy the high end but needed something economical instead. Cycle gear had a pair of ONeal boots men's size 10 for $129 for my son. And I got an ONeal helmet on sale for $139. These were the kind of deals we were looking for. We also picked up some goggles, an American flag whip, and some air filter lubricant out the door for about $330. Cycle gear has a great selection of cycle gear, as the name suggests and also has the prices we were looking for. I could of bought a $700 helmet, but I only ride once or twice a season. I brought my Sena 50s to be repaired and didn't realize it was a dual pack purchased with my friend. Unbeknownst to me the receipt was under his name even though we both used our credit cards. To add more drama, it was actually purchased at the Chula Vista location. It seemed like the only solution was to have my friend call and request the receipt. I was a little frustrated, but the salesperson, Luis reassured me they could figure out a way to assist me. He requested assistance from his manager. Awful customer service a girl who work on Friday at 2:30pm. I should of asked her name before I leave. She ruined my day and my time. Every time I go to this store, everyone except her is welcoming and always ask me for a help. She always looks unhappy and being rude. I bought a parts from cyclegear.com and it was defective. I was mad because I spend 3 hours to install and I have to remove everything back again to bring back to the store for a refund. So I bought the same part again for an exchange defective parts. I went to pick up the parts on Friday around 2-3pm The other guy was helping me for a refund and everything was going well but then she just came to the desk and blame the guy why he gave me a refund. She was talking rudely to me that she can't process a refund because I will end up getting the item for free...? Okay. I never asked for a refund for my first order. I don't know why she was thinking that way, and her attitude was very rude. Throwing parts, keep blaming me about the defective part. I am the one that who is really mad that I got a defective part so I end up wasting my time, and money. She didn't even know what was going on. I was little confuse that why she gave me that attitude. Please find different place to work if you don't like the job. Anyways I will still come to this store for my future return/exchange. Everyone was so helpful. I was in today to get a helmet and gloves. It's my first time getting on the back of a bike so I needed help. I knew the helmet I was looking for & thankfully they had it in stock. Ryan helped me on the floor, super helpful, patient & nice.
