D'Amores is a small pizza shop inside a strip mall across from the beach on Pacific Coast Highway. This is one of many strip malls owned by a close friend of mine, who suggested I try this pizza place. It's located towards the left corner and offers free parking in the lot or on the stretch of PCH. This is my second visit here. There are two D'Amores pizza in Malibu and yesterday I posted a review for the wrong location on Heathercliff. The correct location I had been to was Pacific Coast Highway in Carbon Beach, the ritzier part of Malibu. Yesterday, while out and about in Malibu, I stopped by and ordered a couple of slices of pizza , and a togo order of their famous baked ziti with eggplant. Luckily it was during the lunch special hours and the baked ziti included a small salad, drink and a garlic knot. Due to COVID, limited people allowed inside to order, masks, gloves and social distancing was required. Limited outdoor seating next to the parking lot. Better outdoor seating was rooftop with an awesome ocean view. The staff were nice and friendly and helped bring my food order. The elevator to the rooftop was very helpful and seating layout with live trees and plants was cool. The ocean view while eating pizza was pretty great, except for the roar of vehicles on PCH. Also, no wifi and cellular reception is patchy and poor. The restaurant doesn't offer wifi, which for Carbon Beach Malibu standards is disappointing. Something shady is going on. I highly suggest anyone who come here check their credit card statements afterward. They are adding tips into some transactions. I paid $11.29 for two slices of cheese pizza, only to notice a charge for $13.29 appear on my Amex bill two days later. Granted yes, it's only two dollars. Now add those $2 up with every person who comes in that day. It's such a small number I'm assuming they think no one will notice, remember the actual amount, or perhaps think they were two dollars off. I actually happened to ask for my receipt because I felt overcharged. The menu listed single slices at $4.40, so when I was charged $11.29 for two slices (as opposed to what would have been roughly $9 and some change) I was extremely confused by their tax. When they mentioned "oh we changed our prices, here let me put it out", I didn't even made a big fuss. Whatever, I'll pay $11.29 for TWO single slices of pizza that were just advertised as $4.40 a piece. (The change was so new, the website and online ordering still had it listed at $4.40) But to then add in a tip I didn't give you on top of that. To be honest, there was so much more I wanted to review (the service, the watching a football game on your phone while I waited at the counter and didn't notice because -- great game apparently lol) ...but the adding in a tip for yourself is icing on the cake. I have an old friend who use to work at a restaurant on the Venice boardwalk years ago in our 20s and the servers got caught for doing the same thing. We stopped off here to get a few slices of cheese pizza. They were about 8 dollars each, which was a bit much but OK fine. The person at the cash register would barely acknowledge us, and was rude and unfriendly. The pizza was pretty bad, with lots of sauce and not much cheese, also way too much cornmeal on the bottom of the crust. I went back for some utensils for my daughter and the other guy working there wasn't helpful or friendly either. We wouldn't recommend it. read more

I hate when restaurants try to rip you off. I bought a slice of pizza. Paid cash. It seemed high, so I asked for my receipt. They added a 4 percent "service fee" They say it's because their costs have increased. So then raise the price in your menu and don't try and sneak a bogus service fee to everyone's bill. Anyone that knows me knows that I complain about pizza quality in LA constantly. When I moved here from Philly years ago I realized that there were some things that I will always be disappointed with here. Traffic and pizza are the top two things on my list. Also, there are only two things on the list. When I moved to Malibu a few weeks ago I saw D'Amores and rolled my eyes. I thought to myself "not another place that's trying to reinvent pizza in LA." Immediately I realized my disappointment had transformed into resentment and that felt unfair so I decided to give them a try. I walked in and ordered a slice of bbq chicken and supreme. The first thing I noticed about the slices were that they were the size of my favorite slices in South Philly. The size of two hands put together (if you have small hands). The second thing that I realized is that the crust was thin and crunchy on the outside, but soft on the inside - just the way I like it. The supreme slice and bbq chicken slices were pretty decent. The toppings seemed fresh and although the bbq sauce was a little sweet, it paired really nicely with the thin slices of red onion. Definitely my favorite slice of the two. When we were leaving we saw the owner who casually started to chat with us about the day and made sure that we had a great experience. That really meant a lot to us since kindness goes a long way. I wouldn't say that this is anywhere near Philly/ New York quality (and it's far too thin to be compared to Chicago/ Detroit style), but for West LA this is one of the best pizza options I've had. Make sure to be prepared to wait if you visit on weekends because the lines can get pretty long. read more

Not sure how this place has multiple locations let alone this spot on pch. Service, Meh. Male worker busy on phones doing his job, no small talk. Took some time to get a slice. Really warmed up the Hawaiian well. It was hot and crispy. Tasted ok. Cracker thin crust. I would have liked the sauce to have been more zippy. I liked the ham pieces and I adore pineapple on za. There was a lot of it! Would not order a whole pie, I do not think. Just got the one piece and forgot to check in on Yelp for deals. We could have had a cheese slice with purchase ... so I guess we will be back to buy more. You are right across from the beach here, not bad for a snack place. Clean inside. Key for restroom, you have to ask the clerk and it is out in the common area of the building. D'Amores is legit one of the best pizzas in LA. The fact that this location is beach adjacent makes it perfect for delivery at the beach or dining after visiting Malibu. My go to is the BBQ Chicken. Apparently the proprietor brings his water and dough from Italy which reduces the crap that most pizza places have in their wheat. And you can tell when you taste it. My boyfriend and I were looking for food nearby to eat while at the beach and found D' Amores Pizza, We placed our order on the app, over 60$ for a 16" half pepperoni, half pepperoni, chicken & Canadian bacon, an order of tenders & garlic rolls. Something I noticed on the app is that it will not let you order the rolls without adding on the 95 cent ranch. So we order and go pick it up, the first thing that happened was Christina asked how I was doing which was lovely. We chat and I say I placed a mobile order. It kinda seems like a lil frantic to gather my items triple checking my order to make sure everything was correct. While they're getting my order together my boyfriend and i are looking at the pictures of all the celebrities who ate or they -christina or joe?- have met. That's pretty interesting. So we immediately try the tenders,, tbh theyre pretty underwhelming for $13 for 8 pieces,, they seem like you can get at any gas station and the pizza is kinda dry,, the garlic rolls were crispy and soft on the inside they were the best of all our items but i wouldve like to have more garlic than seasoning on them. I'm not gonna run and tell my friends about how they need to eat at this place is but I would eat there again. read more

Letdown. First of all, the staff are great. We arrived at 6pm on a Wed, no more Bianco slices. We ordered a 12" Bianco pie. The crust was flavorless, like a wasabread crisp? Awful. Seemed like maybe we got a gluten free crust in error? Also got garlic knots, but there was no garlic. Oregano knots maybe? $47.95 with dessert, no thanks. Total letdown. read more

I have been by this place many times not knowing this little diamond was sitting right there and I didn't see it! I am really picky about the authenticity of my pizza. I mean really picky! So glad I followed my instinct on going into D'Amores Pizza. When you walk in you know they are doing it right. You can smell it. From the service all the way to the spice on the slice. The ingredients come all the way from its heritage, in Italy. And I tell you, the construction of a D'Amores Pizza is built with love. Every single one. Placement of the toppings are important. The service was good with a small amount of indoor and outdoor seating areas. Clean. They serve your food on a proper pizza pie dish that is elevated so you can have table room...as the tables here are small. The prices are average for this part of town. All in all if you're out hiking and checking out the sites than this might be a nice place to try if you're craving pizza. read more

Decent pizza and grub bcuz no other choice in malibu....pretty efficient delivery and usually takes about 45 mins....delivery guys are usually good with positive attitude. Like I said, overall decent and straight forward and it is what it is in the malibu hood....:/ The pizza has gotten better and better each time I go there....found out that they get their flour, The tomato sauce and even the water Imported from Italy.... also I noticed that the staffing has become stable and consistent so therefore the product is stable and consistent so keep doing the good work and thank you for being the best pizza in Malibu... and thank you from my kiddos too! read more
