Man! That was a GREAT sandwich! I think I actually said that at least half a dozen times after eating the thing. If that's not a good review, I don't know what is. It was a tiny bit confusing at first. So many choices..... But, once I got the "concept" down, it was really quite fun..... and DELICIOUS. So, here's how it works: First you decide if you want a pizza, a sandwich, or a salad. Then you grab a little "check-off" sheet. And, then you make your choices from lists of ingredients, put the sheet in the basket by the counter, pay, and wait for your concoction to be assembled. And, if you're truly adventurous you can make your own salad dressing from all of the olive oils, vinegars, and spice blends sold at the store. SUCH FUN! So, what kinds of choices are there? Protein choices like turkey, meatballs, sopressata, smoked salmon, and many, many more...... Cheese choices like mozzarella, feta, cheddar, manchego, and many, many more..... Veggie choices like artichokes, peppers, greens, chick peas, olives, sun-dried tomatoes..... and spread choices for sandwiches. You get a predetermined number of items for each creation for the given price (not cheap for you frugalistas..... my sandwich was $9.00, but so fresh and delicious that I thought it was WELL WORTH IT! And, it came with a side salad on which to drizzle the salad dressing that you can create yourself) or you can pay a bit more ($1-2) for each extra ingredient. I know you're at the edge of your seat wondering what my FANTABULOUS custom sandwich was, so here goes..... Fresh (in store baked) roll with turkey (wonderful roasted breast), manchego cheese (you never see that in a restaurant!!), D'Avolio red pepper sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and spicy broccoli. Stopped in for lunch with a coworker. Lovely selection of pizzas, soup & sandwich or salads. Beans & greens soup was delicious, and I enjoyed my turkey sandwich (with various toppings that I can't recall - so many choices!) I do think $10 is just a bit steep, even though all food is house-made & of good quality. I would probably go more often if it were $7.95 or $8.50 (or if they included a beverage.) Also worth noting - they do weekday lunches only (no dinners, no weekends) & there are only a 5 or 6 tables. read more

I have been here twice for lunch so far and looking forward to the next visit! First off, I have been a HUGE fan of their balsamic vinegars for a few years. They opened this resturant at least a year ago and we finally made it in! We arrived at noon which was a busy time. Since neither one of us had been there before we talked to Tiffany who was extremely helpful with assisting us with the ordering process. Since we only had an hour for lunch and there was about a 10 minute wait for a table, we ordered our food at the take out station and then when our table was ready we had them bring it to our table. Tiffany advised us that when we come in again, we can call ahead and they will put our name on the waiting list. There are about 5 high bar tables that seat 2 or 3 people, at the top level and then there are more tables on the 1st floor. I ordered the turkey sandwich on a ciabatta roll with gouda cheese. It is served with a side salad that has a delicious lemon vinaigrette. I sampled the raspberry balsamic vinegar with my sandwich but stuck with my favorite Pomegranate Balsamic vinegar. I really love that you can sample any vinegar or olive oil with your food!! My husband created his own pizza, chicken, goat cheese, hot peppers & red peppers & arugula. It was delish! The crust was thin and and crisp! We loved it so much that we went back today! Today we shared a pizza which we ordered with steak, mushrooms, blue cheese stuffed olives & arugula! Fabulous and we ate the whole thing!! They also sell candles and other items and they give Independent Health members a 10% discount on non-food items. The candles all smell wonderful! read more

I wish you could give a half star, because I would go higher if I could, but it isn't quite a 5. Went this afternoon for lunch with two friends. We ended up having to sit at the all tables that was in the retail area, so it was a little cramped, although not impossible. The layout of where the line to ring out in relation to the tables clearly made it difficult to move through the retail section. There is another seating area in the front of the building that is tables only and looked much roomier. If you can sit over in that area I recommend it instead. The food was very tasty. My friend and I both had the sandwich. You had two choices of bread, then you got: 1 meat, 1 cheese, 1 spread, 1 other toping and however many you want of lettuce, tomato, oil and a few other less expensive items. It also comes with a cup of soup for $12. A little high for the amount of food, however, not out of line when you consider the quality. My other friend got the antipasto plate and I would save it was very much worth the money! I would def get that next time or try the pizza. Even though she had to get the soup at an extra cost the plate is worth the price, which is also $12. I would absolutely go here again for another meal, I just wish that it was open on Sunday too since that is the day I'm usually out that way for a meal. Recommended. read more

Our "server" never introduced themselves to us and when asked if they had moscato, they said "we have what's on the list". We ordered our food and someone else brought it to us because the server seemed to be taking a break, which is totally fine! However, not one person checked on us and we had to stop someone else to ask for extra dressing. We finally got done eating and checked out some oils. We then went to the check out to pay for our meals and oil we got, where no one even noticed that we had food, we were honest and told them about the food we ordered, but we could have just walked out not paying for food and just our oils. (It gets packed in there between the hours of 11:30-1, so prepare for takeout if you're in a hurry, or take a late lunch one day) Great atmosphere, open kitchen, excellent musical choices & you really cannot beat the value. My co-worker & I split a pizza...11 bucks for this GIGANTIC pizza this custom-made pizza. You can add as many toppings as you want (for a small extra charge) or keep it simple. They even have these cool menus that are essential miniature dry erase boards. You just circle the add-ons that you want, hand it over to the server & within minutes...TADA! I went to D'Avolio's Kitchen to meet up with my mom on my lunch break. I work off Main St. in Williamsville and I have heard that their food is delicious. We parked on the street and walked a few steps to the building. We really didn't know how you entered the building but once inside we were right in front of a counter filled with different oils and several people behind it. There was no sign that said to wait to be seated but we wanted to sit upstairs and didn't really know the protocol. After standing at this counter for a minute or so (with 3 staff behind it) a women asked us if we needed any help with anything. After explaining that we wanted to sit for lunch she told us that we just find any empty space. We walked up the stairs and sat down at a table. There was a large table of men who were wrapping up their lunch and a table of three ladies that's it (for the upstairs). Our waitress was a older pretty women who did not introduce herself to us. She asked what we wanted to drink and gave us napkins and silverware. My mom ordered water with lemon but she never received any lemon. The menus are laminated and we were given two dry erase markers to make our selections which I thought was kind of cool and different. We chose to split a salad and a pizza. All of the food is a base price of about $10 and it includes a protein, a cheese and some veggies. The waitress was running around and about 15 minutes went by before we were able to hand in our order. We waited for a little to get our food but the weather was nice and we were chatting. When the waitress did arrive she dropped off two salads at our table. We explained that we ordered a pizza and she said "2 SALADS AND A PIZZA?!" Um, no actually you messed up. She then picked up the incorrect salad and gave it to it's right table (BEHIND US) I mean right off of our table HOW embarrassing. She went back downstairs and came up with two pizza's (1 was ours) and said that she didn't know we were sharing. I could be reading into this but I thought it was snippy (there was no mention of a shared plate fee). The food was AWESOME! Our salad had tuna salad, dried cranberries, shredded mozzarella, tomatoes and cucumbers on it and came with a balsamic oil on the side. Our pizza had a basil pesto base and we added artichokes, sun dried tomatoes and red onions. The pizza and salad were large and super easy to share. We asked for a box and the waitress (who spent a lot of time complaining that she is 40 and can't walk up and down the stairs) told us to give the cashier our number and pay downstairs. This is DUMB. Unless, the employees are really paying attention which I think they aren't people could just walk away without paying but that is just my opinion. Anyways, we walk downstairs and stand in the same spot (which is probably OUR fault) and again we are ignored for a minute or two when we are attempting to pay. We told the cashier (OUR SERVER) that we were table 23. And the kicker is, OUR server who just served us upstairs either couldn't find our tab or couldn't remember what we had to eat so we had to tell her. Everything is fresh, made to order & delicious! Their focaccia is fabulous! I love that you can create your own custom salad dressing from any of their numerous oils/vinegars. We stopped for lunch at this Italian restaurant. Beautiful, near-upscale decor, attentive staff. Impressive menu. Because we were in a hurry, I ordered the lunch veggie pizza which ended up being bigger than I expected. I finished half - it was delicious - really a nice medley of unexpected greens, artichokes - more like a salad on a pizza. I asked our waitress for a box to take home the rest of the pizza, and she took the remaining half back to the kitchen. A minute later, she returned.... and she had boxed the pizza up in a tiny plastic container, stacking each slice on top of each other!!!! Of course, when I got home, the slices had stuck to each other, and the crust was soaked and infused with the oils and toppings. I mean, seriously, pizza is a big part of their menu - did they not know not to stack pizza slices? Next time, I'll remember to ask them for a proper pizza box for any leftovers! read more

Newly expanded and beautiful indoor patio gives them more room to eat and not feel cramped in a small location. They added new ways to order as it was confusing when they first opened. You can now order from your seat although you still have to fill out the duplicate forms. They do have a floor person that walks around to make sure your all set. Now to the food: DELICIOUS!!! I love that you can make your own selections on types of proteins, veggies, sauces, and spreads for your sandwich. You pick what you want and the kitchen will gladly make it for you. If you order the sandwich you get a choice of soup or salad. The salad is basic but freshly prepared and I would suggest the salad because you get to make your own dressing while you are waiting, which I thought was a very neat idea! (note: they do have prepared dressings if you don't want to be unique). When you are done you can pay at the register and walk out feeling satisfied. Whats more important is that its a local restaurant in Williamsville so as long as the prices aren't out of this world, i would gladly keep returning. My fiancé and I came to buy some olive oils and noticed they had a kitchen, so we decided to have lunch. Long story short, we eat here at least once a week, sometimes 2. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. The food is delicious and you can make your own salads, pizzas and sandwiches with tons of different ingredients. We always order the exact same thing however, because it's too good to try anything else. I'll give you my secret pizza order- Black Olive Tapenade, Manchego Cheese, Sun Dried Tomatoes, Arugula, Artichokes. I ordered a salad, which was huge and I had to take half back to work. I usually don't do this with a salad...you're eating salad for a reason and there shouldn't be leftovers! My friend has been raving about D'Avolio's for quite sometime now and we finally had the chance to meet for lunch. From beginning to end I had a wonderful dining experience. Our server greeted us right away and came quickly with our drinks. All the staff were friendly and attentive. I ordered a flatbread which was much larger than I had expected. I chose the basil pesto, roasted red peppers, asparagus, sun dried tomatoes and goat cheese. Every topping was incredibly fresh. The flat bread was cooked to perfection. The added touch was when one of the owners checked on us to see how we were doing. I noticed she had made a point to stop at each table and was very hands on with running food, drinks, etc. This leadership is not seen everywhere and needs to be commended. It was clear what all the hype was about! I will definitely be returning and bringing friends to enjoy such a wonderful experience as well. read more

Super cute!!!! I went to this restaurant recently with some girlfriends and we had a great experience overall. I thought it was a unique setup and loved how they had the oil/vinegar bar where you can taste a variety of samples. They also give you bread to dip into your samples which gives you something to snack on before dinner. To order, they give you markers so you circle what you want from the menu. I ordered a pizza, so I circled which sauce I want, toppings, etc. Overall, I enjoyed this restaurant and the fact that it is kind of a hidden gem so there isn't tons of chaos like at chain restaurants. read more

Simply the best Pizza I have had in Buffalo NY. Measurably better than any of the other pizza I have had in the area. I will return next time I come visit. Had a very bad experience here last time. The waitress or the kitchen lost our order. People after us were eating while we waited. We asked the waitress to check on our order, and she said they hadn't forgotten without checking. She still wouldn't make eye contact while others continued to get fed so i went and asked again and she said she'd ask right away. She continued to wipe down tables and serve others and eventually said the computer lost our order but it wasn't her fault. She never said sorry, just asked if we wanted to re-order. I went here for a gift so this review is strictly on that experience. I did not eat here, YET! At first we were semi greeted by a woman who could have cared less if we stayed or not. When I asked her some questions and/or help to pick out a gift, she bascially pointed and said, everything left is over there! Because of a time crunch I stayed and made my way through the shelves of pretty packaged, wonderful smells and incredible tastes of the oils and vinegars. I asked a different clerk for help and she couldn't have been more helpful. She not only helped me put together a basket, she had great suggestions and packaged it up beautifully for me. D'Avolio's Kitchen located on Main St., Williamsville is definitely a one-stop shop for getting a quick bite/appetizer and doing a little shopping for gourmet oils. Much like its Elmwood (and I'm assuming the Lewiston location) counterpart, the walls of the shop are lined with D'Avolio's line of gourmet oils, vinegars (CIlantro/Garlic Oil and Chipotle oils or bust!), and salts. Complementing the selection are sample bread stations generally scattered around for dipping and tasting. The "Shopping" part of D'Avolio's Kitchen is top-notch...no complaints there. Where I had to take a star from is the dining portion. DK shares a building (reconverted house would be my guess) with a local architecture firm (said firm taking up the second floor of the building), connected by a common area/stairwell. As such, DK is pretty cramped, once you factor in the (pub) tables and kitchen area. We went on a Saturday around lunch, and the place was packed with both diners and shoppers. It was extremely awkward brushing against tables while browsing for oils. I could tell that the dining patrons were bothered/annoyed by us as well as other customers merely there for the oils. This led for a rushed and uneasy shopping experience. I will say that the food looked delicious and I really loved the open kitchen aesthetic on display. While the shopping is to par with its Elmwood counterpart, I can't see myself using this location as my go-to shop (despite being so close to our house), unless we go during a less-busy time. D'Avolio's Kitchen definitely maximizes the available space, but it's for this reason that I prefer the (more spacious and dining table-less) location on the Elmwood strip. read more

I've been here many times, but not in a while. Have always gone to the Main Street location. This time I went to the location in East Amherst on Transit. This location has a very nice ambiance. It was very busy when we went which was later on a weekend. I think the prices have gotten a bit high, and that's why I haven't been in a while. The food is always fresh and just so good. I also like the pre-made salad dressings. They are always so good. I also really like buying their olive oils. They are expensive, but high quality and definitely worth it. I've had their salads, antipasti, pizza and sandwiches. No complaints. Definitely a place worth trying. read more

I've eaten here many times and never had a bad experience. Today I ordered take out and was extremely disappointed. I'm a drug rep so I order lunches out on a daily basis. Today I ordered 4 salads and sandwiches to go--- I paid $5 extra for utensils. The salads were without dressing (none on the side, which I requested). The $5 I paid for utensils got me TWO forks... two forks, no plates, nothing. The worst part was I specifically asked before taking the bags of food if there was utensils and dressing and was told yes. Never will order take out from them again. read more

D'Avolio's Antipasto is amazing. It's basically like getting a salad, but with waaaayyy more toppings, and less lettuce. If you like loading up on cheese and meats and other yummy toppings, this dish is for you. Ordering food at this restaurant is fun too - the menu's are laminated and you circle the details of your order with a dry erase marker, and the waiter comes and collects them. My latest visit was with three friends: we each ordered a different dish from the menu - antipasto, sandwich, pizza, and a salad. Everyone was super satisfied with their meal. I wish I didn't even need to put a 1 star rating because the service was so bad I would put a negative rating. I asked for a lemon and salt and pepper for my salad and waited 10 minutes for it. Also, my party of 5 asked for waters and drinks all around and that took about 15 minutes. Then the manager/owner came up to our table and asked us if anything was wrong and my friend said it was kinda slow, so the manager decided to say "sorry about it" because of COVID and takeout. That makes no sense because I asked for a lemon and salt and pepper which is easily accessible if they were just paying attention and participating in good customer service. This is my favorite lunch spot. I always get their appetizers. Everything is so fresh, and I love the olive oil display where I can help myself to try different flavors each time I go. Their pizza always look amazing with all the fresh greens on top. Makes you feel good eating pizza haha. If you come here during winter time, make sure you don't sit by the door next to the kitchen. We came here and everyone had told us to get the pizza and the soup. We sat down quickly which was great. They ended up serving someone else one of our dishes. The pizza was pretty greasy/oily, although it tasted good. They do have a lot of different oils which is pretty good, although some were empty when you went to try them. Servers were nice and friendly. Pizza stands are an accident waiting to happen, one wrong move and the entire thing falls over. Consistently delicious. I've eaten here or taken out food 3 times in the last 2 weeks. The sandwich bread is fresh and chewy and all ingredients are fresh and plentiful. The model of build your own pizza/sandwich/salad is a perfect concept for keeping customers happy. But really important is that the take out food is checked- eliminating errors. A great place to grab a salad, sandwich, or a pizza. Since opening they have made the process of ordering so much less confusing, which is nice. Seating is not exactly abundant and you will find yourself waiting during the lunch rush unless you are lucky enough to get a table. Have to wait? No worries, walk around and check out all of the olive oil. My favorite part is making up my own dressing, allows you to be creative. Don't have time to be creative or just don't have the desire? Not a problem. They have dressings ready to go for ya. Service is always good and the staff is always friendly. This place has great items for lunch. Their salads are huge. The last time I was in I had a sandwich with a side salad. The dressings are delicious.
