I went here for lunch the other day and it was absolutely delicious! Basically you get a two sided piece of paper and a marker and you mark off what you want - you can either get a salad, sandwich or a pizza, and you choose your toppings. It's a bit pricey ($11.90 after tax for my sandwich) but it was one of the best, and freshest sandwich's I've ever had, it also came with a side salad. For the salad you can actually make your own dressing, which I recommend doing. Try the maple vinegar mixed with some oil! Along with the restaurant you can shop for oil, vinegar and skincare here. Never disappoints! If you're ever looking for a great salad that's as delicious as it is filling, this is the place to go. I've been to the downtown location for lunch multiple times and it's great. Only problem is that it's not open nights for dinner, but we made the trip to Williamsville and it was equally as good. They even had a rooftop patio so we could eat outside. I really love the atmosphere at this location in Williamsville. And the service is superb. I normally go for lunch during work. I can easily get in and out within 45 minutes to an hour. I went for the first time on a weekend, and despite being busy, still received my food within a respectable time. This is a must try if you are stopping in Williamsville. Great spot for a quick lunch or dinner. I've been a few times and always enjoyed. They have a slightly non-traditional ordering system, in which you're given a dry erase menu and then choose from pre-set salads, sandwiches, and pizzas, or you create your own by circling your choices with a dry erase marker. Ingredients always taste fresh and everything is well-prepared. Service had been pretty consistently slow, and I try to be forgiving because I know how difficult it is to find good help right now, but when the place is empty and you have one table and two servers there really isn't any excuse for us sitting with empty drink glasses or having to ask multiple times for the bill. Overall would still recommend but takeout might be a better overall experience. read more

The pizza is delicious here. My only complaint is that if one uses their online ordering system, the order does not always show up at their store. Tried it out and not disappointed at all! :D This D'Avolio is at the edge(?) of the Village and has a small parking lot in the back side of the building. My husband and I went around 11:45am (Saturday) and once it hit 12:30pm, a line started to form for seats. They don't have a lot of seating, but big enough to have 10 parties. The ordering system here is really interesting. They give you a menu and a whiteboard marker, and you basically circle the options you want on the menu. We ordered (1) Dough: gluten free pizza with (2) One sauce: basil pesto sauce (3) One cheese: shredded mozz (4) One meat: Italian herb chicken (5) Three toppings: arugula, onions, and mushroom. For each additional topping, there is an extra charge. We also ordered a sandwich with (1) Bread: Ciabatta (2) Protein: Beef (3) Spread: basil pesto (4) Cheese: Parm (5) One side: side salad. Both were very delicious but the gluten free pizza was ESPECIALLY good. There was so much flavor in the first bite, and you can tell how rich the olive oil they put in is. The total for the two orders was about $30 and we were very satisfied after the meal. Totally worth it! The salads that other people ordered looked really good too. I used to love this place....mainly for the salads. Sadly the menus have changed (along with the ingredients), and prices have increased. I ordered the steak salad on my most recent trip here. I highly discourage you from ordering it. For some reason "Steak-umm" was used on it. I've never had a steak salad with steak-umm and I NEVER want to again. Stopped by here recently to pick up one of the sandwiches I've heard about from many. went back the following week for another. Walking in the front door, on the Main Street side, there's a fairly long walkway until you get into the restaurant. The restaurant seems to have a few different rooms, with different feels to them. I'm not sure if they seat you or not, we were there for takeout. We walked back towards the takeout area, where you can also buy oils and vinegars. And sample them too of course. The menu is huge. You have to make a ton of decisions. I would love to have a few sandwiches they suggest, but they want you to make your own your way. Ok. But I'm not great at that. So we got a meatball sandwich with tomatoes and some sort of sauce. It was really good. As in I'd order it again, but I can't really remember what it was. So next time, there will be an new sandwich. Variety is the spice of life after all! Hopefully I will choose as good a pairing. It came with a chicken soup that was also very good. And a generous portion. Parking hit or miss here. Their wraps are my favorite and I love that you complete customize your meal. There are so many different options which is great if you follow a specific diet or have a food allergy. All right - let's get the important things out of the way: 1. Don't go during the lunch rush hour if you can avoid it, 2. Try parking on Main Street first before turning into their super tiny one-way lot, and 3. Ask to be seated in the main dining room if you're claustrophobic or hate strangers standing within close proximity of you and your food. There's really no good waiting area which means people just sort of stand around while waiting for a table, or walk around tasting various oils and vinegars on the perimeters of the store. Now, the service is inconsistent. Sometimes you get someone nice and chipper, but most times during the lunch rush (noon-1:30) you're going to get someone who's overwhelmed and in a bad mood. The food is phenomenal, with fresh ingredients and large portions. The giant salads come with bread, and you can either make your own dressing, use the pre-made ones they have, or ask your server to make a custom one for you. Their pizzas are pretty good - they're thin crust, more like flatbreads - definitely large enough to share. Sandwiches come with a little side salad too which is nice. It's been a while since I've eaten there, so it's possible that their menu has changed. There aren't very many drink options. I've always been there for lunch during the week so I never ordered the wines. Soft drinks include basic soda, and a couple of iced teas. Our house is stocked with oils and vinegars from here - they are fabulous! Our favorite olive oils include the Tuscan herb, garlic, white truffle, and basil. Our favorite balsamic vinegars are the 18 year traditional, strawberry, and champagne. They've since opened another location with a kitchen in the theater district downtown, also on Main Street I believe. I can't physically get enough D'Avolio's. The Williamsville location boosts a larger seating area and more oils and vinegars to go. I picked up a prosciutto, arugula, red onion, hot cherry peppers, Italian herb spread, oil and fresh mozzarella cheese sandwich. I added the beans and greens for a side. I highly recommend you purchase this EXACT lunch next time you're in. Pros: Prosciutto. Everything else. Cons: Weird limited parking, limited drink selection, tight seating area, semi-rude employee on one visit. On my first visit, I was looking for holiday gifts. Came on a weekday during the later lunch hour and found it frustrating to navigate around all of the oil barrels on the perimeter of the room and people sitting at the tables on the inside of the room. I'm confident that it would have taken me a third of the time to pick out what I wanted if the seating wasn't in the way. The concern I had that I'd bend over a stick my butt in someone's face while doing so added some time on to my decision making. Anyway, I left happy and the girl at the counter on my first visit was really helpful and sweet. YAY! Brought my parents back a few days later to try the food since I saw some AMAZING looking sandwiches being made and eaten while making my purchases. We got there around 3:40pm and after marking up our papers with our orders (mom and dad both got sandwiches and I got an antipasto) we were excited to try our culinary creations! Brought the papers to the counter to pay and pick out drinks and the girl at the counter informed us that the kitchen closed at 4pm and hopefully our food would be out by then in a snotty tone. As if to say, thanks for coming in so freaking late. Oddly, nothing on the website mentioned that the kitchen closed at 4pm- everything said 7pm. Which apparently is when the shop closes. Okay... We would have come earlier if we had known! Anyway, the food was so freaking good. I crafted my own amazing antipasto and even though I loved everything about it, my favorite item on the plate was the prosciutto. I LOVE good prosciutto! It was so good that my mouth is watering as I'm typing this. The olives were awesome, the cheese YUM. The bread, ooof madón! I loved it. Everything about it. This was my first trip here after hearing people rave about it for years. I met a friend on my lunch break so I didn't have a whole lot of time to explore the store. Everything at a quick glance looked amazing though. It's Covid-life right now, so we ordered our food online, which was a huge convenience. It was ready at the counter when we got there, and then we took it upstairs to the outdoor balcony to enjoy it. I'm not sure how seating or ordering normally works, though. We did see people with menus at the tables and it seemed like they were being served by a waitress. I ordered the antipasto, which turned out to be a great choice. You choose between a selection of proteins, cheeses, spreads, sides, etc. It was really large, and really chock full of food. It's like having all the delicious sides or appetizers without having to pick just one main dish. I loved it. I'd definitely come back when I have more time. read more

Not only does D'Avolio's have great food, there is tons of olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette to try while you wait with small bread samples! After sitting at your table of choice (tables are small and high, can fit no more than four people) you are offered a drink and handed a menu and a sharpie. You then select all of the ingredients for either a pizza, a sandwich, antipasto, or a salad. Fresh vegetables, savory proteins and unique sauces fill the menu, making for an entirely customizable (and delicious) experience. Soups are hot, fresh, and tasty! The pizza is very large and can easily feed two or three people - great bang for your buck! There are a variety of additional items for sale (aside from the dozens of incredible oils and vinaigrettes) including unique pastas, spices, jams, lip balms, dishware, candles, and more! I definitely suggest roaming through the rest of the room before or after your meal to see what other goodies they have to offer. The only drawback at this location was that the tables made for a very cramped dining space when eating with more than two people. This resulted in a lot of knocking things over, spilling, and struggling to split our dishes. I would recommend keeping your dining party to two people or ordering out - ordering out is easily customizable as well, with order sheets that you fill out to your liking before handing them over the to staff. I would usually go for the pizza but decided to go for the antipasto. I love the amount of quantity they gave, everything fresh and so many antipasto toppings to choose from, so now next time I get this again I'll change the toppings. I got my antipasto with honey garlic chicken, mozzarella, broccoli, mushrooms, heart artichokes, olives stuffed with bleu cheese. The sauce, spread I got for my antipasto is red pepper sauce. The antipasto came with a bread, it was so delicious and soft. Can't wait to try out their pizza next time, the antipasto was really filling and delicious. I love coming to D'avolio for not only their awesome oils and vinegars, but also the food. Each oil and vinegar is able to be tasted, usually accompanied by small pieces of fresh bread you can dip into. Of course if you come in not knowing a thing about oils and vinegars, the staff is ok with you taking 5 hours to figure out what you plan on leaving with. I should know... Staff are very knowledgeable about each selection and know what is good to pair together if you're trying to make a healthy dressing for salads. There is even a list of pairings that go well together by the vinegars and oils. You are able to sample your concoction as well. They are a bit pricey, don't get me wrong. But you won't regret the extra bit of flavor you're getting with a meal at home. And onto the lunch... Fresh ingredient pizza, salads, soups, sandwiches, antipasto, etc. these are definitely pricey as well, around $10 and up, but well worth it if you want a great bite to eat. There is an extensive list on the sheet you fill out to place your order... It's an extra $1.50 or so to add extras if you pick more than one from each selection offered but picking one is enough for me since Id choose everything if I could. The guys preparing the food are super cool and if you have a specific request they'll do it for you. I ordered a sandwich with fresh focaccia, turkey, Gouda, oil, lettuce, tomato, onion, olive tapenade spread, and beets. The side salad it came with was pretty decent size. And you have the choice to make your own dressing... ( I tried that once, and like I said it would take me 5 hours) or there are premade ones set aside for the day, with a few different mixtures to choose from. I tried the tangerine lime. I've been here several times, the location in the heart of the Village of Williamsville, and as much as I try to shake things up and order something new, I usually go for my favorite made to order sandwich. For those who haven't yet been here, you are given a large dry erase menu with options to build your own pizza, antipasto, salad, and sandwich. My go to is a tuna salad sandwich on focaccia with lettuce tomato basil pesto fresh mozzarella and mild banana peppers. You can get soup or salad as a side, and I love the beans and greens soup so I get that! The way you order is fun by the way. You get a menu with a dry erase marker. You pick the category food you like ( pizza for me) and then you start building it to your liking. Staff is always there is you need help narrowing things down. I ordered classic roman pizza with pesto base , fresh mozzarella, spinach, artichoke hearts, garlic stuffed olive , and grilled shrimp. My wife ordered cauliflower crust pizza, with white olive oil sause, fresh mazzorella, herb chicken, sun dried tomatoes, asparigus, and spinach. One of the things I like is that everything is made to order, which means every dish is fresh and unique. While waiting for our order, an extremely nice waitress served us a warm freshly made bread. Normally would get bread if you're waiting for your food with butter. No, not here, this is next level. The bread was for sampling. Sampling what you may ask? Well, this entire restaurant is packed with many different kinds of oils infused with different flavors, and vinaigrettes of all kinds. They make their own oils and it's family-owned. We were introduced to many olive oils and many vinaigrettes and even mixes of the two. This was revolutionary for my taste buds. I have a new appreciation for olive oil and vinaigrette oh, I did not know I can go beyond from what a naturally is. Frankly, I almost forgot I order food. I was only reminded when it came in and set on my table. I was pleased with how beautiful both dishes looked. The smell was making my mouth water like a waterfall. So, as I was thinking that it could not be better-- it did. Let's just say I have a whole new appreciation for cauliflower pizza. It literally tastes like normal Pizza crust, but with more flavor. I was shocked! I said it can't be, pinch me please! All the ingredients of the cauliflower pizza Blended Heavenly all together , oh, it was delicious. So as I descend back to Earth I get to try my pizza. The bar was set high at this point, and it was persistent. The nicely done crust, evenly melted cheese, well seasoned pesto, fresh shrimp and veggies... my palate was right back in heaven. My satisfaction at D'avilios was so high that I'm definitely willing to travel the distance to dine there again, and again, and again x1000. I am not that impressed. You put together your own salad or salad or pizza or sandwich combination. I had a salad so one choice from the roughage section, one from the meat section, one from the cheese section, and finally the "extras"(choice of 3)mushrooms, sliced egg, and beets were my picks, and the dressing. Not exactly a salad bar! I was given a very large bowl of greens, some shedded chicken, well spread across the greens, less than the equivalent of a small beet of cooked beet cubes, a 1/2 "handful" of sliced mushrooms and slightly less that 1/2 of a sliced hard boiled egg! I choose the asiago cheese. There are no creamy salad dressings, only different vinegar combos. Mine was a chipotle- balsamic. It had the heat, but not much flavor. The salad was good; I just think that not much in it for $12.45. Picking extra meat or cheese or "extras" from $1.00-2.00 per item seems pretty expensive to me. We asked for separate checks. The waiter got it wrong, switching the salads on the checks. In this case, there was little difference between the couples' checks. There would have been a second check request had there been more expensive lunches by one couple. read more

My friend and I split a pizza topped with steak, arugula, artichoke heart, sun dried tomato, fresh moz, and pesto. We also split a chickpea salad with fresh berries, quinoa, roasted beets, and gouda. The menu of D'Avolio's reads like a DIY manual. You "assemble" your own meal. There are 4 main options: antipasto, salad, pizza or sandwich. I decided to go for a sandwich. First you pick your bread, than your protein (I picked steak) and some other options like pickles and lettuce. The last thing to pick is the side dish: soup, salad or pasta salad. The waiter then takes your menus and starts punching them in for the kitchen. After about 10 min our orders arrived. I took my first bite to find out something was missing: the steak! I called the waiter, he checked his order and forgot to punch in my steak. He offered to bring me a whole new sandwich. I asked for just the steak, why waste perfectly good food. He said sorry, but did not offer anything else. The pasta bean soup was nice. The serving size was okay, I did not leave hungry, the cup of soup is kinda small though.
