Well my friends, here I am again, going to new spots (at least for me), around the neighborhood. I have to be honest, I discovered this place totally by accident. I was coming out from a Sunday brunch and a wrong turn in the parking lot put me in front of this place. Definitively I was willing to try. Let's start with a little history. This place used to be Sfereco, also an Italian restaurant who disappeared not so long ago just out of the blue (even the one at the Flower Mound's river walk closed for good. I had a review for it in my profile if you want to check it). Back to D'Nonna. Once I transposed the door, I saw the setup is pretty much the same than Sfereco used to be. It was a Wednesday night and late for Texas standards, so the place was not busy. I sat at the bar. I noticed the bartender was taking care of the table (only one occupied at that point) and she took care of me (exactly the same happened to me at "Sfereco"). I ordered a glass of Chianti. After a bit the girl (who confessed to be below drinking age) told me she cannot find it. She offered me a red blend instead. Once I tried, I figured out she did not know the wines. She poured me a slight sparkling sweet red (Rivata Casa Rossa), typical dessert wine. I checked the bottles myself and I saw a California blend. She replaced my glass (much better at this point). I ordered the "Lewisville" salad (their version of Arugula and red beets) and Gnocchi 4 cheeses for entree. I got a basket of bread, which were very similar to the garlic roles "Sfereco" used to serve (too many coincidences, isn't it?). One thing I have to point, is they mismatched the order of the plates, I got the Gnocchi before my salad (hence the 4 out 5 stars). I asked the little bartender if she can switch the order, which she did with no hesitation. I ate my salad, which I can tell it was well balanced, since you have Arugula (sour) and Beets (sweet), so the dressing has to be up to par (which was, indeed). The Gnocchi, I can point, very few Chefs in Dallas (and if you rush me, I will say in America), knows how to cook Gnocchi (they cook pretty fast, and they become "polenta" if you overcook them), and these ones were right on point! Kudos to the Chef!! The four-cheese sauce was kind of mild but flavorful (Chef, not my intention to give you advise, but I could use a little bit of powdered Nutmeg there). I finished the plate in pretty much no time (I was hungry and it tasted good). Got myself an after-dinner drink, paid and left. Honestly, I felt like I was back at "Sfereco". The experience was pretty close so was the result. Well, the important thing is, I found another good dinning place around the neighborhood. If you are thinking about going to the "Garden-Of-The-Olives" or similar, I really encourage you to try this place instead. You won't be dissapointed. read more

D'Nonna is in downtown Lewisville and seems to be a favorite for retirees. Drinks were delicious! Chicken parmigiana had a nice flavor but was a little gritty, weirdly. Accompanying spaghetti could have been cooked a little less. Veggie pizza was great, with the perfect amount of roasted veggies! We tried the chocolate mousse cake for dessert and it was awful - dry and seemed old - definitely not made in house. Went with a few friends for a late dinner. We were not too hungry and between the 5 of us ordered. Eggplant Parmesan, Chicken Martini, and Chicken and Chicken Cacciatore. Chicken Martini is breaded fried chicken served with spaghetti and a lemon sauce, while Chicken Cacciatore is grilled chicken also served with spaghetti but with a robust and a bit spicy tomato-based sauce. Eggplant Parmesan is not served with any pasta. All dishes were fresh had good flavors but not overpowering and the portion sizes were generous. The service was great and the ambience was relaxed and welcoming. Overall a great experience. read more

We tried this place last week on on a week night. It was not very busy, about 6 to 7 other tables. I loved the decor and ambiance. It is a family owned restaurant and service was excellent! Food was a mixed experience...pizzas were delicious and the chopped salad was good, however, the bruschetta and Lewisville salad were underwhelming! The quantities were pretty small and the later had 4 thin slices of beets, goat cheese crumbled on top and barely dressed arugula! It tasted better after we requested and added some balsamic glaze. We were too full, so did not try any dessert. At the end of our meal, one of the owners chatted with us and shared the history of the restaurant and their weekly special events, which was nice. Our meal ended with complementary liqueurs. Over all it was a nice experience. We will surely be back to try other things on the menu. read more

Found this Italian restaurant while driving home. Food was really good. They first start you off with some bread and maraiana sauce. We ordered the margarita pizza, and the tortellini puttanesca which had black olives, ham in this creamy red sauce. Overall really good food. Arsim was great. read more

Fun restaurant with friendly staff and great food. They updated the interior from the prior restaurants in this location. Caesar salad was large enough to share. Arribiata Pizza was the right level of spicy with Hot Soppressata and basil. The Four Cheese Gnochi was a huge serving. They had live music with someone singing Italian standards with some Tom Jones thrown it. Guy knew how to get everyone singing along. read more

I had seen a lot of great reviews for D'Nonna on my local Lewisville page so I knew when my mother in law came into town we should go. We started off with the fried ravioli- and while you it was okay, the ricotta mixture didn't seem seasoned. My wife and MIL both had the lasagna. it was okay, my wife had bits of hard gristle. They also originally forgot hers and only brought out my entree and my MIL. I ordered the d'nonna seafood pasta. On the menu it came with a red sauce however when I ordered, the server asked me if I wanted the red sauce or a white wine sauce- as one does I opted for the white wine sauce. When it originally came out it came with the red sauce. They took it back to remake it with the white wine sauce, which I was thankful for but unfortunately, it probably would have been better with red sauce. The only good thing was the shrimp- though overcooked. The sauce had no flavor whatsoever, neither did any of the seafood in the pasta. Additionally, there was so much "white wine sauce" I started calling is pasta soup. I know this place had good reviews so not sure if we came on an off night, but I really wouldn't be back. My boyfriend and I were out shopping and decided to google a place nearby for dinner. Boy am I glad we did! We found a gem! The taste of this pasta is by far the closest we've come to authentic Italian cuisine in the states. The service was unmatched, handshake thanking us at the door as we left included. They gave us heavy pours on the wine and our drinks never got less than half empty. The restaurant inside looks immaculate! I've never seen such a clean and well organized restaurant. The food. I ordered Eddie's Napolis Special. It was ok. Nothing to write home about. Pretty bland if you ask me. I like my food to pop with flavor. Wasn't happening with this dish. The guy sitting next to me at the bar had already finished his meal. He said the bread was pretty good. I wouldn't know. Never received any bread. The service was a solid "D". The bartender talked to her mom (who was eating a meal next to me) the ENTIRE time. The subject of this convo was her woes with...I'll save her the embarrassment. I don't want to hear my server complaining during my entire meal. She never checked on me or my food. Oh, and she put a plate of food in front of me that I didn't order (a meatball appetizer). Having never been here before, I took a bite before realizing it wasn't at all what I ordered. I brought it to her attention and she took my plate and set it in front of the person who did order it! With a healthy bite missing from one of the meatballs! Me and the guy next to me had to bring it to her attention. Ambiance was decent. Looked more promising that my experience was. By far. This is my new favorite Italian restaurant in Flower Mound/Lewisville area. I enjoyed the Seafood Ravioli; my wife enjoyed the Chicken Martini (similar to Chicken Piccata but w/o capers) and our daughter enjoyed the Fettuccini Alfredo. Their bread is great. For the Seafood Ravioli, both the vodka palomino sauce and well as the raviolis were something special. The Chicken Martini is a meal for two. The service was great. We never had to ask for water or more bread. Rico was great and shared the music list off YouTube they were playing. read more

I really hate to be this person but the service and quality of food was absolutely horrible. The ambiance was fantastic. It took asking five people where our waiter was to at least take a drink order and that continued through the entire dinner. One waiter actually said he would go find our waiter after we waited 15 minutes for the drink order and he went and stood at the check register by our table and looked over the restaurant. We never got an official waiter and no one seemed to care. The food was not good at all. The carbonara pasta tasted like they put bacon bits for the protein and the shrimp Alfredo was so dry that neither plate was eaten hardly. I had the spaghetti bolognese and would rather have warmed up some pasta and poured ragu sauce on it at home. We wish we would have just gone to our regular Italian spot that has ok service but food is great. I strongly recommend to not go here. It should be noted that the meal was comped some for the food quality. read more

Unfortunately had a bad experience here! There may have been a language barrier with the waiter but after waiting forever for my glass of wine, I had to go up and ask the owner. My 'gluten free' chicken entree was tasteless. I had asked for a side of vegetables instead of the pasta but the waiter told me he 'didn't know how they made it gluten free but it would be gluten free' .
