This is the first time I have ever written a review. The restaurant was easy to find, and we got a table immediately. The food was good. We were looking forwrd to a nice evening. So why am I writing a review? Our server and the owner of the place were very rude. We were rushed to order our food. When we still had food on our plates, wanting to take our time finishing up, our waiter started taking things away while we were still were eating. Then, when we drinking our coffees,the waiter and the busboy cleared the table. I said to them, please don't clear the table. They came back with the boss and the three of them cleared the table. The owner told us that each table has to be out in 2 hrs. I suggested he put that fact on their website. We are not coming back. read more

D'oro is a wondetful place to dine, the food is divine, the owner Sammy is a warm friendly host always with a big smile he treats you like you are his most important customer, as for the service it is above and beyond perfect, our favorite waiter Mike is very attentive to everyone needs, as all the server's at D'oro are! Average rating for average food. I was excited when I walked in because the restaurant smelled like garlic and seafood and so I ordered linguine and clams. I was so disappointed when I got my dish because it just tasted like olive oil. There was no garlic flavor, and no clam flavor!!! I just kept thinking how I could make this at home 100x better. My grandmother also disliked her dish and when she told the waiter he argued with her and kept insisting it was excellent. I had to ask the waiter to please stop yelling at my grandmother and to leave her alone because she didn't like the dish. Wouldn't go back. read more

I came here with high hopes but was disappointed. The service was great, but the food the un impressive. Very bland and served like warm. I have been to this restaurant 3 times. As a local resident I can't support the business any more as enough is enough. Apologies only go so far and when you have the same repeat mistakes its time to move on. We decided to go out as 3 couples the first time. Our tables food was delivered to another table then put back on our table. That in itself is gross when the plates are put in front of other patrons. After 5 of 6 plates finally delivered to the right table the waiter says to one of the women at our table that they were out of stock on a particular fish and asked her what she wanted instead. She had to wait for her food while the other 5 ate. It took us telling the wait staff multiple times what food we ordered. Second time the wait was about an hour to get food as they were very disorganized.I kept asking where our dinner was. Flat our poor responses from staff. My wife and I went a 3rd time and had the wrong food delivered to our table again and we had to wait another 15 minutes to get the correct order delivered. Bottom line the service is very disorganized that is clear at this point.The food is good.The food was the reason we kept coming back (portions were just ok) although somewhat overpriced. Cute atmosphere but noisy inside. Won't go back again, not worth the poor service, food mix ups, average portion and miscommunication among the staff. Went there on a Tuesday Night (day after Labor Day) to take my best friends daughter for a belated birthday dinner (her choice of restaurant). We were the first people to arrive for dinner, it was a very, very hot day and it was very, very hot in the restaurant. I had to ask for the A.C. to be turned to lower temp and maybe turn the fans on. First off, the bread was stale, at least warm it up.(This is the 3rd time I've been there and there has always been a bread issue) We ordered the Spedino alla Romana $9.00 as an appetizer to share. (Fresh mozzarella and bread dipped in eggbatter golden fried served with anchovie caper sauce) It was cold in the center. My husband ordered a Mahi-Mahi special which he enjoyed. My friends daughter ordered the gnocchi, which she also enjoyed. I ordered the Pollo alla Caprese $22.00 (Panko crusted chicken breast pan seared and baked served with arugula, tomatoes, red onions, imported buffalo mozzarella, garlic, basil and extra virgin olive oil) I asked if I could have a potato with it - I was told it came with a salad over it - so I guess I could not have that potato. In any event, the dish was tasty.. but as I got to the bottom piece of chicken, there was a 2" piece of bone sticking straight up from the chicken "breast" - at that point I kind of lost my appetite and didn't really want to make a scene with my friends daughter there, so I let it go. We split 2 desserts between the 3 of us and the bill came to $111.00 I don't think I will be going back to this place. Really should be call "Bore-O." A menu completely lacking in any imagination. I understand the "home cooking, know what you get" desire; and I'm not looking for exotic cuisine, mind you. But there is nothing on the menu that isn't entirely boring. Chicken a la Just How You Always Eat It. And what the hell is with mashed potatoes and broccoli as the side dish to every Italian entree?!! That is simply unacceptable, unless you're in a diner or in Iowa. Indeed, mashed potatoes is the metaphor for this place: tasty but bland. Food is good, don't get me wrong. But please, guys, make some effort. You don't have to be a gourmand to be disappointed here. This restaurant is more like Staples than a nice dinner out. People who complain about portion size are right. I've been underfed here twice. I've passed this restaurant hundreds of times as it's situated on the main street of my neighboring town but I never ventured in until this past Wednesday night. I decided to get takeout from D'ORO as I had a serious craving for Italian food. I went with the special appetizer of burrata (an item I can never say no to if it's on the menu), and rigatoni with bolognese sauce. D'Oro is gracious & elegant in decor and service, and NOT stuffy in any way. Guests also reflect this mode: upscale but casual & not stiff. Going mostly by a recent NYT review, we had the following: - Calamari: prob the BEST ever tasted anywhere! Very light/not greasy and the most tender ever! - Greek Salad special: super fresh/delicate/tasty, though portion could be bigger. - the spiedino alla Romana was a decadent concoction of fried bread and mozzarella dipped in egg batter and served with a deeply concentrated anchovy-caper sauce. Interesting appetizer & delicious sauce. - The orecchiette with broccoli rabe and sausage: pasta & veggie were perfectly cooked & tasty. - The gnocchi alla Gennaro, served with shrimp, asparagus and scallops in a cream sauce. Our daughter said could have more asparagus for her taste. But highest praise for the sauce as she usually does NOT like any cream or tomato based sauce, but this one was excellent. Scallops were standout too. - spiced Cornish hen, filleted, pan-roasted and served with escarole and cannelloni beans. Again delicious & well done in every sense. Desserts: - cream brulee with a nice layer of crisp caramalized brown sugar though the custard itself might be a bit too sweet. - mango mousse cake which was superb/light/flavorful/not too sweet. Though slightly disappointing it came plain with just a dusting of powdered sugar, would be nice to have a few fresh berries to garnish. We hope to go back to this excellent restaurant! read more

This is one of those restaurants that lives up to its negative reviews. It is very loud, there are tables everywhere so the place lacks flow or atmosphere. I mean, can you at least put some fake trees out ? We had several different waiters, and none were attentive. They tried twice to serve us someone elses appetizer and did not know who received what dish when they served. That is rather inexcusable in a good restaurant. If you are going to send out a server with a thick Italian accent, at least tell him who gets what. Also, the food was pedestrian. I ordered the pollo alla cabrese. It turned out to be a piece of fried chicken with some salad greens on top. No flavor whatsoever, and no side dish or even a sprig of parsley. And the other review about how this place only serves brocolli and mashed as sides is spot on. Someone called this the Staples of italian food, and I can't deny that. I sat with 5 people and everything they had was something you could have made out of a box at home. The desert was an apple tart, which was basically apple pie filling from a can with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream. Seriously, at least serve large portions if you are going to serve the same thing I can get at a diner for a 1/3 the price. Very disappointing. This place has absolutely no charm and no frills. We called D'oro after receiving a cold shoulder at another restaurant and they made room for our party of 8 on a busy Saturday night. I'm so glad because we had an amazing meal with amazing service. Pasta dishes were cooked perfectly. Really one of the best meals I've had in this area. What started out as a sour evening turned around quickly thanks to this amazing restaurant. Will absolutely be back. And I'll be ordering that amazing Bucatini again. read more

Very average. I have been to this restaurant in the past and felt it was good. Tonight I had a seven o'clock reservation. When our table of six ordered, they were out of mahi-mahi which was a special so they substituted with another fish. They were out of the chicken special so that was substituted. I tried to order a veal dish on the menu but they could only do the dish with chicken. The calarmi appetaizer was fair. The veal meatball appetizer was cold. I suggested this restaurant to friends and it was embarrassing. Tonight was my last night eating at this restaurant and I am sure my friends will not recommend it to anyone. ) read more

D`Oro is extremely accommodating to all its patrons. I started going there for business lunches and have returned numerous times for dinner and even ordering for pick up. Sam does a phenomenal job overseeing his staff and is 100% attentive to his guest. I have tried a handful of items on the menu and each is better than the next. The salads are always fresh as are the entrees. The cooks do a great job with each meal they produce. You can tell this restaurant is very knowledgeable in its products and ingredients and continue to use nothing but the best. I highly recommend D`Oro!!! read more

We had our son's repast at D'Oro's and can't speak highly enough about Sam, his staff and the food. Sam was very accommodating and his staff was incredibly attentive to our guests. We had worked with Sam to have a set menu and accepted his appropriate suggestions on choices. The food was absolutely delicious - from the lightly battered calamari and superior eggplant roll-ups through the petite Italian pastries for dessert. Our guests raved about the salmon, the chicken marsala and the pasta (was vegetarian for our non-carnivore guests). Sam has done a terrific job updating the decor and bathrooms since he acquired the location. We used the entire space for the repast and it was a warm, intimate and welcoming atmosphere, which is just what we needed at such a sad time.
