Ugh. Yet another place that has a BIZARRE concept of what pakora is. For reference, I grew up in a town that is home to the largest Sikh parade in the world and a huge east indian population and grew up with some of the best indian food EVER. IDK how a couple places here in the PNW have just bastardized pakora so badly, but this is one of them. This is literally just battered and fried veggies. ZERO flavor, no spice whatsoever. And it had a temperature option on the app and I selected spicy even though i've never had that option before.......this was the most bland pakora I have ever had in my life. Not the worst, but the most flavorless. At least the worst pakora I've ever had, had flavor. To top it off, BOTH of the chutneys were massively offputting. Not just bad, but like...ewww. Can't even top the flavorless dough with whatever liquid this is that is trying to pass as chutney. The chicken korma is actually spicy like i ordered! But again, next to no flavor. Insane. The chicken is nicely cooked but there's so little of it it's embarrassing for the cost of this dish which is unholy. I won't be ordering again. read more

We went to this place for dinner as a group of 4. The service was pretty prompt and the food was quick to come out as well. We got salty lassi which was pretty legit, mango lassi, lemonade, aloo tikki chaat which was okay, malai chicken tikka, the chicken of which was over done but the marinade was good. Chicken biryani was okay, chicken jalfarezi which was spicy and good, lamb curry the lamb of which lamb was very soft and tender. Tandoori shrimp was our last dish to clean up all the curries and that was pretty good too. All in all a good place for North Indian food, good clean ingredients for sure. read more

Save your money & go elsewhere. We walked in the front door & really loved the ambiance of this place. The lighting is good & the booths looked comfortable. Upon them telling us our table, we requested to sit at one of the larger booths along the wall as we were the only customers inside (2pm on a Friday). The lady said no, those were for reservations. So we sat down. When picking a beverage, I wanted to try the two types of pinot Grigio they had & they refused to give me a small taster. So I just decided to stick w/ water. Now to the worst part- the food. This was the most disgusting lamb masala I've ever eaten. The lamb was not tender, the masala tasted funny & it was $24 for a VERY small cup. I went here with a friend and had a good time. The interior still feels very much like the old Mexican place it used to be. I was surprised with how fresh the food was and the time we went that they weren't more busy. The dishes we shared were delicious and I highly recommend the naan. The prices are a bit high for what you get. The parking leaves a lot to be desired location wise, but it wasn't a problem given the lack of customers when we went (dinner on a Thursday night). We were one of maybe three tables at prime dinner time? It's nice to have another Indian place after our main one burnt down/closed. read more

We almost decided to leave, but the waitress was sweet and attentive. I can't express how glad we are that we stayed. The food here was absolutely delicious! I definitely would recommend to go check it out! We started off with the flavored lemonades; watermelon and mango, which were tasty and not overly sweet. It's definitely best to eat family style, we ordered a bunch of different plates and shared. Their butter chicken was exceptional! The mixed biryani was so flavorful and came with a yogurt sauce that was so good. I had never tried the madras curry before, but I'm glad I did because I'm definitely adding it to my list of favorite curries. The lamb vindaloo was good and tangy, but not my favorite dish. Our server was friendly and attentive and the restaurant was very cozy. Just a heads up we got everything medium spicy, and it was pretty spicy which I loved, but if you're not into spicy, I would recommend getting mild! The repurposed Las Flames Mexican restaurant is now an Indian established. We tried a couple of the flavored Naan breads, I think I'll settled for the traditional next time. I wanted to try goat, having heard it's praises on several food shows. I think the curry was the most flavorful of the three on the table and when I could find bits of meat, usually still attached to the bone, it was very good. It was disappointing to have so little actual meat in the midst of am the bone bits. The chicken vindaloo wasn't bad, if a bit dry. The veggie curry with chickpeas and dal was very tasty. A new find close to our neighborhood. Service was outstanding and prompt taking our order. The server was very attentive even though it was a busy night for her. We ordered Lamb Briani and Chicken Sag with a side of cauliflower Nan. Let's just say we had enough food for 4 people easily. The dishes were spicy and very tasty. I will order these entrees again. We have been to many Indian restaurants both in Orange County CA and Phoenix, AZ . I would say this restaurant is on par with what we have experienced. We will comeback again. The garlic naan was cold and stale. There's no way it was cooked fresh. We ordered Togo on a Friday night at 5:30 pm and I don't think anyone was in the restaurant. Fantastic I Somosa chaat tandoori and kabobs butter chicken all great in an old Mexican restaurant but love this spice so much more.

Think we just found our favorite Indian restaurant in Vancouver. The food was freshly made with Nan bread. I hope the level of food quality remains as this new restaurant finds its groove serving its guests. Mild spicy was perfect for me wasn't to powerful and could taste the flavors of this dish. The ambience is still very previous restaurant style but it is a brick building making it hard to redecorate. read more

Best indian food in Vancouver! Been waiting for a spot like this. Try the Pani Puri - super delicious and fun appetizer. All of the Naan was fresh too. We had Palak Paneer and Lamb Vindaloo. The temperature was super hot, which is great because we like our food to come out steaming! Both dishes we got medium because we were unsure of the spice level. If you like spicy, actually order spicy! Medium was very mild here. Still super delicious and you can tell the spices they use are in perfect proportion. It's been hard to find a place with pani puri that tastes authentic but daawat did it right! Love how tangy the sauce is, most places make it too sweet. The butter chicken was also a favorite. We didn't care for the tikka masala which was surprising because it's my husbands favorite but the bell peppers threw us off. We were excited to try an Indian restaurant in the area we hadn't been to before, but what a disappointment. I honestly don't know how this place has any 5-star reviews. Every single dish we ordered was overwhelmingly salty--so much so that it was difficult to enjoy any of them. The biggest issue, however, was with the Haryali Kebab (chicken). The marinade was dyed a neon green-blue color that made the food look completely inedible. Natural marinades don't look electric blue, and it was so unappetizing that we couldn't bring ourselves to eat it. I even called the restaurant to explain that the dish was inedible, but the person who answered said he couldn't do anything and that the owner would call me back. That was five days ago, and I've never heard from anyone. If I had, I would have told them about the other salty dishes too and how disappointing it was to waste $91.72 on food we couldn't enjoy. Also, we ordered a Gajar Halwa and was told they were out, but they could not refund us because the owner wasn't there and had to pick something else from the menu - I did not want anything else but they could not refund my money for the item. Just had a delicious dinner with friends. After reading comments here we knew to order a little more heat than we would normally, so we went with #7 heat. It was perfect! We had Butter Chicken, Palak Paneer, Chicken Vindaloo and Goat Jalfrezi. We added coconut and garlic naan and some had a mango lassi. We enjoyed everything. The most unique thing was the coconut naan when wasn't sweet but the coconut complimented the curry's. So good! The building is an old Mexican restaurant and it shows, but who cares? Our server was really sweet and helpful. We grilled him about the spice levels and he was very gracious. The only down side, and the reason I give them 4 stars is that the meat was quite sparse in all the curries/ barely noticeable bough for each of us to have one or two bites. The baingan bharta was just okay, and the chicken vindaloo was very disappointing. It's supposed to be a spicy vinegar and tomato based sauce, but it was mild and made with coconut. I've never had Indian curry with coconut. I hate coconut milk, so I never would have ordered this had I known it was in there. And like I said, it wasn't spicy at all. First ever Indian food experience and can I just say wow?! That wouldn't do it anywhere near the justice it deserves. My bf and I came here on a rec from his dad, and this is by far one of the tastiest things I've ever eaten in my whole life. My bf has had Indian food many times around the world and would say it goes among the best of the best. We chose to eat outside in the nice weather. We got a medium spicy chicken tikka masala and medium spicy lamb vindaloo that melted our taste buds in the best way. We have a high spice tolerance and found it spicy but not overly so. If you're more sensitive to spice dial it back to mild or not spicy. I think if we went hot we might have gotten a challenge. Very homly but decadent styled restaurant at the same time if you can imagine that. The smells make it that much more amazing (drool).
