If you have prior experience of Korean BBQ (in Korea or Ktown/LA) then do yourself a favor and skip this place. To save you time, I'll just say that this place would not last 8 weeks if it was opened in LA. Okay if you must know here is a summary of my experience, - no ventilation: you'll smell just like the smoke/grease that fills this place - Banchan: barebone and most of them weren't pickled or seasoned while kimchi tasted like straight out of a jar you'd buy from grocery store - too sharp/sour - Haemul pajeon: very little haemul (seafood) and the slice of imitation crab doesn't count - Galbitang: decent portion but the soup lack depth, it can use few more hours of simmering in beef bones - Brisket: AYCE quality even when you order a la carte, plain old frozen wholesale beef - LA Galbi: this is not LA Galbi. in LA, it's served Wang Galbi (King cut) with much better grade of short rib and the marinate is sweeter. this is just your stereotypical beef short rib in soy sauce. The list goes on - doesn't have rice paper, brown rice, or dipping sauce for galbi tang. the wait staff seems surprised when I asked about these items. they actually expected you to use American BBQ sauce instead of salt and sesame oil... plus the grill was not hot enough. probably because they worried that if anything is burned there's absolutely no escape of the smoke. the grill has not exhaust hood of any sort. The sundubu jjigae was probably one of the safest item we had, comparable to food court quality. read more

DAE GEE is more of an americanized Korean restaurant IMO. Service is acceptable and restaurant cleanliness is up to par. Food is okay. My personal favorite here is the seafood pancake. It was surprisingly good and the sauce went really well with it. The galbee and tofu soup is pretty good here and something I would order again. The only food I didn't like is the pork belly. OMFG! This place is amazing. I've been eating Korean food for decades and usually the problem with Korean food in Colorado is it has a decidedly honky spin... well not this place. Bee Bim Bhop was incredible... egg was runny in the middle giving the right sauce component. The rice was crispy on bottom and sticky on top and the beef was perfect. The sides of assorted Kimchi and vegi was excellent. When I complimented the chef I was told that it's mom in the kitchen... I could tell. Went in for Korean bbq and got food poisoning right after. Meat was not fresh, and I do not recommend coming here

After the other DAE GEE location turned us away and refused to honor our Yelp waitlist reservation spot, they made us a reservation for this location and told us we'd get right in. So we Uber here (again) and then stand around in line waiting to check in because NO ONE is working the incoming line. Then, 10 mins later when someone finally pays attention to us, they tell us that it's going to be another 20 minutes beyond our reservation time. Maybe it's because I'm hangry, but these restaurants really need to get their act together or they should hurry up and go under so someone who actually knows good service can open up. read more

My girlfriend and I just visited this spot last night for the first time. We have never had Korean food before and as we live just down the block from DaeGee, we decided to visit. Cons: No BBQ grills YET. If you don't have an RSVP on a Friday night, be ready for a 10-20min wait as this place gets PACKED. Super popular and you can tell that the locals are loving it. Pros: Although we were bummed about the wait time for a table, the service was amazing. The bartender invited us to the bar instead of waiting 20 minutes and was very knowledgeable about the menu. Charles made us some really amazing cocktails and went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of! You could really tell that he was passionate about sharing his culture with us and explained what a lot of the menu items were. Several of the other servers stopped by and thoroughly explained all the food items and made some great recommendations (the LA Galbee is awesome!). Great food. I love the Dae Gee in Westminster, so this place was a bit of a disappointment. I'll let it slide since they just opened. Here are my issues: 1. Took about 5 minutes for anybody to acknowledge we were waiting by the front door...although servers get walking by and smiling. 2. They DO NOT have all you can eat, so I paid nearly the same price for a small portion of bulgogi as all you can eat in Westminster. 3. THIS IS NOT DIY KBBQ. THEY COOK EVERYTHING IN THE KITCHEN AND SERVE IT TO YOU IN TINY PORTIONS. We went in, were seated, and told the waitress we wanted the All you can eat option. Waited a while, and instead of bringing out a grill, she brought out a plate with a few slices of Cooked brisket. Literally maybe like 5 slices of brisket. Are you kidding me? (see picture). I asked the waitress why we don't have a grill to cook it ourselves. The response was "Our grills have a problem right now." Really? You can't tell me that before we order? You have grills built into the tables. The entire point of kbbq is to cook and drink and eat with friends, it's an interactive experience. If a major part of the incentive of kbbq is not available, Shouldn't you tell your customers up front? Not only that, but if you are having problems with some grills, and your business OPERATES on grills, can't you run out to a market and just buy the tabletop propane grills? Those are a super inexpensive way to keep the business running. So given all that, the excuse seems very flimsy. Also, I felt pretty deceived. (Another note. It appears from other yelp reviews that this has been their "excuse" for over a year now. I think they just do not allow true diy kbbq style grilling, period, while pretending their grills are broken.) We had to wait like 10-15 minutes between each order of tiny servings of meat to come out of the kitchen, because every table's orders had to be cooked in the kitchen and served. We couldn't cook it to the way we liked it. We couldn't get the turnaround we wanted. In the end we basically got full off the rice and side dishes, before we could get enough of the actual korean bbq meats. Not only that, they only have 5 types of meats to choose from. It may not be Korea Town in Chicago, but Dae Gee provided the best Korean food I've had in a long time (it's slim pickings in Denver). I've been meaning to check this place out for months and was finally able to grab lunch with a friend. The lunch specials are reasonably priced ($8-10) and so are the drinks. The "Mulefoots" is a Moscow Mule twist made with a Korean alcohol. It was tasty and refreshing. We ordered pork bulgogi & a Bee Bim Bhop to share. Our meal started with complementary Korean starters, which I greatly appreciate they serve! The kimchi was spot on, the dried seaweed was crunchy perfection, and the fish cakes were yummy! Our Bee Bim Bhop came in a metal bowl, which surprised me a little, and I later realized you have to order the hot stone version seperately (the stone is totally worth it!) The vegetables in the Bee Bim Bhop were fresh and perfectly cooked, the beef was delicious, and the only advice I would give is...if you want a runny egg, say so, as ours was over medium (a little too cooked for my liking in a Bee Bim Bho). The sauce for the Bulgogi was wonderful, they nailed the flavor and the meat itself was very tender. I will never go back to this location. The staff here is too busy socializing with each other (though they are very nice.) to care about customers. What really irritated me was the prices vs the portions. Living in Aurora and being surrounded by great korean barbecue at a reasonable price it seemed ludicrous to me that I paid what I would normally pay in aurora to be served HALF the portion I would receive in Aurora at any number of restaurants. There is really nothing special about this Korean bbq joint. While the flavoring of their meats is delicious, the authenticity, ambience, and service is nothing to speak highly of. Their "unlimited" is not truly unlimited in the sense that you only receive one galbee short rib order per person. Obviously, the best meat is limited unless you want to pay $10 more. We went on a Friday night and it was not crowded (so that says something). They have Guy Fieri's diners, drive ins and dives running non stop on their tv. I guess he had done a special on dae gee at some point. I found this aspect to be incredibly tacky - don't even get me started on when the wait staff started shouting and applauding when the episode where he reviewed them came on... that must be their nightly schtick. I had a great experience and the food was awesome. Reading through a couple of the recent reviews I feel like those folks went to a different place completely. I sat at the bar as I was a party of 1 but all of the staff made time to chat with me about the food, beer, and best combination. One of the guys even talked to me about the best pairing of the sides with the main dish. I had the dumplings to start out and they were amazing, the sauce was spot on. I tried the spicy pork for dinner on the dinner BBQ menu it was good also and is a ton of food (if you had an app also). They have a full bar as well. It took too long to cook the meal using the grill on the table, and they were reluctant (to say the least) to bring out more meat as we requested it, even though this was an all you can grill meal. All said and done each of our guests were lucky to get 4 OZ of cooked meat, and we were there for almost 2-hours. I felt guilty so I ordered (2) dinner portions of BBQ ribs, in addition to the all you can grill stuff, the ribs were great, but again, maybe 4 OZ of edible meat per platter. The side veggies were ok, but nothing to get excited about. Nothing else came with the "all you can grill", so...I also ordered soup for everyone...really????? They can't throw in a bowl of soup??? I felt like I was in a Charles Dickens movie...."can I have some more porridge sir??"... Oh...did I mention the waitress?? Very bad attitude...I'm sure she was delaying our request for more meat, hoping we would leave...after all we must have had a pound of meat between the five of us!! I didn't LOVE this place, but I think I need to go back for another round. We were a party of 6 and my husband and I were super excited to do the unlimited bbq. I forgot that the whole table has to do it, which I get but it's annoying. We started with chicken dumplings and the zucchini pancake. The pancake was really good. So we ordered the squid, brisket, short rib, shrimp, pork, and the beef bulgogi. We decided not to cook our own food as I would likely be wearing it all since I was sitting closest to the grill. As such the squid was overcooked but the sauce it was in was amazing. My husband thinks it was cooked perfectly, but they bring it out still cooking effectively and that might have been it's undoing. The brisket was fatty in a not delicious way. It was also tough. The short rib too was fatty. The shrimp wasn't shared. The pork and beef bulgogi were the winners for sure. I'd also like to go back for the bee bim bhop. My husband and I had Passports, which we've never had a problem using, but here for some reason, while our waiter accommodated us, it wasn't before telling us that they usually don't take two passports on the same check. Again, I've never had a problem with using them. Perhaps they shouldn't do the passports next year then. It was only for draft beers, not even fancy cocktails, but whatever. read more

Wow - we used to go to Seoul BBQ but they got too sweet and Americanized :( Having been to Korea many times and being married to a Korean, this food rocks! I love that they're not afraid of the heat and bring way more authentic Korean favors to the table (literally). The servers are super personable and they have Colorado vodka!!!!! Probably one of the worst Korean Barbeque experiences I have had to date. Went here in a party of 4 for dinner. Looked at the menu and decided we wanted to try a variety of options. Went with the "Unlimited Barbeque," which came with brisket, pork belly, pork bulgogi, chicken bulgogi, beef bulgogi, and LA kalbi, all for $21 per person. Sounds great, right? We were sadly mistaken. The brisket and pork belly come out first on a small hot plate. I expected to be able to barbeque at the table, but was only mildly disappointed in that (it would have been nice to know that we weren't able to be doing that ahead of time). For four people, I thought it looked like a small amount of food, but figured that we could just order more when we finished. That time never came, however, because the brisket was super dry and the pork belly was very oily. Half of the small portion of food was left on the plate as we eagerly awaited the next. We received two plates at the same time - one with chicken and pork bulgogi and the other with beef bulgogi and LA kalbi. Both plates were incredibly small for four people. No matter - we can always order more. The chicken bulgogi tasted like grilled chicken - not good, but not bad. The pork bulgogi was a little chewy and tasted off. The beef bulgogi was a little fatty and marginal. The LA kalbi was pretty good. There were two major problems, however. The first was that there were literally 10 bones for the kalbi. Not ten of the traditional 3-piece kalbi cut. 10 total bones, total. But it's unlimited barbeque you say? Well, unfortunately for us, the kalbi is not unlimited. You get one order and can pay for more. This is disclosed on the menu and would be fair IF they actually gave an acceptable amount with the order. As the rest of the dishes were marginal, we asked about getting more kalbi. The waitress says, "$5.25 extra." Ok, same price as on the menu. "Per person," she adds. What? Huh? Another $21 for 10 kalbi bones? Gonna have to pass on that. Let's just order more beef bulgogi then. "You have to finish everything before ordering more." Huh? What? Even this terrible brisket and oily pork belly? I ask for a menu, point out that it doesn't mention that anywhere on it. At that point, I guess we ate enough for more. The second round of beef bulgogi comes out lukewarm and we decide that it's time to go. This reads like the rantings of a mad man, true enough. But heed my warnings. If you choose to eat here, do not get the unlimited barbeque. Or the brisket. Or anything other than the kalbi. On second thought, just do yourself a favor and go to Seoul BBQ on Havana. read more

I was at the soft opening a few nights ago. After travelling to Seoul recently I've been wanting some good Korean food, and this definitely hit the spot. Dae Gee is different than most Korean restaurants in America. I'm used to walking into a small family-run shop, where the family hardly speaks English but makes amazing food. This place is different. It feels polished, professional, and welcoming, yet the food is still authentic and delicious. Best of both worlds. I had some amazing Bibimbap in a stone bowl. It was cooked quickly, and the service was on-point. I also bought a bottle of their Gochujang (Korean chili sauce) because it was so delicious. Beats Sriracha every time. A couple friends of ours who live in Colorado took my wife and I out to eat Korean food. And if there is anything missing culturally in Denver, it must be Asian cuisine. Of high, authentic quality of course. Yet, as it custom with most restaurants, whatever Guy Fieri touches must be gold, regardless of how ethnically traditional it is. I say that sarcastically, but most of his formerly diners, drive-ins, and dives are worth a visit. This establishment was not offering AYCE on our recent trip, but overall their menu lists an abundance of affordable options. Plus, your meal comes with the usual 40 small plates boasting more tame options such as bean sprouts to the funkier preserved cabbage AKA kimchi. The soups, rice bowls, and BBQ are what you expect. Strong in flavor, simple in ingredients, and light in body. You leave here feeling satisfied but not stuffed to the brim. But, do come back when their AYCE is back in action... The food is hefty (think Thanksgiving dinner) and delicious. The place is modern and they have it all packaged up right for mass expansion over the known universe. If you have kids, take them there and show them the staff. Say "This is what work looks like. These people have hustle." This was our first time at a Korean BBQ like this. Totally fun and absolutely delicious. Cook your own meats and make lettuce wraps with a dozen Korean sides. Includes kimchi, fish cakes, pancakes, sprouts, potato salad, etc. The L. A. Galbee (beef spare ribs) were the best part, but all of it was great. We took our 5 + 6 year old boys. Wow! I'm relatively new to Korean BBQ, but if Dae Gee always does it as well as my lunch today, it won't be long before the staff knows me by name here. I ordered the Man Doo Gook soup, and I loved it. For those of you new to Korean cuisine, think wonton soup but with more veggies and a more complex and delicious flavor. The Pork Bulgogi was excellent! It was the perfect amount of spicy: it had a bit of a kick to it without drowning out the rest of the taste. My friend ordered the Bee Bim Bhop, and I got a chance to try a bit myself. It was delicious, and even though I can't really describe it well, I know it'll be the next item I try. They also bring out tons of veggies in little bowls: kimchee cabbage and bean sprouts, zucchini pancakes, potato salad (more like mashed potatoes), and so on. And the staff is more than happy to bring out more. The end result is that you've had a humongous lunch at a very fair price (I would've thought $20 fair, but my share of the tab only came to $12 and change before tip. Our server, Tamara, was very friendly and outgoing. Another server (I didn't catch his name) was also very friendly. I think that a restaurant's staff is just as important, maybe more important, than the food itself, and in this area, Dae Gee does very well. Service was great and meat quality was pretty good... but unfortunately Korean BBQ is more than just those two things. Something was just lacking and for the price... I just expect a bit more. The side dishes were not that great and there were lots of components that were missing (ie stew option in your all you can eat) for $24 pp that is just a must imo. Usually you get some sesame oil, garlic, and peppers on the side but did not get any of those either. If a restaurant played Korean BBQ dress up, you would get Dae Gee Korean BBQ. My brother and his wife taught english in South Korea for a year. I was never able to visit them, but they always talk about Korean BBQ and have wanted to take my folks and I out forever. Well the whole family was out here just after the new year and we were able to squeeze the six of us in for dinner on a Tuesday night. I really had no idea what to expect and can say I was very satisfied. We all opted for the all you can eat option, and I can't understand why you would go for anything else. You can order as many of the side dishes as you like, and refills on all the meats except the steak I believe. For the six of us we had two grills going and I think I ate continually for about 45 minutes. Was totally worth it and I can't believe I waited so long to try this out. Finally a Korean restaurant down the street! It always felt like a journey to find decent Korean meals. This restaurant already seems to be attracting more than just your usual Koreans which is great to see. Everyone should be eating Korean BBQ! The restaurant is spacious and has great service which is rare for Korean restaurants. The servers were all very friendly and attentive. I was impressed. The food was delicious as well. We had the LA galbi (Korean short ribs) and yook gae jang which is a spicy beef soup. Both were full of flavor. The side dishes were small but I know you can always ask for more.
