Dae Gee has another restaurant in Arvada/Westminster and I'm so glad to have one so close. Walking in, you are instantly greeted by the booming of the Korean pop music. Make sure to call ahead if you are going in a big group. This place barely opened but was almost packed on a Wednesday night! Currently, they don't have the BBQ grills at the tables so whatever you order is cooked then brought out to you on a hot grill. The seafood pancake was a delicious start to our meal. Unfortunately they do not have unlimited BBQ right now but we proceeded to order the beef short ribs, pork and beef bulbogi, and pork short ribs. I feel compelled to express my utter disappointment from the poor service I received today at Dae Gee Korean Restaurant. Victoria rushed with my order as if the restaurant was completely full during lunch hour while it was not. Only 8 people were having lunch with 2 servers. I took notice of how much more time and the manner in which other parties were treated with smiles of which I did not receive. I was patronized by another younger waitress in regards to Korean cuisine for a particular dish my mother cooked in my childhood. I am very familiar with Korean cuisine having not only being born in Seoul, Korea; yet also being raised on Korean cuisine all my life. When I mentioned my dismay of the service I received, Victoria not only denied how poorly she treated me, she also accepted no responsibility for her poor behavior. She raised her voice at me in front of the other parties and threatened to leave me a bad review where I work (I wore work scrubs) when I am a doctorate level medical professional who serves patients with every fiber of my being with love and compassion. She treated me "less than" without any hesitation. I simply stated, I'm not satisfied with my meal and how I am being treated. Perhaps it would taste better if I didn't feel as such." She replied with, "Maybe you should come back on Sunday and try a different cook." I wanted great service then and did not want to come back on a particular day. Great service should be given everyday. I even took it upon myself to leave some form of a tip and she stated, "Your tip is not welcome and not worth anything." I didn't see any of the promised clear noodles, but I only ate about half so maybe they're at the bottom. There was a lot of big pieces of kimchee, so big they wouldn't fit on my soup spoon. The broth is tasty. They did supply a bunch of sticky rice though. You get a bunch of different vegetable pickles. I couldn't identify one of them - it seemed like it was maybe a sweetened butter or something very smooth and sweet. (please send me a msg to what it is if you know) I put some rice on a separate plate and put some of each pickle and juice on the rice. Everything was pretty good, and for $12 it's a good lunch meal. Dae Gee was pretty good for Korean BBQ! My boyfriend and I had a bit of a wait even though there were open grill tables, but it was only about 10-15 minutes or so. Our server came over right away and asked if we were familiar with how the all you can eat worked. We'd never been there so she explained everything clearly for us. They bring out each of the 6 meats for all you can eat and then you can order more after you finish the first round. They do charge for uneaten meat portions and they give you unlimited banchan. The grill table we had was uncomfortably close to another table, so close that I had to move to sit next to my boyfriend because I couldn't even get into the chair across from him. (This may have had something to do with the guy sitting at the table by us who made no attempt to move at all.) We had a grill table without an exhaust hood, so we ended up getting pretty smoky by the end. The first round comes with brisket, pork belly, kalbi, chicken bulgogi, spicy pork and beef bulgogi. The banchan included kimchi, radish, potato salad, broccoli and fake crab, crunchy sweet seaweed, fish cake, and maybe a couple others. They also give you lettuce wraps. My favorite was the beef bulgogi which was the only thing we got more of. It would have been nice to have some seafood options. Every entree comes with 8 side dishes that are unlimited. They include a traditional kimchi, cucumber kimchi, fish cakes, broccoli with crab, Chile's with beef, potato salad, sprouts and another type of potato cake. My waiter Adam recommended the bim bop in the hot stone pot as it cooks the meal. If I could give this place zero stars I would! If you want Korean BBQ, please do NOT go here! Take the time to research other locations, a mistake that I have now learned from. I've been to plenty of Korean BBQ places before in California - all of which had employees treating guests like being on a first-class experience on a plane - so I had high expectations for this location as well. This was my fiance's first time ever trying Korean BBQ, so I wanted the experience for him to be fun and something for both of us to enjoy our time eating delicious food. We went here recently and to our disappointment, it was the worst experience I have ever had! I called ahead since I wanted to make sure it wouldn't be a long wait-time and the guy who answered the phone said it would be a "less than 5-minute wait for two people since we aren't really busy right now." Upon arrival, none of the employees greeted us at all! No "welcome in" or "we will be right with you!" There were probably only four or five people working - a bartender who was also a server, two other people who we saw cleaning tables and taking drinks to customers, and probably a few people in the kitchen. We sat and waited for probably 30 minutes before making the decision to try and leave. By that time, finally, the bartender came over to us and asked if we wanted a regular table or a grill table. We said we wanted a grill table and again had to wait another 5 minutes while they cleaned and set up our table for us before we got seated. The waiter didn't ask us if we wanted anything besides water, he just brought us waters without asking. He then quickly explained the menu to us and left since we needed some extra time to decide. The all you can eat option for $30 per person seemed like a good deal but I would much rather go to any other location then go back here again. The only plus to that deal was the unlimited variety of extra side dishes that I've never gotten from any other Korean BBQ place before. The food was definitely delicious, we got beef bulgogi, spicy bulgogi, pork, and chicken. The food took a while to get to us so again we had to sit and wait for a really long time. That's not normal for any Korean BBQ place at all. Once you order, the food should come to your table in 1 - 2 minutes max! The service, however, was by far the worst! Our waiter never came to see how everything was tasting, he didn't see if we needed extra water or if we wanted to order anything else. Halfway through our meal, we ended up having to get the attention of another employee who was cleaning a table to order some more meats. He left to the kitchen and never came back with our requests. Upset and frustrated at this point, we got the attention of the bartender after he finished helping another table to order more side dishes and meats. He said that they would have to charge us extra if we didn't finish everything because they were closing soon. We said that's fine and he left to go get the food for us. When we finally saw our original waiter, he was returning from the restroom talking to another employee and didn't acknowledge our presence at all. The bartender returned a few minutes later with the side dishes and meats we asked for and then left to help other customers. The pictures I included in this review show the burnt grill top which is something that should NOT happen at any Korean BBQ place you go to. Employees should change out the grill top when they see it getting burnt up, black, and hard to cook meats on. None of the employees at this location kept up with that at all! My fiance and I had a really difficult time cooking our meats towards the end of our dinner due to this and we were both really frustrated by how unprofessional all the employees were acting on the job. I understand that they might have been short staffed so they didn't have time to help everyone in a quick manner but that does not give them the right to straight-up ignore or not check on their customers. We wanted to just get up and leave because of how bad the service was. When the check finally came we didn't want to leave a tip because tips are based on how good the customer service is and from what we went through, it was awful customer service. We paid the bill without a tip and left as quickly as we could since we didn't want to deal with them anymore. A few days later, my fiance gets two strange charges to his account and asks me if I had purchased anything recently - which I never had. We did some investigating and find out that his credit card info had been stolen by one of the employees - just because they wanted their tips from us. Extremely unprofessional! My fiance had to spend weeks calling his credit card company to report credit card fraud and get refunded the money they stole from us. I just recently went to this location and let me tell you.. it was by far the best experience I've ever had. Food was delicious, restaurant was nice and clean, and service was excellent. My husband and I had the pleasure of having Ash as our waitress. She was super nice and friendly, always had a smile on her face, and was on top of everything. Could've nixed the bulgogi. Underwhelming. The mackerel and galbi were both bomb. No five because although it came with sides, it did not come with salad or lettuce leaves for our meat. Kind of makes no sense if you want a traditional experience in a modern place. They get four because for lunch the prices were good and they serve bidimbop but only for dinner. This place was definitely not a diner, nor a drive in but it is definitely taking a downhill dive as the worst Korean BBQ place I've ever been to. Do not spend your time or money here, you will be very disappointed. First, the service was awful. They were understaffed and generally rude. We had to wait a good 15 min to get waters to our table after we were seated. We ordered the unlimited/all you can eat BBQ and when the food finally did arrive (which also took longer than usual) no one explained to us what the different types of meats were and we were left guessing. Second, I gave the restaurant 2 stars solely because the food wasn't terrible. Everything was just ok but the meat was very fatty and definitely lacked flavor. This is like baby Hibachi style, Beef bulgogi, squid and pork. Only Korean. I loved the all you can eat sample of BBQ styled dish. My first bite of the beef was very roasted and chewy. Super hot, so be careful. It made me feel super hearty, and loved the taste. We also had small vegetable bowls with shrimp and the squid. I think it's so much fun to see it come to life as it's sizzling on that baby grill. I think this is a good first beginners Korean BBQ place. I love the style-- no exception!!!!! Wow. The only time I have been more disappointed was when I found out my ex-wife was cheating. I ordered carry out, ribs and scallops. The ribs and scallops were flavored fine, not amazing but fine. The issue is that for two entrees we got two ounces of each condiment. So we basically a table spoon for each entree. Korean BBQ is a treat because of the condiments. The meat is basic without the condiments. I weighed my scallops and at 4 oz. For nearly $30...that too was underwhelming. Haven't been to this location but did that night and it was great like any other dae gee locations. So this awesome place features grills built into the tables for every group of two to four people -- and you have a plethora of incredibly tasty meats to grill -- pork belly, specially seasoned pork, rib-eye beef, chicken and brisket -- and it's served with all kinds of tasty side items like kimchee, fish cakes, veggies, potato salad -- to complement the grilled meat extravaganza, as well as leaf lettuce and bean paste to make wraps if you want. Our family's first time at a Korean BBQ joint some I have nothing to compare it to but we all really enjoyed it. We came in mid afternoon on Sunday and the place was about 25% full. The staff was super helpful and patient while I asked a million questions. Since we had no idea what to order our family chose the unlimited BBQ that came with 5-6 meats and 8-9 sides. We tried everything and then we're able to just get more of the ones we liked the best. All the marinated meats were our favorites. I loved the Korean salad side dish and the fish cake sides. You can order as much as you can eat but we were stuffed after 3 rounds of sides, and 3 more individual meats. Cooking the meat ourselves was fun and made for a less hurried meal. No offense, but if you have never had Korean BBQ and know nothing about Korean/Asian cooking in general you might find this place good. I'm my opinion the flavors were diluted and the meat was extremely fatty and stringy. When the ban chan came out I started laughing because the portions were so so so tiny! The potato salad was maybe a table spoon and I'm not exaggerating at all (I should have taken a picture). The service was friendly but they were very much in a hurry and didn't speak to us often. Weird thing I noticed, but do women work here? Every single employee was a guy! If you are a fan of Korean food this place will deeply disappoint you and if you have never had Korean food - this isn't what it should be like! read more
