Great little spot for sushi lovers! Same simple menu and quick service that I have come to love and expect at Daigo's Dekalb Market location, but here you have the option of cut rolls and rice cups in addition to the hand rolls. The space indoors is small, just two tables, but I noticed that the restaurant stayed quite busy with takeout and delivery orders during dinner hours. I have tried the cut rolls and the hand rolls and have made up my mind that the hand rolls are definitely still the way to go. You can't go wrong with toro (fatty tuna), seared salmon or the eel/avocado hand rolls and washing it all down with One Cup Ozeki sake. The prices are quite reasonable given the impressive quality and freshness, but their lunch special is also not to be missed: 2-roll ($12) or 3-roll ($17.45) orders come with miso soup and are available Monday through Friday 12-3pm. Wish I had discovered this place earlier. There's one table to sit inside currently as the sushi bar itself is still blocked off for pandemic precautions. They have some tall tables outside. We sat in. You order on paper, they give you two colored pens one color to indicate hand rolls and the other to indicate if you want cut rolls. They also offer sushi cups if you prefer to have your meal chirashi style. Rolls are around $6-$8 each. Soo worth it. They stuff their hand rolls with a lot of filling. The ingredients are fresh and their service was fast. The cut rolls look like they have less rice, but hard to compare. I tried their spicy tuna, salmon, toro, scallop, and yellowtail. All were excellent, the scallop is paired with a yuzu Kosho which surprisingly made the rice pretty spicy, a surprise when I had this one. They get a lot of takeout orders it seems like. A bit awkward to sit inside since you are the only party, but whether you're ordering takeout or sitting in, definitely worth it. One of the best hand roll spots in the city in my opinion. read more

Just got shrimp tempura hand roll which is not fried but include a shrimp, spicy Mayo sauce, eel sauce, crunch, and forgo cucumber for avocado for $8. My son enjoyed it a lot and tasted very fresh. I got the mackerel rice cup for $9. Wow the mackerel was very fresh and it sat beautifully in a cup of rice and diced cucumber and avocado. Presentation is gorgeous and every bite was special. The chefs seem very authentic Japanese so that is a big plus. It is a small place with seatings indoor including a sushi bar and limited seatings outdoor. Got some takeout from here today and was very impressed with the quality and taste. They got the ratio of rice to fish spot on and the seasoning in the rice was also just right. We got the seared salmon and toro handrolls. The seared salmon handroll was the star of the show. The salmon was so tasty and a bit fatty so it coated the rice with the fish oils and the yuzu kosho helped balance out the fattiness of the seared salmon. The toro was also good but would prefer the seared salmon over it. Also got several rolls; tuna koji, mackerel, yellowtail scallion and the Hokkaido scallop. Highly recommend the scallop - so fresh and had a sweetness to it. Mackerel was solid and the yellowtail and tuna were OK. Will def come back again, prices are reasonable for the quality and service was quick. read more

Daigo is exceptional. This is not a sushi restaurant you visit for an elaborate sit-down meal. The best way to go about a Daigo trip is to plop down on a seat at the bar, order 2-4 hand rolls depending on your hunger level, maybe get a one-cup Junmai sake if the mood strikes, all the while enjoying every second of the efficient experience. Skip the cut rolls as you can get those anywhere - the hand rolls are the specialty (hence the name). Of the specific menu options, Toro is my favorite with the Yellowtail Scallion being a close second, but you can't go wrong with any. Eventually I'll make my way through all of the fish (probably getting close already). The seaweed is crisp and delicious, rice done perfectly, and all the complements down to the wasabi are fresh. All in all, going to Daigo is one of my favorite food treats in the city. I am grateful to live close to it. read more

We ordered two rice bowls: one with toro and one with salmon avocado. They were small but had a nice balanced amount of fish and rice-- and absolutely delicious. Daigo is an absolute gem of a spot! We used to regularly frequent the Hand Roll Bar location at Dekalb Market, which quickly became one of our favorite sushi spots in NYC. Amazing quality of ingredients and staff that really care. Recently we had Daigo cater our small Brooklyn Wedding and they did an absolutely amazing job. The sushi was delicious (as always) but the presentation was dead on, no plastic containers and real attention to detail on the order. Quality: Daigo Sushi Roll Bar is on the pricier side, but definitely worth it. I was impressed with the high quality seafood items, the flavor, and the presentation. We ordered the Three Roll Lunch Special and selected Salmon Avocado, Tuna With Koji, and Hokkaido Scallop for our rolls. Each was very fresh and delicious, I was especially a fan of the juicy Hokkaido Scallop Roll. Additionally we each got a rice cup, I selected the Spicy Tuna Rice Cup and my fiance went with the Salmon Rice Cup. While the small container makes it a bit hard to get a full bite at the start, once you have a small hole, all the different components go together so well. Crowd: When I arrived one couple was sitting outside eating lunch, and one other individual was awaiting his take-out order. Service: They are extremely fast, my online order was ready in less than 15minutes. And I love the packaging they use for take-out orders. The toro is my favorite - it's so fresh and buttery melts in your mouth. Had both the handroll and cut roll and honestly there're both good. Daigo does not cheapen out on the amount of fish. There's not much space to eat in there but I recommend take out and eating it right away since the seaweed can get soggy.
