As a vegetarian with non veggie friends this is common place at many restaurants. The woman at the counter took our order with no problem. 20-30 mins later (place was packed so I'm not judging the wait) the woman looks in the container and takes it back to the kitchen. I've ordered from this diner through Seamless on two occasions and both resulted in being completely unsatisfied. The two times I ordered my food order was either wrong on something was forgotten. When I called to alert the restaurant my order was wrong or I hadn't received something I was meant was attitude over they're error. The delivery person had a nasty attitude upon returning. The turkey burger I ordered was nasty and dry as hell. I felt like I was eating cardboard. The lettuce was wilted, the tomatoes were mushy. The only saving grace were the French fries & pickle. It's hard to admit how much this place has gone downhill because it used to be one of my favorites. But after numerous shots at redemption, today was the last straw. Upon ordering a medium cheeseburger deluxe, as I have countless times from this place, I received a tiny overcooked burger with no cheese on it. Daisy's was the first place we ate at in Park Slope when we were viewing apartments nearby and after living here for almost a year we still come back at least once a month. And it's the first place we bring our friends and family to when they come to visit. The menu might seem daunting but I can honestly say I've never been disappointed in what I've ordered. I recommend the Baja Burger (made deluxe w/ cheese, lettuce, tomato, and fries) or the banana split. We walked up the block to the tiny little diner (or tiny little storefront, but the place is actually fairly deep and not at all small). I was tempted to order the lumberjack pancake deal (pancakes, eggs, meat, potatoes, toast) since I'm a huge pig and eat with my eyes all the time, but I reigned myself in and focused on pancakes exclusively. I came here with my best friend DB for an extremely late night bite out of pure insomnia. I know I can be objective because I wasn't drunk, high, or starving at 4:30 in the morning. DB had an omlette that looked gross. She was pretty happy about the abundance of pickles but had no words for the omlette except that the cheese tasted like it was probably canned whiz. I had a veggie burger which would have been fine if it was plain but i had guac and mushrooms on it. The mushrooms came out of a can- i mean I understand the recession and shit but charge me a dollar more and saute my fucking mushrooms damn it. I'm disappointed. I've been coming here on and off for almost 2 years now, and while it's possible my opinion has just been slowly jaded, I'm relatively sure this diner is really only alright. The food is fine, the prices are fine, the decor is fine. What gets to me the most? The staff. It's not that the servers aren't friendly (they aren't), or competent (they're so-so), or on top of their serving game (nope). It's that they are rude not only to customers, but to each other - and they aren't shy about it. There is one man in particular that I have consistently seen working there, and I have consistently watched the other servers treat him like garbage. He occasionally serves, but I have primarily seen him taking drink orders and busing tables, and all he gets is screamed out. I took my younger sister there for breakfast just a few weeks ago, and 4 different times, we watched the other servers call him slow, an idiot, and almost knock him over while running back and forth to the kitchen. The toast was made on challah which makes the best. But it was lackluster. No powdered sugar, it was a little charred on the edges and middle, and dry. Like they didn't soak it in the mixture. I'm a firm believer that French toast needs to be cooked in butter, this was some kind of margarine. And you even tasted the grill it was cooked on. One of the best parts of living in NYC is the amount of diners one has access to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. And Daisy's Diner is one of the finest diner establishment's I've ever had the happenstance to visit. What's the best thing they serve you ask? Disco Fries. Disco fries are French fries covered with melted American cheese and doused in gravy. They are a heart attack waiting to happen, but oh so yummy and delicious. The other best thing at Daisy's - they have Cherry pie. Good, olde fashioned, tastes like the cherry's came right out of the can, cherry pie. It does a body good. And the establishment itself warrants a holla. There is an old school, british-esque telephone booth right across from the dessert counter. I feel like I could go inside and call the Queen herself. And there are booths and a counter. You have to have these to be a real diner, and Daisy's does. Most importantly though, there is a fantastic wait staff. You can sit anywhere you want when you walk in (always an important piece of information to have) and when you sit you are immediately greeted with a menu and a request for your beverage order - something I appreciate. The waitresses are attentive without being annoying and the manager is always around with a smile on his face and the willingness to comp your meal should anything not go smoothly. After 2 and 1/2 years of going to Daisy's, they remember my name and are happy to see me (probably because I always over tip). Every civilized place has a 24-hour diner, and no, chain restaurants won't do. Don't be fooled by the tiny storefront or the neon signage - the diner is surprisingly spacious and the decor is sedate, unlike the display out front. Staff is friendly and courteous (suspiciously so? for New York). Had my breakfast usuals, all of of which was perfectly fine. Home fries were dry and under-seasoned, but easily amended with a little (a lot?) of salt and pepper. Sausage was deliciously greasy. And my omelet contained (fresh) whole leaf spinach! Don't always find that in pricey places, much less hole-in-the-wall diners. Acceptable food, professional and attentive staff, and great hours? Daisy's Diner has been around a long time. It was totally re-done over and they put a very cool phone booth with a pay phone in it for your convenience. 1. Breakfast special is good and reasonably priced. 2. Their split-pea soup, baked potatoes and breakfast and lunch specials are good. 3. Staff is friendly , professional and reasonably quick to serve. (It is slower during lunch hour). 4. There are booths and then a few tables and more booths in the back of the diner. 5. Centrally located right on Fifth Avenue and near the corner of Ninth Street in Brooklyn, close to all busses and trains. Parking is hard on the street, and there are meters; no free parking at all. 6. Their corn beef and cabbage is good. Worth trying. Down side? During the summer, when they leave one of the doors open, there is an entourage of flies inside the diner. Yes, I said inside the diner. So, summer dining is not the best and not recommended until they clear that problem up. Figure this, if the flies are at your table then they must be in the kitchen also. It is a shame because the food is good and the specials prices are good too. And the location is the best. I used to go there before and after work but quit going in when the flies joined me. How bad is the fly situation? Well, some of the customers mentioned it to the workers there but no one seemed to do anything. They explained, "when the door is open , the flies come in". That, to me is not a good explanation. There are other coffee shops in the area and restaurants and diners, and none of them have flies that I know of. Has anyone been there recently to see if they have evicted the flies , yet, or to see if their door remains closed now? Rating from one to ten? My girlfriend and I came back from DC and found ourselves stuck in the Great Christmas Blizzard of 2010. We made it all the way up to one of the few stations still open in Park Slope, but faced a daunting 4 block trek to our apartment in waist-deep snowdrifts and winds that felt like glass shards against our faces. We made it exactly one block before becoming exhausted and fearing death. I asked a passerby where there might be something open at this hour. Why, Daisy's Diner, of course! We stumbled in at 2am, 11 hours into our 16h saga, and were greeted by Donna, the awesome overnight waitress who gave us a spot to dry off and warm up, brought us the BEST chicken soup EVAR, and kept the life-sustaining coffee refills coming. A few hours later, we finally made it the final three blocks home and promptly dropped off to sleep. But not before saying a prayer for Daisy's, which truly saved our life! read more

Went in today for Saturday morning brunch. Started off by not being seated in a booth, even though we wanted to sit there. They were a bit dismissive and pointed at a table. I understand weekends can be busy, so I let it go. The booth was still empty when we left. Wait staff was pretty rude and didn't make eye contact. they also yelled at each other throughout the restaurant, it was pretty uncomfortable. I nearly got hit with a glass of water that a waitress spilled. The last straw came in for form of hair. Hair in the eggs, hair in the potatoes, and hair in the coffee for goodness sake. Based on other reviews, this seems pretty common I had to ask for refills on coffee and water after being ignored for a while, and when she did, she splashed water on my lap! I jumped, but she ignored it. Apart from the hair, my eggs and potatoes were fine. Coffee was pretty bad. I don't plan on returning for brunch. 5th ave diner is on the other side of 9th. I used to live upstairs from the diner, which was pretty glorious. This place is open 24 hours, which guaranteed that if I needed a snack, or if I forgot my keys, Daisy's could come to my rescue. This place is always good for a "scene" after hours, especially when other parts of the slope can get a bit too quiet. That said, I learned early that Daisy's should only be consumed when drunk.
