An astounding restaurant in this day and age, like a Time Machine to another era, the ambience of this establishment is world class, the service impeccably attentive and the food, well few places consistently match the quality of Dal Rae. We've dined here a few time and intend to do so many more. The Prime Rib is 10/10, no notes, not salty like so many places these days. My wife pronounced her Halibut order as the best she'd ever had and her baked potato as "delectable ". Their sides and appetizers are all great, we plan to go one time and just order a few sides and a salad (their vast salad selections are served HUGE, really enough for two). We had tuna sashimi on toast recently, it was a creative tasty dish, never had anything like it. The desserts are always a nice finish and the in-house valet always efficient. This was nearby the citadel where we were shopping so we decided to give this place a shot considering the high ratings. They have valet only parking available for $7 for dinner. We happened to come on their 72nd anniversary so the place was packed. The only option was the bar if we could find a spot. Luckily there was a couple that was finishing up so we waited for 5 minutes to be able to both sit. Getting a drink took 15 mins as ten bartenders were busy and they were understaffed. We opted for the pre- fix menu which offered their signature pepper steak. The meat was very tender and seasoned well. My sea bass was ok as I'm not a fan of Parmesan on sea bass a felt it overpowered the delicate fish. The ambiance is definitely retro as this per the locals we spoke with they didn't change anything since opening. I enjoyed the live music playing but the bartop was quite high so wasn't the most comfortable. The service was phenomenal and the food was delicious. I had the filet mignon medallions and they were very tender. I like that all dishes come with a vegetable and we get to pick a side. I chose a baked potato and it was very good. I also got a small complimentary dessert. A small chocolate cake and it was good, also tried the creme brûlée and liked it. My plants fell through for a birthday dinner downtown . Why drive so far when we can always go to our favorite Fine dining restaurant, Del Rae . The vibe is always just right. My ex boyfriends, Dad used to bring the family, and I here all the time. Every time I sit in this restaurant. All I can think about is him . We literally sat in a booth, right next to the table that he always sits at. We were all sitting at the table thinking. Why didn't we invite him ? Oh well next time. As life would have it. Classic restaurant with great food and old school decor! We came here for a farewell dinner, got the calamari that was crispy. Both the New England clam chowder and Manhattan chowder were flavorful, lots of clam. we were half full after the soup. The prime ribs were cooked to perfection, we truly enjoyed! The all star item was the house complimentary garlic cheese bread, it was so delicious we had to asked for a second basket! Tonight we had dined at Dal Rae after many recommendations from a friend. The restaurant has a nostalgic feel and transports you back to the 50's and decked out for the holidays too. We came on a Friday night without reservations and were expecting a long wait, however, I think they took sympathy on us because we had our 4 year old daughter with us. We were famished after a long day of traveling about Whittier and La Habra. Our server, Luke, was the best. After only a few months of working at Dal Rae, he was knowledgeable about the menu and history of the restaurant. He answered all the menu and questions we had. He recommended the surf and turf option when I couldn't decide between the Sea Bass Ala Ben and the Fillet Mignon (good call Luke!). The French Onion soup was outstanding and my baked potato was the best. They didn't have a kid friendly menu but the kitchen made some buttered noodles for our daughter. She ate them up like there's no tomorrow. We. finished the meal off with a buttered cake with vanilla ice cream. My wife found this fantastic place for dinner tonight. Let me just say I have passed by this place at least 50 times without noticing it. I'm glad she did! We had a wedding anniversary dinner here and it didn't disappoint. We had the best server Lou! We started with Cadillac Margaritas and the Mexican Old Fashioned. Marvelous! Then we had the crab claw and crab cake appetizers delicious. Then the garlic cheese bread....You could make a burger or grilled shortrib with that bread and I woudl buy it! For dinner the wife had the Alaskan King Crab legs and I had the double french cut lamb chops with broccoli and mashed potatoes. Lou checked on us periodically to ensure everyting was well. It was my first time dining here, and I absolutely loved it. The food was great, and our waitress was on top of everything very attentive and friendly. The only issue I had was with the host. I mentioned (politely) that we hadn't been acknowledged yet and didn't mean to be rude. We had just been seated at our table and hadn't seen anyone. The host responded with sarcasm, saying, "Hi, I'm your waiter," which I didn't appreciate. This is a Classic. Old fashioned steak house with dim lights and leather booths. Excellent service and a great menu. It never disappoints, unless you can't get a reservation! I love the relish tray and bread they serve when you are seated. BUT don't fill up, cheese bread is served with dinner. Great steaks, Prime Rib, the Sea Bass À la Ben is one of my favorites. They even have a lounge area with a piano player. Try this place out for your next special occasion, birthday or celebration. They even have private rooms available. Everyone we dealt with: valet; host; busboys; servers; bartender...everyone exuded premium customer service. Julie was our server. She provided just the right level of attentiveness. Charming; helpful; she really knew the menu and helped guide us to some outstanding app's/salad/entrees. Food was delicious; tableside Caesar; branzino; shrimp cocktail; just terrific. Came here on a whim. The restaurant is quite festive during the holidays. If you're into their specialty of "peppered" meats then this is the place for you. The restaurant was quite busy with some large parties even at 9:30pm dinner time. Service was good, they start off with their bread basket and later come back with another round of different type of bread. What threw me off was when I went to the restroom and having to pass by the bar, it was like I walked into a dive bar as it smelled like one. There was karaoke and live music which is cool. Prices are similar to your regular steakhouse and there is only valet parking on site. read more

FYI, this place is valet only, so be prepared to hand your keys over. I ordered the chicken fried steak and didn't realize how salty it would be because of all the bacon that was used as a topping and maybe infused with the sauce too. If I didn't have the mashed potatoes, I don't think I could have eaten as much as I did. If the salt level was reduced, it would have definitely been more enjoyable. I love coming Dal Rae for date night! This restaurant has been around for many years and it's located in the unexpected Pico Rivera area. It's a little hidden gem! It's a steakhouse so expect steakhouse prices, our favorite is the veal chop - it's always perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned. We really enjoy the table-side cesar salad - depending on who's preparing it, you get a little bit of a show. The parking is valet only - $6 The place is always packed -especially on weekends. The atmosphere is great - like 90's classic steakhouse. The waiters use crumbers to clean off your table and the service is generally pretty good. Cooked perfectly to my request of medium rare plus-thats five stars right away for me. I think I should have asked for an herbed butter. It was slightly underseasoned but I asked for some chimichurri and that helped. It was a huge portion and quality was excellent. If I could give no stars I would. An almost $500 bill and not worth it at all. We had a 5pm reservation and service was so slow we did not get out of there until after 8:30. Our steaks came out cold and overcooked. (How do you order a BONE IN filet RARE and it comes out MEDIUM WELL) Such a dissapointment. The potatoes on the side were warmer that our steaks. They had to have been sitting for so long. Oysters that we started with were decent. The shrimp cocktail had no flavor it was rubbery and overcooked. Table side ceasar was good. They dropped off some cheese bread a little before we got our main dishes and I only think that happened as a consolation because we were sitting there for so long. This restaurant was having a large private party and the rest of the restaurnt was so crowded that you could barely squeeze through the tables to get to the restroom.
