Loved all the drinks! They have a lot of really cool cocktails which is mainly what we came for. The cocktail list is pretty diverse and unique but still concise, which I like. They have a full bar though so you can order whatever you'd like and they make a really good espresso martini if you're a fan of those. The food selection felt a bit limited and the vegetarian options were also limited. We did try the fries and the BBQ Vegetarain Burnt Ends which were quite good, but there wasn't much more for me as a veggie unfortunately. The drinks is absolutely come back for though and the service was excellent! The decor is kind of a classic, wealthy mansion vibe, but still maintaining a casual air with the ambiance. I came here after the first Thursday art walks in Pioneer Square around 8pm with no reservation and was able to grab a table for 5 after a short wait. This is probably the most appropriately named bar in Seattle, but it leans into the rainy weather here by creating an intimate atmosphere. There are beautiful hardwood floors that switch to marble tile as you get closer to the bar. The food is mostly comfort food (with just a few vegetarian options, and no visible vegan options), but you shouldn't come here for the food, come for the drinks and atmosphere. read more

I am in Seattle for three days. I went here on Monday night with a co-worker and the place was empty (which is understandable since it was President's Day). We sat at the end of the bar and the bartender came right over to chat and take our order. We started out with a couple drinks recommended by our bartender. My coworker got a whiskey drink and I a Moscow Mule. While not served in a metal mug, the drink was smooth and delicious in the glass - which is the first time I had ever had a decent Moscow Mule served in a glass. My coworker knew his drinks and ordered a whiskey I'd never heard of (though I'm not a connoisseur of whiskey), then he ordered a cocktail off the menu that the bartender recommended and then had a vodka drink with the Polish vodka the bartender also had recommended (the same one I had ordered for my mule. He wanted oysters (which I think are icky) and he said were very good. I got the duck fat fries (heavenly) and then we both ordered burgers which were juicy and delicious. I looked this place up because I wanted a bar that specialized in specialty drinks. They did not disappoint. Be warned... parking is limited, and we came about an hour before they closed. The bartender was wonderful and made some really good suggestions. First, we had the old-fashioned from the boozy menu, and the dos arbolitos fenn the fizzy menu. The la hara old-fashioned packed a lot of punch without being overwhelming. The dos arbolitos was sweet and fizzy with an aftertaste of rose water. Next, we had the jaztronaut, which reminded me of a ruby red grapefruit and the wintry cocktail that featured a sweetened brandy that made it pleasant with a hint of orange. The bartender did inform us that she and another coworker created the cocktail. It may not be on the menu when the weather changes. Came here for brunch on a Sunday and it was EMPTY. We were the only ones in the restaurant LOL. The inside looks really pretty, kind of historic almost, and I really liked the atmosphere. I ordered the steak frites and thought they were only okay. The steak was too tough and the ratio of steak to fries was really off in my opinion. The fries were also overly salted, but I liked the chimichurri sauce on the steak. My boyfriend ordered the vegetarian sloppy joe, which he also thought was only okay. I've had Damn the Weather on my radar for over a year now and am so glad to finally have had the opportunity to check it out. Super quiet on a Thursday evening, but it was right around the holidays so not sure if it's indicative of a normal midweek evening or an anomaly. Service was friendly, and the bartender made a very nice mezcal negroni. Not a ton of vegetarian options on their menu, but the mushroom risotto was pretty good if not a little oniony for my liking. Two of us in our group ordered it, and the portion sizes were very different between the two dishes. The veggie sloppy joe looked delicious, and the fries accompanying it were outstanding. Even my husband thought so, which was a bit disappointing to me because it meant he actually ate most of them. They were his, so I can't be too upset about it. Really cozy and classy ambiance. Anyways, two things drew me to this place: friends' recommendations of high quality drinks, and, of course, the name of this place. It was just somewhat busy after dinner on Wednesday, so the party of 4 of us were seated immediately at one of the tables. We ordered some drinks - I personally got the boozier drink, the Ramón Fonst, consisting of white rum, dry vermouth, orange curacao, and campari. While it is mostly concentrated liquor, quite bitter, there is also a nice hint of sweetness and fruitiness that makes it surprisingly easy to drink. My friend also got a dish - the grilled zucchini and eggplants. The dish is rich and very flavorful, with a generous amount of garlic. However, a good amount of vegetables were a bit too burnt. In short, only go here as a bar for drinks, as the food can be a bit lacking, which may not be too surprising as it is "bar food" (I guess this is a fancier type of bar food). This place is so creative and funny. At the end, when we get the bill, it is placed underneath a postcard labeled "Damnage." Yes, rip my wallet, just kidding - prices are quite in line with other bars in the area. $14 for a strong cocktail is pretty solid. read more

Sometimes I feel that places like this are wasted on me. I don't drink a lot and I am a pretty simple (plain) eater, so "fancy food" might not be appreciated as much as the next person. However, I did enjoy this bar/restaurant when my wife and I visited recently. It was a little tricky to find the entrance-there were two closed, narrow doors near the patio and one of them had the hostess table in front of it. But we figured it out. I noticed a few other people having the same struggle while we were there. Know that vaccination cards are required to dine here, which we came prepared for. Service was friendly and the food was ok. We ordered the duck fat fries tossed in Chinese five spice served with an aioli. That five spice seasoning was awesome and had really nice warming notes to it. We then got a side of cornichons which were briny, salty and paired really nicely with the fatty fries. I would highly recommend this place for the drinks and food. This is a COVID-era review. Reviewing mainly drinks and customer service because we didn't really try the food. Because of COVID, seating is limited. The patio area will fit like three small parties. Inside, there is probably seating for 8 parties(?). There are no bar seating. We were lucky that a party was ending so our wait wasn't too long. We did see a lot of parties trying to grab a table though. Staff is super nice. We had a lot of questions (due to food allergies), but the staff was helpful in answering the questions (or trying to find the answers). Cocktails: they seem to have a rotating menu. They are definitely on the strong side which was enjoyable! Food: we ordered the meat and cheese platter (charcuterie and cheese board). I was worried that the selection would be disappointing because of the pics on yelp, but I was pleasantly surprised! A great selection and meats and cheeses. We even had the beer bread and sauces. Fantastic lunch take away experience! Stuff tried: Duck fat fries: i am not sure if could tell these fries were cooked in duck fat vs. Any other oil. I might have imagined a faint 5 spice peking duck flavor? Yum! Fried cauliflower: cauliflower has seen a Renaissance lately it seems and this is frequently found on many menus. This is my favorite (so far) fried cauliflower appetizer! The crust is very crunchy and solid! Get this! Asparagus and maitake mushrooms: tasty dish that has leaks and is covered with a melty cheese Dulce de leche cookie: holy crap this was good! The cookie had a burnt (in a good way) carmalized bottom and the dulce de leche sauce it was drenched in was ridiculously good. I would get this over and over again. We came to Damn the Weather on a Thursday afternoon to gather our small office for a luncheon before we "broke" for the holidays. With our office just a little ways down on 1st Ave S, we walk by this storefront all the time and have talked about trying it many times so we selected it for our lunch for this special meal. Initially, we walked in and had 7 people (same check). We were immediately told they do not accommodate parties larger than 6 and that no, we could not split our party into two tables. They stated that this is because of their small kitchen size and their management's desire to keep wait times down. While trying to decide what to do, one of the people in our party texted and said they had to bail, so that left us with the needed 6 people. Cool. So, we waited and then sat and ordered wine to start while we waited for the last person in our party to arrive. The service was great. It's a smaller place so it's intimate and comfortable and while the timing might be a bit slower it is to be expected when you have a smaller restaurant size (a very important tid-bit to remember when reviewing, friends!)... The wine selection is excellent for a small venue that doesn't specialize in wine and we enjoyed our pre-meal libations very much. Of our six meals, 5 of them were excellent. The chicken sandwiches received an extra amount of praise from the 2 people that ordered them and the french onion soup with kale salad was a big win, also! The only meal we had trouble with was my ratatouille flat bread. It came out and I looked a little odd but I had never had it before so I went to cut it and it was literally as hard as a rock. After a minute, the server returned and apologized telling me that she had brought out the flatbread without cheese and they were already remaking it for me but I was welcome to keep the first one. I hesitated but accepted. We tried to eat the first one but our knives could barely cut it and my teeth could not get through the crust at all. I waited with anticipation for the "correct" flatbread and was pleasantly surprised... the new one was softer, had better flavor, and the cheese was just right. We conjectured about what went wrong with the first one to be so much different! haha. i would definitely say that they should note that the squash is the featured veggie on the flatbread because that is the majority of the flavor that you get. Overall, it was a positive experience but due to the party limit, we probably wouldn't go back with friends since it wouldn't allow friends to join us after we have been seated. read more

The name alone just draws you in, especially after experiencing a year in the PNW. You learn to roll with the weather, cause it goes many directions in a day sometimes. Cool restaurant/bar in the Pioneer square area of downtown Seattle. Love the old brick buildings throughout the area, lots of history. Choices of indoor or outdoor seating, outdoor seating allows you to people watch, which can allows be interesting, especially on a game day. Definitely the choice next time, and there will be multiple next times! Just a short walk from baseball/football/soccer stadiums or do an about face to check out Pike Market place. Lots of history next door if you want to check out the old underground city. Service was fast and friendly, lots of great selection on the menu... plenty to peruse next visits, a little disappointed they were out of oysters, but always next time. Keeping it small this time, as the Mariners game was the main attraction for the evening. Lots of sharables, as well as main dishes that looked delicious, especially as they last by. Ordered the marinated olives and a special to the house old fashioned. The green olives were delicious! Very unique taste with the caraway/anise? Seeds, lots of flavors accentuating each other in every olive bite. So good!! The bowl was empty quickly! The old fashioned was a nice twist.. gin instead of whiskey, another tasty recommendation to try, a great twist on a classic. Many more twists left to try another time. Atmosphere was laid back, lots of interesting art work.. mirrors throughout, lots of history and just enjoy the Pioneer area from those there. A Stupendous find on my beautiful Seattle vacation. Usually try I keep reviews to myself in my collections. With the amount of travel I do I just use YELP as a reminder of where I've been and where to go in my quick layovers, but this one I feel I had to share. Wandering around the neighborhoods of Seattle with my girlfriend and we stumbled upon this place. They had an outside seating area on this beautiful Friday afternoon, The place looked inviting, and a name that is unique and cool enough that it got our attention. We went inside and got the outside seating which was awesome on this beautiful day that allowed people watching and views of all the cool Seattle folk going about their day. Our Waitress Bri came and made suggestions of the "Malibu Dream House" and the "Morettes Old Fashioned". Ummm credit to Bri and the bartenders but these drinks were fantastic and exactly what we needed!! So refreshing, great tasting and unique. Special props to the staff for adding the effort of the presentation of even adding clear ice. Its a small detail but one that shows they are putting in extra effort into all they do. Ended up having a few more and enjoying the atmosphere with the location, staff, and drinks. What a GREAT time! Apparently, we liked it enough because the very next day we found ourselves back there after a full day of Seattle tourist nature attractions. IMAGINE THAT! We were greeted at the table by Bri again and she remembered us and our drink orders which prompted us to just say "Another round of our usual". It felt So0o0o fun to feel like "regulars" if only for a second at a cool place. This time we ordered food to snack on and we started with the "Duck Fat Fries". I usually find Duck Fat Fries to generally be a gimmick and they be nothing special to them but these were FANTASTIC! They had such great flavor, somehow greasy yet light, and cooked perfectly didn't feel undercooked or starchy at all. Lastly me and the girlfriend shared some Campanelle Pasta which apparently they make in house. ANOTHER TASY DISH! It was so well balanced with the ham, peas, and butter sauce and the pasta cooked perfectly. Long story short this place was a fantastic find! We managed to cram a lot of Seattle attractions into a short beautiful weekend but one of the biggest unexpected treats was stumbling upon such a great establishment. The staff is great, drinks refreshing, food delicious, and (this ones for me) the best companion to enjoy it all with. I was visiting Seattle on a work trip and decided to explore a little. I stopped by this adorable restaurant, where I am seated at the bar. When I travel alone, I often enjoy sitting at the bar and conversing with others. I truly felt like because I was alone, the staff did not think I deserved service. The bartender had some friends at the bar and barely acknowledged me. I ordered a drink and some food. When he went to bring out the food, he didn't know where it went even though he took my order. I had to wave down the other bartender to get my check. If service had been better, I may have gotten another cocktail or some dessert. I hate that I already gave so much money to a place where I was treated like a second rate citizen in between couples who received excellent service. The food was also average at that. My pasta had a gigantic chunk of garlic in it too. I do not recommend this place. Especially after ironically my first few days in Seattle have been amazing weather. Shame on Damn the Weather. My partner and I came here for the first time last Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! They don't take reservations so we took our chances and showed up at 8pm for dinner. They didn't have a table immediately available but we were able to order drinks from a standing counter space which was good enough for us! No sooner than we got our drinks, we were seated at a table just 12 minutes after arrival. We started with the Calvados Buck and Eyes Like Twins for drinks. Both were tasty, refreshing, and not too sweet - just like we like them! For appetizers we ordered the Sunchokes & Mushrooms (our second favorite dish of the evening!) and the duck fat fries. I enjoyed the fries with the aioli but my partner found the duck fat taste too distinct and the aioli a bit too mayo-y. For entrees we split the Spicy Pork Salad and the Grilled Lamb Heart. The lamb heart was perfectly cooked and tasty. The pork salad was TO DIE. We both couldn't get enough of it! Truly, everything about that dish was perfect. We were pleasantly surprised by how good the pork was and loved that it was on the crispy side. My partner also got a second drink, Tiny Chance, which was super tequila forward so he needed a bit of help finishing it. It was listed under the boozey section so that should have been expected but the gin drink didn't seem as overpowering to us (maybe we just prefer gin!). The service was great, our food came out super fast even with how busy they were! Stopped by for lunch with a colleague and am glad we did. I've been here for cocktails a few times but this was the first daytime visit. I ordered the breakfast sandwich, grateful they were still serving breakfast at near noon and a Pineapple Gum NA beverage. The sandwich was piled high and the bread was warm and soft. I appreciated the salad that came with it as the flavors worked together beautifully. The Pineapple beverage was bit bitter for me but overall I enjoyed it enough to finish it :) The ginger beer is good too! We sat outside so had a little narrow table space but enjoyed the sunny afternoon and watching tour groups pass us by on their way to Pioneer Square gems. As we were on our way out I saw the interior become more populated with friend groups and some business meetings. Relaxed vibe, prompt and attentive service, and good food. This place is small but mighty. There is a really great energy and vibe here. I came in around 6 on a Thursday night no reservations (for 2). There is a small area to stand and wait and they'll bring you drinks or apps if you like. The wait was only a few minutes. There's cute stools at the bar top that we sat at. I usually prefer bar top so that was perfect. The bar staff was friendly and attentive. Once we ordered the food came out pretty fast. Not pictured here was the duck fat fries and duck carbonara. Have eaten here many time before football games, and had great experiences. Today was an exception, unfortunately super disappointed. We were in line before opening at 11am. Expected food to take some time so no worries. We waiting for about 45 minutes before we started noticing that tables that had come in way after us we're getting their plates. We asked our server who chalked it up to it being busy and we said yes we get it but strange that other tables are getting served. 20 minutes later a manager that had just come on, came over and started to apologize and say our food we be chomped. Food finally came 20 minutes later, at the time I asked for an explanation and was told I'm not uncertain terms that my food was being comped and I should just let it go. That's not the point, being transparent and actually taking accountability is just as important. Making the customer feel like it's their fault and that their being done a favour, and on top of that doing it with attitude certainly is unappreciated and unacceptable.
