I was so excited to try this but was so disappointed by my experience. I got an einspanner here and half my drink was cream. Also the employee charged me wrong for the drink after they also made it wrong, and then made me go back and pay for an extra .50 or something like that. I thought it was really petty considering my friend and I got drinks and 2 other menu items (too-sweet traditional Korean dessert sampler with a bunch of dried fruit and another item that was not memorable at all) that totaled over $30, plus we tipped. I personally would not come back here again. read more

I had the silver needle tea and the mugwort waffle. Both were excellent. The tea is prepared in a small pot and you are given a sand timer to brew it. I thought the tea tasted great and I enjoyed the novelty of pouring it into little tiny cups. White teas are very delicate and when it is brewed well the flavor is really pleasant. The mugwort waffle was also pretty good. The batter seems to be made with rice or something because it was a little bit chewy. There was also salted butter melted on top and served with a side of sweet cream and red bean. This was definitely an interesting thing to eat and it went well with my tea. The service is pretty good, the cashier and workers were friendly and explained everything to me nicely. The one problem is the parking lot is filled with homeless people. Two of them pulled up with a cart full of trash, sat on the bench in front of the store (the store's property) and were smoking and eating some pungent food. The smoke and food scent mixture blew in through the door every time someone walked in/out. I think the plaza ought to invest in some security guards. read more

Food - I've been here on multiple instances (before I started drinking matcha and after). The einspaner was decent. I came back on a separate instance to try their matcha and that was pretty good. Tried the strawberry matcha and was not impressed. I think they use a premade syrup that has strawberry bits in it. Service - I can't recall the service on my first visit so it was it was just ok. The second time I went I think they were overwhelmed with how busy it was. There was one person working drinks and the cashier was working food I think. I think they are just overwhelmed. The woman who was working the drinks and she was WORKING hard. She looked overwhelmed with the endless orders coming in. I felt bad that it seemed like it was just back to back orders and she was working alone. Ambience - there are a fair number of tables in the space which is great for people who want to work. They have a lot for parking but the space fills fast. Overall it seems a bit hyped for what it is. read more

Great place to get drinks and study! Inside was very peaceful and comfortable but it can get very busy of the weekends. Drinks came out picture perfect with all the different layers! The cutest shop in the plaza there's parking up front they're known for einspanner which is a thick cream. I got the mango matcha and I was skeptical mango puree and matcha would taste good together but it was really good. My friend got a latte w the cream on top and it tastes like dessert. Highly recommend I also got the mugwort waffle which wasn't bad it has good texture and consistency but I didn't consider it anything amazing. I did like the fact it's not overly sweet. Service was also quick and super helpful as they will explain their specialties It has indoor seating counter space and the decor is very modern clean. There is also a restroom :) read more

Parking is tough but it's expected in LA. Small parking lot. Upon entering it was a clean and aesthetically pleasing. It was pretty busy when we arrived around 2 pm so service was alright. They could have been a bit more attentive to the customers waiting in line but they were really busy so I get it also. Matcha Einspanner: 9/10 very good. Great quality matcha and nicely sweetened. Love the thick cream on top. Strawberry Matcha: 8:10 I like the amount of strawberry bits without the strawberry overpowering the matcha flavor. Nicely sweetened as well. We order two iced teas and was surprised how good it was! The tea was perfectly steeped and not bitter. The snack assortment was so tasty! Everything was not too sweet and it was a great value. I'd pass if you don't like nuts (maybe dates too). The staff is so friendly! My sister and I dropped by an hour before closing on a Thursday night so we got everything to go. It was just one person working so the wait was about 15-20 minutes. So thankful there is parking but it does get full quick. The shop is very quiet so it'd be a great place to do some work or reading. read more

I have nothing to offer that has not already been said by everyone else. I'm sure the shop is already plenty TikTok famous as is, but the aesthetics is truly secondary to how great the drinks actually are. The Hojicha Eispanner is magnificent. Damo is my favorite coffee shop in all of LA. The wonderful barista who opens shop on Thursday/Friday mornings always welcomes me with a smile and makes me feel at ease. read more

Clean cut shop tucked in Ktown. Went to try the einspener matcha and was not disappointed. Matcha is definitely ceremonial grade and was refreshing especially with the cream top. A must visit spot for matcha in LA. read more

Damo is a quaint place and can get busy at certain times. Ordered their Hojicha Einspanner Latte since that's what they're known for. The flavor was smooth and nutty/roasty (~$7). The one thing I'd change is the sweetness level. Both the tea and the cream on top was sweetened so mixing the two together made it a bit hard to drink. It would be perfect if the tea had been unsweetened so that the cream would balance it out. It's a cute study spot with a few tables inside. The owner was nice as everyone said. I'd be willing to give this place another try! Though there is a parking lot, it gets crowded and full easily since there are several other stores in the plaza. I'd recommend coming during off hours. read more

I kept seeing this cafe on TikTok and it looked so good, I had to go! It's a small yet cute cafe with an all-white aesthetic. It was filled with tons of customers even on a rainy Sunday evening. We went intending to study there but quickly realized that wouldn't be possible due to the limited amount of seating. We placed our orders and got a strawberry matcha einspener and the matcha einspener. My friend and I immediately noticed that the quality of matcha was high, which elevated the experience of the drink. Came back today and drove from West Hollywood to try the shaved ice. I was super excited to try since my first experience here was pleasant. Not this time. I wish I could take the drive back bc it was a terrible and awkward experience. Enough for me to not ever want to step foot here. Cashier first asked whether I wanted the shaved Ice "for here or to go." Before I could answer, I was quickly interrupted by him when he said, "uh actually we only do the shaved ice for here." The cafe was full already and he kept staring around saying "hmm, hmmm let me see if I can find a spot." Clearly there was no free table. He ended the conversation by stating that he's sorry and nothing else we could do. End of story. Understandable, but there was no willingness to accommodate the customer - not something I appreciate after driving 40 minutes to visit Damo. Truly I think it's just bad business practice. Overall, horrible experience. Inconvenient and the communication was inconsiderate. Be weary if you're coming here specifically for the shaved ice, you probably won't ever get the chance to try it. It's worth the hype! I ordered the Match Einspener (Einspänner) and I loved all the flavors of the creamy top that mixed well with the matcha. The creamy top had a nice indulging flavor to it with hints of vanilla and coconut milk. Once you mix the drink all the flavors come together softly. They claim to be a Korean cafe that specializes in matcha and that's 100% true. The establishment is a minimalistic cafe that offers limited seating, but nevertheless it's a nice and chill atmosphere. The service is good and they play chill tunes as well. Don't expect to always find space to study or just hangout. They shouldn't loose a star for the square footage of the establishment. Also, parking can fluctuate depending on the hours. I definitely recommend trying DAMO. read more

BEST matcha I've had in LA so far. Not terribly priced at $6.50, and absolutely worth every penny. Matcha latte strikes a perfect balance between earthy and sweet, and is very clearly made with good quality matcha. Love that you get to see it made in front of you! We were so moved that we went back the next week - this time also tried a seasonal drink; their scarlet tea with a cream top. This one was also very excellent! Perfect blend of sweetness from the cream and tartness from the tea. Cafe itself is very cute! It was never too busy when we went but it is pretty small, so I wouldn't rely on getting seating inside. Thank you for expanding your hours DAMO. I was finally able to try this place out thanks to their new hours. You should also try this place out too. My wife and I got the mugwart waffle and the mango shaved ice. Starting with the mugwart waffle, it tasted very healthy and had a texture similar to pan fried rice cakes. It tasted great when paired with the whipped cream & red bean topping, but eating it was a bit difficult because our plastic knives and forks just weren't cutting it, literally. I might bring my own metal knives and forks next time. The mango shaved ice was unlike any other shaved ice I've had in Koreatown. This amazing mountain of ice and mangos somehow tastes like mango Hi-Chew. To me, this tastes amazing, but to others it can be a bit too sweet so I would highly recommend sharing with friends. The pieces of mango are also super ripe and very juicy. Parking is free until about 5-6, after which you'll have to pay for valet, so coming earlier in the day is highly recommended. The cafe itself is very clean and aesthetic, but also pretty small so seating is limited. My wife and I got lucky and arrived as soon as another party was leaving, but we saw many parties waiting for tables/seats to open up. Overall, I really appreciated this little cafe. You could tell that the owners & employees really put care and effort into everything they make and do. read more

This coffee shop has potential but lacks execution. We tried their hojicha einspanner, which was our favorite, and their mango matcha latte. The matcha was a bit chalky, not well mixed but the cream top was tasty and mangos were fresh. We also got a box of their signature da gwa, which greatly disappointed us. For $13, you get some small nibbles, which is okay if they were good nibbles- but only 1/5 of the things in the box tasted good. If I were to return, I would only get their drinks, but I also think Stagger has better drinks. read more

Stopped by Damo to check out the cute new cafe on a rainy day, the place is pretty busy! We got the hojicha tea latte and the damo signature latte along with the signature snack platter. They put a lot of hand care quality into their drinks! Doesn't taste artificial or syrupy. You can eat watch them hand whisk the matcha, which is not common anymore. It's also a quiet place to come work and enjoy a pastry and drink. I believe it's free parking during the day time, but valet at night. I've been wanting to try Damo for awhile and finally made the trip! Arrived around 1pm on a Sunday and it was packed. We were lucky enough to grab seats at the bar. We ordered the da-gwa sampler (dine in only), matcha basque cheesecake, matcha einspener, and seasonal chestnut matcha einspener. The matcha basque cheesecake was so creamy and delicious, a must get! We also enjoyed the variety in the da-gwa sampler. The chestnut matcha einspaner was good but not worth the price. It barely had chestnut flavor to it, and I tried a sip of the matcha einspaner, and it tasted basically the same but $1 cheaper. Overall, aesthetic but super packed and pricey. read more

The place was packed - always a good sign. There are very few places to sit, even on a weekday afternoon. The staff was small but attentive and efficient. They focus on matcha and einspanner drinks. We had the matcha latte with mango (real chunks!!) that was delicious and refreshing and matcha einspanner, that honestly I couldn't differentiate from the normal matcha. The surprise rested on the waffles, their signature dish, that was savory, crunchy and paired so well with the sweet and buttery cream (cream) and red beans. read more

I wish they opened this cafe in OC so I could go more often. The matcha einspanner never misses. It's sweet, the matcha is rich, and the cream is delicious. They were out of vanilla latte so my sister ordered the hazelnut latte and it was yummy as well. I liked how the syrup didn't overpower the drink. Huge plus there's free parking and the service is nice and fast. Next time I will try their strawberry drink. read more

It is also a good place to study, as there are several small tables and counters. However, there is only one power strip, located at the front table, so make sure your devices are fully charged before visiting! Food/Drink: - Da-Gwa Sampler (10/10): I was looking for a snack before dinner, so I decided to try this without knowing exactly what it was. It turned out to be delicious! It included yakgwa (slightly sweet and cinnamony), dried jujube dates (sweet and crunchy), dried persimmon with walnut and cream cheese (my favorite - chewy and nutty), and a rice cake with a sesame filling. - Strawberry Matcha (9/10): If you enjoy your matcha strong with a hint of strawberry, this is what you should get! - Mango Cream Matcha (10/10): Yummy! I'm not usually a big fan of mango matcha and generally prefer strawberry, but I decided to give this a try. I'm really glad I did because it's now my go-to here. The whole interaction was extremely matter-of-fact, making the place feel cold and entirely unwelcoming. The location itself has a heavy hipster vibe, so if that's your jam, you might actually enjoy the atmosphere they've put together. For me, though, the combination of weak coffee and poor service means it just isn't my kind of place. Unfortunately, I won't be returning.

I really enjoyed it and could tell it was crafted with care. **Negatives:** Unfortunately, my experience was overshadowed by a rude interaction with one of the baristas. A female worker wearing a pink cardigan (you know who you are!) insisted I return the straw bucket to its rightful place. While I was in the process of doing so, she hastily grabbed the bucket, causing my drink to spill all over me and the floor. Instead of apologizing or offering any help, she turned her back and went straight back to preparing drinks. I stood there embarrassed, asking for a paper towel to clean myself and the area. Thankfully, a kind male barista stepped in. He not only cleaned up the spill but also remade my drink, which I truly appreciated. His helpful and gracious attitude salvaged an otherwise frustrating moment. To the barista in the pink cardigan: I understand the importance of keeping things organized, and I was already moving the bucket back as you asked. However, your hasty and careless actions not only caused the spill but also made me feel dismissed. If you're in L.A go to Koreatown, you have to stop by Damo Coffee. I tried three different drinks, and I'm not exaggerating when I say they were all so good but the strawberry matcha? I've tried similar drinks at other spots, and nothing compares to how Damo does it. They've actually got me hooked to the point where I started making my own matcha at home, that's how you know it's serious. The matcha is hand-m whisked, so you're getting it fresh every time, and you can definitely taste the difference. Service is cool and efficient nothing over the top, but they greet you and keep things moving. Even when it's busy, they work fast, which I appreciate. The shop itself is cute, simple, and minimalist not fancy, but it has a nice vibe. Just be prepared: parking can be a struggle. Trusting his expertise was the best decision we made that day because each sip and bite exceeded our expectations. We were surprised by how good the Mango Cream Matcha was. The drink had the perfect balance of mango sweetness complementing the rich matcha flavor. The Yuzu Espresso Tonic was also a refreshing drink, with a bold kick of espresso and a subtle hint of citrus from the yuzu. However, the star of the show was undoubtedly the Earl Grey Cake. We were lucky enough to see it in stock and the cake paired perfectly with our drinks. It's a bit of a bummer that there isn't a location closer to the 626 area, where such high-quality matcha lattes seem scarce, at least from my experience. Damp is a cozy spot with some great drink options! I tried the matcha latte, which was decent--not too sweet and just the right amount of matcha flavor. But the real star was the hojicha latte, which had such a rich, toasty flavor and was perfectly creamy. It's definitely worth a visit if you're a fan of unique lattes! The atmosphere is inviting and the staff is friendly, making it a great place to relax or get some work done. I'll be back for the hojicha! read more

Demo Tea House is absolutely incredible! I ordered the Hazelnut Einspänner, and it was hands down the best drink I've ever had--rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced. The atmosphere is just as amazing, giving off cozy Korean café vibes that I've been missing since moving back from South Korea. Also one of the places with horrible parking. Valet only all day and the street parking is non existent, good luck!
