To be honest i was disappointed with the matcha... Why is this so hyped? I definitely prefer rok, airoma, vivot
I went to Damo around 2pm on a weekend, and the line was already starting to form out the door. Unfortunately, the line takes up a majority of the cafe space, along with the few sitting tables, so it was pretty difficult to find a spot to wait for my drink after ordering. The pickup area can also get blocked by the line or waiting area, which can make it a little awkward when you're trying to reach over someone to grab your drink. I ordered the Coconut Hojicha and the Matcha Einspanner. The Coconut Hojicha was refreshing, nutty, and definitely the standout of the two. It's such a fun twist on the typical matcha coconut drink, and I have to give Damo their flowers for creating something that feels unique. The Matcha Einspanner wasn't particularly stand-out compared to some of the other cafes in K-Town, but it was still a well-balanced drink with a nice mix of bitterness, sweetness, and creaminess. I can definitely see why so many people consider Damo one of their favorite cafes. Despite the crowded setup, the drinks are creative and thoughtfully done!
Absolutely obsessed with the Hojicha Coconut! This drink is DIVINE, so refreshing, creamy, and delicious. I could literally drink 10 of these! It's definitely a must-try, and I already can't wait to come back for another one. The cakes were just okay for me. I'd probably pass on them next time if I'm just getting something for myself, but they would make a cute gift or present for someone!
Matcha strawberry einspanner really good and creamy You can taste the matcha but it blends beautifully w the strawberry puree and cream top.very crowded when we stopped by. Not enough tables and no one was wiping them down either so it was sticky. Accepted apple pay n cc with no additional surcharge. Drinks came out quick and parking was free.
We ordered the Damo latte - an espresso shot with agave sweetener and the Matcha cream top. The espresso flavor wasn't terribly strong and the matcha tasted alright to me There was a long line of customers and it's a pretty popular Korean drink shop in Koreatown!
Solid matcha place in ktown!! There's so many places around and it's a saturated market so I get the competition... but this place holds its own! Matcha is rich and bold, there's a good amount so it's not weak. Milk ratio is good so it's not diluted at all. The cream top is nice and thick and doesn't melt into the drink! Matcha Cream Top ($7.75)-- I looooove me a nice and thick cream top and this place does it amazingly. It's thick and perfectly sweetened and doesn't melt with the drink/ice. It stays perfectly thick and still and above the matcha unless you mix it in. The matcha is also really nice and rich. None of the bland or grassy taste. Just genuine good matcha! Chocolate Forest ($7.75)-- Basically same as above but the cream on top tastes like Milo/Ovaltine mixed in. It's a nice and sweet nostalgic taste. Not a hint of bitterness so if you want mocha/dark chocolate this is not the one for you. It's more happy kid hot chocolate vibes. Overall I really like this place for their matcha and would get it again. Pricing is steep but all good matcha goes for around $8 nowadays. Theres a shared parking lot (free if you go in the afternoon) but otherwise street parking.
got the strawberry matcha!! the cream top was delicious and so glad it didn't make the entire matcha drink heavy bc i just wanted something sweet and refreshing! the service was nice and quick! got my drink within 5-7 mins after ordering!! the inside was on the smaller side and it got busy/crowded fast so recommend getting your drinks to go!
Pretty solid matcha spot that I'm more willing to go to now that the lines have died down :) We got the iced matcha latte and matcha einspanner, both half sweet which was the perfect level. Drinks come out pretty quickly too! There is a moderate amount of seating for socializing or studying. We came on a Saturday morning and were lucky enough find a parking spot in the lot (which is shared by a lot of places including the new bakery Out of Ordi)
Visited this spot on a Wednesday at noon and they constantly had a flow of customers coming in and out. There's only a handful of tables and chairs with some stool seating against the front window. Ordered a matcha latte and I kind of regret not adding the cream foam after, but it was already a $7 cup of matcha. Upon mixing and tasting it left a bitter aftertaste so I didn't really enjoy it. I added two packs of raw sugar to try and alter it but I probably should have asked for sweetener or cream top because it still left a bitter aftertaste. Service was lackluster, not warm and friendly, but pretty straightforward. I was able to snag a parking spot in the lot but it wasn't plentiful as the plaza is busy shared with the salt bread shop.
I stopped by DAMO and ordered a matcha latte. The matcha had a vibrant, earthy flavor that was stronger than most matcha places I've been to. I appreciated the quality of the tea, and the matcha powder and cream on top was not too overly sweet. My friend and I were able to enjoy our drinks inside the shop, as there were plenty of tables available for people to chat with friends or study or work inside.
One of my top 3 favorite matcha spots in LA. The matcha and hojicha always come out consistent and strong
Very delicious matcha and flavor. Strawberry is super good and flavorful. So yummy love it
My new favorite spot for decadent matcha and hojicha drinks! The cream top on the hojicha einspanner was so creamy and thick, and it was also the perfect level of sweetness. The strawberry matcha einspanner was also yummy and had a great presentation The space is pretty small but there are a few seats available. The line was around 20 minutes long on a Saturday afternoon. Like most spots in ktown, the parking lot is limited and you'll likely need to find street parking, but it is definitely worth the hype!
DAMO is so good. Except for the parking, but that's not their fault. We got the matcha mango latte, hojicha einspanner, and the mugwort waffle. PLEASE get the hojicha einspanner and the waffle. It's so good. If you like nutty flavors, you will love them both. The waffle comes with lightly sweetened cream and red bean paste, and it's just the perfect combination. The hojicha isn't excessively creamy, and has great flavor as well. The matcha mango was a bit too sweet for my taste, so I would skip it next time. The seating is very limited, so if you're coming to study, or talk with friends, I'd try to come early. read more

My fav cafe in ktown! I've tried their mugwort waffle (pls get this). Warm, chewy, yummy. My husband and I also got mango bingsoo and that was amazing as well. We also tried their einspener coffee and thats the best coffee I've tried. I really like their interior as well. Very modern and minimal. Love the open space they have. This place can get packed very fast so be aware of that. And parking is also a little hard to find if you come during peak lunch and dinner hours. read more

the BEST matcha einspanner i've had so far in la. the cream too is the perfect consistency and thickness without being too sweet, and the matcha was smooth and strong. i need them to open a san diego location asap. the interior is minimal and has ample seating, but it was pretty crowded on a sunday afternoon. regardless, service was quick and we were able to order and receive our drinks within 10-15 minutes!! their employees look like they walked out of a movie LOL and they're also super kind :) will definitely be back! read more
one of my fav coffee shops for einspener drinks! Damo is def worth a visit if you're in ktown. Drinks are a lil pricey and small but high in quality and just so well made + flavorful. Ordered: 1. mango cream matcha 9/10 - unique and delicious combination of fruit, cream, and matcha - seasonal and fresh, surprisingly very well balanced in taste. It is a lil heavy for a drink bc of the thick cream 2. Matcha latte einspener 8/10 - super cute and yummy, matcha flavor is strong + drink is so creamy when mixed 3. Hojicha einspanner 8.5/10 - this drink was my fav bc the cream was infused with hojicha flavored and is also very unique. Rarely am I able to order a hojicha tea latte at a coffee shop Overall aesthetic, simple coffee shop with high quality drinks and staff are always friendly. read more

Damo is one of my favorite cafe's in ktown! We got their hojicha latte with a shot of espresso, and their latte einspanner. Both drinks were so good! The coffee flavor is strong but perfect amount of sweetness and the foam on top is sooo silky! There are good seating inside, perfect for small talks and the staff are so nice!! There's also parking outside which is so nice since it's so hard to find parking in ktown / LA. I would come back again to try their matcha, definitely recommend!! read more
Very friendly staff and cute little coffee shop. Never tried Korean matcha before, very similar to Maru for those who've been. I wasn't the biggest fan of the Yuzu Matcha hot tea but it was still a unique flavor and I'm glad I tried it. Definitely recommend the matcha latte! read more

Aesthetically pleasing tea-oriented cafe shop. I came on a weekday before noon and found parking in the parking spot in front. Unfortunately they were out of the matcha items, so I opted for the hojicha latte and yak-kwa sampler. The latte which was around 7$ had a good earthy tea flavor and was surprisingly not that sweet. The yak-kwa sample came with dried persimmon, korean traditional cookie, walnut cake, and this rice cake item. My favorite is the dried persimmon that was sticky and sweet like a date. I felt that the sampler size was just right for one person. There was plenty of seating and tables at the cafe. There's great lighting so I was able to read my book peacefully and slowly sip on my latte and snack. Overall, it's a unique and great study/relaxing spot to get some interesting tea drinks and Korean style snacks. read more

10/10 love this place! The matcha spanner was really delicious and the strawberry matcha was just the right amount of sweet and you could still taste the matcha. Will be coming back! read more
DAMO is my favorite cafe in Ktown. I love einspaner drinks and naturally have tried the matcha and latte einspaners. Both are equally delightful. Also both times I went the servers have been so friendly!! And I love the ambiance for studying or meeting with friends. Great Wi-Fi. read more
Words can't express how good Damo is. I'm constantly on the search for a good matcha in the LA and Bay Area and this is it. I typically go early in the morning just as they open and there is always a sweet lady at the counter who takes the order and makes the drinks. The drinks do take a little longer than your typical to-go coffee spots but that's honestly cause she hand makes every drink and you can taste the quality. Basically if you're in a rush then this isn't the place for you even if you're the only person there. The cafe also has a really bright and modern looking feel to it and it's been nice working there a couple times. They do have wifi (just ask for the pw) so it's the perfect place to work while sipping on the best matcha in ktown. Will be going back soon to try their food! read more
wow the matcha einspanner here is so good! they have fresh pastries from clark street bakery and a decent amount of seating inside. it's located in a shopping center so there's great parking. there's outlets too so it makes for a nice study spot. read more

Sooo good omg!!! I got the matcha einspanner and the cream top was so tasty and sweet!! The matcha drink itself was also quite flavorful, a perfect amount of sweet and you could definitely taste the rich matcha flavor. The drink was a little smaller than I had anticipated but it was so delicious :) definitely worth trying read more

first time trying damo even though it's super close to my workplace. the drink was super yummy. their foam literally tastes like melted vanilla ice cream. it was super packed though, since everyone wants a delish drink!! read more
Loved the drinks here! I came here with a few friends and we all loved the drink we got. I ordered the Strawberry Einpenser, and it was delicious! It tasted like a strawberry creamsicle! Highly recommend this drink if you don't really like coffee. The service was very good! The lady that took my order was the sweetest and gave me so many recommendations when I asked what a sweet and delicious drink she recommends is. I loved how friendly and genuine she was when speaking to customers. The only thing about this place was it's very small and there aren't many tables and seats. Since most people were doing work, tables didn't clear up, so if you're planning on studying here, you might have to wait a while. Overall, loved this place and will definitely be back to try other drinks! read more

Inside was crowded when we got there. However, most of the people got their drinks already and by the time we finished ordering, there was an empty table for us. The interior is a very minimal simplistic approach with only the things that are needed to make things on the menu. Our party also ordered the Signature Da-Gwa (assorted Korean traditional snacks) and the Damo Waffle (mugwort rice cake waffle with white cream). Among the Signature Da-Gwa, there were some that our party liked more than others. Everyone's favorite was probably the one that had red bean paste in it. The Damo waffle was a different texture. You need to dip it in the white cream, otherwise, it's a little too bland. Our party ordered the Hojicha Einspener, Matcha Einspener, Chocolate Forest Einspener and Strawberry Matcha Tea Latte. We all liked our drinks. I got the Hojicha Einspener and I like how you could taste the roasted tea flavor in it. I would come back again and try other drinks. read more

Their matcha latte (I get unsweetened) was incredibly smooth and well balanced! The space itself doesn't have too many tables and seats, but if you can land yourself a table it's a great place to work or meet friends. It's located in a plaza with many other different stores. The parking lot has free parking, but it's usually really busy so be prepared to wait for parking. read more
This cafe is really cute & pretty. There aren't that many tables to sit at, so be wary if you're trying to study there. I ordered the hojicha eispanner (less sweetened). Really liked the flavor and creaminess, but I think it was still a taddddd bit sweet. I wish it had been a little thicker as well - though maybe I didn't stir well enough. Would still come back! Lots of parking, too. read more

I ordered 2 matcha einspener and they were pretty good. The sweetness is at a good level but the ice level took up half of the drink which feels like a scam considering it cost $7.5 each. I also think it's crazy to charge 0.25 to change the drink to ice. The service was fast and there's a small parking lot outside. read more
Damo is the perfect cafe stop! We tried the matcha cream top and hojicha less sweet, along with the Damo Waffle. I can't wait to come back! Matcha was perfect and not too sweet. Hojicha was perfectly earthy and delicious way to end our Saturday night meal. Will definitely be back. Limited tables and seating. I hope they expand! Service was decent read more
This was the perfect after-meal cafe to sit at and chill with a friend or two! After placing our order, we grabbed a spot and our tray came out so beautifully we kind of sat there, adoring it for a while. - Signature Dagwa: All of these are more traditional Korean snacks and desserts (correct me if I'm wrong)! My favorite was the mugwort mochi and yakgwa, and my friend really liked the cream cheese persimmon. Perfect for sharing between 2 people. - Black (coffee) Einspanner: Unsweetened black coffee under paired with a cream top! Perfect if you don't want something sweet, but get a different flavor if you want something more dessert-y. - Chocolate Forest Einspanner: Matcha latte with chocolate cream top! More sweet than the Black Einspanner, and very nicely balanced! Would go back any time and try out more Einspanner flavors! Apparently they're really close to the Einspanners in Korea, and we really enjoyed them. read more

I was very excited to try this spot but was disappointed with the drink. I ordered the mango matcha which was very pretty and tasted delicious, but it was 70% ice. I took 10 sips and the drink was gone. This was very disappointing after spending $7 on a small cup of cream, mango jelly, and barely any matcha. After finishing the drink, i was very unsatisfied that i bought another drink from somewhere else. The service was very nice and the ambiance is very relaxed. This is a good spot for quietness and studying. read more
Great place for a quick snack!! I got the einspanner drink and the small snacks. This was not too sweet and not too bland! The line is always quite long but people move out real quick! Service was nice and fast too. The ambiance is a bit too loud for my taste because of alot of people but this was worth it! read more
Came one day to try out their matcha and hojicha drinks with my sister who is an avid matcha drinker. I got the hojicha einspener, I'd give it a 8/10. I really liked the cream on top and it didn't change the taste of the tea too much which I liked. My sister ordered a matcha einspener, she gave it a 7/10. There was still some matcha clumps at the bottom of her drink. The seating inside was very nice, and they had adequate amount of space between the coffee bar and the tables so it didn't feel too stuffy. May come again if I'm in the area. read more
We were in the area and I wanted a good hojicha drink. Searching on yelp we found this place and lots of people like their matcha/hojicha so we decided to check it out. The workers are very nice and we got our drinks quickly, considering the amount of people. It was very busy but service was great! We LOVED our hojicha einspener drinks! We will try other drinks next time. read more

The service here was great! The drinks weren't anything out of the ordinary, I love how you can add cream to any of the drinks! The snack board was $13, and in my opinion, a bit too pricey for what it comes with. Other than that, I did enjoy this place! read more
Heard of this place a lot of Tiktok and was not disappointed in the matcha einspener. There was a bit of line coming in here, and was about a 10-15 min wait between waiting, ordering, and then waiting on my drink. There doesn't seem to be too much table space inside although it seemed to be a popular 'aesthetic' study spot, but I personally wouldn't be too comfortable on those tiny tables. The vibe of the coffee bar itself and their tea sets was very pretty. The barista was very nice and explained the difference in the matcha latte and the einspener for me. Wasn't crazy about the extra matcha sprinkled on top of the cream since it clumps up in the drink eventually, but I would definitely return to try their other drinks! read more

Another great coffee and tea shop in Koreatown. We stopped here for a coffee and ended up trying a Latte with Einspanner (thick foam) and a cold brew tea! DAMO is much more tea focused than other coffee/ tea shops we usually go to. They had several varieties of cold brew tea and you could also get a pot brewed for your table. We enjoyed both coffee and the tea. Service was quick and friendly. Tips: Located in a little strip mall Definitely appears to specialize in tea read more

line was pretty short and moved fairly quickly. wait took a bit. in total, we probably waited ~15-20 minutes. they have wifi but i don't know if it connected to the internet at all, so it's not really great. matcha einspanner (5/5): good matcha taste and good level of sweetness. tbh i was kinda full when i was drinking this so i don't think i enjoyed it as much as i could've, but overall, a pretty solid drink. hojicha einspanner (5/5): got this a year ago but leaving a review now. at that time, my comments were "too much ice, good tasting, small cup size." to be fair, damo was the first korean cafe i tried in la. in hindsight, i think the ice cubes used at that time were kinda large, but when i had the matcha this time, they seemed decently proportioned, so i'm glad it's improved (or i'm just being delusional). the cup size is also fairly regular (i was probably comparing it to the size of some boba). overall, it was indeed good tasting and had a nice hojicha flavor. would come back again, solid cafe with nice drinks and cute staff. read more

Was looking for a late afternoon pick-me-up and DAMO was one of the few spots still open after 5:00PM on my cafe hitlist. Like others have said it's a pretty tight store with limited seating and that's a direct reflection of the parking situation as well. We got super lucky but I could imagine it being a nightmare over the weekend. Service was friendly and we waited a while for our drinks because they seemingly lost the ticket. The staff were super sweet and quickly expedited our drinks once we brought it to their attention. The menu is right down my alley and I love how a majority of their Einspanner drinks have a corresponding cream with it. For example, the Strawberry Einspanner has strawberry cream and Chocolate would have chocolate cream. Pricing is also what you would expect from a coffee shop in LA so no surprises there. My wife got the Matcha Einspanner while I got the Hojicha Einspanner. While I thought my wife's matcha einspanner was decent. I absolutely loved my Hojicha! I've been on a long journey of finding a Hojicha drink that wasn't powdery, flavorless, or overly sweet and I finally found it! Will definitely be back here to hit the remainder of the menu! read more
