Came in here on a weekday for a quick breakfast and was greeted and seated immediately. The breakfast menu has a little bit of everything which is great for bigger groups or picky eaters. I had a breakfast sandwich and my daughter had chocolate chip pancakes. Both came out quickly and were good. Our server was very nice and attentive. The building needs some repair and deep cleaning with cobwebs on the ceiling and the ceiling in the ladies room pretty much falling down so removed a star. read more

Fantastic spot for comfort food and a mix of breakfast and lunch items. Kids menu is a great deal at $7.99 for a bunch of options. French dip was very loaded and great bread that held onto the au jus without falling apart. Crispy fries that were devoured by our group. Three kids and one adult and $40 before tip was amazing. A family go-to Sunday brunch/lunch restaurant. I think there are some disgruntled folks in the comments, because I've never had anything but good food at Danby's. Y'all, it's a diner, but it's a good diner with comfy seating and a busy atmosphere on a Sunday. Came to this place for a family brunch. Honestly, food looked good/ok but tasted a bit bland. The problem was that after we left the place by a few hours, we experienced things like diarrhea and other gut problems... service was mid and we had to repeat what we said at least three times because our waitress couldn't seem to really hear us. Came here with the whole family for breakfast and we all ordered omelets... big mistake. The food was super mid -- kind of bland and felt like it had been sitting out way too long. Mine was greasy, the cheese barely melted, and the veggies were mushy. Hash browns were soggy, too. Also... the vibe? Straight up felt like we walked into a nursing home cafeteria with smelly people. It was packed with grandmas and grandpas, and the whole place had this weird smell -- like old carpet and stale syrup. Worst part is my sister threw up and had diarrhea. Not exactly the cozy breakfast spot we were hoping for. Service was fine, but yeah, probably not coming back. There are way better breakfast places in the area. read more

Seemed like a locals place! Very welcoming inside. They were busy, but our waitress was still very attentive! The food was really good and the prices were awesome!! Our first time in Danby Station coming from church, we were greeted by Nick the owner and we had a group of (14), Patty was our server and she was awesome, water & coffee were always kept full and all (14) breakfast was hot & ready. Great location off Roosevelt Rd / RT 38 in Glen Ellyn. Good food, excellent wait, bus staff. Typical efficient hosts, but space for waiting for seating when crowded (often the case for popular sit-down restaurants in DuPage County). For a small spot, booths are pleasant but the table space for larger groups is small and aisle space is tight. Strongly suggest calling if you're in a group over 4. Spot is just W of I-355, Rt 53 at the edge of Strip Mall/Grocery Stores & assorted specialty store fronts. Breakfast or Brunch is our time to seek this close to home. Parking plentiful but going Eastbound you need to turnoff at the light just before it, the watch closely for the small turnoff just past the NW banks busy ATM, etc. Drive Thru's. Traffic is busy all week on RT 38 with numerous controlled intersections prone to back-ups especially from Eastbound Traffic making for lotsa sight issues & short turn lanes. read more

This is an interesting place. I like the mon n pop restaurant repourping a Dennys. The decore is the same as it was in the 90s when I am guessing it was built. There was some interesting touches done with framed art and letters which did add a note of authenticity. Sadly th coffee was bad. On a positive note that was the worst part of the meal. The staff was nice seasoned vets who stopped by multiple times to make sure things were good. They kept trying to refill my coffee but you know. I had a day special omelet. It was light and fluffy with a good balance of fillings. I also opted for the 1 buck upgrade for a side of biscuits n gravy. Surprisingly the biscuit was made from scratch. The spot is definitely run with a spirit of mom & pop place. The building itself is hidden from the street and offers a small but free parking. The food.... oh that food.... it's just amazing. I could believe that for such practice (under $10!) you can get a plate which even I, a big man, couldn't finish. We had breakfast at Danby Station with friends on Sunday morning and we left stuffed with good food and good times. Both inside and out the place is very unassuming, in fact it's pretty easy to miss from Roosevelt Road, but the service and food will impress. It has the look and feel of a standard breakfast/brunch spot and the menu, of course, has a little bit of everything for breakfast or lunch. We had waffles, which were delicious, and I went with my standard breakfast litmus test of Eggs Benedict, on which they executed wonderfully! On top of that, our waitress was attentive and friendly and the other stuff (cleaning the table, refilling water) was there exactly when we needed them. I am excited that we finally made it over here as it's my new favorite breakfast spot (thankfully we live close by!) and I already cannot wait to return. read more

Well the service wasn't that good and the food wasn't that good. Ordered the Butchers Skillet. 15 minutes later the waitress comes back and asks if we want the skirt steak with that skillet. The skirt steak is why it's called the butchers skillet! The skillet came out missing the additional ingredients requested. The steak was good, the rest of the skillet had good flavor but was all sitting in a 1/2" layer of oil so everything was in oil soup. The pancakes looked good but were chewier and had some weird sort of after taste like the batter was mixed with rag water. The cashier seemed clueless. Our waitress was definitely clueless but sure talked a lot. She was behind on everyone's orders/checks/getting to go coffees but sure talked everyone's eat off. The hardest working people were the Hispanic kitchen staff who were wondering what was talking so long in the front of the house. read more

Went here today with parents for brunch. The food was great and the service was good. My only complaints was their cleanliness. I noticed every busboy, cleaned the table with a rag tucked into their apron. Not one of them used a spray bottle to disinfect the table first, just a dirty wet rag that smeared the bacteria around from previous tables. Plus they had displayed dry foliage above several tables that collects dust and bugs and hangs over where people's food sits. Food was not great. Nothing special. Came in and stood in front of register for about 3 min while ppl weee coming in behind me seating themselves. I was later told by waitress to go ahead and sit anywhere because there was no one there to seat us . When we sat down the same waitress told us we couldn't sit at the table my daughter chose because we were 4 and that table seats 6 . Right after she told us to sit anywhere. I asked her why did you tell us to sit anywhere if you were going to make us move to where you wanted to. She looked at me with a blank face. Let me mention she was not new. She looked like she had been working there for over 10 years. Won't go there ever again. read more

This spot is closest to our new home so I know we will be back! We came in on a Saturday, and while busy, they are able to turn the tables over fast and we only waited a few minutes. I ordered an omelette with bacon, spinach and mozzarella with a side of pancakes and hash browns. My only disappointment was in the portion size. It's like a normal person portion size- I'm just used to the omelettes at other places that take me 2-3 sittings to get through, but really a normal sized omelette is fine too! The omelette itself was SO tasty! They have the bacon thing figured out- it was perfect and crunchy. The hashbrowns were so perfectly crispy as well. I just loved them! The pancakes were good, but maybe just a little on the sweet side? I'd still probably pick them as my side though. My husband had a skillet and enjoyed his food too. Service was friendly, the whole place just had a happy, relaxed atmosphere to it. read more

Our waitress was great and friendly The gentleman seating us says "2 of you" as we walked in the we flowed him to the booth and he put our menus down and hurried away. Not much of a welcome. My granddaughter had the crepes with strawberries and I had a Denver Omelet , crepes were really good my omelet was a little over cooked but the hash browns where cooked great, some crunch to them and buttery. A hidden treasure. Been going to Danby Station for breakfast and lunch for quite some time. The food is consistently excellent and well-prepared. Soups are homemade and delicious. Portions are a great value. Love the spinach pie, best I've ever tasted. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The chocolate free chocolate mints at the checkout counter are a great touch. On the site of a former Denny's on Roosevelt Road in Glen Ellyn lies Danby Station. A pancake house style restaurant that's only open until 3:00 PM, Danby station has been just a few blocks from my former childhood home for years and up until today I had never visited. Part of my experience and the reason this review will not be five stars has to do with the service. Now this is a story all about how, my life got twist turned upside down, and I experienced a bit of frustration at a place that's called Danby Station. In walking into Danby Station a mural is noticeable on the top of the wall showing when a number of famous landmarks in Glen Ellyn were erected. I came in and within no time at all was given a booth and a menu. In 30 seconds or so I had zeroed in on what I wanted to order, closed my menu and put it of to my left-hand side so show I was no longer looking at the menu and was ready to order. After I sat down a few more people came in, and to my frustration a server came to their tables and took their orders before me despite my having arrived and having been seated earlier. Eventually the waitress did make her way to my table and was courteous and polite, when taking my order. It was after this that she was apparently on coffee detail, running around to every single table doing coffee refills. I don't drink coffee, I don't like coffee (or tea) so I ordered a soft drink. The soft drink wasn't filled until every table in her area got a coffee refill. Eventually my food was ready, and while a little longer than most places it wasn't a terribly long wait from when my food was served. However, shortly after getting my food and eating a bit, I ran out of soda. There was a reasonable amount of time before I was asked if I wanted more as the waitress once again was on coffee detail running around refilling coffee. I wonder if there's some sort of a "leave no coffee mug empty" emphasis here. In any event I ordered a skillet with pancakes and the skillet was definitely five star quality food. It had a great mix of flavors, the eggs were soft and fluffy this was way beyond my expectations. The quality of the pancakes were fairly average and the cup they provide syrup in is slightly smaller than it should be to accommodate two pancakes. Overall my food was excellent, the inside is clean and has a pleasing decor, and my service was friendly. However, it seems like there is a big emphasis to do coffee refills at the expense of general service quality here. It's possible when I inevitably visit again I might bump this review up to five stars if the service is better. But for now I'm leaving it at four. read more

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. I am always looking for a good spot to have breakfast at. My favorite places are diners. I turned to Yelp to find a spot to eat Sunday breakfast with my little one. I decided on Danby. We got there a little after noon, we missed the breakfast rush. We were seated right away. We sat there for a few minutes before being acknowledged. This time it was no big deal since I was looking over the menu. The menu is full of so many delicious choices. I decided on a skillet and my little one wanted French toast. The skillet I choice was the Butchers skillet. It's the 8 oz grilled skirt steak skillet with mushrooms, green peppers, tomatoes, onions, your choice of cheese, two eggs and hash browns. I chose pancakes instead of toast. I always like to try the steak skillets and many times I'm disappointed. Not this time. This skillet was delicious! It was an 8 oz steak, full of flavor and very tender. The ingredients were fresh, it had just the right amount cheese and the hash browns were cooked just right. They weren't over cooked and dry and they weren't under cooked, they were perfect. My daughters kids size French toast was huge and very good. It came with a choice of bacon or sausage. The only thing that could have been better was our sever. She wasn't by our table much. My coffee sat empty for a while and I didn't have enough of the flavored creamers. The server tending to our neighboring tables was great and was checking on her tables. She even came over to offer me a bag for the left overs. Our server never gave us a bag and o had to request a few boxes. My first time here was very good and I can't wait to go back. read more

Just your average breakfast/lunch joint. A bit disappointed in the belgian waffle I had which was more tough rather than soft and fluffy like I had expected. It also came out not very warm which must be because it sat a while before coming out to me. Thankfully the fries I ordered were at least decent and not room temp. I started coming to this place a year or so ago after wanting to find a restaurant for lunch near my college that wasn't fast food. Really affordable, consistently tasty, and great service (bussers, servers, and the manager/host-all super nice and accommodating). I can't speak for other items on the menu, but their skillets and omelettes are awesome-the greek omelette is a really cool option, and I love the chorizo and CB hash skillets. Also: the gluten free pancakes are great! SO happy I found a place with ones that don't taste like sawdust! This place used to be a Denny's and I used to come here all the time as a kid. Its surprisingly quiet and they don't have TVs. My waitress was cool. I got a classic egg Benedict and eh. It was the worst attempt of a Hollandaise sauce I have ever seen. It was all watery and sigh I was disappointed but it's fairly cheap so I will definitely try it again read more

since Seven Drawfs had lost power from the storm yesterday ... we had to drive down here for breakfast. I turned over my coffee cup and there was a part of a sugar pac stuck to the inside ... gross! the place doesn't seem real clean. a guy in a white tshirt (real classy) sat us. the waitress wasn't very attentive. only filled the coffee cup once and never asked how the food was. their breakfast specials are reasonable ... but the hashbrowns were luke warm and the bacon wasn't crispy as asked. the biscuits and gravy was terrible. the biscuits were stale! we were precessed for time, so I couldn't wait for them to correct things. the waitress seemed to be somewhere else ... probally on vacation in her mind.
