I ordered a grilled cheese, fries and a shake. The grilled cheese was fine, but they forgot my fries. My friend gave me some of hers and they were not good. The teenager said his weren't either. Service (on roller skates mind you) was fantastic; super friendly and fast. Dandy's touts a simple menu that doesn't disappoint. Basic burgers built up with bacon, cheese and doubles. Bottomless flavors of shakes to top it off. If you're a Yelp snob, pipe down, buckle up and drive-in for a serious blast from the past. Having lived in Bend all my life, I've gone here numerous times. Burgers are very good, good sized and always have been somewhat expensive. So, it's always been a treat for us to go there. It's unique, with the gals roller skating up to take your order and they're always friendly. However, their prices have gotten really high and sadly we won't be going there anymore. Just stopped in last night and was floored at the recent price increases. But, if you want to experience something different and good burgers (onion rings are great too), by all means go, just be prepared to pay a lot. We are sorry to say that for the first time since we been going to Dandy's, the food was very disappointing. The burger meat was full of gristle and no favor. Tator tots were not crispy. I've tried most of the burger places in Bend that get good reviews on Yelp but they usually usually fall into one extreme or the other between generic plain burger and over seasoned specialty burger. They mostly taste like chain restaurant burgers. Which is fine, if that's what you are looking for. Dandy's reminds me more of a burger I'd eat at a fair. Just great old school flavor. And the fries are just simple large cut fries. No weird breading or funky seasoning. Just thick fries. Everyone here is very friendly and the roller skates are a nice touch. I love Dandy's because you barely have to wait you're there 2 minutes and here comes a cute girl on roller skates, and they always smiled they're not stuck up like some places in bend. The burgers are big and juicy and taste great. If you're not as hungry you can get a little dandy, with cheese ,bacon or hell another patty if you want. The onion rings are crispy and the whole onion doesn't come out so you're not stuck with a shell of fried batter and fries are good, the food always hot and consistently the same you know what you're going to get no ,is it going to be good this time? I live in Lapine and I go there almost every time I'm in bend which is a lot. The small soda is really small but spend a couple more cents and get you a bigger soda cash only and get yourself some fry sauce oh and tip them girls they're out there rain or shine read more

Dandy's is a great old fashion drive in. We stopped here on our way out of town and the burgers are to die for. The cheapest burger was very filling and came with a good size hamburger patty. I also ordered an Oreo milk shake that was very delicious and had that old fashion flavor. Make sure that you bring cash to pay, as they don't accept cards and only local checks. Definitely try this place, if you enjoy old fashion burger spots. read more

Talk about a hometown joint! I've been going here since I was a kiddo. When I went vegetarian at 17, I'd still order the grilled cheese or fishwich (I ate meat). For those 22 years of being a veg, I always said that one of the first things I'd do if I went back to meat was go to Dandy's. The cheeseburger had reached legendary heights in my memory, and geez, that place has stayed consistently fabulous. I like to go at an off time, because otherwise that place can get pretty crowded. Best burger in Central Oregon by a long shot! I have never ordered anything but the double grand dandy and it is truly amazing! They are not open on Sunday's, they take cash or check only which at first really really annoyed me but the burger is that good. French fries are good and the fry sauce is amazing as well. Call it in and when you show up your food will be ready! After being annoyed about cash only, I tried Pilot butte, not bad but not dandy's. I tried Bend Burger, awful awful buger, next I tried the new 5 guys and it was the worst burger I may have ever had. So avoid those places and just hit up the ATM and head to Dandy's and you will be happy! Better yet maybe Dandy's can get with the times and I will give you 6 stars !? read more

Not the Pilot Butt Drive Inn, not Sonic, not the Choke and Puke, but Dandy's. Hands down, those in the know in Central Oregon prefer Dandy's burgers by a huge margin. Those not in the know, or those with just plain lousy taste, may choose someplace else. The Grand Dandy, and its little brother, The Lil Dandy, are phenomenal hamburgers. The shakes are fantastic. The food is cheap and fresh. I can't say they have the best burgers in town but the drive-in experience (there is no option to go inside or seating anywhere) was new for me and I enjoyed watching the ladies skate around like pros. If you like bananas, you MUST get their fresh banana shake. After we tried that, we went back quite a few times just to get the shake because it is that good. Don't forget to bring CASH! read more

Thank you for everyone who Loves Dandy's! Nostalgia hits very close to home with this one as my Parents are the ones who opened Dandy's back in 1968, they year before I was born. Dandy's was named after my brother Andrew "Andy", because my older sister Polly called him Dandy. I am happy to say that the same family that bought Dandy's from my father almost 20+ years ago are still running it, and keeping his attention to fresh ingredients and friendly service alive. From making fresh beef patties each morning, to slicing the tomatoes, to hand mixing the sauce, the food at Dandy's is always fresh. I always try to go back when visiting my relatives that live in the area. If what you are looking for is the best gourmet hamburger available, then you are missing the point. Dandy's isn't trying to do that. If you want good, fresh, inexpensive food that has been made the same way for 40 years, then you've picked the right place. read more

I had the double cheeseburger which was cooked perfect with a light crisp on the edges while maintaining flavor and oh so juicy and hot. Honestly, we've lived and traveled all over this country and believe this is hands down the best burgers we've had. We also were pleased to learn they serve locasl grass fed beef from Oregon Beef Co. in Madras. I don't get the hype. Was excited to taste the food and was completely let down. Half my fries were cold in the middle by the time I got to my hotel.... ACROSS THE STREET!! The warm ones were tasty though. The "amazing" fry sauce was mayo with some seasoning or light ketchup but I honestly felt like I was dipping my frys in straight mayo.... yuck! And since I didnt get ketchup I was stuck with dry fries.... double yuck! Now the burger: Grand Daddy(or dandy) with no tomato but added onion. BURGER was too salty for me and with the bacon added was even saltier. Nice size burger though and the thick bacon was tasty. The bun was too flimsy and literally split down the middle of the top bun from the cheese and mayo making it moist. Didnt realize I needed to ask for ketchup or mustard. Most places at least ask if you would like on the side or even packets if they dont offer it on the burger. Guess this place is mayo happy. Wish Hardys would have been open. I gave 2 stars because the bacon was thick and tasty as were the warm fries. And because the roller girl was nice and friendly in the cold weather. read more
