I absolutely love this place and consider it the BEST steak house in seattle and that includes the Met, Union City Grill, Ruth Chris, Jak's, etc (note I also consider it my favorite steak house period and this includes The Chop House and Harry Carey's in chicago, Morton's, and Smith & Wollenski). The service is wonderful, the food is superb, and the atmosphere makes for a great dining experience. I should note, of all the Daniel's locations in Seattle I've always felt the Lake Union location was the best as the view can't be beat and the service there for some reason seems to be a notch above. Oh and if you are one of the lucky individuals who can grab one of their prime ribs grab it... though if you can finish it by yourself you are definitely a bigger man than me.... and I mean that literally. read more

At the time I'm writing this review I have bitter-sweet memories of this place. In 1990 my ex and I were married in the dining room of this restaurant. (The room was arranged differently back then, don't think it could be done now.) We chose it for it's breath-taking view and it's proximity to a relatively deep water dock (Our reception was on the M.V. Malibu as it went around Lake Washington.) We came back here for our 10 and 20 year anniversaries as well as I think a special occasion or two. The food is excellent. The service is excellent. The view is excellent. Parking is plentiful in the area (and free) or you can use their valet parking. And the prices are... well nobody's perfect. I'll add to what others have said about the happy hour. It's quite good. And a great chance to sample their quality at a lower price point. Will I go back? I don't really know. Not because of anything negative about the place... or even the prices. I'm giving this a fair shake as I've gone to Daniel's on more than one opportunity to give me a good experience. Nothing has impressed me there. I've had the opportunity to have their porterhouse, filet mignon, and NY steaks on different days and occassions. I've had everything in their appetizer selection, and its all traditional American formal dining at its most sub par. I've been to the South Lake Union and Leschi locations. The steaks are not uniformly cooked nor aged. They are burnt typically. Ordering Medium Rare, I barely get any pink ever. I would rather go to the outback for steaks and Blu Water Bistro or Chandler's for waterfront ambiance. Bacon wrapped scallops hard as hockey pucks, lobster mash potatoes...where was the lobster???, seared tuna wontons over seasoned, steak tips drowned in sauce, they're murdering the beauty of this kind of food. So if you have to have steak, white table cloth, and can't afford to go to the premier steak houses in seattle (met, cap, or el gaucho) i guess you could go here. I like Ruth's Chris more. Truth is, if you're a half decent cook, it's hard to screw up a USDA prime steak. So their steak is great, but USDA prime is naturally great. They also have Alberta steak here sometimes if you come during the right times. Their appies and drinks are top notch. I'm going to start this review by saying the food was wonderfully prepared and delicious. We had the filet and ribeye that were perfectly cooked and the mashed potatoes were great. The cocktails were also amazing. I am giving this this resturaunt a 1 star review because I received some of the worst service I've ever received at any resturaunt, but especially for this price range. I waited over 10 minutes to be greeted by our server and waited over 15 more for bread and drinks. Our server Kramer proceeded to ignore us most of the dinner and I watched multiple servers pass by our table over 12 times without clearing our dirty dishes which were stacked at the edge. Once I asked for a desert menu we waited 25 minutes for our order to be taken. I am extremely disapointed and I was being understanding at first but at a certain point it got to be ridiculous and I would not recommend this resturaunt unless you don't mind being ignored for 2 hours. I never write reviews, but I am writing this to express how disappointed I am because me and my family and friends are big Daniels Broiler eaters, and we were very poorly treated. It was the second night Daniels had been opened after being closed for months due to the pandemic. Our reservation was at 7pm, we did not get sat until 8pm. Had we known it would have gone that far past our reservation we would have left and ate somewhere else. They kept just telling us a "soon". I understand they were busy, so finally we got sat down and actually ordered immediately because we didn't have time to waste (I have a 6 month old baby at home and needed to be home soon) and we were starving. After waiting 30 minutes for our food, I assume she was the manager (short hair) who came out and let me know that they had dropped the lamb I ordered on the ground and instead would I like a filet? I was pretty disappointed because I have been to Daniels so many times and never had lamb, but mistakes happen and I was starving so I just said sure and I ordered it medium rare. Our food finally came out, and my steak was VERY well done. I didn't even complain about that because again, I was starving and didn't have more time to waste on waiting. The garlic mashed potatoes didn't taste garlicky at all, either. The cherry on top was when our bill game. I was shocked to see they had still charged me for the filet. Really? You drop my lamb, after waiting an hour and a half and can't even acknowledge how disappointed we are, offer a dessert or comp my steak at the very least. I am so disappointed with the customer service because again, we are big Daniels Broilers eaters and give you guys a lot of business. They simply just did not care, they were not even apologetic about it. I will never return to this location. And I will make sure my family knows to never go to this location and hopefully the other locations we go to never disappoint us like this. read more

Let me make it clear this was a happy hour visit and we did not get steaks or do the full dinner menu experience. My rating is based on the bar menu. In my opinion, 3 stars is just fine and means I may go back again. My wife got the fish and chips which she said she enjoyed and it seemed to come with a healthy portion. I got the prime filet mignon steak sandwich. This is typically the type of sandwich I get when it's my first time at a restaurant. Especially one known for it's steaks. The sandwich was underwhelming for $22 and simply tasted like your standard French dip. The actual dip was unique but not for me as it kind of tasted like minestrone soup as opposed to a traditional au jus. I didn't hate it, but all I could think about was the NY Steak Sandwich at Jak's that costs $17 and is the best steak sandwich in the city. By taste and price comparison the value was not there. There was a limited number of tap beers and I got the Bellevue Ale. Problem was the glass was small and I got the idea they were serving 10 oz beers. I could be wrong about that but it was my perception and the beer was gone real fast. Didn't think I was that thirsty. Another true Seattle dining experience, the Daniel's broiler here in Leschi is really the only one that deserves a 5. The other two, while very nice places to eat--and perhaps a tad more convenient--don't have that 'something extra' (to quote Legally Blonde) that makes this location truly special. What is amazing is not that their steaks are wonderful and flavorful, their creamed spinach perfect (I'm not that crazy for garlic mashed potatoes, but whatever), their service always truly friendly, but that when you are looking out through masts over Lake Washington at sunset you can forget that you are eating one of the best steaks available anywhere. I've had a lot of fantastic beef in my life, but I don't think, other than the absolute top-tier of NYC steakhouses, have I ever had anything notably better than at Daniel's. As an aside... I've been going to Daniel's since my days as an indie-rocker and was always treated very well by the wait-staff no matter how I was dressed. I never came in with a hoodie and ripped jeans, but probably something pretty comparable and never had a problem. That's what I love, and miss, about Seattle. This is a great place to eat. read more

So what can I say about Daniels? Firstly, what do I even know about Daniels? I do know that they have been here in Seattle long enough to be a part of the landscape, and judging by the landscape that surrounds this hidden gem it is well worth a visit. When I first arrived here in Seattle from Australia I just thought this restaurant was another link in the long line of food chains in this city similar to Outback Steakhouse, Olive Garden, etc...you get my point. But how wrong I was. It was alot more pricey than those other places, and far removed from that sub-standard dining you will fine elsewhere. Admittedly, I am not a huge fan of steak and this definitely is a steak joint, but if you love your meat you betta check it out - you won't be disappointed. I must also add that being that I work in the Leschi vicinity I could say that I am fortunate to celebrate a gathering of the local businesses here every year, but each year the quality of the finger food served drops down a notch. You could make excuses and chide that this is not the fault of Daniels fine chefs, but the low budget set for these yearly functions but I would assume, from a marketing perspective, that every function should be a chance for the restaurant to present it's fare on unsuspecting bystanders who will be enticed to come back for more. That said, I think I will give the celebration a miss next year...unless of course they are offering a three course meal set at the usual standard that I have come to expect from Daniels. * Just a note for those who frequent Daniels on a regular basis. If you happen to use the wonderful valet service please...PLEASE...make sure you are able to drive your drunken arse home and not leave your car parked in the Daniel car park all night, and thus all day until you are sober enough to pick it up. Unbeknown to many of Daniel's drunks local offices lease the car spaces during the day, and you just might find your car blocked in by an angry female who is ranting and pointing to the "reserved from 7am-5pm" signs when you try to pick it up...I am a nice person - really - I just have my pet peeves, but don't we all. read more

A very good meal if you are alright with spending a lot of money on a piece of beef. Don't get me wrong, the steaks are great, just very pricy but that's expected here. Most recently my family and I came here to celebrate my parent's anniversary, we were running late and they were more than accommodating with the timeline. We did find it odd that the table was not ready by the time we arrived and when we sat down, nobody came by to ask us for drinks or fill our wart glasses for a solid five minutes. I found this odd with the quality and service that you are paying for. Overall I have a nostalgia of special occasions at Daniel's but after my last experience here I think I'll be looking to celebrate special occasions somewhere else. read more

YUM! I really enjoyed our time at Daniel's Broiler - Leschi. Honestly, I never even knew this area existed, but I found it to be quite beautiful. The food was exquisite - ribeye, flank steak, cheesecake, celebration dessert... mmmm. We were seated in a corner spot and had a great view of the water and Bellevue. The restaurant area was smaller than I expected (bar is even smaller), but it was quaint and cozy. Our server was also super friendly and attentive. Actually, I'd give it 3.5 stars. The night we went seemed very unorganized. The experience one has in a fine dining establishment should be like watching a ballet. Timing is key. Our server took around 10-15 minutes to get to our table and water wasn't poured right away. After that, our entrees arrived without too much of a delay, but I'll agree with another review I read for this restaurant, 'the food was good, not great'. Having experienced the marbled prime rib at the Daniel's Broiler in South Lake Union, my expectations were still quite high for this particular meal at the Lake Washington / Leschi location. This particular Sunday dinner was good, but not spectacular. The prix fixe menu and also the half-price wine night specials definitely helped.. The filet mignon was flavorful, yet I was positive they had cooked it to medium despite my request for medium-rare. The side of broccoli was literally a hunk of broccoli straight from the produce section, uncut and unseasoned. The "fixin's" for the baked potato included chives, butter, and bacon bits, which kind of made me wish there was a "fixin's" bar for the broccoli. The New York-style Cheesecake came pretty close to saving the day, as it was topped with a buttery wafer and macerated strawberries and blueberries. All in all, this was a decent meal. If it weren't for my friends' orders of Crispy Fried Calamari, Daniel's Prime Rib-Eye, and Lobster Mashed Potatoes, this review would have even less favorable. To end this on a positive note, I am thankful that they took reservations for such a large group (14 people), and that we were able to enjoy the specials that were available. read more

At first I was skeptical about this place being good because of their terrible "valet service" parking lot. Basically you park your car next to the restaurant and they charge you $5 when you walk up to the door...I believe that's just called "paid parking" not vallet but to-me-to to-ma-to..eh? Anyway, their Seared Ahi Tuna, Popcorn Shrimp, and Artichokes were delectable. Absolutely the foods I will return to sample along with a glass of refreshing Chardonnay. To top it all off we had their seasonal fruit tart that was the best dessert I've had in awhile. If you love a lot of sweetness, this is the dessert for you. It had home made caramel, fluffy light breading on the bottom, and I believe there was fruit on top but can't remember...It was delicious and I would go back just for the dessert and wine. This is my new favorite steak bistro in Seattle! I went to the Daniel's Bistro on South Lake Union-North Seattle off of the 5 (the marina). The service was good-they waited on our every move, the atmosphere was wonderful...but the food, the food was incredible. Had the popcorn shrimp, the southern creole shrimp and the calamari as appetizers.The popcorn shrimp were the favorite followed by the creole. Calamari was cooked just right. (i didnt try the fresh bread served-sorry) Lobster bisque was next. The bisque was flavorful and creamy with wonderful portions of lobster. Their steak cuts were great. They have a full menu with great options but I highly suggest you spend the extra for the house adds like having your steak "Oscar" style which is a butter sauce with crap heaped onto the steak. Or the truly divine house special: bacon lobster mashed potatoes! MMMMMMMMM The cut enjoyed was the 12 oz filet . It was prepared wonderfully how be it slightly over cooked for medium rare. But the flavors and the preparation were a wonderful mix in addition to the house specials added. Finished up with the Key Lime Pie. Just the right combination of sweet and tart by adding a whip cream and fruit. Just a note: it is cheaper to valet than pay for parking (as well as all the other perks of valet). Our party had the prime rib as well which started off a little shaky in flavor but after two bites they said it was as good as any they have had. The lobster tail was absolutely as large as any I had seen. We also tried almost all of the desserts and couldnt find a fault other than being big enough for two. Not the snooty dining experience you might experience at other Seattle venues. Highly recommend this location for a romantic dinner or special event. While this restaurant has some undeniably nice aspects to it, the overall experience left me wanting in several ways. Food: The servers make a big deal out of the quality of the cuts of meat, and the super high temperature broiler that they're cooked in, and do a little dance with flashlights to check if you're happy with they way your steak is cooked; but in the end the quality is mediocre at best. Add to that the fact that the sides are highly forgettable (especially the mashed potatoes, which taste like cheap instant potatoes made without enough milk), and you have a food experience that could be equaled (or dare I say exceeded) by your typical Applebee's. Price: One word--overpriced. Make that two words--WAY overpriced. If the quality was MUCH, MUCH higher, the restaurant could MAYBE get away with what they charge. Things being as they are, no way. Atmosphere: This is the only thing keeping the restaurant from garnering only one star. The views of Lake Washington and Mt. Rainier are stunning. At night, the lighting is kept low, good for a nice night out. (On the negative side, though not directly the fault of the restaurant, is the number of children people bring here, even on a Friday night. Who brings kids to a place where steaks are $80 a pop?!) We were seated right away but it took around 10 minutes for our waiter to come and take our drink and appetizer order (not bad).... We ordered the crispy artichoke hearts, which were incredible. I ordered an old fashioned with Knob Creek bourbon (save yourself, drink beforehand), which was okay at best. We ordered the lobster tail and filet to split. The lobster tail was to die for, but the "USDA Prime" they pride themselves on was charred from their prized broiler. The steak was somewhat flavorless, but decently cooked to a medium rare as requested. We finished up with a roughly $200 tab, but left quite disappointed. Happy Hour Review: Real cool setup with plenty of smaller tables, some couches, and an actual piano bar! Went with a group of 5 and we had no problem finding space, even though the place was hoppin'. Best: - the service: extremely attentive waitress, no problems and very friendly - house martinis: all $8 - marked down from 11. Plenty strong and delicious. Good: - Other drink specials: $4 off wine, $2 off drafts. Tons of wine, decent brew selection. Also - on Sunday, bottles under $100 are half off! - Setting: loved the ambiance, noisy and fun, but an older crowd for us 20-somethings. But there is that actual piano bar... Super cool. So-So: - Food: wasn't a huge fan of our ahi or calamari but certainly plenty others on the menu I would like to try. Good piece of fish, didn't like the teriyaki glaze. This was my second time dining at this Daniel's location, and I was greatly disappointed. Our server, Melissa, was friendly. However, service was slow. Melissa was quick to greet us and get our first round of drinks. Bread and salads were served at an appropriate time. However, it took a full 45 minutes between our salads and entrees. There was zero explanation of the extended wait, nor were there apologies when the entrees finally did arrive. When my steak arrived, it was medium well, rather than medium rare. To make up for it, I was offered a little blackberry sorbet while my tablemates enjoyed their entrees. About 10 minutes later, the general manager, Kay, brought a new steak over. This time, it was cooked rare (rather than medium rare) - I did not want to make further fuss and wait even more, so I stayed quiet and made the most of my meal. We ended with dessert, and Kay ran our check for us. There were no further apologies or consideration given. I am not a picky diner, and I can give a fair amount of leeway to things. But this is a high caliber restaurant, and they should be able to handle the basics: check in when the kitchen is backed up, properly cook a steak to temperature, and do something to "wow" us when things don't go as planned. read more

Can't really see it because it was dark but, the view was still nice with all the boats that were out there. Service was good. Rolls were a little hard-skinned, though, very difficult to chew. And I agree with the reviewer who said take the bacon out of the lobster mashed potatoes. Couldn't taste the lobster! We had Matt as a server and he did a great job. Friendly but not chatting us up (we're there to talk to each other after all); there whenever we needed him and not hanging around when we didn't.
